Keynote 08 Subheading problem

I've installed new Keynote 08. When I open files from previous versions my subheadings do not show. That's hours and hours of work lost. There must be a simple solution. HELP, someone. Apparently, Apple doesn't have telephone support for program problems. THANKS [email protected]

Also note that this error will prevent you from being able to "Send To">"YouTube" as well.
I am seeing the exact same issues reported here by everyone else. Not sure what update screwed this up, but it was working fine less than a month ago (I do a series of 5 keynote presentations each month and it worked for the first one I did on June 7 but has not worked for the last two I tried).
I am also in need of a fast solution for this. I am pretty much dead in the water till I get a solution going.
My flash export also results in out of sync audio. Do I have to dig up powerpoint?
Also, it looks as if Quicktime is having a hard time with the file. Quicktime suddenly becomes very sluggish (IE: tons of delay when you click on menus or on pause when the keynote export is playing). Quicktime is NOT having these problems with video files from other sources.

Keynote 08 - problem exporting to Quicktime (no sound or video clip)

Having just spent a long time making and narrating a training slideshow intended for a screencast using Keynote 08 (4.0.3) I choose to export the show as a quicktime movie with the recording timings and recording narrative soundtrack. A screenshot of my settings is below.
The problems I have are:
1. The recorded narration is not present in the QT Mov file
2. A video animation of an embedded movie (screen capture) displays the first frame but does not play automatically
The show works fine if I play it in Keynote, but this is no good as I want to put it on the web!

Keynote Sync problems with music Playback

Dear Keynote Experts,
after long trying I can´t fix this problem.
I want to synchronize Pictures with 4s duration. This shall run in sync with a music playback which is 120 bpm. So it would be in Sync with the progression of the beats. At least the pictures don´t run smooth in my case during the presentation. I checkes the timing with a watch the and it seems as if the single pictures move in unequal durations. Weird?
I tried an Update of Quicktime and tested the whole thing with a new Keynote document only programmed for this syncing purpose. No success...
Maybe help lies in the intelligent animation tool or something like this which would help, otherwise it should be no great deal, to have the Pages properly changed each 4s.

yeah I do it like this. I record the whole thing with screenflow, as Kenote does a good resolution full screen.
I would like to export certain sections of my full grouped objects Image. I can refit it on a smaller paper size record this cutout full screen with Screenflow in high resolution, so far so good - but:
The problem is, when I use smaller paper sizes, the whole Object gets automatically scaled and the relations of the grouped Object are lost. Is ist possible to keep the absolute values of the objects (1cm stays 1 cm) when I switch to different sizes of the paper.

Exporting as PDF from Keynote type problem

Hi,
I'm trying to export a Keynote presentation as a PDF for a client leave-behind, and the PDF is not showing all fonts correctly. Some slides have simple text boxes that Adobe Reader and Acrobat render as complete gibberish. Other screens have Numbers spreadsheets that I exported successfully as PDFs (that render fine separately), but when the PDF is dropped into a keynote slide and then exported again as a PDF of the whole presentation, they turn into an unreadable mess.
I have seen error messages upon opening the PDF in Acrobat like this:
'Cannot extract the embedded font 'DKUXBZ+MyriadPro-It'. Some characters may not display or print correctly.'
But I don't know what 'DKUXBZ+' means. My Myrad Pro works fine in all my other applications.
Any ideas?

I would guess that you have upgraded to Mac OS X 10.6.7. If so there is a bug which affects PostScript OpenType fonts like Myriad Pro Italic.

The solution is to use a different (non-OpenType) font or revert to 10.6.6.

Keynote Streaming problems - skips bad

Hi, I want to watch the Expo Keynote streaming, but it is not working well. When I play the video in QT it skips and pauses all the time. really bad. Are there special preferences(enabling on?) that will help this problem? Have QT 7.04. I can stream MLB games live no problem, but always have problems with apple streams of Keynote. There must be a fix. Can I watch it on another app?

Matthew, the problem is that your video card can't handle the video. I have a G3 700MHz iMac and the HD videos are unaccessible. Note that you should be able to view the Apple Expo 2004 event which was not formatted in HD. It's just time to upgrade if you want to watch the ever-increasingly data-intensive videos.

Mountain Lion, Keynote & Autosave problems?

I haven't upgraded to ML yet. Just curious about user experiences with keynote and autosave. When I upgraded to Lion, autosave would interrupt my typing with the "spinning wheel". It was so disruptive to my workflow that I downgraded to the last version of iWork before autosave/versions were implimented. I understand that 10.8.2 allows you to "disable" autosave somewhat in system preferences (and restores "save as..." to some degree). Yet, it seems that this option does not completely shut off autosave. I am aware that iWork has been updated, but my initial experience with autosave/versions was extremely frustrating. It seems like Apple has addressed some of my problems and added some new features that are desirable, but I'm not sure if I should stand pat or upgrade. Just looking for a little feedback...

First of all, you shouldn't get the spinning wheel on autosave that indicates there's some problem.
But if you don't care for autosave and versions and personally, I don't. You can just run this command in Terminal to shut it off
defaults write -g ApplePersistence -bool no
Then restart.
Or, in Finder, Get Info on ~/Library/"Saved Application State". (You have to first get to ~/Library, either by unhiding it or by holding option as you click on Finder's "Go" menu.) Then enable the "Locked" checkbox, near the top of the Get Info window.

Keynote effect problems

I have an almost new last generation macbook pro with 4 GB of RAM, 2.66 GHZ intel dual core processor, and an Nvidia graphics card with 256 MB of VRAM yet despite this many of the effects in Keynote 09 are not going as fast as they should be, in fact they're just going plain slow when I try to play the slide show as though I'm using a 10 year old computer. I have tried making the effects last longer (and thus animate slower) but that hasn't changed the speed at all either. I have no idea what is going on and none of my other programs are showing any slowdown. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

At what point does it freeze?
After you have burnt them to a DVD or CD?
When you run them from the disk in your computer or run them as files from your Mac.
When they freeze what format are they in? Still Keynote, or have you converted them to .mov or QuickTime?
Are you by any chance turning them into a DVD to run in a DVD player?
Please take the time to explain the problem clearly and legibly.

Keynote transition problem - PPT slides shift when animation added in KN

I've had to import PPT presentations into KN and they work pretty well overall, except that, when I add a NEW animation to any slide, the slide shifts slightly during transition. Also, some of the fonts and images appear slightly jagged.
The same import and animation settings work fine in 06. I'd love to take advantage of 08's new transitions and animations and other features though!

The problem persists.
However, one thing we discovered is that the Keynote 08 file runs great on the MBP with the newer NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT card.
On the Mac Pro, which has an NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT, the problem occurs, as well as on a MPB with the ATI Radeon X1600.
There's no videocard firmware update for either the MacPro or the older MPB.

Keynote/StreamingAudio Problems

I've been trying to watch the new Apple Keynote today. I can see the video, but I can't hear the audio. My Quicktime software if up to date, I don't think i'm missing any plug-ins (but i'm not sure). Any ideas?

I've had the same problem since I upgraded from an ibook G3 to my C2D MacBook Pro. This has happened for every address I've tried to watch.

IOS 5 and the keynote remote problems.

After updating to IOS5, the keynote remote on my iPod touch (4 gen) does link with keynote on iPad 2. Can only link over wifi. The Bluetooth link worked perfectly before update. I have tried all options I can think of, such as hard restart, restore on both devices. Can someone help.

I reported the problem on itunes as scubidoobie suggested. The reply I received was not helpful at all. They recommeded consulting the Apple support page for keynote remote, which is where I started in the first place. I agree that we should all bombard Apple via itunes about this problem (see scubidoobie's reply) and get them to fix it.
I found a workaround on another posting, which is clumsy but worked for me. It may be a solution until Apple updates the remote. The idea is to use another app that can link the 2 devices by bluetooth.
1. Get Pic transfer lite (free app) and install on both ipad and iphone (or ipod touch).
2. Activate bluetooth on both devices.
3. Launch keynote on one device and the remote on the other device.
4. Launch pic transfer on both devices and follow the prompts to sync bluetooth
5. Now double push the home button on both devices to pull up the multi-tasking bar
6. Open keynote and keynote remote on the relevant devices.
5. In keynote, go to settings, advanced, remote. You should now be able to link the remote - on the device running the remote, you may need to hit settings and then 'new keynote link'.

Keynote export problem

I am trying to export a keynote project with an imported GB soundtrack to itunes so I can burn it to a disk. I follow the instructions but only the first slide gets exported. What do I need to do?

Ok, I fixed the problem. I exported the Keynote presentation as a Quicktime video. It had the glitched slide, that didn't display right. I imported the movie into iMovie. I exported the one slide as a picture file, and then in iMovie, I pasted the picture into the position where the slide was missing. That only took me a day to come up with. Seems to have worked. Hopefully someone will end up benefiting from this.

Keynote/iTunes problem

Why can't I play iTunes in Keynote on my new MacBook Pro? I installed iWork '05 instead of '06 trial version. Same version I had on my iBook G4. When I open an application in Keystone and try to play it the music won't play. So I placed the song in the trash and reloaded it from iTunes and it still won't play. In fact when I bring up the iTunes screen in Keynote and try to play a song it won't play there either. The little speaker comes on but no sound. Any suggestions??

I had a similiar problem, even today. Both my ibook and imac are authorised for the same movies (a pixar one) and when I imported into a keynote, (imac has the account, the ibook is the slave), keynotes somehow cracked it, said I was not authoirsed and then shut down my ibook. Now I cannot import any of the movies , so I am wondering has the DRM been corrupted or the actual keynotes file?

Keynote synchronisation problems

Verwende Keynote 08 für eine Präsentation mit über 500 Fotos und einer in GarageBand erstellten Tonspur aus verschiedenen Liedern (45 Minuten). Keynote Update Problem

I opened up Keynote, and was told that there was an update available (4.0.2), then software update ran, and told me that there were no update available for my computer! This has happened recently with some other bits of software.
Which is wrong, Keynote, or the software update? And what do I need to do to sort this problem?

Make sure Keynote (same goes for Pages) is in your in a folder called "iWork '08" in your "Applications" folder. Otherwise the software update doesn't find it.

Keynote Image Problem

Any ideas on this one? I've had students who put pictures in Keynote (internet, copies of a file from their server, scanned picture, digital picture), and when the student opens it at a later time (after saving it) the picture disappears. All that's left is a box with an X.
Any ideas on how to fix this (other than deleting the box and putting the picture back in)?

I have a user that is also experiencing this problem. She was working on a keynote presentation, saving it to the server. At one point she saved and closed the document and the next time she opened it the pictures were missing. The file had gone from 2.5G to 760K in size. She was dragging and dropping the images in or copying and pasting from another document, depending on the image. I'm not sure what format the images she was adding were (and neither is she). When I checked the package contents of an earlier version of the presentation all the images were listed as .tiff and
She's using a Macbook 2Ghz DC w/ 1G ram. Keynote version 3.02, Mac OS 10.4.11. The server is a Windows 2003 server.
