Keylogging/vlogger

Hello. I share a computer with many individuals, although it is my computer. And I would wish to know some things they do on my computer. Is there any good keylogger, that store the logs in a fake error report or something? I found something called vlogger, but couldn't seem to get it to work.

vlogger isn't a keylogger; it's just used for large amounts of system messages.
If you're the admin all you need to do is look in their home directories and look at their history.
A keylogger really isn't needed unless you're doing something malicious like stealing their passwords.
i think of koonboi as a parent that might protect his children and view what things they do for example in the internet browser and things like that, rather than think that he want their passwords, things that don't show in the history at HOME because "maybe" they don't use the terminal emulator very often
The internet browser history would be in their home folder. Kids wouldn't even realize it was a security problem so they wouldn't delete it. Thus, no reason for a keylogger.

I have tried using my iTunes on both and everytime i go and i try to log-in with my apple id it will not allow me to. Says my password is incorrect when i know it is correct as I just used same password to download an App... So i just decided to try and create a new apple id inside of iTunes and everytime I do it says email is already in use but I have even tried crazy things such as my birthday mixed with nicknames and date of graduation up to about 14 characters long and it keeps saying email already exists when no one in their right mind could or would create some of these... Any help would be greatly appreciated to what the problem could be. Phone is not jailbroken

Do you know what could cause this and if so in which way can I fix it?

• HACKED! I am 90% sure I have a hacker on my machine (keylogging, keylogger)

HACKED! I am 90% sure I have a hacker on my machine (keylogging, keylogger)
There is no way they could have known I had certain accounts, and accessed them, without being on my machine.
What can I do to TRACK THEM?
In the last year or so:
• My PayPal was hacked. The person at PayPal said they logged in with ONE ATTEMPT. Someone tried to get funds from my account, to transfer them to someplace in California.
• My Credit card was hacked. The person got into my settings, and changed the email address. Someone also tried to buy something, again, in California.
I believe it's someone who has my IP address (probably from an email I sent). I know someone who was taking computer forensics -- and worked as an IT person at a hospital -- who has major reasons to get onto my machine to see what I am doing. She also has my SSN (Social Security Number), bank account numbers, and most credit card account numbers. She has special ties to California. In the last couple of years, she bought a tower Mac.
But, I think that there was no way she could know I had a certain account on a certain Web site, where someone got into it, and printed out 1 certificate (out of about 20-30), and used it. I believe she was "sending a message" that she can mess with my accounts, and do whatever she pleases. This place of business was the closest to where she is staying, walking distance.
Someone also rented videos out in my name -- about 20 miles from where she lives but near where her kids and ex- live, and nearby where I am staying -- and then returned the rented videos late (sending me a message), but keeping one of them without paying (a dance video--she's hugely into dancing).
This person is my sister, I believe; and I believe she is trying to get more via a Probate process than I believe she should (read: taking it from me).
I also got an ad sent in the name of my housemate to a PO Box that almost no one knows about, and at which I get very little mail. The ad was from a company I've never heard of. The PO Box would be listed in my credit file.
Maybe related: I also got a flyer at the house where I am staying that looked like it had added my housemate's middle name to it. I had called them to order a pizza, but I never gave them my housemate's middle name. (I don't think I've given it to anyone.)
I have Norton Internet Security, but that doesn't seem to have stopped it. And it's goofy. It won't let me lock it by clicking its lock. The lock keeps magically coming unlocked.
Also, my computer crashes more than once a week on average.
While I don't have the old Disinfectant installed, I might have accidentally double-clicked it. When I try to Trash it, and empty the Trash, it says it's busy or whatever. (I don't see it running as a regular Application; so if it's busy, it's one of those things I don't recognize.)
I am pretty sure my Passwords have been used; yet the only way someone could know -- and get into an account of mine with ONE attempt would be if they had my Password already. I don't keep these on my computer, or email them, or even write them down. So the only way I can see someone having them is to be on my computer, and very possibly keylogging what I type.
How can I track this activity, and locate where this information may be going.
No one I know seems to take these sorts of things seriously; though I don't really know anyone who knows Macs.
HELP!

Those two facts are related.
Norton Antivirus has a very long and illustrious reputation for mangling Mac OS X systems, sometimes to the point where a complete reinstall is necessary. Among other things, it installs kernel extensions which are known to cause kernel panics and system freezes; it contains known and documented bugs which can silently corrupt Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign files, destroy a user's ability to authenticate as an administrator, and (on PPC systems) can cause Classic to stop functioning; and Symantec has on at least two occasions now released flawed .dat file updates which erroneously report certain critical Mac OS X files as "viruses." (Deleting these "viruses" causes damage to the system that in some cases renders it unbootable.)

• Worried about being keylogged

I made the mistake of clicking a bad link (it appeared to be a link I always used) and now I sit in constant paranoia about being keylogged. Does MacBook Pro have any safeguards against keyloggers or is there a way stop them if they are already here?

You can relax. To have installed a keylogger "unknowingly" you would have had to enter your admin password - which I hope you wouldn't do after clicking on an internet link!
If you did - shame on you! But if so, post back and we'll look harder.
Hope this helps...

• Keylogging

I think one of my computers may have been keylogged as my itunes account has been hijacked twice. Does anyone have any suggestions to determine which computer and what I can do? I a MacBook Pro, an ipad, and one macbook. All three have access to my itunes account but only the macbook pro and ipad have access to my email.
Also is there a software for Mac to protect the computer once I can get rid of this?
thanks,

A keylogger would be almost impossible to install unless someone had physical access to your system or you fell victim to a scam and installed it yourself, by downloading a file from a non-trustworthy source and installed something purporting to be something else. If that's not possible, then the possibility of you're having a keylogger on your computer is, while not completely impossible, is so highly unlikely as to be probably not worth considering until all other possibilities have been exhausted.
More likely an iTunes hack has come from one of the following two possibilities:
1) you use the same password on another site as you did on your iTunes Store account. If someone knew your email address and could learn or guess that password from the other site, they'll attack any popular site to see if they can get in using that same password (since so many people use the same password on multiple sites). I've even read that hackers have developed automated attacks that can hit hundreds of sites once they have a password to try. Those automated attacks may also be randomly trying common passwords.
2) You fell for a "phish" email, purporting to come from Apple, asking you to verify your account information.
All I can offer in the way of suggestions for the future are to 1) make sure that you do not leave your Macs unattended, particularly not logged into your account, 2) that you are extremely cautions about what you download and install, never doing so from any nonverified or unknown site, 3) that you make any password you use non-obvious and difficult to guess ( never use things like children's or pet's names, particularly if you post that information on social sites like Facebook) and 4) that you do not ever give account information in response to any emailed request for that information, at least not without checking with the sender independently ( not by replying to the email) that they did indeed request the information.
Regards.

• "keylogging" and "anti-keylogging"

My concern is about "key logging". None of the "anti- key logging" software seems compatible with Apple products. If I should not be concerned, why not? Can someone "key log" my iMac from a remote location or do they need physical access to my iMac?

Hi, they'd need physical access, or be able to trick you into installing a hidden Key Logger, there may also be some way for it to be done without your consent by using Flash or JAVA, which is why both are recommended to be disabled.
Tough one to track down, but some old/limited info...

• Search bar backgroub dont show what i write, can this be change or the color of the letters can be change to black instead of white so i can see what i write?

when i open my Firefox browser i got Google as my home page and search engine so i click at the search bar and start typing, but i cant see what i write. i think this is do to the background of the search bar and also to the color of the letters which is white.
i have been trying to change this but i don't find the tools to do it and/or i don't have the knowledge to do it, thanks for you help.

Are you using a theme or persona that may set the color to white?
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

• Error uninstalling, and weird disk utility message?

So I installed a keylogging app call type agent and it came with an uninstall terminal command, which I just tried to run. Unfortunately, terminal won't let me run the command, giving me this prompt:
/Library/StartupItems/Type\ Agent/uninst ; exit;
Macintosh:~ Sinemus$ /Library/StartupItems/Type\ Agent/uninst ; exit;
/Library/StartupItems/Type Agent/Type Agent: line 23: kill: (120) - Operation not permitted
I'm the admin, so I don't know why it won't let me uninstall this - what can I do?
Also, when I run disk utility (which takes forever now, btw), I get this:
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.
What's it mean?

Hello
you do not need any cd to perform a disk repair / check , you need to start in single user mode
restart your mac , just after startup sound hold on , Comande and "S" key on key board togather until fall in comande line interface
type at cursor this
fsck -fy and validate by press enter key

Hi I'm having trouble with my records, i just shoot two videos for my vlogg and one was fine and the next one the audio is not sync with the video, didnt change any settings so dont understand wha happened. can some one help me fix this. thanks

Using the inbuilt camera on your MacBook Pro can result in audio not syncing with the video, due to the variable frame rate used by the camera.

• My new windows 7 machine and firefox color defaults for input boxes are obscurring the input box on the google search page making google unusable

Under Windows 7 Firefox looks quite different including the default blue for input to question boxes which are white on the xp machines. Normally this is not a problem. But on the Google web page the blue is so bold that nothing can be seen except for a very small portion of the characters (in red) extending below the input screen. This becomes miserable if you try to edit a search stmt or backspace to correct a spelling error. you are quickly lost and need to clear the cache and reload the page.
This problem does not appear using Chrome or IE on the same machine. Nor is it a problem using Firefox 9.0.1 on two other home PC's running XP (there no input box obscures the answer). This seems to be a lot of work.

That can be caused by the "Keystroke protection" in Comcast Constant Guard.
• Just a heads up

This morning I received a text that said the following:
"Your account verizon has been disabled by reasons of security enter link and confirm your data" followed by a link that I will not put here.
Now most of us, especially if you're an online gamer such as World of Warcraft, have been inundated with these idiotic messages in the form of email and we already know what they are, not to mention their grasp of the English language is a bit off.
However, we do have children who have cell phones who may be naive enough to click on this.
Please let them know not to!
This is keylogging program that can go in and get private information about you, your family and your financial information. Blocking is not a bad idea but rest assured they have more than one route to your phone. I don't know if the staff of Verizon reads these forums. I hope they do.

• Iphone security in public and security settings?

When using an iphone (5s) are there particular security meassures you are suppose to take when in public? I assumed, at first, it would be similar to using a laptop, however, I understand an iphone has no fire wall?
Is it safer to use one's carrier for banking and the like when in public on public wifi or through your iphone carrier?
And/or is it helpful to have a password manager? I know that Lastpass is one type of password manager and has one-time passwords for public use with laptops -- but is it necessary to use one time passwords on the iphone?
What about keylogging?
Also are there any particular security settings or tips I should know about?
I did call iphone on these questions, but I wasn't able to get through to someone who would actually be able to answer my questions. Basically, she told me she's had no issues with using her iPhone and takes no such precautions.
I'd appreciate some guidance here, thanks!

Here's the deal: When on ANY public WiFi, use common sense...if you go to any site, look for HTTPS, you see that, & your data is encrypted. But, you gotta make sure you see that on every page...some sites only use HTTPS for the login page, so be careful. If you don't see HTTPS, don't enter any personal information.
Do that, & you don't have to worry. I go even futher...I never go to any of my banking, credit card, or other financial sites using public WiFi.
Be aware, a sophisticated user, even if you were on an HTTPS site, could steal your session & act as you on that site.
In other words, there are no 100% secure public WiFi spots.
I never check mail on any public WiFi spot. If using my phone, I use 3G, if using my laptop, I Tether.
Folks use VPN's for the simple reason that public WiFi networks are real easy to packet sniff with a laptop & easy to obtain software. Most corporations require the use of VPN's for their mobile devices, users don't have a choice. You should never use a public WiFi to do anything that could expose your finances or passwords that you'd really regret, if someone stole those details.
If the public WiFi spot is in Billings, Montana, you most likely don't have much to worry about...Grand Central Station...assume everything you do on that WiFi is being copied.
