Keylight, random Horizontal lines

In After effects using Keylight, I have an issue with Horizontal lines appearing out of nowhere, appearing behind the subject in one frame of the video. I've tried getting rid of it by changing a setting in keylight, but the lines appear somewhere else in the video.  I've tried restarting, uninstalling/reinstalling, but to no avail. I have the image below. We shot on an Sony Ex3 1080p/24. The project setting is 1080p/23.976 in premiere & After Effects. I'm running version CS6

I can see that it's an MP4 from the screenshot, but I was just wondering what the actual codec was. I'm assuming an H.264 variant.
What happens if you try to transcode the clip to a production codec?
I don't think the 11.0.4 update fixed issues with block artifacts in footage, but it is usually a good idea to be running with the latest bug fixes.

  • RANDOM HORIZONTAL LINES on iMac G5 (1st G)

    I have the iMac G5 (NO iSight) and some months ago I discovered some random horizontal lines that went through the whole display up or down. They are not there the whole time, sometimes when I work with Aperture or even iPhoto or Safari the lines start to appear, or sometimes when I turn on the computer. I don't think they are linked with temperature, but I do think they are related to the processor use, as when they appear I hear the fans inside, which means the more of the processor is being used. I've also tried the iMac on different homes, so it's not energy related. I got the iMac to an Apple Authorized Retailer and they changed the logic board under the extended repair for the iMac G5, but that was no luck. The lines are still here, and they don't know what is causing them. Anyone knows what I could do to get the display fixed? Any part inside? Thanks, they are very annoying.

    Hey guys,
    About the RANDOM HORIZONTAL LINES I don't have any good news for you. I contacted an Apple Authorized Reseller and they took a look at my iMac G5, and after sending photos of the lines to them they could actually get the logic board replaced through an extended warranty program Apple has with the logic board and power supply. However, I brought it home, and the lines are still here. It could be something with the actual display because they told me the logic board contained almost everything, so in my iMac the logic board is (hopefully) new, or at least working. I haven't tried plugging it in to another display. But I do think it is related with processor activity; when I run many applications that require lots of processor, the lines appear, and when the task is finished, they are gone, such as the Aperture Trial (lines here don't let you even see at your pictures correctly). I'll keep contacting the authorized reseller to see if anything comes up and I'll keep you posted.
    Please try contacting Apple in the United States. I can't, I don't live in the US. Any ideas of solving this (maybe directly from Apple) would be great. Thanks!

  • Help! movies in idvd look terrible, washed-out with random horizontal lines

    i'm exporting them from final cut pro (where they look great) as quicktimes (29.97) using the animation compression, best quality and millions of colors... is this the best way to bring them into idvd? should i try an mpeg4 instead? the project was originally shot on film and looked great. now, when i play the dvd, it's a fuzzy washed-out mess... please help...
    thanks!

    I don't have FCP but I believe you should use the DV codec.
    So try DV/DVCPRO-NTSC (or DV-PAL if you happen to use PAL).

  • HD3000 freezes, airfracts, horizontal lines

    Hi
    Can anyone help me? I have OSX 10.9.5 (13F1066) on this laptop:
    I3 2310M
    HD3000
    ALC269
    AR8151
    AR5B97
    Here is the console log after restart: http://pastebin.com/vGFySH1N
    Its freezing, texture problems in games, random horizontal lines....  When freeze, everything stops, just the mouse moving... please help me thank you, and sorry for my bad english

    Try a restart.
    Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
    Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
    Isolating an issue by using another user account
    Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear and again when you log in. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don’t do them all at once.

  • Horizontal lines on flatbed scan Model G4050

    My HP G4050 flatbed scanner makes random horizontal lines in scans, as well as slightly doubled (blurred) images--as if the camera had moved slightly during a longer exposure.   This just suddenly started happening.  Every scan has a different configuration of lines--there is no pattern to it.  What is causing this---and can I fix it?

    Hello Helephant,
    Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
    I understand your Scanjet G4050 will scan, how ever it will leave lines in the document. You could, if not already, clean the glass and backing plate of the scanner. Since you mentioned it is not a common spot the lines present them self, it may not help. Scanned Image is Fuzzy.
    An update may also help, "Dust and Scratch Removal" or "6-Color Scanning" options do not work in Windows.
    I hope those suggestions have helped.

  • Flashing Apple icon with horizontal line flashing at random on screen

    I know this can't be good
    Here's the background info:
    Our G5 completely crashed about 4 months ago. Lost my iTunes library but my iPod mini was full and working, so I used it until the battery died. Now iTunes is reinstalled but I was scared to plug iPod in and wipe out everything on it by mistake. Today after researching on this site I dowloaded Senuti to help with getting the contents of iPod back into iTunes library. Two hours ago I plugged in my iPod into USB on the G5, and at first I got the dead battery icon, but after a couple of minutes I got a flahing Apple icon, with a horizontal line on the screen flashing at random places. iTunes does not 'see' my iPod. Needless to say, Apple support website does not address the issue... Any help is appreciated! Thanks from sunny Florida

    Try to connect your iPod with a window PC
    Windows users having trouble with their iPods should locate a Mac user. In many cases when an iPod won't show up on a PC that it will show up on the Mac. Then it can be restored. When the PC user returns to his computer the iPod will be recognized by the PC, reformatted for the PC, and usable again. By the way, it works in reverse too. A Mac user often can get his iPod back by connecting it to a PC and restoring it.
    Tips
    a. It does not matter whether the format is completed or not, the key is to erase (or partly) the corrupted firmware files on the Hard Drive of the iPod. After that, when the iPod re-connected with a computer, it will be recognized as an fresh external hard drive, it will show up on the iTunes 7.
    b. It is not a difficult issue for a Mac user to find a window base computer, for a PC user, if they can’t find any Mac user, they can go to a nearest Apple Shop for a favor.
    c. You may need to switch around the PC and Mac, try to do several attempts between “Format” and “Restore”

  • Horizontal Lines appear in random spots on display

    Hey everyone.
    Recently, my white iMac has been locking up a lot lately (forcing me to hard-reset, boo) and horizontal lines have been appearing. It freezes most often during more graphically-intense applications like games and Pro Tools. It's not the regular Mac freeze, where the grey dialogue box politely and multi-ligual-ly informs you that you need to reset. When my computer freezes, things just lock up, or the screen will go black.
    I thought since I had not done a whole lot of computer maintenance since I bought it, there was a possibility it was just a horrible software glitch.
    So I zero'd my hard drive and reformatted. Almost immediately the lines returned. Interestingly enough, I don't need a digital camera because these awful lines can get captured by screenshots.
    The lines are typically pinkish or black, but if you look close, the individual pixels in the lines seem to be coloured arbitrarily. If the lines appear on a window, I can drag it around and the lines will follow. If I resize the window, the lines disappear.
    Here's a screenshot. Note how the lines only affect the one window, and do not span the entire screen.
    http://img161.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=29918lines_122708lo.jpg
    These lines aren't bound to a particular window, just the desktop as a whole.
    http://img142.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=45631lines2_1221119lo.jpg
    How are these things getting captured on screenshot if I just reformatted my computer?
    If it's not a software error, could a worn-out graphics card produce odd artifacts that are screen-capture-able? Apple ships hardware that can't last 2 years? Am I going to get shafted if I try to call them? Is there possibly a fix for this?
    Thank you everyone for taking the time to read my post, and thanks in advance if you have some advice or want to express that you share the same issues.

    Just to add a few comments to this thread, I had similar problems (green dots appearing at random locations on the display, lines, then corrupted icons graphics / text, and eventually computer lock-ups that required a power/hard reset).
    It took me weeks to realize that heat was the root cause of these display artifacts / computer lock-ups. I had run zillions of memory tests, ran the Apple Diagnostic so many times, tried TechTool Pro, and I never ever got reported with a single error by any of these tools. I swapped RAM, disconnected all external Firewire / USB devices, tried different versions of Tiger / Leopard, to eventually conclude it had to be something else...
    ... and then it struck me one evening this week. I realized that I was now using my Mac Mini to transcode video (a task that I used to perform with my iMac, but that I stopped to use as a transcoding device as this would eventually lead to the symptoms described above), and that the Mac Mini's fan would increase in speed when the CPU would get loaded. It is then that I realized that I had never heard my iMac's fan change in pitch... with the exception of when I was running the Apple Diagnostic tool !!!
    Gotcha !
    I also downloaded the latest version of smcFanControl, and changing the fan settings to 1200 (ODD), 2200 (HDD), 2000 (CPU) fixed all the symptoms.
    I submitted a bug report to Apple about this, as I consider this is a major issue. I have seen the temperature of the power supply reach 80+ Celsius. Water boils at 100 Celsius. That is hot, way too hot.
    I hope Apple will fix this issue ASAP through a SMC firmware update as fans control is meant to be automated.
    Just my 0.02$CAD.

  • Hp 2711x Monitor: Flickering red horizontal lines, dots, shapes

    I'm not sure if I have two seperate problems or if they are the same problem. But lately my monitor has many red horizontal lines or red dots, or random red shapes on screen that flicker slightly. They only appear on parts of the screen that are dsplaying either black or any dark colors. Any part of the screen displaying white will have no lines at all. The problem will go away temporarily if I shut off the monitor for a while.
    Also before it begins doing this, and during, the entire screen will go bank for about 1-2 seconds and then come back. It never gives an error message when it is blank. I run a dual monitor set up with my laptop display and the monitor and the lines only appear on the monitor, not the laptop display.
    I have the most current drivers for the monitor installed.
    The computer is a Clevo W110ER with i7 3630QM  2.4 Ghz and a 2 GB video card, running Windows 8.

  • Major CS5 bug where Smart Objets get thin horizontal lines??

    Our prepress company has come across and proven out a rendering bug in Photoshop CS5 for Mac.  It has caused us to consider totally avoiding CS5 until it's fixed.  We are finding that CS5 is putting in several randomly generated thin horizontal lines about a pixel in height and varying widths, in cases where CS4 does not.  Some files get these lines when converting live "smart objects" from one ICC colorspace to another.
    I am providing a link to a specific file that shows proof of this bug.   The example file has an embedded sRGB profile.  To see the bug, set you working RGB colorpsace to AdobeRGB, and set your Policies to "Ask".  During opening, USe the embedded profile. Then convert it to the AdobeRGB 1998 colorspace using File Convert, and do not rasterize the smart objects.  You will see lines in the lower right hand corner after it's converted.  Now go back and rasterize the smart object layers first, and these lines will not show up.  And now do the same with CS4, without rasterizing the smart objects and you will not get lines.  CS5 bug, CS4 no bug.
    Let me know what you find on your end.  Can any of the adobe employees document this for me and get it on the fix list?
    Test file:
    http://www.mediafire.com/?ant3ya9aaft1a95

    I also head a Graphics/Prepress department at a medium format digital print shop, with next day service to the casino industry. My two cents worth, CS4 did not have this issue, CS 4 was a Cocoa app and CS5 a Carbon app, to me that is not a reason why a major software company like Adobe has multiple leading products (PS, ID, Ill) that cause these kind of problems. I can't count the times my print opp's have come back with a file showing lines. Now, I have told my designers that we should also be looking for the lines, now that we know about it.
    I have printed fabric before and it is a pain to print one and see if there are lines in it, but which is more painful, printing one to test? Or trashing $3k worth of fabric? I know this works for one image printed x times, but multiple images printing a couple each to fulfill the job would be a huge ordeal. Adobe doesn't understand that yet. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, maybe we should all start calling tech support daily.
    I saw a post suggesting rasterize pdf's in lower PS to work around, clearly an ad agency/freelance solution, not a production house solution. Opening and closing PS12 and PS11 somewhere around 15 to 20 times, per work station?  We process somewhere around 40 minimum pieces of art a day, and sometimes double that. I could rant on this suggestion all day.
    The bottom line is Adobe has no clue where it is coming from, they are more worried about the iPad/mobile industry right now.

  • Need help forming randomly colored lines, that are equidistant(ex included)

    My assignment: The
    top-right cell requires horizontal lines that are equidistant in the cell. Each line is 10 pixels apart. Additionally, the lines need to be colored randomly in any possible red, green and blue range.
    example: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i35/stxda/example.jpg
    (example of what I need to do)
    what I have now: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i35/stxda/current.jpg
    I have all the lines coded for the top right cell, but I do not know how to get the colors random. I only know how to set all the lines to one single color.
    Below is my coding:
    (please try this out and help me code it)
    my AIM screen name is sTxDa if there are any questions/comments
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.applet.*;
    import java.util.*;
    public class Lab06G90 extends Applet
    public void paint(Graphics g)
    // BELOW is for the top left cell and box (which is int a and the box's frame)
    int width = 800;
    int height = 600;
    g.drawRect(10,10,width,height);
    g.drawLine(410,10,410,610);
    g.drawLine(10,310,810,310);
    for (int a = 20; a <= 400; a += 10)
    g.drawLine(a,20,a,290);
    // BELOW is for the top right cell, which is int b. so far
    // i've only done the lines, and not yet the random colors
    for (int b = 10; b <= 290; b += 10)
    g.drawLine(420,b,800,b);
    }

    but I do not know how to get the colors randomUse the Random class.

  • Horizontal line flicker on screen

    Lately I have noticed sometimes that I will see a horizontal line will flicker on the screen and then go away. Like when you turn on a screen and its adjusting because you just turned it on. But its been on the whole time. What to do?

    I've been seeing this for at least three or four months. I'm concerned because these things seem to get progressively worse, though at least until now I haven't noticed any increase in frequency or severity. Just as described above, a thin, grey looking, horizontal line will flash extremely briefly at a seemingly random vertical position on the screen. Sometimes it won't happen for a while, sometimes it will happen two or three times a day.
    I can't say for sure because it happens infrequently and I haven't been paying attention to it lately, but I want to say the lines only appear when I'm on the low-power 9400M graphics card, rather than the 9600M GT.

  • Horizontal lines

    This is a new issue, which popped up randomly today, and I can't seem to find any posts that fit the description of what's going on, so here goes:
    Earlier today, while working on homework, I looked up at my monitor from my textbook and there were suddenly horizontal lines crossing the entire width of my monitor. These lines are very, very thin, and as far as I can tell, they are spaced evenly apart and they are also symmetrical.
    I disconnected it from my video card, tried another monitor, etc. It is the monitor, not my PC, as other monitors do not share the issue. I was wondering if there was a fix anyone knew of that doesn't involve sendng the monitor in, buying a new monitor, etc? I've barely had this monitor for a year.

    Hello @Exclius,
    I understand that you are having issues with horizontal lines on your HP 20wm LED Backlit monitor. I am providing you with an HP Support document: Display Quality Issues, which has a section titled 'Solid horizontal or vertical red, green, or blue line', which has been designed to address issues such as the one you are describing. I suggest that you review the document and take the steps set out within to find a resolution to your delimma.
    I am also providing you with some steps you can try below:
    Step 1. Unplug the power cord from the back of the monitor and the wall
    Step 2. Hold the power button down for at least one minute
    Step 3. Plug the power cord back into the monitor and then into the wall outlet (not a power bar or surge protector)
    Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!
    Please click the "Thumbs Up" on the bottom right of this post to say thank you if you appreciate the support I provide!

  • Macbook Pro w/Retina - Horizontal Lines on Entire Display

    We have just issued some 15" MacBookPros with Retina Displays to users. They are running Yosemite. Users are complaining about very low contrast horizontal lines that run the entire width of the screen across all windows, including the background desktop image. They don't really impact usability much, but since we paid top dollar for the retina displays I expect better.  Lines are there across all resolution settings.These are not glitches like others have reported.
    Anybody seen this?
    The users are also having random problems with the entire computer locking up when attaching or detaching an external 4K display but that's a different issue.

    I'm having this as well.
    I got an early 2014 15" Retina MacbookPro that has the exact same thing for the past 2 weeks.
    It looks like there's a very faint, low-contrast white/grayish line every 2 pixels on the screen. It's visible everywhere indeed (also in OSX recovery).
    I'm running 10.10 as well but I don't think it's actually an OS issue.

  • Colored horizontal lines on new blank tabs?

    On random new blank tabs, using FF 7.01, horizontal lines appear, taking the whole screen width and several pixels height. I have seen black lines mostly, but also light blue, gray, brown and orange. I have made a screenshot too. I tried safe mode with addons disabled, the problem still exists.

    In Firefox 4 and later [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode Safe mode] disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.
    *[http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differences Tools > Options] > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
    If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.
    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    *Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
