Keychain Issues -- iScrobbler password issues

I use iScrobbler to send my iTunes music to last.fm. It stores my password in a keychain item. Every time the keychain (login) has been locked, and I start to listen to my music, I get prompted for the keychain password for iScrobbler.
What's strange is that this even happens after I've unlocked the keychain again for some other reason.
The item has access control set to allow access to iScrobbler. It even happens when access control is set to allow access from any app.
I've tried deleting the item and having iScrobbler make it again, doesn't work. I've tried first aid, and it shows no problems.
Once it's got the password it never asks for it again until the keychain is locked (when the computer sleeps for example). It's just annoying.
Any ideas on a fix?
C2D MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

This is a follow-up to the original posting:
I read through some related posts and there was some advice to delete the keychain and then log in again and everything would reset itself. This is not the case.
I went to: Go>Utilities>Keychainaccess.app , then from the pull-down menu chose File>DeleteKeychain. From here you get the option of the following:
The "Delete References" option was highlighted in blue, so I chose it for no other reason than it seemed the suggested approach (I basically cannot find what the ramifications of the other option will do).
I then restarted my computer typed my login password and I was asked to sign into my keychain. I have no keychain password. If I do I have no recollection of what this is. How do I get around this and stop the keychain access requirements? Very frustrating at this point because I cannot sync my mail, calenders with MobileMe.
Interesting about MobileMe is that I can log on with my password online and on my mobile device via a browser, but cannot use that same password when I try to login via Keychain or to MobileMe settings via System Preferences. So it seems there is a unique password to which I am not aware and cannot figure out how to reset.
Any help / clarification would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks

  • Keychain Issue for the password for my mac account.

Keychain Issue. Keeps asking for the password for my mac account. When i type it, i keep getting "rejected the password. But it is the correct one. Verified in keychain access. "The .Mac server 'mail.mac.com' rejected the password for user XXXXXXXX. Please reenter your password, or cancel."
    Thanks in advance

But may I ask why you're using separate servers for in & out?
I don't know the answer to that. For many years, it's always been set up like that. I have never changed anything.
Should i delete the .mac mail account & set it up again? If so, What servers should i use for incoming & outgoing?
Keep in mind i'm having the same issue on my desktop & laptop, both running tiger 10.4.11, as far as they will upgrade.
I do have a laptop running Lion, but that shows an icloud account, not a .mac account like the older computers. It also has a bellsouth account with the password that is correct and a gmail account which is working fine.

  • I am running OS X 10.9.1 on a MacBook Air....I had keychain issues that I bumbled my way through - deleted and created a new Keychain....now a box appears pretty regularly, wanting my Keychain login....i enter it and it's accepted and the box disappears.

Help..!!  I'm running OS X 10.9.1 on a MacBook Air.  I had keychain issues with passwords etc and bumbled my way out of it by deleting the current keychain and creating a new one with a new log-in (yes, I wrote it down this time!)  But now these little boxes appear wanting my log-in ie. calendar, Safari, Outlook) and its annoying....entering the login gets rid of the box but what a pain and I know it's not right.....I know I need to enter somekind of automatic logins to these apps but how do I do that....and go easy on me, I'm not computer savvy.

Did you install the latest driver set for the device?  there is a new release on motu.com for mavericks.

  • Keychain issue (I believe)

    Hi all,
Last week my computer started acting up and rendered two of my most used apps unusable. Currently, iMessage does not work on my computer. Messages sent from my phone do not sync, and when I try and send a message from the app, it says that whoever I'm trying to send to is not registered with iMessage, even though they are. Also, my mail app cannot receive or send message and constantly prompts me for the password, which it always rejects. Keep in mind, both messages and mail are working perfectly fine on my phone. I think it's a Keychain issue because while i'm in Safari, i'm occasionally prompted to enter my admin password to unlock vague, non-descript keychains.
    Any ideas on a remedy?
    Thanks so much!

Update: I was able to fix my issue with mail by repairing the keychain and restarting the app, but I'm still having issues with iMessage.

  • Weird keychain issue

having issues with keychain involving saved passwords for 2 network drives. These 2 drives are also in my login items for the user so they automount.
i need to log into the 2 shares with a different user/pw combo, but when i unmount the volumes, remove them from login items, and delete the entries in keychain, then reboot......they show up in the login items, the shares automount, AND the keychain entries come back.....
i have done the same thing in another user, and have to check if that stuck, or reverted back, but i looked to see if there were any prefs for keychain to trash and didn't see any. it does seem like it is deeper though since the login items reappear, and they automount still..any ideas?

so does it happen on the other user? I can't understand if does from your post.
also, do you sync your keychain with mobileme? that could cause this.

  • All my browsers quit upon launch; keychain issue?

Strange problem, possibly a corrupted keychain issue; any browser I open in my main user; quits and goes poof. But I can open a browser in another user. I rebuilt my directory; repaired my disk; repaired perms...same prob. In one user it says login keychain missing but I can open browsers, but my login keychain exists where I can't open browsers... OK, it's very fricked up. Do I need to do a complete archive and install? Any other options? Thanks
ps Just discovered, I can open a page in main user; from a saved html icon; but not when I enter addresses in the url input field. Weird. Then it goes poof. Maybe its a problem with the url input field? A workaround seems to close it and use command L in firefox.
Already tried resetting my ACL from startup disk.

thanks; so in effect; are you saying that theoretically; the conflict ultimately is in one of the .plist files? If so, I could do some educated guesswork and remove suspected ones, one by one...?

  • How do I sign back in to iCloud on my Mac after signing out in order to fix a keychain issue?

I signed out of iCloud, following directions on how to fix a keychain issue with all my devices.  I was to sign them all out then sign back in on the one with the most info, which is my Mac.  I opened Preferences, then iCloud, but the button with "Sign Out" which I assumed would be a toggle does not produce an option for signing back in!  Help!

So the iCloud button in System Preferences still says "Sign Out"?
Yes, it is a toggle.  If it says "Sign Out", then you are signed in!  Sign out, then sign back in.

  • ISync & Keychain issues at startup

    Hi
I'm getting four or five popup Keychain messages when I boot my Macbook. One of them said this:
dmnotifyd wants to use keychain "login".
I'm pretty good at solving keychain issues -- have run Keychain First Aid, etc. (it reported nothing). Have repaired permissions, rebooted, etc.
Also, suddenly I cannot access the "Sync" portion of the .Mac preference pane. Beachball. Fun fun fun.
Any help appreciated. I'm close to moving to Google Calendar.... real close.

My GUESS is that either eDirectory/ndsd/LDAP isn't up and running at the point that nss/nam wants to load since both items depend on them.
You can check two log files:
/var/log/messages (look at the timestamps for when the server boots up and you'll be able to see the lines for where eDirectory loads and then NSS and namcd)
    and
    /var/log/boot.msg
Since it sounds like you can manually load/start them, it sounds like a timing problem to me. Is that correct, that you can manually start NSS and NAMCD?

  • Re: keychain issues

I am relatively new to Mac and therefore apologise if this is a question of ignorance. I am finding it difficult to understand how Keychain saves a password and then uses it to allow me to login without entering the password. I seem to have read somewhere that the system asked whether I want to save the password but that does not seem to be happening in my case. I have been setting up the password individually and some seem to work and others do not. For example Mac speech Dictate always requires me to login, despite the fact that I have meticulously entered this on to Keychain.
Can somebody please help me with this process as I'm sure that is something simple that I'm failing to do. Maybe it is something in the preferences that I have not fully understood and is prevented from doing what I wanted to do, which is simply to save me the time of remembering and putting in passwords!

Launch Keychain Access (in /Applications/Utilities/) and peruse its Help files. Since you're new, see these:

  • Keychain not saving passwords when told to do so

Lately I've been getting frustrated with my keychain. When I enter passwords, I check the box asking to remember the password in my keychain. Some passwords just won't stick, specifically my gmail password in mail and my mobile me password in iChat.
I've tried resetting my keychain and the problem persists. Any suggestions?
FYI: I was syncing keychains through mobile me between my MacBook Pro (which has the problem) and my iMac (which has never had this problem), but I turned off syncing thinking that was the issue. It wasn't.

I had this exact problem today. Mail.app was repeatedly asking me for passwords that it should have remembered. Another symptom was that when I ran Keychain Access.app, found the password for the email account, opened it and tried to "Show Password", it wouldn't let me. Then check box would briefly check then uncheck and it never prompted me for my password.
Other forum posts suggested that I needed to run Keychain First Aid in Keychain Access.app. I tried that but it found no problems. Another post suggested something about disk permission issues.
I noticed that ~/Library had 0700 permissions. In a terminal window I did: chmod +r ~/Library, then reran the Keychain First Aid. This time it found some problems, fixed them and everything started working again. I didn't want to leave the permissions on ~/Library too permissive so returned them to 0700 then ran Disk Utility repair disk permissions. It found a bunch of problems including something about ~/Library (although even after fixing then the permissions were 0700 so I don't know what it fixed).
Anyway I think the quickest fix is to:
    1) Repair permissions using Disk Utility.app
    2) run Keychain First Aid in Keychain Access.app
So give that a try and post back to let us know how it went.

  • Youtube messes up keychain for wifi password?

    Hi everyone,
I recently discovered something that leaves me wondering...
When I surf on Youtube, internet will stop working after half an hour / an hour. I'm still connected by WiFi, with the same signal strengh, but if I try to load any webpage, it just hangs in there.
The fix for me is to go to my keychain, delete the password for the wifi both in Login and System, restart the computer, and reconnect to my WiFi.
This happened a couple of times already and the correlation seems to be Youtube as I can surf on other websites that use Flash without having any issues.
I might add though, that I've been having a lot of Flash crashes in the last few days, whether using Firefox, Chrome or Safari.
So I thought I would share my fix with everyone and at the same time, ask the question: Is it really Youtube that's the origin, or is it Flash, or ... ?
I'm curious so let me know what you think!

But the hard drive is erased, so it allows commans+R to boot into internet recovery.

  • Keychain forgets Mail password.

Not sure if this is a Mail or Keychain issue.
Occasionally, when I send an e-mail, I get a pop up box that asks for the password. It offers to have Keychain save it, despite the fact that it's been saved. If I enter the password, it continues to give the pop up box asking for the password, the message can't be sent.
However, instead of entering the password, if I cancel attempt to send the message, then open the e-mail from the Outbox and click Send, it goes out without asking for the password.
This usually occurs the first time I try to send a message after waking the MacBook from sleep.
I've repaired permissions, to no avail.
Anyone know why this occurs and if there is an easy fix?

this is what i found in another forum.
it solved the same password - problem i had in Leopard, Mail 3.6
I found an article on Apple's KB that said to open Key Chain Access. Then, double click on your individual mail keychains and click on Access Control. Then click "Allow all applications to access this item." I did that for all of my mail keychain items and it seems to have worked.

  • With iCloud Keychain, no automatic password suggestion

Today I activated iCloud Keychain on my Mac and my iPhone. The system is generally working as it is supposed to, with one exception. On many sites (for example: outlook.com and yahoo.com), Keychain will not suggest a password. Is it because these sites are of the kind “that request passwords not to be saved”?
But an option is supposed to be present in Maverick as well as in iOS 7 to force Keychain to save passwords for these sites nevertheless. On Mac OS, this is: Safari >Preferences > Passwords > Allow AutoFill even for websites that request passwords not to be saved.
But on my Mac, as well as on my iPhone, these options have disappeared.
So, on some sites like the ones cited before, I cannot obtain a suggestion of password from Keychain (and have it saved at the same time), but if I type a password of myself, when I will log in to that site the next time, Keychain will offer to save the password.
Is this normal behavior? Where are gone the options to allow saving even when sites request not to?

Open Keychain Access located in HD > Applications > Utilities
    Select Passwords on the left.
Type in the name of the website top right corner of that window in the search field then delete that keychain.
Back to Safari. From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Autofill Tab.
Make sure:  User names and passwords is selected.
Now select the Password tab then remove the library website name.
Now login to the library website. Click Yes to save that data to a new keychain.

  • Restoring old keychain accounts and passwords?

    Hi,
I had major folder problems with my system HD that were pretty much irrepairable with anything else other than Disk Warrior. After repairing directories with DW, my system HD didn't have a recognisable version of 10.4 on it. So I went ahead and carried out an 'archive and install' installation of a fresh copy of 10.4. I've reloaded my old Safari bookmarks no problem, but I'm having problems with my old keychain accounts and passwords. In my 'Previous Systems' folder after the archive and install, I went to ~/Library/keychains and couldn't find anything in there to throw into my new keychains folder... am I looking for the right file? Does the com.apple.keychainaccess.plist file in my home help at all? I tried using the keychain first aid on the keychain access .app but it was no help.
Please can you help? I have a rather large keychain list that I really really don't want to lose!

For those who are referring to this thread for the reason of the OP (Restore after Archive and Install), the keychain file that you want for Safari bookmarks is in your User file, so you need not freak out about not having backed it up. It is there in your Previous folder. You may have to do something tricky with the file permissions, but maybe not.
Here is what I did. I opened the current Users/YourUserName/Library/Keychains and right-clicked the login.keychain and made a copy of it. Then I moved the original to the trash. Then I copied the old login.keychain over from the Previous/Users/YourUserName/Library/Keychains. At some point I had to authenticate the action (moving the default login.keychain to the trash?).
This is such a relief to not have to re-enter all of my u/p's all over the place. I'd changed several of them since my last backup, so it's inspiration to backup more often.
For the record, restoring after an archive and install, mostly consists of dragging files from one folder to a similarly named folder in the new user folder. Sometimes there are subfolders or files that can not be overwritten (like this one), where you want to backup, delete, and copy, and sometimes you'll just want to let it keep the new one. Sometimes it is a new folder and you can just drag the folder to the new position as well. I haven't even gotten into the depths of working out all the kinks, but I'm impressed with how much has been recovered so far given that I thought I had to start over at one point. I'm going to get everything freshly backed up before re-installing 10.6.2--not to worry!
