Keynote 09 Theme Chooser

Hi! This just happened after I installed the current update of iWork 09 two days ago. Seems that I cannot select theme "Gradient" (which is my favorite and often used). The first slide came up plain with a big "X" across the entire slide. There was a document error warning citing that "One or more colors could not be properly read, and may not display correctly on some systems." Anyone has a solution? Seems this happens only for "Gradient" and not for others. Thanks!

yup - the iWork 09 folder is in Applications. I may have to re-install from discs and update. However, I still think something went amiss during update because prior to that I was using the affected theme for dozens of presentations. I also tried re-installing the update too - same result.

  • No thumbnails in Theme Chooser for my created themes?

I just upgraded to a new MBPro with Snow Leopard. I moved my Keynote themes from the old PowerBook (running Tiger) to the new laptop, and they all seem to work... except that in the Theme Chooser, where I had been seeing thumbnail previews of my user-created themes, only their names appear. Original Keynote themes and third-party commercial themes appear normally.
It's not a HUGE deal, since I can still select my themes by name, but I'd like to understand the cause if I can, and perhaps do something about it...
    Any ideas?
    Charlie

Yes, I tried all of that. I had to delete everything but my Aperture libraries and re-install to get it to work. I think it was something wrong with something in the Application Support folder for Aperture. Whatever it was it works now. The first time I re-installed I left the Application Support folder for Aperture alone it still had the problem. There are some .plist files there and undoubtedly something was amiss.

  • How do I import and use the Keynote themes that I've downloaded?

I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I searched this forum & didn't immediately find the answer I needed. I've downloaded some Keynote themes (they have a .kth extension). How do I import these into Keynote 08 so that Keynote will recognize and use the themes?
    Thanks!

Put the .kth in "Themes" folder under the route Home > Library > Application Support > iWork > Keynote > Themes - it will then appear (at the bottom) in the theme chooser when opening keynote.

  • Where is the color palette for the chosen Keynote theme?

Each Keynote theme has its own look and its own colors, right? And if you create a bar chart, all the colors of the different bars will nicely match the chosen theme.
So, shouldn't these few theme-compatible colors be listed somewhere in the color chooser? If I want to draw something using a few objects (or if I want to highlight some text using color), I want to choose from exactly those few theme-compatible colors.
Is that possible? I'm really confused as to why such a list of colors is not readily available as a palette in the color chooser?! Or is it, somewhere? I don't want to choose some ugly color that doesn't match the theme!
    Thanks!

  • Lost "Open Recent" in Theme Chooser After Update

Hi! I finally updated my OS to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard and to Keynote v.5.3, as well. Did two computers: an early-2008 MBP and a late-2010 MBA. The MBA's Keynote app doesn't fire up the Theme Chooser on start-up, and when I select New Document, the Theme Chooser that does pop up has does not have the Open Recent and Existing Files options.
    The MBP I upgraded does.
How can I set my MBA to show Theme Chooser on start-up and show Recents and Existing Files? I've looked through all my Preferences options and can't find an obvious selection.
    Thank you.

  • Cannont find themes in Theme Chooser

I recently (re)installed some themes I purchased from Keynote Pro... then I tried to clear up my 'libraries' as I noted that I had iWork; iWork '08 and iWork '09 as well as Keynote. Since I am using iWork 09, I moved the folders from inside the Keynote libraries into iWork '09 and removed the rest...
NOW , I cannot find the Keynote Pro themes that I had installed although the original Apple supplied themes are all there.
Can anyone advise what I should do in order to be able to see all the extra themes in the panel of Theme chooser??
    Thanks James

    See if this works...
Go to Home > Library > Application Support > iWork > Keynote > Themes
If there is not a Themes Folder or Keynote folder in iWork at that level (Home > Library > Application Support > iWork) , then create a Keynote folder in the iWork folder and then a Themes folder within that Keynote folder. Then, move your themes in there.
Start iWork....You should see your imported themes below the Apple ones...
iWork themes that come with Keynote are part of Keynote's package (cntl click on Keynote, show contents, etc...If you don't know what you are doing, don't mess with that part).

  • Custom theme does not show up in theme chooser

    Hi all,
I'm just trying to create a custom theme based on a presentation template I created. When I do this on my private iMac 2009 with Keynote 5.1.1 this works without any troubles and the theme shows up when selecting "New from Theme".
If I do this on my brandnew MBP (very late 2011) it won't show the theme in the theme chooser.
I looked it up, the theme file is located in the right folder.
Another strange thing that happened to me is that if I save the presentation as a theme on the desktop and open the file from there, Keynote opens a new file but with 800x600 pixels instead if the original 1920x1080 pixels and completely messes up the dimensions etc.
    I did reboot, nothing changed.
    Any ideas?
P.S.: I transferred my complete Mac from a 2009 MBP with all content and apps.

brandnew MBP (very late 2011) it won't show the theme in the theme chooser.

This is happening to me too. So, what can we do about this? I am trying to make a custom theme for a high profile business client and this stuation is making me look bad.

  • Theme Chooser Not Updating

Has anyone noticed that if you change the title of a theme (your own, not Apple's), that sometimes it doesn't update the title in the Theme chooser. In my ca, I updated the copyright dates within my theme, and then changed the title to 2011 from 2010. But Theme Chooser in Keynote keeps the old title, even tho it has the new 2011 copyrights in the file, should you choose the old titled file. I can restart and still no change. And the themes is in the correct place ~/Library/Application Support/iWork/Keynote/Theme.
Is there any cache that can be cleared to force on update.
And this happens on both my laptop and desktop (with 10.6.7)

You need to reinstall the app.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • Names on Keynote themes

When you open the theme chooser in Keynote the themes there all have their names listed below them and on the sample slide. I have made a couple of custom slides, but when they show up in the chooser the name only appears below them. Is there a way to have the name of a custom theme show up on the sample slide?

If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application uninstaller. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • Is it possible to embed fonts in Keynote theme?

I've created custom theme for Keynote'08 and everything works fine.
    My theme uses corporate fonts.
At the moment the theme is distributed with additional font pack and the user have to install both, but I'd like to simplify the theme installation process.
Is it possible to embed fonts in Keynote theme?

Got it, and it make sense...
I was thinking about something like adding fonts to theme-files folder,
but well, I can live without this "feature".
    Thx Your for the answer.

  • How does one add a chart to a Keynote theme

I have been studying how to create Keynote themes. I have been able to learn how to do a lot but I have not been able to figure out how to add a chart to a master slide.
I am not sure if this is possible.
I have found a chart in a deck I have and would like to add it to a slide master. I see some of the commercial themes have charts as part of the theme master slide set.
I cannot figure out how to add this chart as an "object" on a master so I do not have to go through the steps each time I want to use the formating attributes.
Related: on the Inspector Menu for Master Slides there is a check box for Object Placeholder. What is that for?
    Rob

Maybe it needs to be in Applications?

  • Did anyone notice the problem with theme chooser??

    Hello all!
Just wondering if anyone else has noticed a problem -- I have purchased a bunch of extra themes and now when you click on the theme chooser, it brings up a great little window with ALL of your available themes. However, there are no scroll arrows if you have too many themes!! As such, there are "missing" themes in the chooser, but if you scroll the mouse to the top of the screen, it will change it (although you can't see the one you pick!!). So, they ARE there, but the window for picking them is screwed up.
    Any help with this? Apple??
    Thanks in advance!!
    --Jason

Yeah, and I've been told Apple knows about it.I think the cutoff point is about 60 themes total, then it breaks.
You can still use the actual theme chooser (what you're talking about is the themes menu, not the chooser) to change a theme by using the Choose Theme function from the Edit menu (not the New or New from theme)

  • How do I get my iWork'09 3rd party Keynote themes into Keynote 6.0?

    1.  I had iWork '09 installed on my computer from the old installation disk.  It was not clear at the keynote that I would receive the updates for free as I already owned them.  I was expecting to see the updates when I opened up the App Store, but they were not there which gave the impression that I was SOL since I didn't purchase them through the App Store.  I even received the message "[App name] is already installed, purchase anyway?", but that message is cryptic and not clear that I was going to receive the update, so I wound up purchasing the iWork apps again, just to wake up this morning to find out that I should have received them for free.  I am truly hoping for a refund, because at $20 each, that's a big difference between that and free.
    2.  I opened up keynote to play with the new features, but because the internal architecture is different, it no long references my old themes folder in Library > Application Support > iWork > Keynote.  I have tried copying the files to other permutations of possible reference folders in the global and user libraries, but have had no success.  These 3rd party themes were not cheap either.  I'm sure there is a way to get them to show up in the Keynote Theme Selector, but I haven't stumbled on it yet.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for the link to the troubleshooting tips!  It contained the correct answer which is:
"If your documents or changes still don’t appear, try creating a new document on your iOS device, and then check again for existing documents from iCloud to appear".
I created a test document in Pages and when I returned to my documents all the documents from iCloud reappeared.

  • Duplicate Themes in theme chooser

I just installed Keynote 3.0 on my PB last night and noticed that when I open a new presentation, all the themes I have purchased from Jumsoft are displayed twice. Can someone help make this go away? Does Keynote 3.0 put themes in a different place/look in a different place for other themes besides those that come with the app? I do have Keynote 2 intalled as well. Thanks.

    15 Al PB 1.5 Ghz G4, Snow iMac 500 Mhz G3,   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    I've got the same problem.
I've noticed that all those themes are in both my system-level library folder (/Library/Application Support/iWork/Keynote/Themes) and my account library folder (~/Library/Application Support/iWork/Keynote/Themes). There is also an iWork '06 folder in the system-level application support library, but it doesn't have annything in it but the iWork 06 Tour.
I'm guessing I can delete one set of these files, but I'm not certain which one. Does anyone have any advice?

  • Theme Chooser Not Working - No Themes?

    Hi there,
I'm using iPhoto 11 - trying to make a photo book - and my theme chooser doesn't seem to be working. I don't get to choose any themes - they all look the same, see the screen shot below:
Can't choose any colours or background options either. Its like the software didn't properly install or something. Likewise when I ctrl-click on an event, I don't get the option to make a book, I only get this:
Can someone tell me what is going on?? Thanks!!
