Keynote '09 issue

presentations in Keynote'09 are not able to be opened by earlier versions..why?

Because it is a later version that contains capabilities not present in the earlier ones. You can, however, specify you want to save a presentation in '08 format (in the Save As... dialogue, check the "Save copy as" box, and then use the dropdown to specify iWork '08 format).

  • Keynote hyperlink issue

Having issues when using hyperlink function to link to another keynote file.  When hyperlink is clicked,  the linked file shows up for less than a second, then black screen is seen for approx 6 seconds.  After that both files are open on the screen and keynote is no longer in play mode.  Have never had this issue prior to updating to OSX.Kind of a bummer when giving a long presentation having to go mess with keynote 30 times instead of just clicking on the hyperllink....

    Hi,
I've the same problem since 5.1 keynote. I needed to downgrade iWork to get back the full functionality.
Apple, is there any bugfix? We wait for it!

  • Keynote space issues

Space taken up by Keynote is not reduced when I delete a presentation. Now 914 Mb. How can I reduce this?

    I HAVE THE ANSWER!!!
This was bugging me seeing as how I posted how to fix it and figured it out later.
Build your project in Keynote. Once you finish, before exporting to QT, go into all of your slides with movies/clips, etc and reset all of the delays to ZERO!
That was my problem in that all the slides with video or audio had this long delay. I looked closer and realized the delay after playing the associated video on the slide was the same as the delay I had created in Keynote. When exporting to QT, just remove the delays as I mentioned earlier and when you play it in QT, it will go from one slide to the next, play the associated video and then move to the next slide.
Kind of a bizarre bug, but it works!! the downside being that you can't preview in Keynote if you have the delays to zero, it will just go right on through without playing the associated video clip. Obviously there needs to be a program written that when exporting to QT, Keynote will reset all delays to zero -- but blind to the user.
Hope this helps for you!! I am going to post this to the other person that has this issue as well.

  • Keynotes - compatability issues?

Hi, I hope someone can help or advice.
I am looking into possibly purchasing iWorks so that I can use Keynotes. At the moment, I use a Windows PC at work and a Mac at home. My concerns are compatability issues, so if any someone/s can answer the following questions I would be greatly appreciative:
If I produce a Keynotes presentation on my Mac, can I auto-run as a presentation on a Windows computer easily? (i.e. just run it, not edit it....etc).
Also can I link files to the presentation that can then be clicked within the slide to open in a seperate window i.e. a pdf document, and if so does this close or reduce the presentation itself?
Also I read online that Keynotes can make quite a good interactive shows that 5hit on Powerpoint as far as visuals, i.e. I need to produce an interactive CD,that will autorun on any pc/mac without issue and run a show that lists documents in pdf format that the viewer can click to view without the presentation disappearing, i.e. presenation still remains an active window behind, can this be done in keynotes, or does anyone know of any other mac or windows application that does this kind of thing?
Not sure if the above makes sense, sorry but it's difficult to explain.
Hope someone can help me, I am real keen to get Keynotes, but if it has issues with transferrring onto PC, then there is no point!

    Bill,
Thanks for the help, it is greatly appreciated.

  • Keynote Exporting Issues

To start... I have searched and found some answers to these questions that don't seem to work well.
I have created a Keynote Presentation with 4 slides, two with animated backgrounds, one sound effect on each one, animated Move-In, Out, & Actions, a background track, and a voice over.  I'm having a few problems with all of that when I export.
    1. The animated backgrounds stop moving during the "Preview" in KN and on the export, but in different places.  I have selected "Loop" and it won't.  The desired effect is to have it keep looping through the Slide Transition.
    2. I want the background track AND voice over.  When I try to adjust the volume of either for balance, the exported version (regardless of misaligned transitions) has both audio's at full volume.  This feels like something I should be able to lock into place before the export.
    3. Timing of animations and slide transitions is very different in the exported version.  I've seen discussions on here to put the "Delay" to "0.0", but won't that effect my desired effect on the animations?  or, is this something you do after "Recording" the voice over and it somehow remembers the delays?  I'm a bit confused on this one.
I have always had the feeling of, when I say to myself, "there should be an easier way to do this," when it comes to apple stuff, there usually is.  Thanks for any help you can give.

You might find the whole process a lot easier if you combine the background and voice over on one audio track.
If you don't have an audio editor, the freeware Audacity will do it all for you...

  • Keynote compatibility issues between iOS and OSX versions

Please help! I have been using iOS version of Keynote for creating and presenting on my iPad for the last 12 months and it has worked really well. I recently purchased a Mac and installed Keynote and opened some of my recent presentations on it using iCloud. I was able to use the better functionality on the OSX version then save it and open on the iPad to present. Yesterday, however I opened my main presentation on the iPad and I got a screen saying "this presentation may look different on your iOS device than on your Mac. To preserve the original, tap open copy". I opened the copy version and the entire presentation was greyed out with all the images gone. I opened it on the Mac and it was also greyed out so I am unable to open it on any device now. The original is still there (thank God!) but I cannot find a way to open it at all. Thanking you in advance for any assistance!

    Hi Siamless,
Tom Gewecke is correct, "...It's not available on your Mac except via downloading with a browser...".
If you have an iCloud account log into your iCloud account choose iWork icon on the far right.
On your computer choose which files to upload. Choose which file type you want to upload then choose the appropriate tab, Keynote, Numbers, Pages. Upload your files to the appropriate tab.
There is a gear in the upper right click it choose Upload Document.
From iCloud you will not be able to work on the file, however if you have the iOS device with Keynote, Numbers, Pages, installed you will be able to work on them with your iOS device.
If you are running Lion then changes made to that file from your computer, or iOS device will be synced to iCloud, your iOS device, and your computer. That keeps your iWork documents synced.
    Hope that helps you.
    Cordially,
    RicD

  • Keynote 13' Issues

A couple months before iWork 13' was released I bought Pages and Numbers 09'. A couple days ago I had decided that I wanted Keynote, so I bought it. Already having Pages and Numbers 09', and Pages and Number 13' ( I like 09' better than 13', so I decided to go into applications-iWork 09'-then I added them back to my main bar) I figured that apple would include Keynote 09' when I downloaded 13'. Overall I have Pages & Number 09' and 13' , and Keynote 13'. Is there anyway that I can downgrade Keynote 13' down to 09'. I'm worried that since I waited till Keynote 13' was released that I wont be able to go back to 09'.

iWork 09 is not deleted when installing the new iWork 13 applications.
iWork 09 applications will be found in the applications folder in the folder marked iWork 09.

  • Keynote upgrade issue

    Hi,
I would like to upgrade my Keynote version 5.1 to 5.3 but Appstore says "already installed" and upgrades says "nothing to be upgraded"...
    Any idea ?!
    Thanks!Keynote upgarde

Do you have more than one version of Keynote installed on your computer??
To check, click finder in the dock, and select applications - look through the applications.  What you are looking for is a stand alone version of Keynote, and perhaps a second copy of it, inside a blue folder entitled iWork.

  • Can i do a presentation with Keynote for IOS on my flatscreen in FullHD?

    Hi,
would like to make a presentation with an ipad retina on my fullHD-TV over appleTV. I know that ipad2 maximum resolution is 1024*768 and it can not send a higher resoltution to appleTV. But ipad retina can show 2.048x1.536 wich is more than fullHD 1920x1080. AppleTV also supports 1080p-resolution. So here is the qustion:
Can i create a keynote-presentation with 1920x1080 on an ipad retina  and send it to an appleTV ?

I can confirm that iPad 4 does not solve this problem, at least not using the Lightning AV adapter with HDMI.
I'm using both the iPad 2 and the iPad 4 as a test, outputting a 1920x1080 Keynote presentation to two different plasma monitors.  Both seem to be displaying at 1024x768 or at least not full-screen.
Both, however, will play back video shot in the iPads at 1920x1080 full screen.
This is, I believe, a Keynote app issue.

  • Only the Keynote-created pieces are missing audio post-burn

Everything previews perfectly but after burning, the two main components of the DVD lack audio. They are both large 15 minute self-playing presentations with an audio track (all integrated in Keynote 2, then exported as full-quality QuickTime movies). For the record, the opening menu and the credits iMovie I snuck on (as its own folder) both play great and with their appropriate audio.
Is this a Keynote 2 issue? I know that Keynote creates 2 files in export (one audio, one video, both in the .mov format) but iDVD sees them both and lists them both in the Project Info window as linked files . . . so why don't they show up on the burned DVD? (Again, they play just fine in Preview mode.)
I've played it on computers and multiple DVD players, re-exported from Keynote, gotten rid of button transitions, burned from Disk Image as well as from iDVD, and even started the project again from scratch. None of that led to any success, unfortunately. The Apple Store Genius sent me to these discussions. I've read for a month now up but can't find anything yet to solve this issue. (Because the Keynote presentations are greater than 9.5 minutes, iMovie isn't able to work with them. How can I split them into manageable pieces and then reconnect them seamlessly? Are there other -- more direct -- solutions?)
Thanks in advance, all you wise folks!

UPDATE: Apple is aware of this problem and (mostly) addresses it here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300963
(Though, for the record, iDVD gives the impression that the soundtrack.mov file IS actually imported because it previews fine AND shows up in the list of associated files.)
The trick for me is that my Keynote presentations are big so I'll have to cut, synch, and probably add chapter markers in iMovie to get them back together smoothly in iDVD. Can anybody who's done that offer some pointers? I'm an old hand with Keynote, but this is my first iDVD project and sometimes iMovie makes me cranky. Again, thanks in advance for any help you can give.

  • Export to PPT (Simple Pres)?

    Hi all,
I have had a quick look/search and it seems Keynote has issues exporting to PPT. What about if you know the constraints? If you do not use animation and transitions etc. Just nicely designed still slides, will that go over to PPT ok? I would just test but am not at a Mac with iWork 09 right now and am trying to plan my weekend!
I would like to use Keynote 09 this weekend to make a presentation for next week but won’t even bother trying if you really can't export to PPT...
Thanks for any info or a post with the do's & don’ts,
    Cheers,
    Jake

Exporting to PPT does work but does not always translate the way you think it would. I made a presentation in Keynote and exported it to PPT with bad results. The style I chose had Palitino fonts is all caps. When the conversion took place, some line had the first character of the first word capitalized the rest lower case. Don't use embeded movies or trasitions. A lot of corrections are needed after exporting to PPT. It's not worth the double effort.
Although Keynote is a superior product, MS has not taken the challenge on to improve their product to accept the export. Be carfull testing on the MAC version of PPT without testing on a PC running PPT. The PPT versions are different running on a MAC and PC. MS has a more advanced version running on a MAC. Even testing on a virtual version of XP on a MAC does not substitute runing the test presentation on a PC. Because the virtual version uses a layered PC simulation certain delays may exist and cause the presentation to run like on the MAC. Don't trust the test. Again test the final on a PC before ending up with a presentation that does not perform like you intended it to.

  • I am having major issues with links in keynote! Even though the links (a navigation system) are on the master page, they are only working on some of my slides. Anyone have ideas on how to fix this or similar issues? Help!

I am having major issues with links in keynote! Even though the links (a navigation system) are on the master page, they are only working on some of my slides. Anyone have ideas on how to fix this or similar issues? Help!
I have created a navigation system on the master pages and set the presentation to links only mode. I also have other links scattered throughout the program, like a linkable table of contents, etc. Some of them work, some of them don't. Not sure why. Anyone out there having similar issues? Or have any idea on how I can solve this issue? Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks!

Links should not create any problems in Keynote.  If they are set up correctly on text, the text will be underlined. Objects that have links will have a curved arrow bottom right, if you click the arrow a popup will display the link information.
Try this repair for Keynote,  ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:

delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote, using Appcleaner from Mac Update, its a freeware application

empty the trash:  Finder > Empty Trash

Shut down your Mac, wait 30 seconds, then power on the Mac, immediately after the start chime, hold down the Shift key
When you see the grey Apple symbol and progress indicator (a spinning gear), release the Shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, then hold down the Shift key again as you click Log in.

Let the Mac fully boot up, it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive

when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive then First Aid tab and click  repair disc permissions

when complete, restart the Mac normally, Apple menu > Restart

install Keynote from the Mac App Store
let us know if this helped

  • Keynote and Gotomeeting issue

When I do a live online gotomeeting and use Keynote as my presentation app, the other parties just see a blank screen. Other presentation apps (PPT, OpenOffice) work fine. Any ideas? Thanks.

Fonts, builds, themes and transitions  created in Keynote that do not have a counterpart in PowerPoint will cause issues. Look at the 4 slides causing problems and change the contents accordingly.

  • Font issues when importing work docs in Pages/Keynote...

    Hi!!!
Just got an iPad and am trying to use it for work. The problem is, almost every time I import/open a document, presentation and in some cases even PDF files I get a message on missing fonts.
This is specially hard on presentations, where the corporate template is almost illegible after Keynote plays "change the font"... Of course, trying to contribute back to a document is almost unthinkable (I have to revert to commenting via email)... And the "sweet spot" I was hoping for, being able to go to meetings without my laptop, to do presentations, is not possible as the corporate presentations are a big mess...
From what I have been able to see, there is no way to add fonts to the iPad currently (other than jailbreak, which I'd like to avoid)...
Are there any plans to allow for some way to solve the issues? How are people coping with this problem?
    Thanks
      Javier

There is no way for users to add fonts to any iOS device.  You need to use the fonts which they have installed or use a laptop or other full computer where you can modify things the way you want.
A list of iOS fonts is at
    http://www.michaelcritz.com/2010/04/02/fonts-for-ipad-iphone/
Nobody can tell you what Apple's plans are, but you can tell them what you want here:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html
The next version of iOS, 5, will be released in the fall, but I don't think it includes any ability for users to add fonts.
Safari does have the capability to display fonts embedded in webpages, but I doubt that will meet you needs.

  • Keynote 6.0.1 pdf export issues

When I "export to PDF", it seems that any style change (font family, weight, style etc) within a paragraph in a text box causes all the text after the style change to disappear in the pdf export.
    Example:
    [begin text box]
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit.
Sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua.
    [end text box]
In the export, it would say:
    [begin text box]
    Lorem ipsum
    Sed do eiusmod tempor
    [end text box]
Any idea why this is happening and how to fix it?

I have the exactly the same issue on a brand new MacBook Pro running 10.9.1 (2.6 GHz / i5) and Keynote 6.0.1 (1486). It's beyond irritating.
Have you found a work around?
