Keychain bug

I cant save my settings in mail. when set to password authentification it goes to apop athentification.
Now I got this suggestion of my problem from a friendly soul.
"This sounds like a keychain bug which usually is fixed by accepting the password always after using the Keychain Utility to repair the Keychain. "
I have done the keychain repair and it was ok. But where do I go to accept the password always?

Well, it turns out this isn't related to 10.5.2 at all. The same problem exists even in the original 10.5 Leopard release! I guess I just never noticed it because I had most of my passwords already saved. Come to think of it I've had a couple times where a password wouldn't come up like I was expecting it to. But I never thought much of it because it didn't happen repeatedly like it did the other day when I had to switch between two accounts a bunch of times.
Good news is I also found a workaround. It's a pain, but if you create the password items manually in Keychain Access, Safari will pick them up just fine. All you have to do is look at another saved password and fill in all the fields in a similar way.
After some more troubleshooting I found the bug gets even stranger: if you already had multiple passwords saved, it can apparently save the same number of new passwords. Went to a site, I had two passwords saved there (user1 and user2). Logged in as two new users (mike1 and mike2). Now I have two saved passwords, as shown in Keychain Access:
Name: domain.com (user1)
Account: mike1
Name: domain.com (user2)
Account: mike2
Of course the passwords for user1 and user2 are now totally gone.

Ios 6.0.2 introduces keychain bug?

Since I updated to iOS 6.0.2, I've experienced problems with some apps that can't seem to remember password credentials after each reload. I have to RE-ENTER the login credentials repeatedly. What a pain!
iOS just can't seem to remember Twitter password in the Settings!! I entered Twitter password, iOS then verify it is correct. Then when I return to the Twitter setting, iOS IMMEDIATELY forgets the password.

There could be a bug in the iOS keychain in 6.0.2. This looks serious to me because it has security implications.

Login/keychain bug: Login as admin without a password.

I just stumbled upon this bug. I have two user accounts on my iMac (OS 10.6.1) one password protected admin account and one user account without a password. If I go to the login window and click on the user account and immediately follow up with clicking on my admin account, then it will log me in as my admin account without asking for a password. If the admin account is not logged in a box will appear and ask my if I want to update my keychain or continue to login.
I guess this wont be a problem if you just use a password on all your account.

Nope. How was it changed? Your only option, IMHO, is to boot with your install disk and reset it. Once it's reset, login to and change it back.

Keychains bug with german umlaut

Recently i found a strange behavior within keychains. If the name of a keychain contains a german umlaut e.g "geschäftlich" i'm not able to activate sync keychain with .mac. i set the marker at "sync keychain with .mac" and click save. When i open the keychain settings again the dotmac setting is again NOT enabled and the keychains don't get synced.
If i make a new keychain "geschaeftlich" which contains the same items as "geschäftlich" everything works fine.
As far as i remember keychains worked with "umlaute" until at least 10.5.2

Probably one of many issues with the transition to MobileMe. I'd file a bug.

ICloud Keychain Bug - inherits setting of new machine

iCloud Keychain is a great idea that allows you to choose more complex, difficult to break passwords and keep them available for all you OSX Mavericks and iOS 7.0.3+ devices. Add this to Safari password suggestion tool, and you enhance security of your data tremendously. And so I happily upgraded my Macbook Pro and my iOS devices and changed my most important passwords. And the the big problem: I decided to upgrade the mac mini in my office. Problem is that, if you add a new mac to your collection, iCloud Keychain inherits the settings of the attached computer instead of asking, destroying all you have done before and making you reset all passwords, what may require hours of tedious work depending on your password collection.
Bad Apple. Very bad.

You could try to find the old ID as explained here: try to find it as explained here: Apple ID: How to find your Apple ID. If you find it, you would then have to reset the password as explained here: iCloud: Change your iCloud password.
Or, you could just create a new Apple ID by going here: https://appleid.apple.com/account.
To create your iCloud account, you would then go to System Preferences>iCloud on the new Mac and sign in with the ID to create the account, then check the items you want to sync with iCloud. Just be aware that each device/Mac can only create a maximum of three iCloud accounts. If these have already been created on this Mac then you won't be able to create a new account without using a different iOS device running iOS 5 or higher (iPhoto, iPad, iPod touch) or Mac running OS X 10.7.5 or higher, if you have one.

Not a keychain bug, but a font issue. Restart and boot into safe mode as described in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564?viewlocale=en_US (you might need the French version), then do a normal boot. Once that's finished, launch Font Book, select all fonts, validate them and resolve duplicates, and restart. That should fix all your font issue.

Keychain Issue with Entourage SMTP password or port attribute

I am posting this under Using OS X rather than Mail since I do not
use Apple's Mail. The problem is the Microsoft Entourage or something
may be sending bad information to the OS X keychain and this prevents me
from sending mail to my ATT/Yahoo account. The workaround I have
been using to send mail is use the OS X Keychain First Aid repair.
After the repair Entourage will send the message one or two times then
I get the following Keychain verification error note:
Item “pop.att.yahoo.com” has unspecified value for port attribute
Item “smtp.att.yahoo.com” has unspecified value for port attribute
Problems were found; you should choose the Repair option to fix them
Verification failed.
The Repair option corrects the problem until the next message is
sent. I have done everything I can think of to the Entourage v12.1.7
settings and something is still not right.
I am beginning to suspect a Keychain bug or error but have no idea
how to get the correct attribute written to the keychain.
Maybe someone could provide some terminal commands to the will
help me write the correct password and port attribute to the keychain.
I am open to any suggestions to clear being nagged every time I
need to send a message to enter my password. The POP mail works
fine. This seems to be an issue with the password that is required
by the ATT/Yahoo smtp server.

If you are sure your primary account is setup correct (per the above URLs), open
the Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access.app and go to Keychain Access/Keychain
First Aid and click on the Verify and Repair if necessary.
FYI, Entourage will write errors to the keychain if you have the account setup wrong.
My error (that cause the keychain errors) was I typed in the my ID and password in
the smtp option. Check the box to use the received and do NOT type in the address.
When you save the settings with nothing in the boxes, Entourage will do it for you
and it will work.
I don't know why but it will not work if you type in the info. Just follow the rules
and it will work

Store never remembers my password.

Hi,
For about a month now iTunes refuses to remember my password for app updates and all new purchases. I have 'remember my password' ticked but it still asks me EVERY time.
A keychain bug perhaps?
Any ideas on a fix would be great.

A number of people have reported that, since one of the more recent updates, iTunes will ask for a passwork the first time you make a purchase after launching iTunes. Subsequent purchases will not require a password. If you restart iTunes, you'll need to enter the password. No idea if this is a bug or a feature. Haven't seen anyway around it.

IMac mid 2011 works only in guest mode

I changed my administratiors password thinking it would automaticly become the keychain password. Now I can only log on in the guest mode because a normal log in is stopped at a pop up asking for the keychain password. What can I do? Am currently running YOSEMITE 10.10.

Thank you for your response. I do not remember the previous admi PW. I finally partitioned the HD. erased the new drive, installed Yosemite on that one, migrated files and app's, not computer and network settings. This has eliminated the keychain bug, apparently in Yosemite. Then did the same for other partition. A little laborious perhaps but after three days of trying different solutions the only thing that worked.

Apple Mail & Keychain in OD Envoirement, Bug or Feature?

I have sorted out a bug (or hidden feature) by using Apple Mail in an Open Directory environment.
When using the Open Directory for storing the home folders of the user, the password for Apple Mail are not stored in the default "login" but stored in "local items" which is only visible when working with the OD.
For every Mac we need to store the password their. So when a user can work on 5 macs, he need to enter his IMAP and SMTP Password on each Macs. This is very frustraded for me as supporter, but also for each user. Is their a way to change the default place for storing the place the password, within Apple Mail to the default "login" in Keychain Access.
We recognise this problem after updating form 10.6.8 to 10.9.5. With snow Leopard everything works fine. The orignal entry for the IMAP and SMTP is still available within "login" but it is not used. Apple prompt to enter the the password and write this in the "login items"

Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application and select the login keychain. If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, unlock it. From the menu bar, select Keychain Access > Preferences > First Aid. If the box labeled Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it. Then select Keychain Access > Keychain First Aid and repair the keychain. Quit the application.

I've tried to open keychain first from my macbook pro because of Safari and Chrome, they still dont work in wifi unless Firefox, then I went to a Fnac (like Best Buy) and I try to open the keychain in all the iMacs exposed and everytime the application froze , to the macbook air at the iMac all of them froze.

Ios 8 bug: keychain autofill doesn't work for multiple accounts on the same website

WIth the IOS 8 update I have an issue. I have, for my job, to check several and different accesses on the same website. The autofill function is now proposing just the last entered user-password, even if all the credentials are regularly stored in the keychain. Same behavior on my ipad air and my iphone.
Has anyone the same problem?

An update. If I:
Enroll a Windows Surface using a local admin account
Request to install an app from a local standard account it appears stuck on Installing...
Log back in as the local admin account and wait, the app appears.
Questions:
Can the same app be installed into multiple local accounts on the same device? It doesn't look like it.
Is the local account used when the device is enrolled the only local account that will install Intune apps?

Safari bug with privoxy and keychain (Version 3.0.4 (523.12.2))

I use privoxy to forward some requests to another proxy server located at the university, in order to access online some publications. Of course, this requires a password, which is stored in the keychain as "localhost (<university login>)", for the location "http://localhost:8118". Now, this works fine with Camino; but Safari would store the same password again (which it does for every password; very annoying), and from that moment, a lot of programs want to access this password: the apple SoftwareUpdateChecker, Adium, Shimo, etc.
Looks like a MacOS/Safari problem to me - all these applications, I think, want to access the web, hence use the proxy server I set. And they find a keychain password for that proxy. But - why do they want to use a password they are not prompted for? I'm quite sure that these programs don't request URLs for which I set a forward to the university proxy.
Camino, by comparison, prompts me to confirm the (stored) password only when I access one of the "forwarded" URLs. As for Safari, I can't tell, maybe it sends the password to privoxy all the time - but again, how, if it is not prompted for any PW?
Has anyone experienced this?

Snow Leopard: Mail doesn't remember passwords no on login keychain

I keep my mail passwords in a separate keychain.
Prior to 10.6, I would only have to unlock the keychain and grant Mail access to the passwords.
Now, with Snow Leopard, I'm bugged to enter my keychain password every hour or so. It's completely busted.
I've tried deleted the passwords and re-entering them. Also tried moving the passwords onto anothey keychain.
Can anyone suggest a workaround?

I'm have exactly the same problem. both my accounts are hotmail and even if i fill in passwords both in the pop up box and in pref -accounts it bounces!
I shall await with interest on a reply from apple!
