Keynote '08 handouts in portrait

I have a presentation in Keynote '08 and I am able to set-up the handouts with 6 slides per page for the PDF that I want to print. However, the page will only set-up in landscape and  I want the pages set-up in portrait. Does anyone have a recomendation to resolve this?

Use the Document inspector to create a custom slide size so that the printout is portrait...

  • Keynote '09 Handouts - Problem printing 6 slides per page

With Keynote '09, I'd like to print handouts of 6 slides per page, where the slides are of reasonable size, take up most of the space on the page, and are not oriented in a single vertical column. I used to be able to accomplish this with earlier versions of Keynote, but can't figure it out in Keynote '09. Anyone know the secret? Seems like a major flaw in the software.

In the Print dialog box, tell Keynote to print Individual Slides. Then go to Layout and tell the printer to print 6 slides per page and select the layout option that you would like.

  • Does keynote widget work in portrait

I can insert a keynote into an existing chapter (page) or section when in landscape mode but can't get it to when I am in protrait mode - I just get a beep.  Am I doing something wrong?  One time - not sure how I did it,  but I got it to insert in protrait mode but it went below that blue line that makes things invisible and it didnt show up in my proof.
    I am kind of baffled.

Not sure to be honest - it is the standard white theme with black bars under each chapter.  The chapter or section templates are varied but primarily the portrait template I have removed the two column formatting and just have a blank setion in the middle of the page.  When I try to insert keynote widget it just beeps and does nothing.  I have inserted in in the landscape version and it plays fine in proof.  So for now I just placed a note in the portrati version instructing the user to switch to landscape - seems kind of a "jack" work arouund though.

  • How do I change the slide layout to Portrait in Keynote (No document under Inspector)?

I have searched far and wide but I can't seem to find the way to shift my Keynote slide to a portrait view. I am working on Version 6.0.1.
Most of the comments suggest going to Inspector and using Document, but it is not appearing for me.  See screenshot below.  Any ideas?

Go into 'View' ... 'Inspector' ... 'Presentation Setup' and you get something akin to the document settings from Keynote 5, including the custom sizing 'Slide Size'
    That should do the trick.

  • Portrait power point not formatting correctly in keynote

I am moving from a pc to a mac. Most of the work that I would have created in pages on a mac was created in power point. From what I can tell is that keynote doesn't handle portrait mode. I really don't want to spend hours reformatting all my files. Is there an easy solution to this issue?
    Thanks!

Most of the work that I would have created in pages on a mac was created in power point.
Pages is a text creation tool from Apple used to create printed paper output, not for creating presentations.
PowerPoint is a presentation tool from Microsoft used to create screen based presentations.
Keynote is a presentation tool from Apple, used to create screen based presentations.
From what I can tell is that keynote doesn't handle portrait mode.
Keynote can present presentations in either; portrait, view or square formats;   Inspector > Document >Document > Slide Size > Custom Slide Size
I really don't want to spend hours reformatting all my files
If you have existing PowerPoint files they can be imported into Keynote and saved as Keynote files in whatever size format they were created in.

  • How can I export more than 6 slides to a page as a PDF in Keynote?

I need to export the slides in my Keynote presentation as a PDF so it can be printed and handed out for the participants to take notes with. It appears that the maximum number of slides per page I can export is (6) and even with that number, the slides are printed very small in a vertical row on the left side of the page. I need to print more slides per page and would like them spaced across the entire page with a small amount of space for notes. Is this possible?
    Thank you,
    Mark Maio

    Welcome to the forums!
You may want to use the hugely-helpful-but-little-known Layout options in the Print dialog to format the printed handouts as you want them, rather than using Keynote's Handout options. First, in the Print dialog, use the dropdown menu to go to the usual Keynote options, and choose Individual Slides, or Slides with Notes. These options will usually produce one slide per page. Now, use the same dropdown menu to go to the Layout options. Here, you can specify how many pages are printed on a single sheet of paper, and how they are arranged on that sheet. (You may need to also play with the page orientation in the Page Setup dialog to get the final effect you want.)

  • Handout Printing Margins

Can the margins be adjusted when printing handouts to allow document binding without bingding holes perforating the slides and notes?
    Thanks,
    b.

To expand, when printing handouts with notes...
On 10.4.11, Keynote 08 would leave a margin of about an inch all the way round the page. This is great for binding. Perfect!
On 10.6.4 Keynote 08 does not print notes. It crashes with the "SFWWordprocessing plug-in error. Ugh!
On 10.6.4 and Keynote 09, handouts with notes print with very small margins. This means slides and notes get horribly perforated when binding. Hmmm!
    Is there a workaround?
In the meantime we have had to downgrade an older Mac to 10.4.11 with Keynote 08 to enable successful printing of handouts for courses we run.
    Thanks,
    b.

  • Handout style of Keynote

The handout style of Keynote has changed and the new style is less favorable. I normally used 4 slides per page (vertical direction) and some lines on the right side to write down some remarks. Is there a way to solve this problem?

    Hi Dan,
You can still achieve this. When you open the print dialogue, click on the 'Keynote" settings and select "Page Attributes" from the dropdown. Then you can change the page orientation to Portrait. Then click back to "Keynote" and hit "Handout" and then you can tell it to give you 4 slides per page. Vertical page, 4 slides on the left, lined spaces to the right. Voila.

  • Since downloading the 2013 Keynote upgrade, the slide image size on handouts with 3 slides per page option is very small. Is there a way to make the slide size larger while still keeping 3 slides per page   lines?

With the new Keynote upgrade (version 6.1), the slide image size on handouts is very small, which makes it difficult to read slide content when compiling lecture notes for students. Is there a way to make the slide size larger while still keeping to a format of 3 slides per page with lines?

A number of posts have reported the same issue, two workarounds:
    1
check the paper handling options or equivalent in your print dialogue box and set to scale to fit

in the Keynote option, in the dropdown menu in the Print section, select Individual Slides
then choose Layout, and set the number of pages, when printed you will have multiple pages on a single sheet.

You can also turn off the automatic capitalization if you find it gets in the way too often:
    Settings -> Keyboard -> Auto-Capitalization

  • How do i have landscape and portrait slides in the same keynote file?

how do i create landscape and portrait slides in the same keynote file?

You cant, its one or the other not both, the slide size setting is for the whole presentation, not for individual slides.
The slide format is chosen to match the display the presentation is shown on. I have presentations showing on vertical, horizontal, square, circular and iregular shaped screens with rear projection, but a single format must still be set.

  • How to Create Presentation Handouts in Keynote

I'm a recovering PowerPoint user that's been using Apple Keynote for my presentations for about a year. I find it much friendlier to graphics and media. It took me a while to figure out how to create B/W six slide/page handouts that I could easily PDF to clients. PS. I use the Mac native pdf creation tools (too cheap to buy Adobe Acrobat for my Mac). Thought I'd pass it along.
    Here's a link to a step-by-step on my blog. http://tinyurl.com/9rvrzx
    Hope this helps,

  • Handout printing for keynote

Power point makes very nice handouts -- six or four to a page, whatever you want. In keynote when I print handouts with 6 slides to a page, I can only get it to print tiny little slides that are unreadable and run down the left side. How can I get it to print 6 slides that take up the whole page? Or 4 slides with room for notetaking?
    MU

    MU,
    welcome to Apple Discussions.
Print your presentation (command-P). In the print dialog window open the third drop-down list (Copies & Pages). Select "Layout" and set the "Pages per Sheet" to "6". Then, for a test, choose preview.
If you want to print miniatures with lines for note taking, get 5-up-template for Pages from Brian Peat's site: http://www.keynoteuser.com/downloads/other.html
