Keying in premiere crops my footage

Hi, so I've been editing a peice recently that requires me to do a lot of green screen keying, I've just started out using premiere and whenever I finish keying something and then force rendering it, it cuts my peice in half at a slight angle and no matter what I tweak it doesnt change can anyone help?
thank you.

yes the sequence matches the media and the other footage I have qeued up arent cropped it's just when I color key or garbage key something when it finishes rendering it cuts away a little bit than half of the clip at a slight angle, so not even a uniform crop

  • Color crops my footage.

How do I stop color cropping my footage? I'm working on 1080P DVC Pro HD footage in Final Cut (Pal) and when I send it to color it automatically trims off the sides of my footage.
I've searched the manual and the web for a solution but can't find one.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for the reply.
The footage is 25 frames per second if that helps.
my first port of call was to the project settings. I have it set to 1920 * 1080 HD.
I've tried all the other options and they are all worse.
I've played around in the Geometry room as well, but the missing edges don't seem to exist inside color.
Maybe the problem is coming from Final Cut? I'm using the send feature as the programs are on the same computer.
The original footage was 16:9 aspect ratio. In Final Cut I put a matte on to make it 2.35:1 (Obviously without "baking" it I wasn't expecting the matte to go across, I was just going to redo it.)
But a good part of the width is disappearing.
One thing I have just noticed which is starnge, is that once the footage is re-imported to FCP, although the footage is still too slim, if I check the "drop shadow" box in the motion control panel, more of the image will appear although it's distorted.
    Confused...

  • How to crop/export footage in 2.39:1

Using premiere pro 1.5....... have footage i shot in 16:9 and would like to crop and export into 2.39:1 or similar aspect ratio without stretching... any ideas?
    thx

    The formula is thus:
Do the math on the original aspect ratio. 16 / 9 = 1.777.  Divide that by the aspect ratio you want to end up with.  1.777 / 2.39 = .74.  Multiply that by 100 and we get 74%.  Subtract that from 100% and we get 26%.  So 26% of your current image needs to be gotten rid of to create the 2.39 aspect ratio.  Which means a 13% crop top and bottom.
You can do that by using the crop effect within Premiere if you're making a DVD or Blu-ray.  Or you can do that in the Export step if you're creating a computer or web file.

  • GeForce GTX 780 and Premiere CC 2014 footage issues on Win 8.1

    Hey everyone
I just bought a PC media workstation, having been a Mac guy for 15 years.  As I was installing apps, AU, AE, Cinema4D all worked as expected. But PR literally would chug when playing back almost any footage (in this case mostly my ProRes422HQ from my BMPC). The playhead moved, I heard audio but the picture never changed.  Even the low-quality h264 proxy footage I tested performed like this.
Interestingly, whether I was enabling GPU based editing in Premiere or not, it had no effect whatsoever.
I talked w/ the guys at Mediaworkstations.net and we narrowed it down to what we think is an issue between of graphics card support from Adobe.  I even retro-installed CC and CS6 and both had the same results.  Was hoping someone from Adobe would speak into this and offer some help.

  • Premiere removes black footage on import causing audio sync problems.

    Hello,
Strange problem at the moment. I've exported DSLR footage and audio from Premiere as H.264 - works fine - its my usual export and one I'm allways happy with for most uses. No sync problems, but some black footage (or blank footage).
When I import this into Premiere again, the black footage seems to be removed and thus the audio is completely out of sync. Any thoughts?

I'm inclined to say observer/operator error here.  I don't believe it's possible for PP to do as you claim, so I'm skeptical of your conclusion.

  • How to obtain Video and Non Video Serial Keys for Premiere Pro CS6

Discovered that certain codec presets (specifically the AVCHD codec) was not available for Premiere Pro CS6 installed under Creative Cloud for Enterprise.
Understand there are two different serial numbers for use in installation. One of these serial numbers is labeled "Video," and one is labeled "Non-Video.
Where are these serial numbers located?   How are the serial numbers obtained?

    Hello Ann,
    Appreciate your reply..
Here is where some additional confusion arises (reference bottom part referring to Video Serial Keys)   Adobe support said that these Video Keys are to be purchased from the reseller (which makes no sense)
Error "...a sequence that could not be opened"
So, if I understand from your replies and what I have read - it is of the belief that by de-activating and re-activating will address the issue of the missing codecs.  Do you believe this to be correct as well?
    Thank you

  • Premiere Pro playback Footage issue - W/ After Effects Composition

Hi, I've had a very irritating issue as of late.
I've been working on a project for the past couple weeks and it has been going well.
I use AVCHD 1080p 29.97fps 24p footage. It plays perfectly fine in my Premiere Pro CS4 and After Effects CS4. I have used After Effects to replace many parts of the footage and has gone very well... Except one piece of footage.
For what ever reason, it plays terribly only when I apply an After Effects composition to it. If it is the raw footage, it's fine. If I alter it in after effects it's fine. But if it's altered from AE and I attempt to play it in Premiere Pro it repeats old frames. A mixture of stuttering and several frames back through out the whole clip.
I have NO idea what caused it or why it's happening.
    Does anyone know?
    Thank You.

AVCHD footage is highly compressed using a GOP compression scheme. This makes it unsuitable for heavy processing and subject to all kinds of errors and artifacts when re-compressed. The best workflow is to convert (transcode) your AVCHD footage to a lossless or nearly lossless codec that preferably uses YUV color space. I work mostly on a Mac so my preference is Apple ProRez 444. I transcode everything that I work on that is going to require more than just straight cuts.
Try transcoding (Adobe Media Encoder or Compressor or even Quick Time Pro are a few of the options) your problematic clip, replace the AVCHD footage in your AE comp with the transcoded footage, then re-render to a lossless or nearly lossless codec. Bring your new render into PPro and render a preview. Let us know if this fixes your problem.

  • How do you use the color channel output mode in Ultra Key in Premiere Pro CS6?

I'm wondering how the color channel output mode is supposed to be used in the Ultra Key inside of Premiere Pro CS6? I've looked through all the Adobe help items and I don't see any documentation on it.

Before I answer, you might want to read the following article: http://www.photoshopessentials.com/essentials/rgb/
So, basically, if you understood all of that, and maybe already knew all of that, then you can use the color channel to see more deeply into the effect by looking at the details of the image through the lens of the color channel.

  • Premiere 2014 MXF Footage Still Crashing, Glitching, Picture Freezes but Audio Plays Fine, Footage Duplicating Itself in Media Bin & Timeline - HitFilm3 pro plays fine!

WTH is going with Premiere?  These continuing problems are just getting worse and worse. I just imported 12 hours of MXF footage at 720p and almost all the footage has duplicated itself in my media bin when I import. rather the files are there ie: AA009906.MXF, and so on numerically, but the lengths are all the same, and the picons play the exact same footage within the media bin. So I drag all the footage to the timeline where the footage is all duplicated the same amount of files there are. But not always. Also if I just drag the first file down to timeline, almost the whole disk shows up on the timeline. Finally when playing, after about a couple of minutes, the pictures freezes on some non descript frame for the rest of about 2 hours worth.  Then everything all picks up fine. Next chip of files same thing but at different places.
What's really a hoot, is that I just downloaded a trial version of HITFILM3PRO editing software and all my footage plays just fine without any of ADOBE's glitches.  Also downloaded AVL Player for MXF files, to which everything plays just fine too.
This is oh so ridiculous that If I weren't laughing so much right now, i'd be on the verge of a heart attack with all this Adobe Crap!
I can't fathom why Adobe isn't paying me to be a Beta Tester, instead of me having to call my new client, Once Again, and tell them that their project is on Hold, Once again, just the same for every project ever since adobe introduced "CREATIVE CLOUD".

That's strange. Can you upload a test file so I can try and replicate the behavior?
You did ingest via the Media Browser after copying the camera's HD cards to your media HD right?
What kind of camera is this?

  • Importing EDL from AVID into Premiere with Alexa-Footage

    Hi,
here is what I am trying to achieve:
    1. Edit in AVID with Alexa Footage
    2. Export EDL
    3. Import EDL in Premiere
    4. Relink Media
    5. Export to After Effects
Here is a little piece out of my EDL:
    007 A008C010 V C 01:34:45:02 01:34:45:19 01:00:08:18 01:00:09:10
    008 A008C001 V C 00:15:30:16 00:15:32:01 01:00:09:10 01:00:10:20
    009 A008C006 V C 00:52:43:08 00:52:45:21 01:00:10:20 01:00:13:08
The import of the EDL works fine in Premiere. My objects in the Project Panel are called "A008C010", "A008C001", and so on. When I'm trying to relink the media I need to select every single project-item because Premiere doesn't recognize my files automatically based on the connection to the filename.
I tried lots of stuff, renaming my files without extension -> Premiere doesn't accept the files anymore, renaming my items in Project Panel "name" and "tape name" -> the relink-media doesn't recognize the same name, and so on.
    What am I missing here?
    Thank you!

    Hi there.
Premiere needs to have the full file name with extension in the EDL itself.  Changing it in the project after the EDL has been imported won't work. All you need to do is change your EDL to look like:
    007 A008C010.mov V C 01:34:45:02 01:34:45:19 01:00:08:18 01:00:09:10
    008 A008C001.mov V C 00:15:30:16 00:15:32:01 01:00:09:10 01:00:10:20
    009 A008C006.mov V C 00:52:43:08 00:52:45:21 01:00:10:20 01:00:13:08
Should be able to do a simple Search and Replace on your EDL in any wordpad editing software... just search for  " V "  (note the space before and after the "V") and replace with ".mov V " (with a space after the "V")
    Cheers!

  • Premiere Pro CS6 footage issue

Hey everyone - first time posting!
I've been editing a music video in cs6 for a week or so with no issues. (Shot in 4K R3D and editing in that codec). I just updated my mac to Yosemite and suddenly everything's stopped working.
All the footage in the timeline is just gone, as you can see all the cuts are there. When I try and render it I get an 'error compliling movie' alert. The footage in the media section just gives me a media pending alert in the source monitor as you can see. The music track is fine and plays like normal.
All the footage is fine - I've dragged it to another computer and it plays fine in premiere - all the files are fine.
Some help would be greatly appreciated. I've spent a long time editing and the deadline is on the horizon.
    Thanks guys!
    Alex Cribbs

    >just updated my mac to Yosemite and suddenly everything's stopped working
CS6 is 3+ years old and has not been, and will not be, updated for that OS
Even the Cloud version had to have updates issued to be compatible with that OS
I do not know of anything that is SURE to work, but a couple of ideas I have seen in the past that MAY help
1-uninstall and completely clear CS6 and then reinstall Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
2-go back to the Mac OS that was working with CS6
3-buy a subscription to the Cloud version of P-Pro

  • Number of License Keys in Premiere Pro CS6 (Student)?

I am looking at purchasing the Student Edition of Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and wanted to know the number of License Keys it comes with. I am looking to put it on two of my computers and would rather purchase the non student edition if I can't get multiple licenses.

This seems to confirm John's statement:
    Licensing and other aspects
There some minor difference between actual product license and the license of student and teacher edition. The student and teacher edition can only be used in private computer owned by the license holder and not in computers owned by some organization for commercial use. The license can use this software in maximum two self-owned machine. The software is not allowed be transferred to some other parties. Only one copy of the software can be bought by a person. These restrictions are not applicable in case of regular edition.

  • Premiere scopes reading footage from FCP7 wrong

I just imported HDV footage (1080i 60 originally digitized into FCP7) into PP 5.5 and the scopes are way off till I add a default color corrector. Example: when looking at the raw untouched HDV footage in PP any given clip will show on the vectorscope like it is mostly blue, but on the program monitor it looks fine. Even the waveform is a bit off. Then when I add, say the fast color corrector w/default settings/no adjustment suddenly it looks accurate. For instance the vectorscope will immediately show flesh tones leaning slightly to the red w/nothing showing a strong blue as before. I'm new to PP, so I'm guessing this is some simple user error on my part. Just in case I did check my sequence settings to make sure they matched the footage and they appear to be fine. Thoughts?

If I were the betting sort, I'd be inclined to believe you're running into the good ol' QuickTime gamma "issue," which has been around for eons. Your HDV footage--which I'm presuming exists as Apple HDV in a QuickTime container--is going through QuickTime for decoding rather than using any of the native importers and decoders that Pr uses. Premiere Pro can handle HDV natively, but not when it's wrapped up in a QuickTime container; on a PC, these files are ordinarily a no-go, and you need a third-party codec or some artful subterfuge to put them into a different container. This would explain--at least partially--why you're seeing the issue with the FCP captures but not the GoPro footage.
Do you have the original footage, e.g. tape? It might be worth doing some comparisons between the FCP captures and capturing directly into Pr. The Pr captures will use the native importers, so you'd be able to compare the same frame as handled by each process. I'm not saying that Pr isn't doing something wrong, but it might be good to rule out some variables first.

  • Quicktime's Conform Aperture is cropping my footage??

So I recorded some 1080i/59.94 Uncompressed 8-bit video via SDI using a Blackmagic Studio card.
Final Cut Pro (and After Effects) report the footage as true 1920x1080. But when I open in Quicktime Player Pro to convert to ProRes, I get this wacky 1888x1062 resolution. Someone pointed me to this Apple document that talks about Quicktime aperture conform (which I've never heard of).
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24215?locale=enUS&viewlocale=enUS&login=email
So I've never heard of QT Player actively cropping and scaling movies. Is sounds like I shouldn't be using QT Player to convert my files, right?

Hi. Is there a possibilty to export quicktime movies with final cut pro where 'Conform apperture to ...' is always disabled or set to clean? I need to encode some quicktime movies with other encoders like Rhozet's Carbon Coder or Cinemacraft HD encoder. In these encoders, especially on microsoft windows, the apperture setting is always set to production and therefore the results are incorrect. I always have to conform apperture to clean or disable it manually.

  • Product-Key from Premiere 12 to Premiere 13?

    Hi Users,
I have a big problem. A few months ago i bought the adobe premiere 12 product. But after my computer was broken and repaired again, i wanted to install the movie-maker again. Now I can't install the 12 version but only the premiere elements 13 Product, and when i want to enter the Product-Key of the old one, he say that it's not compatible. What should i do now? PLEASE HELP! :,
    Lot of thanks!

    Boas
Premiere Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 13 are standalone programs. You need a separate purchased serial number for each - unless you are looking at the tryout with its 30 day limit.
From what you wrote, you would not appear to quality for a free move to 13 from 12. If you had purchased 12 within 30 days of the release of 13, Adobe
might approve that. But, you have not when you say that you purchased Premiere Elements 12 several months ago.
This is not Adobe. Rather User to User. You can contact Adobe via its Adobe Chat to confirm your situation.
Why can you not install version 12 on your computer? What is stopping you from doing that, including error message and what happens when you go to do that?
You are not going to get a purchased Premiere Elements 12 serial number to work for Premiere Elements 13. And, what Premiere Elements 13 are you looking at?
Purchased version 13 which should have it own serial number? Or tryout of version 13?
If you do not want to go out and buy another Premiere Elements license, it would appear that you need to troubleshoot what you have, presumed
Premiere Elements 12 with its own purchased serial number.
I will be back in a moment to post the link to Adobe via its Adobe Chat.
    Please review and consider.
    Thank you.
