Keyframe Issue Motion 3 - bezier keyframes turned into linear

Hello,
I have made a camera movement with a few behaviors and converted it into keyframes.
It took me a very long time to adjust the (bezier) keyframes, but I ended up with a really nice and smooth movement.
My problem is: when I quit my project and open it again, the curve of the parameters seems like one with linear keyframes. When I select a keyframe, the interpolation IS actually bezier. But there are NO tangents.
My solution is to use the Reduce Keyframes... tool on every curve and increase the Smoothing Factor. But it doesn't exactly recreates the curve I made before quitting.
Does anybody recognize this problem?
Bram

Hi, that must be the problem!
After unlocking the camera layer (and individually locking the keyframes, don't want to mess up my work) and restarting Motion no strange things happened.
With Google I couldn't find any reports of this error, but thanks for the clarification!
B.

  • Flash CS5 crashes while inserting a keyframe in Motion Editor

When I try to insert a keyframe in Motion Editor, Flash CS5 crashes.
I tried to use two computers running the same Mac OS X 10.5.8 with the same specs and only one of the machines crashes.
    Any ideas?

Is it any FLA on that machine?  As in, you can open a brand new FLA with nothing in it, draw a square, turn it into a tween, and inserting any keyframe in the motion editor crashes Flash?  That said, since you cannot reproduce on another system that's identical, it sounds like something went wrong in the install process.  I'm not sure what it might be, as we haven't encountered that kind of problem internally (or a crash on property keyframe insert).

  • Ease in/ease out motion panning keyframes

this seems to be very difficult to accomplish. does anyone have a method to do this sucessfully
take photo and pan it from left to right, or up and down, it starts at slow and smooth gets moving (not too fast) and slows down to a beautiful stop at end. i understand you make the move with keyframes and then go to your canvas window and ctrl click to choose "ease in/ease out" - now i would think it would just make a bezier automation like it does with "smooth" for scaling, but it doesnt, it makes the picture bounce or it makes it speed up crazy and stop ubruptly, then i notice you have to grab this second green dot to adjust the velocity but even that doesnt work smoothly either, has anyone mastered this?

    thanks
    adam

    Adam,
The best way I've found to work with the Bezier keyframes is to temporarily enlarge the Canvas window in order to see what I'm doing (100% to 200%). With the Canvas window in Image+Wireframe mode, once you've set the Center keyframes you should see the green motion path. When you add the "ease In/Ease Out" you should see the purple Bezier handles overlayed on the green motion path. Notice the two larger purple dots on each Bezier handle; changing the position of the larger purple dots will change the behavior of the easing move.
It will take a little practice and experimentation, but you should be able to learn the relationships between the dot positioning and motion behavior fairly quickly.

  • KEYFRAMING IN MOTION

I am running into a couple roadblocks when im keyframing in motion
sometimes it allows me to "add keyframe" and sometimes the option is greyd out...i cant tell what the criteria are to allow me to add a keyframe
    also
could anyone tell me what the keyboard shortcut for adding a keyfram is if its not on an apple keyboard
    thanks

Jon, if you look in the manual, you'll see that the shortcut for add keyframe is CTL+K. However, I've not found that very helpful as it adds keyframes only to the last modified parameter of the selected object. Since you can modify lots of different parameters for any particular object, using that shortcut can be troublesome.
Instead, what I prefer is to OPT+CLICK the keyframe indicator for the parameter I'm trying to change in the inspector (it's the little dash to the right of the parameter).
If you make sure that the record keyframes function is on (A), then simply changing a parameter will place a keyframe.
Also, don't forget about behaviors. It's not quite intuitive to those of use who learned on Avid, FCP, and After Effects, but if you can open your mind to it, behaviors can create some really complex movements without using keyframes at all. It's probably one of the most powerful features of Motion.

  • FCX & FCP:  Keyframing and Motion Path

I need to find out if keyframing and motion paths are accomplished pretty much the same way in FCP as in Express. Someone is going to help me with keyframing and motion paths but works only with Final Cut Pro. Anyone know if that will be a problem?
    Thanks.
    Lee

Your FCP person should know how to do this in FCP.
I believe he does, and I think I can figure out that part of it (eventually) in FCX.
The "walking forward" means that, at the same time the image is scaling up, the right front lower corner of the image moves forward, then the left front lower corner moves forward, etc giving the appearance of the image "walking." I don't know if that makes any sense. What's more, I don't even know if it is possible in FCX.
It was suggested I start the image as a square or rectangle and change it into a trapezoid giving the illusion of its "moving." While I understood it as a theory when explained, actually doing it in FCX is another story.

  • I have an iphone 4s that is having display issues. If I turn the phone on, it vibrates to acknowledge it successfully turned on but the screen stays solid black. I can plug the phone into my computer and itunes will recognize the phone as well.

I have an iphone 4s that is having display issues. If I turn the phone on, it vibrates to acknowledge it successfully turned on but the screen stays solid black. I can plug the phone into my computer and itunes will recognize the phone as well. However, itunes can not do anything with the phone because the phone is locked and I can not unlock the phone because the screen is black.
    >CURVEBALL!!!<
The screen does work though! Through trial and error along side a little troubleshooting, I was able to figure out that the screen will cut on after the phone dies completely. The phone has to die completely with no battery power left. Then if I plug the phone into a charge and wait a while for it to charge, the phone will turn on like nothing was ever even wrong with it. I charge the phone up to like 30% and turn it off then bam the phone turns on but the screen is solid black again.
I am currently in the process of waiting for the phone to die and when I turn the phone back on I am going to completely remove the auto-lock and lock code off of the phone for the time being.
    Any other suggestions? Please help!

Sounds like the device was dropped at some point and damaged as a result.
Take it to Apple for evaluation and a replacement.

  • Premiere Motion:Position keyframes ghosted

I am new to editing in Adobe Premiere, and am running CS5. I am attempting to create a Flash banner that features a short segment of video content.
I am attempting to animate a small pan, moving my movie clip up slightly and then to the right.
I set my clip to Motion:Position expecting to be able to Keyframe the motion of my clip. However the Keyframe control, whilst present, is ghosted out.
How do I Keyframe the position of my movie clip?
    Any and all help appreciated.

Click on your clip, move the timeline to the start of the move sequence and then in your Motion>Position
click the clock to the left of the word Position. Move the time line along to the
position you want the movement of the clip to end and then either change the coordinates in Motion>Position or grab the video in the Program Monitor and move it to the desired place.

  • Strange issue with a users meeting turning into a appointment.

So we have a user that is administrative assistant to many executives.
Today they created a meeting today and invited a few people. (for whatever reason, the user has themself as a shared calendar. Not sure if they created the meeting under their own shared calendar for themself or not)
sometime later they decided to add another user to the meeting, but the meeting no longer had attendees and turned into an  ppointment instead.
The previous attendees still have their meetings with all the correct info(minus the user they tried to add)
Also when checking the OWA vs the CLIENT,  you can see the sent email/invite in Outlook 2011 (yes its a mac they're using) in the Sent folder.  However, it was not in the Sent folder in OWA, and instead it was in the trash.   The one in the
trash in OWA however, instead of containing the original users as the attendees, contained the New user they were trying to add.(all based on the time the original invites were sent out)   The first invite was sent out @ 1:30pm while the new user invite
was (a completely different meeting invite due to the original not being there as a meeting) was sent out at 2:30pm.
Is there any way to sort of monitor or track this sort of transacation?  A few users in question always seem to have these sort of strange issues.

    Hi,
According to your description, I understand that:
    1. There is a delegate set for several managers.
    2. The delegate created a meeting with some attendees for a manager and all attendees received it successful in Calendar.
    3. When the delegate sent a meeting updates, the attendees in organizer’s calendar were missing and there is no updates in attendees’ calendar.
Is it right? If I misunderstand, please point it out.
Please check whether there are any mobile devices used in receiving or accepting the meetings. Please confirm whether all attendees in organizer’s calendar are also missing in OWA. we can stop using any mobile devices and try creating new meeting then sending
updates in OWA to try whether the issue persists.
Additionally, please refer to the following articles for more information about Best practice when when using the Outlook Calendar:

  • Keyframing Issue...

If you place a keyframe on any parameter in the transform section and then go forward in the timeline and adjust the parameter, FCP X automatically adds a new keyframe.  However, this does not seem to bear out when keyframing effects.  At least not for me.  To keyframe effects I have to set a keyframe, move down the timeline, set a second keyframe, and then adjust the effect.  This feels like a bug, or at least an extremely irritating feature but I wanted to confirm it before sending info off to Apple.  Make sure it wasn't my system.
    Andy

You need two keyframes... the second keyframe set the duration for the transition from old value to the new value. If you don't want a timed transtion set the second keyframe to the next frame following the first keyframe... It's like this in any program that uses keyframes (FCP, Motion, After Effects).
(I may not understand your question. Are you saying when you add something like a filter FCP X adds a keyframe? It shouldn't do that...)

  • Keyframes and motion control

I would appreciate sources of information that would explain Motion Effect/Keyframes to a nonprofessional.  I have read three books and can't get an understanding.  For an example:  If i change the motion controls position from 360 725 to 360 240, what am I doing?  I would appreciate any help or reference material.  Arnie

First, here is a TUTORIAL on basic Keyframing. It was written for an earlier version of Premiere, not Elements, but covers the basic theory.
Now, in your example, think of the Video Frame as a picture frame. It is fixed on the wall, and you have a picture inside of it, but can see nothing outside of that frame, only what is inside of it. What you are doing with Effect>Motion>Position is moving the picture behind that Frame. Same with Motion>Scale. Now, with keyframing, you can alter the position of your picture behind the frame over time.
    Hope that this helps.

It sounds like it could be a font issue.  Are you sure you are using a font in Pages which is present on the iPad?

You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "VSearch" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/Jack.plist
Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
    /Library/Application Support/VSearch
    /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/Jack
    /System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot" or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
This trojan is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.

If you try all these Steps and you still have issues... Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step... Be sure to make an appointment first...
