Keynot export as Interactive Quicktime to Windows fails

I'm using Keynote 2.02. When I export my presentation as an Interactive Quicktime file, the file will not play at the Windows XP machine without error promts every time a " page is turned" in the presentation. Just as if Quick time (in Windows) was looking for a new image and cannot find it. The XP Internet Explorer error promt states "Cannot find 'file:///c:/.........presentationfile_name.mov_slidexxx'. Make sure the path or Internet address is correct.
Anyone have a clue ?
Max

Yes this is a known issue. If the PC is running QuickTime 7, interactive QuickTime movies won't work.

  • Keynote export options using Quicktime and iDVD

I am not happy with the output of HD Keynotes exported to iDVD...they work well with triggering the events with a click but the fonts look blocky. There is no way to upgrade the export settings to improve the quality.
I'm trying to squeeze as much out of Keynote as possible... and it seems I'm hitting a few problems.
Exporting the same Keynote to QT gets the clarity I want...because I can select the higher settings...and I can even "click" to trigger the events in QT Pro on my MBP... but as soon as I burn it in iDVD the clicks fail.
I am hoping to combine the clickability of the export to iDVD movie with the quality of the export to QT movie.
And I am soooo close.... I have discovered that the "clickability" seems to be controlled by a layer in the file called a Presentation Pause Track (found when I look at the movie properties).
Have you come across this before?
My plan was to extract the track and then add it to the hi res QT movie!!! I burnt the resulting QT to iDVD and the clicks were there!!! But the were all out of sync!
I discovered the Presentation Pause Track is a different length than the QT export... and even when I've subsequently added the PPtrack using "add to selection and scale" it is still out of whack!
Your help, guidance, commiserations would be appreciated...
Surely there is a way to have my HD Quicktime cake and eat it too!

    Cheers Brian
I'm green with envy re the 8 core Mac Pro!
To add to the info: I'm trying to find out how you can export to QT and iDVD and get a 2 movies of the same length... which should allow me to copy the pause track over and not lose sync with the clicks.
My latest test involves a 2 page Keynote (HD res) and the resulting QT export gave me a movie of 43 seconds while the iDVD export came out 57 seconds...
That's with the default settings for slide and build duration of 5 and 2 sec. (could that represent 2 pages of 5 + 2 sec?)
iDVD lets you alter these settings but to a minimum of 1 sec for each... QT export doesn't let you change these except for a self playing movie... so I'm now testing a self paced QT set at 1 and 1 sec and an iDVD set to 1 and 1 and see what happens...
Do you think I'm on the right track or am I wasting my time?
At least 8 cores might help reach theat conclusion a little faster!!

  • Exporting an  interactive quicktime movie to be be used on PC

I have created a Keynote 06 presentation that is to be interactive. I exported to Quicktime using Sorenson 3 compress, best setting. When I go to watch the presentation it is not interactive. My goal was to create a Keynote presentation that stays on until I click on the PC laptop and this would tell Keynote to advance 1 slide and hold until I click the the keyboard again. What I currently have is a Quicktime movie which is 5m33s total running time it plays all the way through, it is not interactive at all. I need to know what am I doing wrong. I have to deliver this presentation for tomorrow A.M. so any and all help is appreciated.
    Sebastian

    No, no special keys.
At this point, I'd suggest creating a two frame presentation with a hyperlink on the first slide that takes you to the second slide and a hyperlink on the second slide that takes you to the first slide. No transitions, just text on the slides labeled slide one and slide two.
See if you can get this simple presentation to work correctly. If it doesn't determining what the problem is will be a lot easier than working with a large presentation.

  • Keynote export works in QuickTime 7 but not 10

I have a Keynote that I exported to QuickTime, but it only plays in QuickTime 7. It will not play in QuickTime 10 (it freezes with the spinning beach ball when I try to open with QuickTime 10).
    What could cause this?
    Is there any solution?

    There's nothing to fix.
QuickTime 10 can't play all of the formats (codecs) that play just fine in QuickTime Player 7.
    Use both versions.

  • Video_ts to Flash or Interactive Quicktime

Does anyone know of software that will allow me to take an interactive DVD I create in DVD Studio Pro and turn it into an interactive Quicktime or Flash file ?
This would be of great use for some of the smaller projects, and I get asked for it now and then for variouse reasons.
    Any thoughts ?
    Best regards

    Thanks Drew
Thats what I thought, I was just hoping
Something that will take me an hour in DVDSP will easily take me several hours in flash (and that's being conservative) I'm really not very good at flash and don't have much interest in it, but for some reason it seems to be a commonly requested format for "prototypes" and the like. Usually the prototypes don't have all the video content, but they are usually most interested in the look/feel/navigation of things.
anyhow, thanks again. If there's any aspiring programmers out there (or an Apple rep.) this would be a nice program to have, or an export to prototype option that would allow export to interactive quicktime and/or flash within DVDSP itself would be awesome !

  • Keynote export to Quicktime fails with any animation

I'm making recordings of Keynote slideshows, and I keep running into the same problem: any time I include an animation, of any sort, the export to Quicktime fails. Any advice?
Specifically, regardless of the format (whether it's an animated GIF, a Quicktime movie, or ???), I have the animation set to begin immediately, on transition. I can see it animating while I'm talking. When I export it to Quicktime, my voice continues, but Keynote remains stuck on the first frame. Sometimes it does animate a little bit, toward the end of the time that I'm on the slide, but regardless, voice and video sync are way, way off for the rest of the movie.
Has anyone else encountered this and fixed it? I've seen one person be advised to export using fixed timing, but that's not an option for me: the amount of time I spend on the different slides varies quite a bit.

Yeah, it's pretty simple- with your keynote slideshow open, just open quicktime player, go to "file" then "new screen recording". A little box will open with a record button. Press record, and then play your slideshow in keynote from the beginning. You will have to wait and let it record in real time. After it is done, it will prompt you to save it as a quicktime movie. Then you just have to open iMovie, click "import" and then select the quicktime movie you just made. Then click the musical note button on the lower right, select the mp3 of the VO track or music that you want to use, and drag that onto the timeline. You should right-click and select "detach audio" so you can move it around and get the timing you need. Then just "finalize project" and you're done! Easy-peezie.
And I have no idea about future keynote updates...overall it's a nice program but the exporting problems definitely need to be addressed.

  • Interactive quicktime failure by keynote

i am using keynotes 2.0 with quicktime pro.
i am thinking to creating a quicktime movie, which can be clickable in last frame linked to a webage.
i tried adding HREFtrack in quicktime pro but it fails.
so i import the movie to keynotes and try to export to interactive .mov file. however, the end item does work in pc and mac's quicktime pro player but not normal players.
is it possible to make the interactivity applicable to all quicktime standalone players?
    thanks,

Welcome to the discussions, Chi Hang,Ray Chan!
QuickTime Pro should only make a difference when creating content, not playing it. During playback, the Pro player and the non Pro player are the same. If you take a Pro player and then remove the serial number (making it a non-Pro player) does it still work? (remember to keep your serial so you can re-enter it later.

  • Keynote - no sound when I play and interactive quicktime presentation

    Hello Everyone,
I have a problem that maybe someone can help me with.
I have made a keynote presentation and have added some quicktime movies with sound inside the presentation. When I veiw the presentation out of keynote everything - presentation, movies with sound work fine. But when I export it as an interactive quicktime presentation including audio the presentation and movies work but there is no sound for the movies.
Does anyone know the solution for this?
    Thanks,
    Wes

Are the movies mpeg1 by chance? If so, that's the problem. The QT engine doesn't know how to use the audio from the mpegs, so when you're exporting it removes it. Playing it in Keynote is fine, but exporting loses the audio.
Most people have learned to rip their mpeg1 movies into another format before putting them in Keynote if they're planning on exporting as a movie.

  • Using interactive QuickTime movie on Windows is fixed!!

With the release of 7.2, the problem listed in this thread
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=154423&tstart=0
has been resolved! If you update your PC to QuickTime 7.2, interactive QuickTime movies exported from Keynote will work without opening Internet Explorer

    Welcome to the discussions, Christopher.
Over in the Keynote discussions we've been going over this for quite awhile. Unfortunately, there's no easy solution to your problem. I've even gone as far as attempting to preload the chapter track thinking that might solve the problem, but it doesn't work.
One thing I don't think I've tried is setting up the first slide to advance "on-click" so that there's no animation before the first transition. The problem, of course, is that there's no "loading" animation to let it know when it's ready to go.
Another thing I haven't tried but that might work is to create the movie so that it doesn't autoplay, and then, using the embed commands, set autoplay to be the full length of the movie (so that it will automatically play, but only after it's completely downloaded). Look here for the autoplay embed commands.

  • Issue : How to get better definition of fonts/typography in Keynote when exporting to HD Quicktime ?

    Hello,
I understand there are no possibilities to "add" a vector button to future keynote allowing crisper and smoother fonts. However, when writing texts with effects in a Keynote presentation, and exporting it to Quicktime , whatever the resolutions chosen and clors and settings, still, effects are smooths, but  fonts/typography/texts are not clean, crisp and when using a big display in full screen , the .mov or .mpeg4 outcome still always displays poor resolution for text.
Anyone could suggest something ? I want to be able to choose my texts effects on Keynote, while securing an outstanding fonts/texts resolution and apperance when in HD movie, quicktime or else.
Thanks a million for any suggestions guys !
    Isa

I have several video clips from iStockPhoto. I don't know what camera's/settings were used, but know that they are all 640x360 px and vary between 25 fps and 30 fps. I also have 3 still images that I have insterted that I formatted to be 640x360 to keep everything the same size. Everything appears correct when viewing the project as I've built it. I'm attaching a few screen shots of the most recent settings for export, though these are not the only that I have tried. Everything comes out with the same result.
I can't insert screen shots of my settings for some reason (?) but here is some info on my most recent try. I chose to export as a Microsoft DV AVI. Then in the Video options I'm using the DV NTSC codec. For size, I chose the D1/NTSC Widescreen 16:9 (1.2) option.
As for other times I've tried this, there are only 2 other codecs to choose from when saving as a DV AVI. I've tried both of them too. Everything has had the same result. I've tried a Quicktime file as well.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to the best file/codec/setting combination?
    Thanks,
    Holli

  • Movie in Keynote doesn't export properly for QuickTime

Hello all. I really hope someone can help with this. I've used the discussions before with great success so THANK YOU all for sharing your expertise.
I've got a keynote presentation that for the most part exports perfectly on QuickTime. The only part that doesn't export right are the 2 videos I've got on the presentation. I set the timing with the inspectors for it to start automatically and even added a song to play along with the presentation. But when I export it, there is about an extra minute and 15 seconds added to the whole video and I've got the presentation timed perfectly with keynote and the song. I've got iWork '09 and QT 10.0. Not pro just player.
I've played with the custom settings to no avail. Any way to get the videos to export exactly to their lengths?
    Cheers

I don't know if this is the answer you're looking for but I'll share my experience. Like you, I have three videos in my presentation. Once I exported it as a QT movie, the delays that I built in with the Inspector to allow the movie to play before the next slide transition, played AFTER the video ran. I went back and just put in a 1.5 second delay in and the videos run fine. I'm guessing that QT sees the video and allows it to play and THEN looks at the Delay setting.
Now if someone can just tell me how to get the audio soundtrack to shut down during my three videos but play during the rest of the presentation...

  • Export the pdf from indesign some error Pop Up window (Failed to Export the PDF file). How slove the

Export the pdf from indesign some error Pop Up window (Failed to Export the PDF file). How slove the problem
Please some one help on this

You need to try exporting the first half of the book.
If that exports ok then export the other half of the book.
Whatever half it fails on - keep dividing the book in half to find the culprit page or pages.
For example if your book is 128 pages long:
    1. Export pages 1 - 63
    2. If these Fail to Export then
    3. try exporting1-32
    4. If these Fail to Export
    5. then try exporting1-16
If it doesn't fail (step 2)
    Then export pages 64-128
    and 64-90 etc.
until you find the pages causing the issues.

  • Audio on keynote exported quicktime videos cuts out at 50 seconds?

It just started!  When I export my keynote into a Quicktime file, the audio cuts out at 50 seconds.  I have been creating videos a long time with this method and never had problems before.

I am willing to share files with Apple. Mine are copyrighted, but are shareable.
But here's a wrinkle on the problem that puts me a little more in sympathy with Apple engineers, since they may well not have encountered the subtle environments we have that is generating this audio problem.
I was having the same problem you are for several days after I upgraded to Keynote 6.5 and Yosemite 10.10 (running on a mid-2011 MBA). I duplicated a keynote file with audio recorded that cut out after 50 seconds or so: audio stopped on slide 2 even though I had recorded and saved the whole 50 minute presentation. I store my keynote presentations along with Quicktime movies (m4v) and downsampled mp4 files in a sparsebundled disk image. I created a new, larger disk image yesterday because I was running out of storage space. To do that, I copied all the files in the sparsebundle to a temporary folder on a backup drive (My Mac Book Air is running out of storage space). Then, I deleted the old sparse bundle, created the new one, and copied all the files back.
After reading your latest post, I thought I would try again. I opened my test Keynote file, now copied to the new sparse bundle, and the audio works! I can hear the audio in the Keynote file when I "Play Recorded Slideshow" from the Play menu. I also exported to a Quicktime m4v movie and the audio is all there. The Keynote file size didn't change during all this: still 36.8MB, which is typical for the audio recorded ones. I start with a 2 to 4MB presentation of 15-20 slides, record audio, and the file size increases to 35-40MB. Then the Quicktime m4v is typical 200-300MB. This one is: 239.4MB.
So, although the bug is not squashed, take heart and don't delete those files! Your audio may actually be in there somewhere.

  • Keynote does not support exporting with embedded Quicktime Movies

I hope this helps a few of you out before you run into this problem.
Keynote does not support export to Quicktime with any slides that contain a quicktime movie.
Created a 27 page slide show with transitions, music, narrations and 6 Quicktime movies (Actually LiveType Text scrolls)
When I attempted to export it never finishes the export cutting it short after about 20 pages.
And the pages with the movies, don't start playing.
It exports fine as a quicktime movie without the movies inserted though.
Spoke with Apple Support and they confirmed that quicktime placed files within Keynote playback is only supported from the native Keynote Application.
I read somewhere on this board that it was an issue with Quicktime version 7.5, not so as I tried the same test on a mac with Quicktime 7.42 and it had the same issue.
    So, beware.
    LJS

Maybe I didn't understand well what you said but it is possible to export a Keynote file with embedded Quicktime movies to a quicktime movie. Actually, I'm doing it and I works. BUT, the issue I get is that I can't get my embedded videos to loop. Grrr...
