Keyframe Video Generator

Hi All,
I'm using a video generator -- a circle, to isolate something on another track. Can i keyframe the video generator so i can make the circle bigger? or is there a better way to do this? THANKS

1) You dont have to make the color matte semi-transparant .. that is up to you ... usually people do that if they want to hi-lite one subject while dimming out others
2) You apply Mask Shape to your color matte. When you first do that, you need to invert it so the image below is featrued; there is an Invert button you click
3) What you keyframe is the color matte on V2. Using the Wireframe handles in the canvas to "pull" this matte out so it is far larger than the video frame. Now use the Mask Shape filter you applied to adjust your oval or square or whatever to fit your subject. Use Motion Keyframes to move the Color Matte (as opposed to the Mask Shape Filter) around to follow your subject
For more info on Motion Keyframes consult you manual, your online Help and search this forum

  • How to change default settings for a video generator?

I'm using a video generator (Lyric Media's Pan Zoom Pro) many times in the same project, and have to change the default settings for each new instance of the generator that I create. I'm wondering if there's any way to change the default settings for a generator (i.e., length of clip, individual slider and checkbox settings in the "controls" tab) so that each new instance automatically has my customized settings when I first open it.
    Thanks.

That works for the all the controls/filter settings. The clip length still defaults to 10 seconds, but that's OK, since the main thing I was looking for was to change the clip's internal settings. Thanks for your help

  • How use video generator ni5431 with visual c++

    i use a ni5431 video generator with visual c++.
i generate a ccir signal and i want to modify attributes IMAGE_TOP, IMAGE_HEIGHT and IMAGE_WIDTH. When i change one of these attribute with VDG_SetAttribute(****,int) i can't obtain a signal.
    Thank you for your help.

Proably the reason this question has gone so long without an answer is that the Vision forum only covers our NI Image Acquisition hardware (along with all NI Vision software), and not our signal generator hardware. That hardware is covered in the Signal Sources forum under the Measurment Hardware section, which is serviced by a different set of Enthusiasts and experts. If you ask your questions there, you should get a quick response.

  • Applying Lens Flare Video Generator

I am a brand new user to FCE 4 and am trying to apply the Lens Flare video generator effect to a clip. I see how to customize the effect settings and have that all set up. The problem is basically 'mixing' the effect with the clip. When I apply the effect in the Viewer, all I see in the Canvas when I play the movie is the effect itself and not the underlying (or accompanying) action in the video clip. Essentially, I want to recreate a photo flash and have that quickly 'flash' and fade in my video clip. Any ideas on how to apply the lens flare so I can do this? Thanks.

Lens Flare is a filter. What you seem to want is a transition. Try putting in Dip to Color, adjusting the color to white and really shortening it up
Or Google a free FCP filter (works in FCE) called Flashframe, I think by Too Much Too Soon

  • Unsmooth Edits over Photos-- Multiple Video Generated-Text FX

I apologize if there is already a thread regarding this issue but I looked and couldn't find one.
This is so basic but here's goes...
The problem is when more than two (Video Generated) Text effects are layered on top of one another and one of the layers begins or ends, the video underneath pops back in and out of focus, respectively.
    To recreate my problem:
    1) Place a still photo on the first track (V1)
    2) Open the Effects Menu and create text by using Video Generator --> Text--> Text
    3) Place text on V2, a couple of seconds into the timeline so that V1 & V2 are staggered.
    4) Repeat (2)
    5) This time place the new Text effect on V3 and stagger it a few seconds after the other Text effect and make it shorter.
(The sequence should have a triangular appearance.)
    6) Note: a bump/unsmoothness at the beginning and the end of the top clip (on v3).
Anyone know how to fix it?
    Thanks.

Bizarrely, not all of my photos cause this problem. Photos that I scanned myself are fine but those that I pulled off the internet (which are in the same format as the ones that I scanned -- "Photo-JPEG") do not play properly. It defies logic.
The work-around I came up with this morning is to export the photo (from the sequence) as a Quicktime file and then reimport it that seems to "fix" it. I am convinced that this has to have happened to others. The circumstance (2 text clips over a photo) seems pretty basic.
Has anyone been able to recreate this problem? Thanks.

I have lost Boinx in Video Generator plug in Effects, Fotomagico is installed but can't access the plug-in, any ideas?  Have reinstalled FCE to no avail. I don't understand as was working fine then just gone. Any help would be much appreciated.

I think the suggestion by JimHdk is fair simple. Most Internet services providing email offer a way to access email via a browser like Safari instead of using the Mail app. You start Safari, got to the webmail webpage, enter a user name and password and are provided with a list of waiting emails. You can read emails, reply to emails, delete emails and create new emails on those sites. This is a very common way for people who travel a lot and who encounter your problem, to access their emails.
If you don't know the website for your webmail contact your provider.

  • Pre Lion iPhone videos show Thumbnail but can't play - new video generates Unsupported Video Format popup, no thumb but will play via quicktime

    This is really frustrating -
Over the last year I have been uploading all of my photos and occasional iPhone video to Aperture 3 (latest version all patches in place).    Aperture would recognize the video, create a thumbnale and otherwise treat it nicely.
Now, since upgrading to Lion I find that though I can "see" the old videos in their folders or projects and the associated Thunbnale, I can't play them - I either get the spinning color wheel and then nothing or Aperture will crash and report an error relating to Quicktime (sorry don't have an error code at the moment).
If I try and export a video I can - but what I get also can't be played by Quicktime - just a black screen.  When I hit Play - the scroll bar moves, but there is no sound or video.
From Final Cut Pro X, I can imoprt this exported video file and see that it appears complete - but FCPX uses it's own playback elements.
If I shoot a new video on my iPhone, I find that I can see the thumbnale in the import option of Aperture when looking at the phone, but once imported I get a Popup telling me that it is an "Unsupported Video Format" - "Do you want to open this video clip with QuickTIme Player?"   If I hit Open then the clip does play, but the thumbnale remains a black square with the warning Exclamation Point.
I have also had some issues with Lion Mail crashing when trying to play a video made on an iPhone and sent to me via email.   Seems more likley to be a Lion / Quicktime issue then an Aperture and Mail issue - but who knows.
I spent 2.5 hours of quality time with the Genius bar this morning.  We reinstalled Lion and after that the suggestion was to trash and re-install Aperture, but that would require my disc and of coruse a trip home.   Mail doesn't seem to still have the issues with iPhone movies that it had - but Aperture is still not happy.
Did as instructed and dragged Aperture 3 to the trash, did the empty trash option, restarted and reinstalled.   Then did a software update to catch the new update for Aperture and it found that.   Interestingly when I did start it up after that it DID NOT ask me for my key - so clearly some elements were left over.
Now upon retstarting Aperture 3 once again I find that I can still see my old movies (their thumbnails show up) but I still can't play them.   The new test movie is there but still generates the popup regarding it being an Unsupported Video Format.
And it's not just my iPhone.   Video sent via email from another iPhone can play as an attachment, or when dragged and dropped to the desktop, but once imported into Aperture is once again proclaimed to be an Unsupported Video Format.
Hoping someone out there knows how to resolve this....

For some reason it just started to work now. Have no idea what didn't work before.

  • Is there a video generator for lines?

I'm still drawing circles, squares, and lines to overlay on my videos. Some time ago when I needed to make circles and squares, but didn't know how, someone here (Piero I think) told me about a great plug-in generator called Frames for just that purpose, which I installed in FCE and now use a lot (I forget the author of that wonderful program, but it appears under Video Generators > pf > Frames).
Well, now I'd like an easier way to draw lines on my videos than creating mattes and cropping them down to a sliver, or creating them in Photoshop on transparent backgrounds and then importing them into FCE as .psd files. Those methods are slow and tedious.
What I'd really like is a line generator on the order of that great pf plug-in for creating frames, only this one would be for lines. And ideally it would be able to create control points on a generated line so that you could curve and bend the line into various shapes, for example to match the twists and turns of a road on a map, or to make arcs and S-shapes. And it should have arrowheads available to put on the ends for pointing at things: arrows.
Does anyone know of any such line generator available anywhere for Final Cut Express?
    Tom B.
    Tom B.

That arrow generator is really nice, Ian, thanks much. That solves one of my problems; I was making arrows in Photoshop and importing them, which was tedious. But now with this generator I can quickly make any size or length arrow easily, right inside FCE. I notice that the size of the arrow after rendering is slightly smaller and thinner than it appears pre-rendered, but once you get used to that, and compensate for it a little in your design, you can make arrows of just the right size needed. Very nice!
Now if there were only a generator for curved, bent, or squiggly lines, able to be shaped as desired, for example to create a line to match the shape of a road as seen on a map, or an aerial photograph, I'd be all fixed. I don't suppose any such generator exists yet, though, so I'm still stuck with Photoshop for that, for now.

  • Keyframing video effects??? Please help

hello, I am trying to keyframe a video effect, "line art" in particular off...eg have line art keyframe to the original clip. Within the filters tab of the viewer I only have options to keyframe specific parameters of this effect however there are no combinations of these parameters that will allow me to keyframe back to the origianal video.
The only way that i can do something similar is to stack the same clip on 2 tracks and keyframe opacity.
    Is there an easier way??
    Thanks for your help

I'm not having trouble with dissolve keyframing. Im using 9 individual frames to make a grid with transitions throghout. < </div>
That's a completely different situation than the one you posted originally.
Nest the nine frames. Apply individual keyframes as you call them for other effects to the separate layers in the upstream sequence. Apply your dissolve or keyframe off as you say to the nested sequence in the downstream version.

  • CS6 Audio Mixer Track Keyframes not Generated

Hi:  I am using CS6.  I have several audio tracks and started mixing audio using the audio mixer in write mode.  I got a few of the tracks done and it works fine.  I came back today to do the rest and I can't for the life of me get it to write the keyframes.  I have tried both "write" and "touch" methods, but no luck.  I tried adding a new track and no luck.  I tried adding a new sequence and then it works, but for some reason I can't add more keyframes to my primary sequence.  This ever happened to anyone else?  I found a couple indications that it has happened to people but no solutions were offered other than to make sure it is set to "write".  I am aware that this method generates track keyframes and not clip keyframes.  When I chose to see track keyframes, it shows the ones I made yesterday, but is not generating new ones today.  Please help!

    Try:
Set up a new sequence and copy all the clips / media into it from the original sequence.
It maybe that the original sequence has recorded a mixer move in Audio 1.

  • Video generator/filter

I was doing a bunch of video editing and such, and im trying to create some cool video effects
what im trying to "re-create" is
a effect from michael bays film "transformers". I liked it when something (picture, words, ect) would flash, and be disorted in a way
the best way i know how to describe the effect is the glitchy/hologram effect
    thanks

Thanks, sound a lot more complex but I will give it a go. Are there any decent online tutorials you can recommend? Does this do gamma as well as sort out levels?

  • Lower 3rd Text Video Generator

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could tell how to make a lower 3rd title juxtaposed to the right instead of it's defualt juxtaposition, left.
    Thanks,
    Clay

Unless you mess with the center property, I don't think it's possible.
(Even altering the center property isn't really doin' it right, because your text will only ever be left-aligned, never right-aligned)
Could you use another Generator? Boris perhaps?

  • FCP Video Generator trouble

I just upgraded my computer and FCP. I'm following instructions on the training video and want to do a transparent graphic with video coming through the text. The video shows how to place a render effect underneath to make the text outline look interesting. I'm following the step by step instructions but when I drag and drop the custom gradient render effect on to the timeline it wipes out the image and that's all I see. I've tried mattes, too. It keeps doing the same thing. The render effect is on the bottom, text on the next timeline and video image on top... just like the instructor says to do. But all I see is the render effect. Why?

Yeah, it was rendered. I don't know what the problem was but it started working like it's supposed to.
I guess I'll file it under "ghost in the machine".
    Thanks.

  • Video Signal Generator RT

I want to generate an NTSC signal. I have a PXI RT, and I'd like to be able to generate the signal in Labwindows RT or Labview RT.
Can this be done with NI VMS or NI VideoMASTER?
    I tried downloading:
    http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/2396/lang/en
    and
    http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/2050/lang/en
But both of those software packages seem a little dated. I'm not sure they do what I want.
This thing here seems to maybe be what I want:
    http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/205449
But I don't see any reference for any APIs and whether or not it can be controlled by an RT.

    Hi Kevin,
Your links 2) and 3) refers to the same product - the VideoMASTER Analog Video Generator. This product is compiled into a dll for running on Windows and uses third party dlls for licensing and video pattern generation and as such does not support LabVIEW Real Time. It does support a LabVIEW API for non Real-Time applications in LabVIEW.
If your request represents a major opportunity for National Instruments there is a possibility to involve Systems Engineering or an Integrator to develop parts of the code into a customized solution to build into a Real -Time application.

  • Itunes will not recognise ipod nano video in itunes 9.0.2.25

Hi, running windows 7 64 bit and itunes 9.0.2.25. works well with old ipod and ancient shuffle but new ipod video generates 'can detect but not identify ipod'. On an XP machine the ipod works fine with the latest version of itunes.
I've tried the five steps, I've tried staring up with all services disabled and if I do that I can get the ipod detected in windows just fine. Soon as I start itunes services it disappears from windows and creates error as above.
Please any help welcome as otherwise I've bought my wife an engraved bit of metal and plastic for her birthday!

    Ta Charlie!
Okay ... you don't have a p55 chipset, so that rules out one possible hardware/BIOS issue. You don't appear to have the nVidia ECHI USB chipset, so I believe that rules out the trouble with Windows 7 with 4-GB-or-more-RAM not working well with USB drives or devices. (There's a hotfix available from Microsoft for that, but it wouldn't be relevant in this case.)
So I'm thinking it might be a problem with the Apple ipod driver. (The older iPods won't be using it, which would explain the discrepancy between the old and new ipods when it comes to recognition.)
Plug the nano in. Now in your Start menu, right-click "Computer" and select "Manage". Click "Device Manager".
Expand "USB devices". Can you see an entry in there for the Apple iPod driver? If so, right click on that and select "Uninstall". Click OK. (The uninstall may take a while, leave it to its own devices for a while.)
After the driver uninstalls, unplug the nano. (Wait until it has finished saying OK to disconnect on the nano screen, if nanos do that nowadays ... I'm testing this procedure using an older Classic.)
Now plug the nano back in. This should reinstall the driver.
Do you get proper recognition now?
