Keychain passwords not recognized

Ever since the new update, the password and autofill functions of safari do not work. Each time I go to a site it asks me if I want to save the password. Safari, or the keychain, is not working properly. I reinstalled OSX and still no fix. The password is unlocked, I have created a new keychain, and done everything suggested in the discussions. anybody have a clue?

I'm with you on this problem.
And since no one has posted a reply, I'm guessing everyone is still stumped or they have not noticed that this is occurring.

  • ID and password not recognized

I have an iCloud account and everything was super until two days ago. I, by mistake, deleted the user Library directory so the Mac said "An error occourred. You can't log in" or something like that. I re-installed lion and now, when I try to log in in the iCloud "tab" on System Preferences, the Mac says "ID or Password not recognized, try to log in after a whiile" or also "You're already logged in" or "I cant' send a new verification mail, there's a problem with the server".
With my iPhone end with the other installation of lion on an other HDD (but also on www.icloud.com) everythig is ok.
I have two HDD: an SSD where I put system files and in the other there is my home directory. I use symbolik link in order to have the user library on the SSD. I think I messed up with permission because I use my old home directory with this new user (for example I need the password just to delete a file from the "Download" directory...)
Sorry for my bad english and the long post...
    Thank you everyone!

  • Admin password not recognized!

My Administrator password is no longer recognized! This is the same password that I have had for years. What can I do to change it back to what I had before? Will I have to save everything and reinstall in order to change it?

OK. I got my admin password changed. Thank you. Now my keychain is not recognizing my password either. I can't unlock the keychain to change it without the password. Now what?

  • HT202274 Password change old password not recognized after 10.9.5 upgrade

    God bless you, peace.
macbook pro 2012 user password not recognized after 10.9.4 too 10.9.5 upgrade plus tech work at apple.
I want to change user password, it is allowing me to get into user account and admin account on computer but I recently changed it for the tech work to be done. I would like to put the password back now to old password or a new one but... The few days old new password pre update and pre tech work is not being accepted to allow me to change to another password.
recent update, after 10.9.4 to 10.9.5 update and apple tech work done.
    1. Tech work replaced optical drive,
    2. 10.9.4 to 10.9.5 upgrade left computer endlessly booting up, then got into finder window tried to read backup drive and screen went to black curser and could not backup information as techs decided may need to be done before I left it with them.
    3. Also track pad was not (is not again) selecting text to drag unless real hard press and then only intermittently would select text or just drop the selection (not hold the selected text after a long scroll select, did work at first after tech work but back to not working). It is still not responding easily when pressed, but it is much better, as they did something with software they said. Today While typing this I am trying to select words misspelled and it does not select them unless I press not as hard it is becoming the same as before I see now, sometimes less pressure is needed but more than should be used.
I noticed today after tech work The Spell check is not responding with a two finger tap on the red underlined misspelled words without multiple try's with two finger tap. The curser moves around after selecting words also, or when selecting words so hard the curser moves to another place not on the desired words or check box. The curser arrow tip should select the word but it does not recognize unless I put the tail of the arrow onto the word then it recognizes the misspelled word for spell check on two finger gesture.
It looks like I need to take it back, I tried to call and check to confirm if the track pad intermittently and curser adjustment was serviced. In order to verify I had called three times to get that information to no avail. endless looped in the phone que, one would answer take info and then forward me to a endless loop dial ing phone that never was picked up, supposedly at the Bay street store tech section. Phone voice mail from apple support status on the repair, ...Juliano from Bay Street Apple repair store Emeryville, ca left a voice message... just generically said optical drive replacement is successfulI, I noticed right away three items were to be addressed but only the optical drive was mentioned, so I called three times to try and verify the other problems. One whole minute just to select this text and copy it to notes for a backup. It would not select at first, then after selected it would not copy it, then it would not paste to notes, it paste the last cut and paste I did 10 minutes ago.
I do not have a easy excellent wifi connection for my wifi only phone and would prefer email or chat for repair help. apple Repair No: R142180337

Try running the combo update. It fixes more files/data than the App Store upgrade.

  • Wifi password not recognized

    hi,
I'm really going crazy with my iphone.
since a software update last week, my wifi connection at home is not working anymore.
I've tried everything described on the support side and things I found here in the forum, as
    1. Tap Settings > WiFi > Other network
    2. Enter the name of the network you are trying to log onto
    3. Tap Security and tell the iPod what type of security the network is using
    4. Tap Password and enter the network password
    TRIED - PASSWORD NOT RECOGNIZED
If this still doesn't work, reset your network settings (tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network settings and try the steps above again once the iPhone restarts.
    TRIED - PASSWORD NOT RECOGNIZED
my router at home is from linksys...
as I said, until last week, it worked properly without any problems...
now, the iphone only finds my wifi and asks for the password and after typing it I always geht the info, that network connection failed...
I have no ideas anymore what I can do and would highly appreciate your help

Have you experienced a problem connecting to any other wi-fi networks that you have access to since installing firmware update 3.0?
If not, have you checked Linksys's website to see if a firmware update is available for your wireless router model that you haven't installed?
Have you tried re-setting your wireless router? If not, disconnect any computer(s) from your wireless network - turn wi-fi access off or power your computer(s) off. Turn your wireless router off followed by turning your modem off. Wait a few minutes followed by reversing this. Power your modem back on allowing it to completely reset followed by powering your wireless router back on allowing it to completely reset with the modem. This one may be a long shot, but you never know.

  • Keychain passwords not recognised

    Hi,
We have over a hundred 10.5 clients bound to open directory and active directory, OD for MCX management, AD for authentication.
When using various apps, particularly safari, a dialogue pops up asking for the keychain password, which would normally be the user's password unless manually changed?
However this does not work, so does anyone know if there is an issue using active directory passwords with the keychain?
It makes autofill etc unusable and confusing when users wonder why their passwords have not saved...
    Thanks in advance, Thomas.

I believe the login keychain is created when a new user account is created, not from a template, using the password chosen for the account. This is the case when creating a normal local account, but we are in a windows based environment, and before the inclusion of macs on the network, users already had network home folders. When the user first logged into a mac (which are using network home folders) os x created the 'system' folders in the home directory (documents, library, music etc). This is the point where a keychain is created, but I am unsure with what password.
Yes, it is not normally part of the template. But if it's there, it will be used.
I could reset the keychain by setting a login script to delete it, but when a user changes the AD password these changes are not mirrored to the login keychain. So the script would be required to be used whenever the password changes, the keychain must be reset, causing data to be lost.
No need to delete the keychain for a password change, just change the password for the login keychain. As long as they know their old password, this should work. You could also look into deploying "Keychain Minder" from afp548.com which is specifically for this purpose. It runs as a login item and will notify the user if the account password and keychain password don't match.

  • KEYCHAIN PASSWORD NOT RECOGNISED

Since installing Snow Leopard Keychain will not open as it says the password is wrong but I am 100% certain the password I enter is correct. I have not changed it from the password used before I installed Snow Leopard. This is a major problem as I cannot access all the vital information stored in Keychain. Can anyone suggest a solution or should I restore the system to the state it was in before Snow Leopard was installed? I have tried opening Time Machine and selecting restore but nothing seems to happen. I have several other problems with Snow Leopard I regret installing this new OS very much.

Do you have a login password for your user account? I've noticed sometimes after upgrades my keychain password is switched to that and I have to reset it. I agree after upgrades there's usually a number of issues that need resolution and it can by time consuming identifying and fixing the problems.

  • After restoring iPhone 4S, Login password and Keychain password not working!!

    Hey!
So last night my Girlfriend restored her iPhone 4S running iOS 7 as new to fix a battery issue she was experiencing. Before doing this she went through and backed up her photos using iPhoto. She then restored the iPhone as new and when it had completed attempted to login to the mac as it had locked itself due to inactivity. Unfortunately she wasn't able to login and waited until I got home so I could try the password.. When I did get home I tried to login using the password but it didn't work. At that point I realised something had gone wrong so I tried all of my other passwords I had previously used with the mac as well as my Apple ID. None of them worked. At this point I booted to the Recovery 10.8.2 Partition and reset the password using the Password Reset Utility.
I then logged in and attempted to update the Keychain Password (This was the default "Login" keychain so it should be the same password as the Users password.). It didn't accept it so I went through and created a new Keychain to test if Keychain Access Application was working. It accepted the new keychain and I could operate the Application as if nothing was wrong (There was something wrong though, all of my passwords for many websites were stored in this keychain). I then removed the reference to the keychain and moved the keychain file from ~/Keychain folder to the desktop. I then reimported the Keychain and it still did not accept the password.
I called AppleCare to get a second opinion and spoke with a Senior Advisor who told me to just start a new one. I don't mind starting a new Keychain as I know the passwords for the main websites I browse, HOWEVER, I'd like to see if anyone knows what may have happened so I can perhaps prevent this from happening again.
    Thanks in advance,
    Nathan Freeman

    Tlix!
Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I'm quite aware that the restore of an iPhone should not have impacted the login password/keychain password. This thought has been further concreted after consulting a few of my Apple Fanboy buddies who are fairly experienced in troubleshooting issues relating to Mac computers. In regards to try a blank password, I've actually had the exact same thought and will be trying this tonight. I'll be sure to post the results of this to let you know what happens.
Unfortunately I haven't gotten round to making a TM backup of my device, primarily due to my current lack of an external HDD.
    Thanks,
    Nathan Freeman

  • Cannot install program, password not recognized

I am not able to install, the password doesn`t match

If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then possibly the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise, boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    resetpassword
That's one word with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window opens.
Select your boot volume if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
Select  ▹ Restart from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but you won't be able to unlock the Keychain. If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it. You’ll need to reset your keychain in the preferences of the Keychain Access application.

  • WEP Password Not Recognized

trying to help my son set up Linksys WRT546. Wireless works fine if Security Mode is Disable, but when I set to WEP and enter a password, generate and save, and then try to sign on the network, I keep getting invalid password. I can then switch security mode back to Disable and name appears w/o password protection, but at least works.
Why isn't the password I am entering on the Wireless Security site, not recognized?
    thanks,
    Armando
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
If you are gonna use WEP, just type anything in the PASSPHRASE field and then copy the KEY 1, because that will serve as your PASSWORD. If you use 64-bit WEP, it will generate a 10-character password as you can see on Key 1-4. But, if you want to use your own password and not let the router generate one for you, please select WPA instead. Please refer to the link below.
Setting-Up WEP, WPA or WPA2 Wireless Security on a Linksys Wireless Router
    Hope this helps.
