Keyframes deleted after exporting selection. Any way to recover?

Hey folks,
It looks like I may have been burned by the autosave feature. This evening I went into an old flash file to grab some stills that I could pull into an illustrator file via export selection. I didn't remove any frames from the timeline while I was working, but I did notice that the file autosaved a handful of times. When I went back into the file again later to export another graphic, I noticed that a handful of layers had suddenly lost their keyframes. The frames affected were all in graphics. This is a project I'm somewhat far removed from now, so I'm not planning to spend the time to go back and redraw everything that's missing, but it really irks me that this stuff disappeared when I went into the program to do some pretty non-invasive editing.
So my question is, before this gets too far away, is there a way to revert the autosaved file to an earlier version (even imperfectly or incompletely just to find the missing chunks and manually reinsert them into current document). Is there anywhere that missing frames have been known to show up? There's an entry for today in the swf history that says "swf size increased over 50%," in case that is helpful to know.
First time here, so let's hope I'm doing this by the books:
Adobe Flash Professional CS 6, 12.0.0.481
Windows 7
HP laptop, nothing too fancy here.
64bit operating system
6 gb ram
Intel Core i5-2439M cpu @ 2.4 GHz
Thanks!

Try right-clicking on the file and select "Properties." See if you have a "Previous Versions" tab. Whether you do depends on how your computer is set up. If that's there, you may be able to recover the file.
For future reference, both Git and SVN allow you to create local repositories, so version control doesn't need to be elaborate.

You can try data recovery software, like Stellar Phoenix.  That may (or may not) recover some or (probably not) all of them.  Any that cannot be recovered have probably been overwritten and are gone for good.
Note that you should not do anything further with the machine until you have the data recovery software, and should not install said software on the machine, since that may overwrite the data you're trying to recover.  You'll want to have some other drive you can boot from and use the recovery software from.

  • Iphoto deleted all my masters, any way to recover them? PLEASE HELP!!

Iphoto deleted all my masters and I cant seem to find them, is there any way to recover them? Iphoto 11 version. The only pictures that are left are some previews and some thumbnails.

    Try the following:
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button,
navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note:  your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.
    If that fails continue with:
Starting over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
    1. Open the library package like this.
    2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    3. Drag the subfolders of the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window a few at a time.
This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.
Note:  your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

Your iPhone is designed to sync contacts with a contact manager on your computer or iCloud. You can re-sync them from there.

  • Deleted Files in Lightroom, any way to recover??

I deleted hundreds of photos in lightroom, and I think they also got deleted from the folders that I exported them too because they are now missing.
When I deleted them they went into my trash, and then I went on and emptied my trash.
I don't have their thumbnails or anything, is there any way I can get these back?! It's an emergency!!!!!
    Thanks!!

Well, you can try downloading and installing and running something called an "Undelete Utility". There are freeware ones available. If you are going to do this, do not do anything else on your computer.
Also, develop a comprehensive and automated backup strategy so that this won't ever happen again.

Hello, I am curious if there is any way to recover a deleted voicemail from my iPhone 4 after I have deleted it from my deleted messages.

No but you can go to the deleted messages just after you delete them and undelete. Once the carrier deletes it from the system you cannot get it back.

  • Is there any way to recover accidentally deleted photos?

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.6 running on Windows 7 PC.
After importing a group of photos including JPG and RAW files from a memory card (which was later reformatted), I noticed that the photos ended up in a folder on the wrong external drive. I tried to move them to another folder on the main drive using Lightroom and somehow deleted the original files. I can still see them in a Collection, but they cannot be edited or Developed as the underlying file cannot be found. Is there any way to recover these photos? Willing to listen to all suggestions. Thanks for your input.

Find an "undelete utility" (one such utility is called Recuva, but I have never used it) and see if it can recover your RAW photos. If you are going to do this, do not perform any other tasks on your computer except to find, download, install and run this undelete utility. If possible, download and install on a different drive than the photos were on. You can also try this undelete utility on your camera card.
While I'm at it, you might want to develop and implement a backup strategy, in which you don't delete from the camera card until you have TWO (or more) copies of your photos, on TWO (or more) different physical disks. And don't forget to back up your catalog file regularly and automatically.

  • Is there any way to recover a disk's catalog directory after a Quick Erase?

A disk's data directory seems to me to be the most vulnerable Achilles's Heel to protecting data.
With the 1 click of an accidental quick erase and format via Disk Utility, the roadmap to potentially multiple terabytes of data gets erased.
Even if zero data files were overwritten and all of the data files get recovered, (please, please correct me if I'm wrong) data recovery software can't retrieve the filenames, folder names, and the organizational, hierarchical structure, which then can only be painstakingly rebuilt by hand.
Relative to the size of the data, the directory is tiny. Wouldn't recovering a backup of the directory (that should always be automatically made as a fail-safe whenever an erase/format is done) make complete recovery fast and easy?
This seems waaayyyy too obvious to be overlooked, but everything I read indicates that with 1 click, it's gone and can't be recovered!
Is there any way to recover a disk's catalog directory after a Quick Erase?

    This is not accurate.
The catalog on an erased disk may be recoverable - you need to use the correct software to look for it & repair it. SSD's will make this more difficult because of how the controller operates on the drive reallocating & overwriting entire chunks without any external way to override that but spinning disks should still have the potential for recovery. If you have more dollars than sense (e.g. 3 letter agencies) you could apparently use advanced techniques to undo layers of magnetic changes - magnetic force microscopy is meant to be able to do this, but I have only seen it discussed as theory, never demonstrated.
Tools like TestDisk may be able to rebuild the original partition structure, from there you could try tools like Disk Warrior to reconstruct the catalog, which could potentially recover the file & folder names. I'm generalising here because I haven't done this on HFS+ (at least as far as I can remember ), I have done comparable things on Linux ext3 volumes. HFS+ has similar features (like a built in backups of the volumes structures).
You seem to be concocting a solution that seems weird to me - saving a backup disk catalog when erasing a disk entirely defeats the point of erasing (unless the backup should be saved to another physical disk).
You agreed to erase the disk - the error here is yours (sorry for being blunt, but you shouldn't really expect Apple to account for uncommon user mistakes). Frankly people shouldn't be editing disks when there are non backed up volumes connected but sometimes it's a hard lesson to learn.
If you have a backup running file recovery on a deleted volume is irrelevant - you would always be better off replacing from a copy, 'file carving' or data recovery is likely to bring back old files which were not erased & not in the last catalog, potentially polluting the result.
If you don't know how to recover & have erased data that you really need recovered take it to a professional company, it is the best option by far. Using & attempting to repair can lose more data as Kappy noted.
There are many other drawbacks with HFS+ that should probably be addressed before this e.g. data is not verified to be the identical as when it was originally stored to disk.
If you really don't like the filesystem limitations use an alternative like ZFS on a server, that has many extra features that better at protecting what is saved. Other systems also manage file duplication for redundancy & data verification etc.
Mac OS Extended is all we have that is fully supported on OS X for booting & all common tasks, so ask Apple to address you concerns http://apple.com/feedback/ but I'm not sure it makes sense for other users.

no official way but if you open the Apple TV and put the hd in the external case it should mount and give you access to the data on it

Nope, it either needs to be plugged in or turned on with the power button.
A replacement iPhone 4 is $149, but at least the whole phone is replaced.

  • Hi, I would like to know how can I recover a document from pages that I didn't save anytime and instead of clicking the button save I clicked the delete button at the end. Is there any way to recover it?

Hi, I would like to know how can I recover a document from pages that I didn't save anytime and instead of saving the doc I clicked the delete button. Is there any way to recover it?

Regardless of application, the first step that I take is to save and name the current document — even if it has no content yet. With Pages, this good habit enables autosave. As you add content, your document revision history is restorable via the File Revert To menu. The delete key has the same document foreboding as only teaching a pet raven to speak "Nevermore."

  • {Solved} any way to recover deleted user

    Hi.
piotr wrote:It does not work. I get the message that the home directory already exists.
pass the -M option to useradd to avoid creating user home directory
pass the -u option to specify the user ID to use, look at this with ls -alln /home/ then you should see the uid number side to your old home dir
