Keychain Corruption on Safari 10.4.0

This is my orignal topic:
I do not use .mac for email...just regular Yahoo, Hotmail, &
my ISP (Sonic).
My problem is I was able to send attahments: file or pictures
in the past.
Today, I found out that when I use my 3 emails (above), I
couldn't send out an email with attachments.
I was able to attach it and saw the attachment (picture)but
when I press send, it won't do anything?
So I trash all the Safari .plist, reboot, Disk Uility, Cocktail
...you name it...MacJanitor...nothing works!
I still can't send an attachment.
Help,
Peter Ng
NOW, I might have found the answer.

  • Keychain Problem with Safari

I have been having a problem with autofill and Safari that I have tracked to Keychain. If I enable autofill and press edit in the window of the prefs of safari then rather than getting all the websites that keychain has access to I get a swod and I have to force quit (safari uses 98% of both CPU's when in this state). If I remove the keychain file from /users/me/library/keychain/me then safari works fine.
I have repaired the keychain and it seems fine when verified and repaired but there must be a corruption somewhere. Has anyone an idea how this might be fixed without resorting to deleting the file and starting again. That would be too boring.
I might add that I have a new Intel MacBook PRO and this happened after I transfered all my user data to the new computer. Might this have something to do with it?

I have found the problem. There was an internet password that was causing the corruption. I copied the Keychains file to the desktop and then modified the one in my Keychains folder in the user Library until safari no longer crashed when pressing the edit button in the names and passwords prefs.
So I was able to, by elimination, find the offending file that was causing the hang. Slow and tedious. It is also worrying that the system was unable to determine that there was a problem with this one file.

  • Cannot find keychain to store safari

When i open Safari i get a dialogue box saying a keychain for saving "safari" cannot be found. I tried to use utility to repair but it would not work.

Hi, which utility did you try to repair what with?
    Was it this?
    See if this helps...
Open Keychain Access in Utilities, use Keychain First Aid under the Window Menu item, then either check the Password under Safari if it exists, change it, or delete it and start over.

  • Safari 5.0.6 plug-in html file corrupted (now Safari doesn't run)

Not sure how well I can explain this, as I'm definitely a novice!  Basically, Safari won't run or access certain websites b/c I'm guessing the html file for installed plug-ins is corrupt (Safari won't open the file file:///Applications/Safari.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/Plug-ins.html. While trying to open this file, I continuously see the spinning "wheel").  Also, interestingly, I can't open the website listing Safari's extensions gallery for the security options.  Safari will, however, let me access other sites (e.g., Apple Support).
This all started to happen the DAY after the following:  In the interest of better securing my machine and/or having Safari run less slowly, I'd installed and enabled several RECOMMENDED Safari extensions (e.g., Web of Trust, Dr. WebLink Checker, and Ad Blocker).  I'd also enabled ClicktoFlash and changed several preferences (to accept cookies only from sites I visit; unclicking "Enable Java"). Everything was working BEAUTIFULLY (must faster and, when visiting a site containing videos or banners, I could click FLASH to run Flash for videos/banners requiring it).  Then, just this a.m., I first discovered I couldn't SEE ClicktoFlash and then discovered I couldn't open the plug-ins html file. I couldn't get into Canvas (a learning delivery system) that I desperately need.  I've tried uninstalling the new Safari security extensions mentioned above, clearing Safari's cache and its history, restarting my machine, restarting Safari, and even resetting Safari.  I've also repaired my disc permissions and restarted the machine, restarting Safari, etc. Nothing works to restore the plug-ins html file.
My husband -- who is very proficient with MACs --  can't figure this out.  He did just install HIS version of Safari (same one for same OS) on my machine and disabled MY version of Safari.  Still having the exact same problem re the plug-ins html file.
HUGE SIGH and thanks tremendously for recommending a fix!! I'd really rather use Safari than other browsers.

Andy:  BTW, do you have any ideas about WHY the plug-in html file will no longer load in Safari?  As noted in my original query, this is what I'd done about one day before the plug-in file wouldn't load:  " I'd installed and enabled several RECOMMENDED Safari extensions (e.g., Web of Trust, Dr. WebLink Checker, and Ad Blocker).  I'd also enabled ClicktoFlash and changed several preferences (to accept cookies only from sites I visit; unclicking "Enable Java")."  Thanks for any hints you can share! • Issue with keychain access in Safari

Hello everyone! I have a strange problem. After I used the migration assistant in Mac OS X 10.5.6 my keychain has all my old passwords etc. but Safari doesnt fill the password field. It only fills the name of the user. For example I visit a webpage where I have to sign in as username "joe" and password "doe". Now in the field for the username "joe" does appear, but the password field stays empty.
When I delete "joe" from the username field and type it again into it, the field for the password is automatically filled out with the right password. How can I reset or refresh the keychain to work properly?!
    Thanks!!

  • Keychain issue with Safari

I am getting the following message in Safari every few minutes:
"A keychain cannot be found to store "Safari".
I have Office 2008 installed, I know there are some issues there.
I have tried the Keychain Health Check and also the option to reset the Keychain and nothing seems to make this message stop appearing.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Josh, Try moving the 'com.apple.keychainaccess.plist' file to your desktop (don't trash it).
Restart and see if that helps.
    HD/Users/yourhome/Library/Preferences/ com.apple.keychainaccess.plist

  • Please Help With Keychain Access and Safari Passwords!

    Hello,
I would like to take advantage of the capabilities that Keychain Access has to offer... I like how it can store passwords from websites. I have stored several website passwords in Keychain Access and currently have it set to where it asks for my keychain password when first opening Safari, and then it automatically fills in my passwords that are stored in Keychain Access in the corresponding websites. However, when I close Safari completely, the next time I open Safari it already has my passwords filled in, without asking for my keychain password. The only way I have found to make Safari ask for my keychain password every time it is opened is to select "lock all keychains" in Keychain Access. It is a pain to have to open Keychain Access every time I close Safari in order for Safari to ask for my keychain password again. Is there a more simple way to make Safari ask for my keychain password everytime I open Safari?

Hi, okwildthing. Welcome to the forums!
    Try this:
Open Keychain Access and find "Safari Forms AutoFill" in the list. Double-click it and go to the "Access Control" tab. (You may need to enter your keychain password at this point.) Remove Safari from the "Always allow access by these applications" list. Press "Save Changes."
Does this get Safari to do what you want it to do?

  • Keychain Corruption (and printing?)

Having just survived the corruption of a keychain, I feel the need to print all the passwords to then store in our safety deposit box.
Is there any way to print all the passwords?
    {PS: If you have two macs which are synced via .mac, make a copy of the other machine's keychain, then copy it to your injured Mac.}
G5 dual core, PB12   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Every one since the 128K 1984 Macintosh

Is there any way to print all the passwords?
Not directly. However, I have a simple AppleScript which I use to generate a list containing the name, account username, and password for each key in my login.keychain. I use this list as a backup for all generic and webpage keys. This works without a problem when run in Script Editor, prompting with a dialog box for approval to open each key, and continuing on to the end, producing the desired list, and saving it to the Desktop. Note that you'll have to manually edit the list to get rid of extraneous characters. i never bothered to script that part. I usually clean it up manually, reformat it by putting tabs between the categories, and copy it into excel where I can sort it. Enjoy.
    <script>
    set osXKeychainScriptingPath to ¬
(path to scripting additions from system domain as Unicode text) ¬
    & "Keychain Scripting.app:" -- one line
    set theSecuridPIN to {}
tell application "Keychain Scripting" to launch
tell application "Keychain Access" to launch
using terms from application "Keychain Scripting"
    tell application osXKeychainScriptingPath
set KeyList to every Internet key of current keychain
    repeat with aKey in KeyList
set theSecuridPIN to theSecuridPIN & (name of aKey) & ¬
(account of aKey) & (password of aKey) & return
    end repeat
    end tell
    end using terms from
tell application "Keychain Scripting" to quit
tell application "Keychain Access" to quit
    tell application "Finder"
open for access file (((path to desktop folder) as text) & "Passwords") with write permission
    set theFile to result
    write theSecuridPIN to theFile
    close access theFile
    end tell
    <end script>
Cut and paste it into Script Editor, compile it, and run it. I always select the right-hand option in the dialog boxes; either allow always or allow once, whichever is not grayed out.

  • Keychain corruption

I was, for a while, an admin for a school and suddenly, Mountain Lion would corrupt the keychain. Needless to say, I had a lot of angry students and staff. I had to trash their entire keychain folder in the user library, forcing them to re-enter all their passwords. Anyone know why this happened?

  • Keychain corrupt

I have just inherited an IBook G3 900mhz with OS X 10.3.9.  I am trying to get to the ITunes store and log in but it keeps giving me an error about my keychain.  What's up with that?  Obviously, I'm new to MACs.  Help please.

Ok, I have resolved the keychain issue by running the disk utilities.  I can now log into ITunes with my accoount and see my balance.  I cannot see or select any additional musick or apps because the only thing that comes up is the upgrade to ITunes 10.3.  I tried doing that but it tells me the file is corrupt.  The currently installed version of ITunes is 7.5, is it not compatible with the ITunes store?
    Thank you,
    Wade
