Keychain passwords no longer work with lion

When browsing after upgrading to Lion, many of my passwords don't work any more.  When resetting a password for a site, I usually get a dialogue box to the effect "that password has been used recently, please select another."  The next time I log into the same site, I'm likely as not to get the same message "password incorrect," and must reset to a new password.  It gets old, and keeping track of the new passwords is a hassle.  I believe (but don't know) that key chain is responsible, but ...
Any ideas?

Had the exact same issue with my mini. I just reset the keychain. Basically removing all keychaines or saved passwords and starting over with having saved passwords for websites and system applications. If you go to Keychain Access in your Application's utility folder (easy: spotlight search keychain) then select File in the Menu Bar and then Delete Keychain. Those alerts for passwords will now go away.
**Added Note** This will delete all saved passwords. You just have to save them by entering them again.
Hope this helps.

  • My cisco vpn no longer works with Lion

After installing Lion, my cisco vpn no longer works. If I force boot in 32 bit mode it works fine, so appears to be a cisco client issue. Does anyone know if CISCO is working on  64bit client compatible with Lion?

Not sure this answer helps me or anyone else. My VPN connection no longer works in Lion. How do I re-set the parameters of my VPN connection to work in Lion?
Below is what my VPN screen look like:

  • My Quicken no longer works with Lion.  Any suggestions?

My Qucken no longer works now that I have installed Lion.  Any suggestions?

Visit Intuit for their solutions or find another application that works with Lion of which there are many. Quicken is supposed to be upgraded this year for Lion, but that's only the rumor.
You can also downgrade back to Snow Leopard or partition the drive and install Snow Leopard on a different partition provided you can install Snow Leopard on your Mac model
    Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

  • Surf stick no longer working with Lion

    Hi all,
first time I had a bad experience with apple products:
I have installed Lion straight away and unfortunately my 3G USB surfstick is no longer working. I have the T-Mobile Internet Manager 03 and no connection is available at all.
Seems it has something to do with the Novamedia Disk Suppressor. No longer supported???

    Well, heck.
I am so sorry you guys couldn't get through to me. you can email, [email protected] anytime for full support.
On the issue of Lion, and the XLR8 devices?
Apple did change a number of items, that limited the XtraView's ability (this is the one, with the built-in audio on the older 2820 chipset). Audio, just won't work in 64-bit mode.
The easy workarounds are to boot into 32-bit mode (hit 3 and 2) on boot.
To check if you are in 64 bit mode, go to the System Profiler (Apple Menu > More Info > Software (left pane) and see if the 64 bit is loaded.
If in 32-bit mode you are still having an issue, please check that you are running XLR8 version 1.4.6. You can download new versions at http://XLR8.com.
You can email XLR8 for a free audio cable (Mac sound jack to RCA audio), or for $25, XLR8 can upgrade you to the new 2860 device that works in 64-bit mode.
Now, that hopefully, we have you working again... about Daystar. Actually  XLR8 has always developed, built and shipped the devices. Daystar just had a bigger name and was an Apple Authorized Reseller. But, the Apple relationship ended, and Daystar closed.
XLR8, LLC will continue to support the devices and we will continue to provide great products and good support (sorry, we are a small company, and due to limited time... I can only provide "good" support. Maybe one day, it will be great.)
We are expanding the website at XLR8.com. You are always welcome to provide feedback and suggestions.
Oh, and lastly, thanks to Thiago, for sending me an email, and alerting me to the thread...

  • Printing Password NO LONGER WORKS with Snow Leopard!

Ive searched this forum and most people have the opposite problem I do. They want to disable password requests when printing, but I want them!
With Leopard, I was able to set up our networked color printer on every mac and students who logged in with their Active Directory accounts would then try to print but fail because they weren't part of the user group that were allowed to print to our color printer. When the password screen showed up, all I had to do was type in my account name and password, and the student's work would print. This was perfect for our lab set-up so we could supervise printing.
However, with Snow Leopard, this feature no longer works. The password box pops up but it doesnt matter what name/password is inputted, anything will print. By anyone. Yikes. My IT is not too happy and Im trying to find a way to fix this.
I saw Kiraly's tip on using Server Admin tools but it didnt work for us. Error 14071 something.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It could be falling back to Kerberos authentication, where passwords aren't needed every time. I'd suggest telling your IT people to disable kerberos on the Windows Server. If Windows is allowing users to access services with the wrong username and password, then that bug needs to be sent to Windows as a security vulnerability.
Otherwise, if they narrow it down to a problem on the Mac side, tell them to submit a bug to Apple.

  • Video capture no longer working with Lion

Does anyone know why USB video capture (XLR8 USB 2.0) would no longer capture audio with Lion.  It worked great at importing old VHS home movies to my Mac before the upgrade to Lion and now, while I can still see the video, I no longer hear audio.  Anyone have any ideas?

  • My photoshop no longer works with lion, any solutions?

my photoshop and microsoft office no longer works since i upgraded to lion, and suggestions plz?

Lion doesn't support Rosetta PPC based programs, you either need to FIRST check with your third party software before upgrading a operating system or have a easy means to revert to a earlier OS version.
You can look though my extensive post here and find various ways to go back to Snow etc.

  • Password no longer works with encrypted disk image.

I have an encrypted disk image on my macbook pro. I enter the password every time I open the disk image. Last week it stopped accepting the password. I checked in keychain where I'd saved the PW when first creating the disk image and verified I was entering what was saved there. It matched what I've been entering but still no luck. I attenpted to pull an old version of the disk image from time machine and that still won't open with what I know is the password I've always used.
    Any tips?

try doing SMC reset the following article tells how to do that:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
after doing this reset try again to enter the password for the disk image, if it still doesn't work there is no way to bypass the passcode on the disk. the following article talk about filevault:

  • Home Sharing in iTunes no longer working with Lion....

Anyone else having this problem?? I have not seen it as a topic.
We have 2007 iMacs so chips do not support Air Drop. However, I would not think Air Drop would be required for home sharing in iTunes.
Moving to Lion has not been a very good experience for me so far with peripherals, but to lose home sharing in iTunes on top of it... I don't even want to finish this sentence.

I just discovered that after the iTunes update and the Lion update, my iTunes wouldn't update anything except what was in the library already.  New songs, apps, movies all equaled bupkiss.  I went into advanced settings and saw that my library location was blank.  I'm using an external drive for my music.  So there's a bug, since it would play everything thing in the library but was unsure where the library was so that it could write to it.  I just relocated my media drive and now sharing and updating the library works fine.

  • HT3775 AVI Home Video no Longer Works with Lion

    Hi Everybody,
I have quite a few hours of AVI files (family footage dating back to early 70's transfered to avi from Super-8). This worked before I updated to Lion. Now I get the message "The document xxxxxxxx.avi” could not be opened. A required codec isn't available."
I don't understand why this now doesn't work. When I click on "Tell Me More" option avi is one of the files listed for Quicktime so...
    Can anyone help with this?
    Cheers

As Ogelthorpe above mentioned, the Free VLC Player works fine for that:

  • Microsoft Word No Longer Works With Lion?

It says something like "You can't open Microsoft Word Because Power PC Applications are no longer supported."
This just happened after updating to Lion. Is there anything I can do?

Return to Mac OS X 10.6.8, or upgrade Office to 2008 or better, or use a third-party product such as OpenOffice, or run Mac OS X Server 10.5 or 10.6 through a program such as VirtualBox.

  • Help: My password no longer works, and I am unable to log in with my Apple ID

I have a macbook pro, and it has failed to start up for a few months until now.  When I get to the log in screen, my old password no longer works.  When I then try to reset it using my apple ID and password, an error message appears saying it cannot connect and to check my internet connection, but it gives me no option check or change the connection when this window is up.  Additionally, I have tried going into recovery mode and restoring from a backup I have on an external drive which did not work, and reinstalling Yosemite all over again, but I get a message that the disk is encrypted and asks for the password (again, a problem).
If anyone has any advice on something new I could try I would greatly appreciate it!

    Hi chc517,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your MacBook Pro. I also apologize, I'm a bit unclear on a couple things about your specific configuration. The message you mentioned about the disk being encrypted would seem to indicate that you may have File Vault enabled. If that is the case and you are having a login issue, you would need to use the File Vault recovery key to reset your login password instead of your Apple ID, as noted in the following article:
OS X Yosemite: FileVault recovery key

  • Apple remote no longer works with mountain lion

The apple remote that was quite happily working with Lion no longer seems to be working with mountain lion.
I've checked with at least 3 other apple remotes I have and none of them seem to want to pair.
    I've been able to pair them with another mac running Lion, but when going to the pair option under;
    Preferences--> Security& Privacy --> General --> Advanced -> Pair
Pressing the menu and next for more than a minute gives me nothing on any of the remotes.
Anyone else having issues pairing with mountain lion?
*Note, each of the remotes quite happily will

I thought I had a problem pairing my aluminium Apple remote with EyeTV, but all turned out fine.
When I clicked Preferences --> Security & Privacy --> General --> Advanced --> Pair a message told to press the "Menu and Next" buttons until the remote paired with the computer. At first, I assumed this meant that I should press the two black buttons underneath the main, circular control, but nothing happened.
Then it struck me that the "Next" button might mean the right arrow on the main, circular control, so I held down this while holding the Menu button (the smaller button, below and to the left of the main, circular control), and the remote paired within a few seconds!
I don't have one of the older, white Apple remote controls to test this idea with, but something similar may also work with that remote.

What version of word do you have? The TS3938 sounds like it's a PowerPC app- written for an old architecture that is no longer supported in Lion. If this is the case, your files are fine- you just need a newer version of word that will run in Lion in order to open them. The newest version (2011) should be readily available anywhere, and has worked fine for me ever since I switched to Lion on release day....
