Keynote 2013 presentation mode

Does anyone know if the new Keynote announced today for Mac supports display of the cursor/pointer when in presenter mode? Previous versions did not allow this. Powerpoint does this. Without this actually presenting a Keynote is very challenging, especially for an academic who has to look at notes during presentation!

Yes I was. I do this all the time in Keynote '09 and I just tested it in keynote 6 (2013).
By the way, there are all kinds of other shortcuts you can use when presenting in Keynote. If you hit the "?" key, it will bring up a list (this works in Keynote '09 and '13.)

Sorry, I need to check were talking about the same thing, my use of the term 'presenter mode' was a bit vague.
Can you confirm the circumstanses when the video runs correctly?
click on the play button in the tool bar
if you double click the video in the canvas window
select "use alternate display to view presenter information" in Keynote preferences and you press play button in the tool bar
deselect "use alternate display to view presenter information" in Keynote preferences and you press play button in the tool bar

Keynote on iPad to won't go into presenter mode

I have an iPad 2 (latest iOS 6) and an Apple 30pin VGA adapter that connects to an external projecter that I have very sucessfuly used in the past to present slides with presenter notes. I updated the Keynote app to 1.7.2 (latest version) last week.
This morning, using equipment that I have always used I could not for the life of me get Keynote into presenter display, all it would do is mirror, which is useless to me. I need my notes.
Does anyone have any idea why this is occuring? From what I understand, even if I only connect my adapter when play is tapped, the slide show should automattically go into display mode. Please help, this is driving me nuts.

this is a software glitch, i suggest holding the home button and power button together untill you see the apple then let go, do not slide to power off, if all else fails you might have to restore the device to factory settings, still doesnt do that then its a hardware issue, and its probably going to be 250$ or more to replace

How to exit presentation mode for keynote ipad

I am having trouble with keynote for the ipad. I can not get the presentation to stop playing and return to the keynote app. I have tried everything from exiting out of the app to restarting the ipad.

Touch the left side of the iPad to bring up the slides then select the last slide. Go back to presentation mode and swipe right like going to the next slide and it will exit presentation mode.

Upgraded to the latest Keynote (5.3 1170) and now videos won't play in presentation mode, only audio

Upgraded Keynote on my home and work computers to the latest version in the AppStore and now videos won't play in presentation mode. In edit mode you can double click and it will play in the editor. This happens on both computers running the latest version of ML (10.8.4).
Any help here? Alread tried a reinstall of ML on one machine with no luck.
Was previously running Keynote 08 (non AppStore version). Tried creating brand new presentations in 09, no luck.

I had the same problem today in front of an audience with 300 people (MacbookPro OSX 10.10, Thunderbolt-VGA adapter, PPT 14.4.6).
Here what I figured out so far:
1. It happens when you have PPT open and connect to beamer afterwards
2. You can resolve it (in my case) by quitting PPT and launching it WHEN connected to beamer
3. Yet, make sure Mac does not go into sleep mode or you get a lock-screen in the waiting time. if you do so, you get back to square 1. quit PPT again 2. restart it.
4. Also.... in one case I had to hit the volume control once to get the sound back even though movie was playing
So in short: Connect to beamer first, then launch PPT
I know it is only a symptom fix but it worked for me

When mirroring keynote with my iPod air 2 the presentation will not show on display in presentation mode

When I mirror a presentation on my iPad air 2 to a TV the content will not show in presentation mode. It will show in edit mode.

Same problem here - 80 gb classic and same thing happened to me this week - plays fine alone - when hooked to computer says it needs to be reformatted and then when i try to reformat i get error 1415 can't reformat - this is bs and im not shelling out for another ipod - why would it work fine but when connecting it to windows suddenly not work> I think Itunes 10 has got some issues

I gotta say that while I appreciate Keynote's ability to handle large file sizes and embed media, I baulk at a single file of 4GB.
Having discovered my file has blown out to that size, I would likely choose a spot to split the file and do my best to seamlessly move from one stack to the next. We will have to wait for the engineering team to return hyperlinking between stacks which was removed in Keynote 6, so as to make the transition between stacks much easier and semi-automatic.
My fear with a file size this big is a crash, and then waiting for it to load in when Keynote restarts. I'm guessing you're doing lots of "can I break this file" testing before unleashing it on your audience.
I always wondered when Apple did its 500 slide keynotes at Macworld or WWDC if it swapped stacks during the live demos. No doubt there are multiple redundancies built into their "just has to work" presentations, but still, we've seen these things fall over when Steve J. was doing the keynotes. Remember when he told the story of Woz controlling TV sets with a remote, while Jobs waited for his presentation to be restored? Was it 2008?

Blue and red are reversed on external monitor in ppt presentation mode only

Hi all,
I have a mid-2012 macbook pro and I'm running OS X 10.9.5 Sorry but the problem's a bit complicated so the description is a bit long.
After I upgraded to maverick I started having a problem at work. I am a university professor who uses my laptop to project ppt lectures onto an external monitor. I have never had a problem with it. I am not sure that the problem is related to maverick but it was around that time that it began to occur.
The problem is when I project my display onto the screen before I switch into the presentation mode all the colors on the external monitor are fine, when I switch to the presentation mode on ppt (14.4.5) reds are blues and blues are reds (for most but not all, weird enough) on the external monitor, and blue strawberries are really unappealing. It is not limited to one projector on campus, I've bothered our IT guys to death about it and they've checked the monitors (not the monitors) and they worked trying to fix my problem but they are flummoxed, I've called microsoft about it and stumped them (they refunded my service fee because they couldn't solve the problem). My IT guys did find one work around where I changed the settings for displays in ppt from presenter view to mirror show and that worked but it created other problems in that I couldn't advance my slides easily (for each and every slide advance, I had to "pretend" to "end show" after I'd advanced and then it would advance...) so that's not a viable option either. I opened the ppt presentation in keynote and still get the same color reversal happening. This leads me to think that it may be a maverick problem? But I don't know. Now my semester is gearing up and I'd love for the lovely Apple community experts to chime in and give ideas on how to solve this conundrum! I'd be so very grateful!

Either an update to 10.7.4 or a restart with the computer closed the entire time seems to have solved the problem. Not sure which.

Sorry - should have been more specific. As far as I can see, Keynote will only allow me to see the current slide and the next slide on my laptop when I am presenting a slideshow through a projector. But an old version of PowerPoint allowed me to show the current slide....and (adjustable) many more slides ahead (say 10)....so I could simply jump ahead to a 'future' slide and skip several slides in between. Net result being that I was able to matcgh my slides to group discussions rather than stick to a fixed, predetermined slide show.
As much as it pains me, without this facility - PowerPoint (old verson, not current one) is more useful for me! :-((

Hyperlink not working in presentation mode when using alternate display

Made hyperlinks to jump from slide x to slide y
That worked fine when testing in presentation mode
When the same file is played using a beamer as alternate display the hyperlinks are not recognised: clicking will start the next build of the presentation

Is there anybody who successfully used a hyperlink to jump from slide A to slide Y? (and when using the beamer as an alternate display, using the macbook pro screen for the presentation notes)
If so, I can try to find out what I do wrong, otherwise it might be a bug in Keynote'08

Hyperlink unreliability in presenter mode

Because of the limitations of Keynote 3 (music can only be attached to a single slide or an entire document, not a series of slides in the middle of a document), I've been forced to format my presentations on the history of American musical theatre as a string of documents connected by hyperlinks, with all the documents opened in advance to make the transitions seamless.
These hyperlinks are not 100% reliable – instead of connecting to the next document, they will sometimes exit the show. It seems to be better if the slide with the hyperlink has been on the screen more than briefly and if I press the mouse button FIRMLY. That's in primary display mode – in alternate (presenter) display mode, the hyperlinks almost never work.
I've reluctantly taken to doing my presentations in primary mode with a hard copy of my notes by my side instead of on the screen – but I wish I could use the presenter mode instead. Does anyone have a clue how to solve my problem?

The problem you're experiencing has to do with the way in
which Presenter content references local vs. absolute links.
This was (and actually, it still IS) a persistent problem
that many, many folks have inquired about.
I'm fairly certain that regardless of which version of
Presenter you have installed (6 or 7), when you use hyperlinks that
call relative addresses (e.g. /contact/index.htm), by the time you
publish that content, Presenter will
always default to the data/resources directory of your
presentation. This wasn't so much of an issue with Presenter's
predecessor Breeze, but it doesn't help much with Presenter 6 or 7.
One thing that we have managed to work out is a hack; meaning
that within the resources directory of a published presentation, we
added an index.htm file that contains a script that forces a
redirect to a landing page elsewhere on a server. This way, as soon
as a button is clicked, the redirect page shows up...and on that
redirect page, a message is displayed informing the viewer that
they're about to be taken to a totally different location. It's by
no means a clean solution...but without using absolute "
http://" protocols, there wasn't much of a
choice.
The other downside to this approach is that anytime you
change where folks are being redirected to, you're forced to edit
the htm page within the resources directory of your published
content.

Position Slider for Videos in Presenter Mode

Running Keynote on Yosemite when I open play a slideshow and have a video playing on a particular slide, a position slider will appear if I mouse over the video. However, when I am using a second display in presenter mode and I do the exact same thing to try and trigger the position slide on a video, nothing appears. I am able to see the mouse moving around, but I can't get the slider to come up. Is this an oversight or do I need to modify the settings to allow this to happen?

They should probably get that fixed. Presentation software should facilitate the presentation not generate additional obstacles to effective communication.

Quicktime files won't play in presenter mode

first it was working great but after installing Flip4Mac the presentation in presenter mode will ony play sound on slides who have quicktime movies in them. Also graphics and text on these slide are not shown. I removed flip4mac and re-installed Keynote but this has no effect. Does anybodu know how I can fix this error?

Presenter mode failure?

While in presenter mode (and with the slideshow on the 2nd screen) how do I go to safari, notes, calendar, etc on my Mac... while maintaing the presentation on the 2nd screen? In Powerpoint for Windows I just minimize the presenter view, but I do not see that option on Keynote and also on Powerpoint for Mac. Thanks

This cant be done on the Mac, when Keynote is in play mode, it uses both video outputs for Keynote.

Videos will not play in presentation mode. They play fine when I preview them in Keynote but once I am presenting it trys to play and then skips the slide.
