Keychain not recognizing some websites

Why does keychain not recognize some websites, the little popup asking for to save the user id and password into the keychain is not appearing.
For ex:
http://www.facebook.com/
http://login.live.com/login.srf (hotmail)

Presuming you have AutoFill enabled, in Safari preferences, save Usernames and Passwords, then I would suggest the consideration that some websites block this facility in web browsers to enhance security. These are usually financial / ebanking sites, but it may apply to others as well.

Latest version of SimplePass not registering some websites

I am troubleshooting an issue that I have with the most current version of HP SimplePass (v. 8.01.27) in Windows 8.1 and  Internet Explorer.
For some websites after signing in, I do not get the prompt to save the password.   Is this normal behavior for the SimplePass application?
Can someone confirm whether or not SimplePass is suppose to work on all websites requiring a username and password login?

It is frustrating, is it not? One would think there would be a definitive answer to a simple inquiry.
There may be such an answer; I doubt you will find it here.
In particular, the Series 8 HP SimplePass code might be a simplified version of a larger program written by Softex (Omni) that is provided for Enterprise contracts.   This is a personal observation based on nothing more than conjecture.
Assuming for the moment that this is indeed the case, the full blown, Enterprise program (for which companies pay a great deal of money) may indeed work differently. The algorythm used to detect website logins may be differently written and may be more sensitive to the many different methods that web designers use to integrate User Name and Passwords into a Web page. It may even be possible, given a fuller, more intellgent program, that one could use a User ID code along with the User Name.
More simply said: I suspect the HP SimplePass version of the program is "only so smart" and that the code used to read Website login code is only smart enough to read a limited number of Webpage login methods. If the Website deviates outside of those methods or if there are errors in the Webpage, then Poof! HP SimplePass fails to read the Webpage login.
Again, these statements are entirely based on conjecture and assumptions.
You are running Series 8 HP SimplePass.
The older, no-longer-updated, AuthenTec Series 6 HP SimplePass program might be a bit more robust than the newer Series 8 program. Although Series 6 is indeed "older" code, it was written by an entirely different set of programmers -- by a different company -- and it may respond differently to the same Websites. Series 6 HP SimplePass works with Firefox and Internet Explorer.
You can "Switch" Series; you cannot "downgrade". The programs are "hostile" to one another. You must remove Series 8 prior to installing Series 6.
There are not guarantees, regardless. Many computers, notebooks or desktops, can run either Series 8 or Series 6. Whether yours is one of these, is something you can decide to try. Joys and Burdens of being your own boss and all that.

Illustrator not recognizing some fonts and colors.

My recently installed Illustrator is not recognizing certain fonts and colors which is producing problems in my designs.
1. When I drag in a PDF to edit, the letters will appear as gibberish (random numbers, letters and signs) (the font was "arquitectura" which is installed on my OS X I Mac)
2. When I try to change the color of a font using the eyedropper tool, it shows the proper color in the color box, but the font remains black.
After googling it, these problems seem frequent back in 2009 but not so much today. Im thinking it has something to do with this, which prompts when I open the application:
"Your application install seems to be damaged, Please reinstall the application."

Obviously, you should. It is best to run the Cleaner Tool between uninstalling and reinstalling.

Used windows update, installed 8 updates, FireFox does not display some websites and images correctly.

Hello,
Windows update installed 8 updates to my computer and now several websites are not displaying images or text correctly. Some forum looks like they were loaded in an extreme basic mode, another forum main page looks fine but sub forums are loaded in in the same basic looking mode, another forum only displayed 1 user avatar out of hundreds.
Chat/IRC clients wont load.
Everything works when I used IE.
I tried to follow the help thingies but was led to a dead link.

If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a high value can cause issues like you described.

Time Machine Not Recognizing Some files as Changed ... Until I Restart

Yesterday I upgraded the HD in my Macbook Pro, and I used Time Machine to restore my stuff to the new drive. Worked like a charm, except...
First bit of strangeness: I noticed that Time Machine hadn't restored the most recent versions of some of my applications, e.g. OmniFocus, Transmission, Skim, and PTH Pasteboard. I checked my TM backup, and sure enough, it had not backed up recent updates.
I noticed that all those programs have one thing in common: built in updaters. The programs download and install the updates themselves. I used the built in updaters to get the latest versions of the above programs, then ran Time Machine. Time Machine did not back them up. Hmm...
Second bit of strangeness: Prior to my HD upgrade, I kept my iTunes Library on an external drive. After the upgrade I had enough space for my iTunes library on my internal. I changed the Library location in the iTunes prefs, then did a "Consolidate Library" in iTunes. It dutifully copied my 100+ GB of music to my internal drive.
I then did a "Backup Now" in Time Machine. It didn't recognize the that any new files had been added.
So I decided to restart my computer to see if that had any effect. Bingo! Time Machine recognized the new music files AND the programs I had updated.
Call me crazy, but this seems like a bug. Anyone else run into this problem?

I seem to have a similar problem except not solved by a restart. I have been creating and editing files today and plugged into my backup disc this evening and I cannot seem to get these files into the backup. In time machine they only appear in the Now screen.
I corrupted a backup by the power failing on the external disc during a backup, so I deleted the time machine folders for that Mac and started a new backup. That new backup does not appear to be progressing, although the time stamped versions are there.

TS1544 Keychain Issue - Blocking some websites, help!

I received an iMac G4 from a friend (10.3). I reset the Keychain using Keychain First Aid because it would not allow access to websites without a password. Now all sites are accessible except for a select few, like YouTube and Hotmail. I thought resetting the Keychain would fix the issue. How do I unblock sites? Thank you for any help!

It may well be that the only solution (for now) is to keep the zoom level at default (press CTRL+0 - that's zero - to restore it or go into ''View > Zoom > Reset''). I heard of other cases where zoom would make pages lag. This problem will be gone in Firefox 4, along with most (if not all) scroll problems. Firefox 4 beta is still not good enough for day to day use, but you can still [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html try it] if you want.

Firefox 6 does not display some websites correctly that is fonts and immage overlay one another.

Firefox 6 as with previous versions have a tendency to overlay fonts and images. This makes it difficult to read some pages. I sometime use Google and have problems with overlay. I prefer to use Firefox for its open source programming. Perhaps you can look into this and let me know details. If you would like I can send you a couple of websites so you can observe the problem.

Leopard not recognizing some hardware

On Tiger it recognized my Nokia 5200 but now... it doesn't and i can't transferee neither music to my nokia! anyone help me/

I made an appointment at the local Apple store for the Genius Bar to find out if it was some kind of setting or a glitch with Leopard. After escalating to a 3rd and higher genius , he figured out the problem.
in Tiger, any device connected would just see it as a storage device and it would mount on the desktop appropriately. With Leopard, it actually recognizes it as a camera, so you need to tell Leopard what you want to do when it sees your camera/device. The genius hooked up my camera to one of the floor iMacs and turned it on. He then opened up Image Capture in the Applications folder. from there, choose preferences and then choose what you want to do (open with iPhoto, Image Capture, other).
I went home and did this. Now when I plug in the camera, it recognizes it and opens it up in the application that I chose.

WRT54G Not Letting Some Websites Through

Hi I'm using a WRT54G some of the websites. I have taken the WRT54G out of line and the websites come up, then when the WRT54G is put back into line it blocks some of the websites. I have tried playing with the security settings and still have no luck. Is there any areas for me to look in and change? I'm running Windows XP and Norton Security and a cable modem. Like I said why I remove the WRT54G and run off the cable modem I receive the websites just fine... These are my wife's websites so I'm getting an ear full..... Thanks in advance.

Firefox will not open some websites. It pops up a window - Connection has timed out. I have tried clearing history & cookies but that does not solve it

DVD drive not recognizing some DVDs as readable

I have a brand new HP Pavilion dv6-6b47dx laptop, with Windows 7, and I'm running into an extremely annoying issue. When I try to play a regular film dvd, everything runs fine, but when I try to run a game dvd, results vary wildly....with older games, the drive has no problem reading and installing the game, but when I try to install a new game, like Skyrim or Red Orchestra 2, the drive simply does not recognize the DVDs and doesn't run the install. I'm at a loss as to what might be causing this. I bought this computer so I could take my gaming with me, but if it can't even read the latest gaming DVDs, what is it good for? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Safari not recognized by website-help

My Powerbook G4 cannot acess this site using Safari: http://newmls.gsmls.com/member/ It's a realty site. I checked with the site Admin and they seem a bit clueless. Claim they only support IE but aren't sure. I tried Firefox - didn't work. Any guru's out there have any suggestions? My wife needs it for a work application and as it stands I'd have to go out and buy a PC.... ack... HELP!!

You can change the user agent in Safari as well via the Debug menu, but all that does is change the calling card a browser uses when it accesses a site. It does not make the browser emulate the browser whose user agent you choose. ActiveX requires Internet Explorer for Windows - period.
Still, its worth a try in case this is one of the few real estate sites not using ActiveX.

New Pioneer DVD drive not recognized in profiler

I have used these forums many times to solve my problems so a big thanks to everyone who contributes. I've never had to actually ask a specific questions until now so here goes....
I have an e-mac running 10.3.9. My superdrive started to get flakey (not recognizing some DVD's, spitting them out, etc.). I followed all the advice here but no luck so I finally replaced the original drive with a Pioneer DVR-118. My problems still exist and the system profiler is telling me I have a Pioneer DVR-106. Did I do something wrong on the install? Shouldn't the profiler recognize the new drive?
A big thank you to anyone who can help me through this.

Since your computer's Apple Hardware Test is on a disc and the built-in optical
drive won't work, you may have to see if an external optical drive capable of
being used as a boot, is available. This of course would be a FireWire combo
type drive that can read & write DVD & CD media and boot Macs.
You may have to see if you can archive anything worth saving from that eMac
and put it on media via another computer; if the eMac can be booted into
Target Disk Mode where it is seen by another computer as a FireWire drive.
In fact, you could see (in a reverse scenario, perhaps?) if another computer's
optical drive could be used by your eMac, if a second healthy computer is
available & then boot it into FireWire Target Disk Mode to see if you can use
the optical drive in there as though it were a peripheral. - This may not work.
I've not had to really use FireWire Target Disk Mode, but do have cables,
and an externally enclosed LaCie FW HDD which is partitioned for clones.
There are times where a FireWire externally enclosed superdrive is handy.
There may be some damage on the logic board or some circuit that does the
controlling of ATA devices on one of the buses in the computer. That would
be a possible cause of the issue. If the identity of this drive can be changed
by the user before it is installed, be sure that is set correctly for use in eMacs.
{The three eMacs I've owned, had issues early on and I got rid of them in mere
days of first purchase; at considerable distance and effort by me. Then I got
an iMac which was an unholy terror to debug after an 'authorized service' ctr
did their best to kill logic boards and sell me defective store-brand RAM they
were authorized to install in a place I was not. ThreeThousand Miles and Six
Months later, I finally got my iMac back, repaired. Only because Apple told
them to read my test notes - & just install the parts I said it originally needed.}
Do you have a second Mac nearby (presuming yes, and using it online) which
may be used to attempta further diagnostic or testing of the eMac?
Not sure if an Apple Hardware Test would be sufficient to tell the issues in
your computer; if you have a way to make use of it via external FW. Hope-
fully someone with more extensive eMac and drive experience will advise.

ITUNES NOT ADDING SOME MUSIC TO LIBRARY

I updated my itunes and ipod to the most recent versions and now I have problems.
I'm losing patience and I am extremely angry.. My library and Ipod were working perfectly before the last update now I have major issues with Itunes not recognizing some songs that were already succesfully addedto my library.
Itunes no longer recognizes about 20% of the music in my library. I tried everything . Re-installs, re-adding folder, re-adding file etc... The only thing that has worked is deleting and re-adding the CD, BUT I REFUSE TO DO THIS FOR 100'S OF CD'S ALL OVER AGAIN !!!
ALSO ALL OF MY FILES WORK FINE IN WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER AND WIN AMP... IT IS ONLY ITUNES THAT HAS THIS ISSUE.
I want some one to tell me why all other software runs these files fine but itunes won't. I have way to many songs to go back an re-enter all my music. It would take me months to do this and I WILL NOT DO THIS.
I WANT A FIX !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am having the exact same problem. iTunes stopped playing about 20% of the songs that were previously imported into my music library. The songs are listed in the library, but when you click on them to play, nothing happens. They used to work perfectly. I deleted the entire library and re-added my collection, and those songs that stopped playing were not included in the new library. I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, then re-added my collection, and those songs were still missing.
The songs are still on my hard drive, will play in Windows Media Player, and will also play in QuickTime! I've tried ading the songs individually, adding the folders, double clicking on the song in Windows Explorer to see if it will play and be copied over...and nothing.
This is VERY FRUSTRATING!!!

Built-In iSight NOT RECOGNIZED after EFI Update 1.1

After updating to EFI 1.1 on my iMac 20 Inch (2,16Ghz) the built-in iSight-Cam is not
working anymore. It´s not showing up in the system profiler > USB Devices.
I bought the iMac last week, switched it on, the cam took a picture on the user account creation,
I applied the EFI-Update and OSX 10.4.8. After that the cam was gone.
I tried everything from resetting SMC, PRAM to reinstalling Combo-Update 10.4.8 ... NOTHING helped !
Any ideas or solutions ???
P.S.: Sorry for my crappy English, I´m writing from Germany !

Built-in iSight not recognized Some users have reported loss of their built-in iSights after applying the iMac EFI Firmware Update 1.1. In some cases, this issue can be resolved by resetting the SMC (system management controller) using this process:
1. From the Apple menu, choose Shut Down (or if the computer is not responding, hold the power button until it turns off).
2. Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power cord and any display cables.
3. Wait at least 15 seconds.
4. Plug the power cord back in, making sure the power button is not being pressed at the time. Then reconnect your keyboard and mouse to the computer.
5. Press the power button on the back to start up your computer.
Resetting PRAM can solve a variety of issues As mentioned in our coverage of recent EFI Firmware updates issued for other Macs, a number of potentially serious issues apparent after applying this EFI Firmware Update can be resolved by simply resetting PRAM/NVRAM via the following process:
Shut down your Mac, then start it back up while immediately holding the following keys: Command, Option, P and R. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the third time.
This workaround is a good first course of action before exploring more complex fixes. It should also be attempted if your system cannot properly startup after applying the update.
