Keynote '08 with movies to Flash

Is there any way to export a Keynote '08 file with movies to Flash? I get the following error:
"Couldn't export a media file on slide..."
Thanks fro replying.

Welcome to the discussions, Shell Beach Ash.
No, there's not a way to do this because Keynote doesn't currently export video to Flash files.

  • Keynote Problem with Movies

I wonder if anybody can help with a weird problem. I made a two-slide presentation I'm keynote that included a music track from iTunes. I exported to QuickTime and it worked perfectly. I uploaded the movie (.mov file) to Dropbox and the audio dropped right at the point where the second slide would have started. I then uploaded the the movie to Vimeo and the audio dropped in the same way. So to recap, the audio in the movie fully played out when I opened it in QuickTime on my Mac but dropped halfway through when I ploaded to Dropbox and Vimeo. Does anybody know why this is happening and how to fix it?
    Much appreciated.

Probably because the iTunes file has an embedded  Digital Rights Management certificate which prevents unauthorised publishing of copyright music to web sites such as Youtube.

  • Problem with dreamweaver and Flash

Hi, maybe someone can help me, i have any problem with
dreamweaver and flash, i have a page and i have a menu and
    sub-menu, and the same page i have a category en flash 550 x 700 (
photography and more... ) but when the menu to unfold
the menu to see under flash and it cant see ( sorry my
english is bad.... i hope you can understand me, and help me.. )
i dont now why always flash ever stay up, or first, and
another information under flash... this a problem... if you have
    menus...
    thanks.... have nice day.....

This is a drawback of using flash or any other active
content. By default, all active content including flash will
display over every other content and thats why your menu stays
under the flash movie. Some people make the flash background
transparent to show content under the flash movie, but that will
    not work for menu items.
I would suggest that you make the menu such that it does not
    overlap with the flash movie.

  • Big Blunder with movies in iPhoto '08 and web galleries

I've just upgraded to iLife '08 and found a REALLY BIG BLUNDER in the use of movies with iPhoto and the web gallery. As it is, the new 10GB limit won't be enough for diddly squat of movie hosting.
I've got a Canon A640 that saves to .JPG and .AVI formats. iPhoto opens a gallery with them just fine.
But .AVI movies take up ~50MB per minute of video. A 2 minute movie I made is about 100 MB, while a 9 minute movie is 550MB in size. So while it's fine to view them on your desktop, you do NOT want to upload them!
However, iPhoto has no ability to convert .AVIs to any other formats.
I went into iMovie and manually selected each .AVI clip and Exported it as "medium" to my local drive. Ok, this gets you a .m4v file that's much more workable.
Going back to iPhoto ... uh, gee, "iPhoto cannot recognize that file format".
The new iMovie can export exactly ONE format -- .m4v -- and iPhoto thinks it's an iTunes file and won't work with it. Thanks a lot guys. What movie format IS iPhoto expecting to use, exactly?
I went over to the Apple store and presented my dilemma to one of the geniuses there, and the ONLY solution he could recommend was to get a license for Quicktime Pro and use it to do the conversion to .MP4. But, even then, iPhoto won't recognize .MP4 files in your folder. You have to explicitly import them. Again, iPhoto seems to like movies, but ... in what formats?
As an aside, MP4 files are smaller than M4V files, but the additional compression takes quite a toll on the image quality.
I filled up two 4GB SD chips with a couple dozen photos and several movies. The way iPhoto works right now, the only way to get these movies onto a .Mac gallery is to upload them directly, which is NOT a good idea! They take up an ENORMOUS amount of disk space, take FOREVER to upload, and I doubt users will find it very fun waiting for a 500MB download to view them (which download will take longer than the length of the video being viewed).
iPhoto needs a way to recognize .AVI files and STRONGLY discourage you from uploading them -- offering instead to convert them to something more useful, like .M4V format, WITHOUT having to swith over to iMovie or use Quicktime or some other program to do the conversion.
It also needs a way to tell it to handle other movie file format besides .AVI files.
    Thanks
    -David

Errrr.... you guys are totally missing the point.
Apple sells little Canon cameras, and they have them sitting right next to just about every Mac in the store. Ever noticed them? Maybe you own one? (I suspect not because you probably would have noticed this already if you did.)
These Canon cameras take two types of images: stills are .JPGs and movies are .AVIs. Got that?
JPGs are compressed and "ready to use".
AVIs are UN-compressed and NOT "ready to use". You can play them locally and they look fine. But there's not much to tell you they're HUGE FILES. When I say "huge", I'm taling 50 MEGA-BYTES PER MINUTE huge. That means a measley 2 minute clip is 100 MEGA-BYTES in size. OK? Now, what's the download rate on your iPhone? How long will it take you to view a 2-minute AVI file? But, surely, nobody is dumb enough to load them onto their Web Gallery, right? Keep on reading.
See, when you connect the camera to the computer, most people have their system set to open something like iPhoto or Aperture when the camera is connected. Agreed? (Maybe YOU don't, but LOTS of people DO.)
Notice that you can choose to have iMovie or Final Cut Pro or something else launch when you plug the camera in as well. It's up to you. Most people launch iPhoto - or Aperture if they've got it.
It so happens that iPhoto '08 loads in in BOTH sets of files. Why in the world iPhoto is happy reading in AVI files is beyond me, considering it won't recognize M4V files and has to be slapped to get it to take MP4 files. But it happily reads AVI files with no problem.
Now, if you've got your iPhoto set to AUTOMATICALLY SYNCHRONIZE with your WEB GALLERY, what happens?
Well, if you're like me and you filled two 4-GIGA-BYTE Flash cards with movies, and iPhoto launches (like when you plug the camera or flash memory into the computer) and starts to SYNCHRONIZE with your WEB GALLERY, what's gonna happen?
Did you actually TELL it to upload those files? NOPE! But it DID!
Several HOURS LATER your computer will finish UPLOADING 8 GIGA-BYTES of MOVIES to your WEB GALLERY! And if you interrupt it, well, it'll happily start over when you turn the computer back on again.
That's really nice since .Mac now has a 10 GByte limit. Two and a half 4-GB flash cards will fill up your .Mac account if you shoot movies with your Canon camera, have iPhoto set to launch when you attach your camera, and/or have it set to automatically synchronize with your web gallery.
All I'm saying is that if iPhoto is going to work with movie files, it should NOT blindly upload AVI files, NO WAY. I'd much prefer it if it would let you apply some kind of compression to them, eg., turn them into MP2 files. (MOV files are even bigger than AVI files, from what I can tell.)
We're not talking about what you THINK about doing. We're talking about the DEFAULT BEHAVIOR of the program for a VERY COMMON SCENARIO -- that you don't HAVE to think about.
So it's very possible that while you're happily editing your AVI movies in iMovie or Final Cut, iPhoto is happily sitting in the background uploading the same files to your Web Gallery. And you are clueless.
    Is that making sense now?

  • Interactive pdf with movies/swf files doesn't work in up-to-date Acrobat Reader

Hi, I've a CS6 InDesign doc with movies (MP4's from a URL) and a few swf files. When exporting as an interactive pdf, all the links, movies, swf's work fine in my Acrobat Pro. They work fine on other peoples PC's with Acrobat Pro. But on all my clients PC's with up to date Reader, the movies are playing slow, and the pdf just doesn't work as expected. With links to next page etc not working either. They have up dated their Flash Player too. Still not working well.
Is there a magic fix? Can I re-save this pdf differently so they can experience all the interactive features properly?
I created a similar pdf last year from CS5, but adding in the movies & links on the pdf. Do I have to do this again?
Yours, mostly quite fed uply, Gina !

Is it possible that your client's PC is just a very slow machine? You might consider cutting out some of the interactivity if your PDF is to complex to be handled by less powerful machines.

  • Keynote to quicktime movie to iDVD, no sound on dvd

I know this has been asked a million times, however I (a relatively recent Mac convert) absolutely can't believe that Apple would not allow this to work.
I have a keynote slideshow with music. I "send to iDVD" as well as "export" into a quicktime movie. Resultant files are movie and soundtrack. I bring into iDVD. Sound plays in iDVD. Burn dvd from iDVD, no sound on dvd.
C'mon, the instructions are there, the menus are there. Apple can't expect us to "import into iMovie, match movie and soundtrack" or "burn using disk utility" or otherwise do anything other than take a keynote and make it in to a dvd.
Worst case, can I just burn a CD or DVD that automatically plays the keynote with sound and doesn't have the cool DVD Menu?
Again, sorry for the "same old question", however I have not found a fix that worked nor do I believe that Apple means for this to be so difficult.
For those experts out there that have seen this question before, I really have spent a significant amount of time researching the problem and haven't found a fix that worked or an official response from Apple.
    Thanks again.

I am not running this on an intranet, I am creating a video for my students and posting it to my Internet web page. So if I were to post the keynote file itself, 4/5 of my students would be unable to open it because they don't have Macs. Some do not even have desktop computers and view stuff on their smart phones. I solved the issue, at least partially, by saving the presentation as html and posting it to my site that way. It works but it is a bit buggy. Would still rather make it into a movie.

  • Black mov videos (flash?)

    Hello there,
I'm a pretty new user of MacOS (I bought it in September!). I'm studying from a book, "Molecular Biology of the Cell", Alberts et al., and it has a bundled DvD with mov files.
There are tons of videos, and a lot of them are simply blank. Reading the "readme" from the DvD I noticed I have to turn on the flash support, this is what is written in:
IMPORTANT! Many of the QuickTime videos on the MBoC5 DVD include Flash tracks. By default, the ability to play Flash movies in QuickTime is turned off. In order to view the animations, you must enable Flash playback as follows (be sure to install the Flash Player application first; see below under third-party software).
    Windows:
    1. Launch the QuickTime Player application
    2. Choose PREFERENCES-->QUICKTIME PREFERENCES from the EDIT menu
    3. Click on the ADVANCED tab
    4. Click on the ENABLE PLAYBACK OF ADOBE FLASH TRACKS option under MEDIA TYPES if it isn't already enabled
    Macintosh:
    1. Select SYSTEM PREFERENCES from the Apple Menu.
    2. Click on the QUICKTIME icon
    3. Click on the ADVANCED tab
    4. If it isn't already enabled, click on the ENABLE FLASH option
So I went to sys. pref. -> quicktime -> advanced, but I didn't find any "Enable Flash" checkbox... is there any way to still see these videos? I have to see them u.u... reading in this section I saw the flash support has been cut off, but I don't want to install a previous version of the player, as like as I would be binded to it, and what about if I want to use a feature of next releases? What about the automatic updates? I allways have to uncheck QuickTime updates... Can I download an older quicktime and install in a subfolder of /Applications? Still I don't know if it's possible, as like as I think libraries would crash together...
    Any idea?
    Thanks.

Since QuickTime 7.3.1 Flash tracks are not supported and all you'll get is a black player window and hear the audio track.
You can only have one QuickTime install because it is a system component. You would have to archive and install the entire OS to get an older version.
A better solution would be to install Leopard (or Tiger) on an external hard drive. Use a custom install to use just the minimum amount of hard drive space and make just one User account.
You can then start your machine using this external drive (hold down the Option key at start up) and view your Flash track .mov files.

You can't. You need to do that in Dreamweaver.

  • Major problems using Keynote 09 with Keynote 08 files

Keynote 09 seems to have been let out into the wild a bit too early. I have encountered several major problems when using it on older KN08 files. From the Scroll bar in outline view, to almost every movie or sound file being corrupted and requiring a "reinsert," to an annoyingly common problem with images losing their formatting. It seems that the new file format in KN09 does not play well with KN08 (this was not the case with any of the previous version upgrades).
I have contacted Apple and shared these problems with them. I have removed KN09 from all my machines and have reverted back to KN08. Hopefully a future patch will correct this file corruption problem

Your presentations sound like they are much more involved and memory intensive than mine. I only have a couple with movies/sound and those are quite short. So far (knock on wood) I've not had any of your problems. However, as a matter of course I always create a backup file before starting to edit an old important file with a new program. Keep us posted.

  • When will Keynote support Magic Move between masked objects?

OK, moving an object from one slide to another is a cool transition, but when they say Move, they really just mean Move.  You would think it wouldn't be that hard to support the Magic Move transition between two masked objects but it can't be done. And many a folk here wish it could be by the postings I've seen.
Essentially it would allow you to zoom in on a portion of an image as you transition to the next slide, or zoom out to see the big picture.
Come on Apple, we're begging you.

    Thanks for posting Dave.
I noticed this too (along with position problems with builds imported from Keynote 08). Magic Move is definitely a work in process. Make sure you pass your observations on to Apple via the Keynote Menu>Provide Keynote Feedback with reference to this thread.
Very much looking forward to the next release for Keynote 09.

  • Converting LiveType movie to Flash?

Is there anybody that knows of a way to convert a LiveType movie (i.e. Quicktime movie) to Flash format for webpages? I have already tried to put a web banner I created in LiveType into my company's webpage, but it loaded very slowly on a high-speed internet connection (T1, to be specific).
I was noticing that parts of the Apple website have Flash animations (ex: in the Final Cut Studio area), and was wondering if any of those animations were created with Apple's own software (like Motion) or by a third party....
If anyone can help answer this question, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank You

Sounds like your FLV's are not being encoded with the proper bite rate. I have no quality problems with FLV's (I've been doing them for clients for a few years). As far as comparing FLV's to a swf stream, if you're talking vector animation, then you're basing the wrong comparison.
Frankly, I wouldn't rely on something like LiveType to create an animated GIF, that's what Photoshop/Imageready and Fireworks are for, and they will work very well with LiveType and are darn good at what they do.

  • Importing movie to Flash 8 and error message appears

I have tried to import a movie into Flash 8 and the message appears "The operation could not be completed as an error has occurred".  It will not pu the movie on to the stage.  Do you think there is something wrong with the movie file or am I missing a step?  This is what I do:
    1) open a new flash file
    2) file - import video
    3) browse to find the movie file and then click next
    4) Click the option 'progressive download from a web server'
    5) I dont change any of the default settings and I don't want a skin on it
    6) It runs through like it is making the file and then the message appears "The operation could not be completed as an error has occurred".
Any ideas what I am doing wrong??
    Thanks,
    Rachel

Now that I have restored my pc to the time before installing Autodesk, the
    import facility now works again.
If you have installed programs that you do not really need, the best thing
to do is either uninstal them, or restore your computer through the control
panel.  If you do need them you could try using another flash encoding
program, encode it through that and then open the file in your flash
    program.
There is also a program called "Super" that enables flash encoding.  It
sounds good, and I am going to check it out as it is a freeware.
If it works well I may use it to encode the video into flash:-
If interested, here is the link
    http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
I too have very little knowledge in computers, but I like the creative side
    of using flash.
    Hope this helps a little.
Let me know how you get on.

  • Problem with .MOV

    Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with .mov files in After Effects. Here is my system:
    Windows 7 64 bits
    Sabertooth X58
    Intel i7 920 @2.67GHz
    Nvidia GTX 640
    12 GB Corsair DDR3
    Adobe CS6
The problem: Some .MOV files I play in After Effect look corrupted:
When I play them, it they make my computer bug until it freezes or shows a Bluescreen. But the files aren't corrupted as they play without problem on VLC (independant from Quicktime). The problem also happens in Premiere and even Quicktime (Quicktime version: 7.7.4 (1680.86)). I can work without problem with some .MOV so I checked the codec of the different files. "Apple PNG" and "Apple Photo JPEG" are making my system crashing. But I can play, work with or export "avc1" without any trouble.
The other day I actually noticed a similar problem in Nuke. I worked with another .mov file (avc1) without any issue but once I tried to render it to a .MOV file (Apple PNG), the rendered files had the same kind of corrupted-looking (lines and sometimes green screen). When I export it in a normal png-sequence there was no problem.
    Already tried but didn't solve:
    - updating to last graphic drivers
    - reinstall Quicktime
    - reinstall an older version of Quicktime
    - updating DirectX (I already had last version)
    - try with or without CUDA in After Effects
    - try to load the .mov from another harddisk
    - set Quicktime to "Safe mode (gdi)" (doesn't help for After Effects)
    - try to convert the file to a png sequence in Quicktime (crashed after rendering a few frames)
    Has anyone an idea?
    Thanks in advance!
    Sakat
    #update 1:
    - Tried to convert a ".mp4" file to an ".mov Apple PNG". Then I convert it again to a ".mp4" with Wondershare Video Converter (the errors do not happen with that software). I can be play without problem on VLC that last ".mp4".
    - Tried to play an ".avi" file in Quicktime: system crash.
    - Tried to preview an ".mov Apple PNG" in half resolution in AE: system crash.
    - Tried to export a ".mov Apple PNG" to an ".AVI" and an ".mp4 H264": It exported but the files aren't playable in any soft (including VLC and Wondershare Video Converter). I did the same process to a ".mov Apple PNG", it freeze Windows.
    Message was edited by: Sakat

Today I tried to uninstall all Apple softwares, clean the register with CCleaner, delete Apple folders in Appdata (local, locallow, roaming), Flash the bios of my motherboard, reboot and then only reinstall the last version of Quicktime. And I tested all the advanced settings in Quicktime: safe mode (GDI), Directdraw acceleration, Direct3D acceleration. No result... I could play a "avc1 .mov" in Quicktime. That's all.
Last month I formated and reinstalled Windows. Before formatting I had no problem with these files. I didn't change anything in the hardware. So there must be something missing/corrupt in some codecs used by Quicktime or the way Quicktime renders these codecs.
I searched but couldn't get any result for a link to download a Windows version of ApplePNG codec...
Is there anyone who has an idea because I'm really getting stuck..
