Keynote 3 - Slides looks corrupted

Hello,
I am testing Keynote 3. With some presentations made with previous versions of Keynote, I have the following problem: in a bulleted list, the first line is fine but then the rest of the text is verticalized at the right edge of the text box. The text looks fine in the miniature (in the left column). Same problem in Slide show mode.
This happens with old slides, among the first I made with Keynote (v 1).

It's a bug.
Read this page and you should be able to fix it:
http://www.keynotepro.com/support/iWork_Update-06.html
Basically, it's bitten everyone who wants to open K1 files in K3, without having K2 in the mix.

  • MOV exported from Keynote - last slide disappears, audio continues playing

I have a series of three mov files that were created in & exported from Keynote. They are audio & slide shows that are to autoplay on a website. Two of the files function as expected once embedded in the website, one does not; the last slide drops out (displaying a white screen) while the audio continues for approximately 30 seconds until the mov file ends. To add confusion to the issue ALL the files play as expected using Safari (on Win & Mac). Using Firefox on Mac delivers the "broken" results. Using ANY browser on Windows yields the broken result.
Any suggestions from anyone as to what could be causing this? A link to the website I'm talking about is below. The problem file is on index2.html

    Hi,
Since I am trying to do a number of things with Keynote, I read these discussions looking for opportunities and pitfalls.
I read your message, and saw your outcome as an issue. Since I've yet to add the soundtrack to my current project, I needed to know more about the outcome before I proceeded, in order to adjust accordingly.
I took my project, and added a song as the soundtrack. I played the slideshow, and the soundtrack played along, across the slides as it should. I then began to record the slideshow, but the soundtrack came playing through the speakers and was being picked up by the microphones, so I offed the speakers, donned my headphones, and re-began the recording. The soundtrack was playing (in the headphones), and I was narrating across many slides.
I played the recorded slideshow, and all was present - soundtrack and recorded narration.
I exported to Quicktime, sending the output to a new folder so that it could easily be found, along with anything else that might be generated. Upon completion, there was only one movie file in the folder. I opened and played it in Quicktime. It was perfect - slides looked good, narration was there, and the soundtrack was playing in the background.
This outcome appears to be your objective, so I'm not sure what I did differently than you, but from this experience, it works as should be expected.
    Good luck.

  • Slides look like a photo negative...help!

The color in the thumbnail slides looks fine. Put the colors in the main slides are way off. Changing color displays doesn't seem to help. Any suggestions?

Most likely, you're using images that are in CMYK colorspace. You need to convert them to RGB before preview or keynote will display them without issue. Most likely candidate to do this is photoshop.

  • Making only some slides look like school paper?

I'm using a blue gradient background and on a few slides I would like to change the background to something that looks like paper.
    1. How can I change the background for selected slides?
    2. Is there something that comes with Keynote that could look like line schoolbook paper?
    Thanks.

The easy answer would be to just paste a background on those selected slides.
The slightly more involved way would be to create a master for it. You have to decide if you need every possible combination of elements or just a few, and proceed accordingly
Wouldn't be hard to make that background. Just make a rectangle the color of the paper, draw a light blue line the full width, then copy and paste that till you have enough, align them to the left and distribute them vertically.

  • How can I make my question slide look and act like the rest of the project?

    Hi,
I have created my project without using a template. Each time I needed to create a new screen I simply duplicated the slide and then inserted new text. This worked quite well. However, when I tried to do this for a question slide, it wouldn't let me (obviously).
Is there a way of customising a question slide to look exactly like the rest of my project (and have the interactivity on the slide that the rest of the project has)? When I tried designing a new template and question template side and applying it to the question slide in my project, I could only insert a static image as the background on the template slide. Needless to say, there was no interactivity on the slide, i.e. no active click boxes etc, and I couldn't add these either when I applied it to the slide.
Any help is much appreciated. This is for a Masters project, so I'm still learning the basics.
    Thanks.

    Hi Lilybiri,
I am using Captivate 4. All of my screens so far look like a website - with menus and makeshift spry menus (image maps with click boxes). My preference is to use this layout for the question slides. However, it sounds like this isn't possible. What do other people do to make their question slides look a part of the course?
    Thanks.

  • RAW files look corrupted with color streaking during import

During import in Lightroom about 25% of my files look corrupted (with color streaks, etc.). The RAW images upload perfectly in iPhoto on the same computer but for some reason will become corrupted in Lightroom. I am able to delete the corrupted images in the LR Library and reload them with about a 50% success rate. I've tried different memory cards, cf importers, etc. Only an issue in LR. Sometimes they export with the streaking and other times they export perfectly fine. Even if they export fine it makes it impossible to edit in LR. Below is an example of how the image appears. Any answers?

Raw files have a camera-embedded JPG.
I would guess the files are corrupt, LR is showing you this corruption, while other programs are only interpreting the JPG and hiding the corruption.
Can you upload one of these photos that iPhoto shows as ok, while LR shows corruption?  Upload one to www.dropbox.com <http://www.dropbox.com>  and post a public download link, here.

  • Keynote Master Slide - body levels

Does anyone know how to increase the number of body levels (indents) on the keynote master slides? At present it seems to be limited to Body Level 5 - but I would like to create styles for a greater number of indents.
    Thanks in anticipation...

The limit is 5, but you could set a bunch of tab stops so that all you need to do his hit tab to move over. It should act the same, even though can't see more than 5 on the master slides.

  • When I open a powerpoint presentation with keynote the slides are very small. How do I make them fit a page?

When I open a PP with Keynote the slides are very small. How do I make them fit the page, like they did in PP?

    I had the same problem.
Go to preferences, slideshow, and check the box "Scale slides to fit display."
    Hope this helps!

  • Keynote Import slide transition timers

I was told to post here Re: Keynote Import slide transition timers
Can the transition times for a presentation can be inserted with automator  or can it be imported from a CSV sort of file.
The way I did this in Powerpoint was I created a static array with all slides timer I wanted, later looped through each slide and set the timer. can similar thing can be done in Keynote with applescript
Re: Keynote Import slide transition timers
    I also posted here, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/27495413/applescript-to-set-transition-timers
I got one example but that gives me errors.
    Thanks for your help

Here is the solution for people who care, i figured out a way with some help from stackexchange forum
    tell application "Keynote"
set ss to slides of document 1
set c to count of ss
        set timerlist to {5, 4, 3, 9, 6}
        set n to 1
        repeat until n > c
set timer to item n of timerlist
            set transition properties of item n of ss to {transition delay:timer, automatic transition:true, transition effect:no transition effect, transition duration:0.5}
            set n to n + 1
        end repeat
    end tell

  • Keynote crashes and then corrupts the file

I hoping somebody can help --- this is driving me crazy. When editing an existing document in Keynote 9.3 at some point it crashes and I have to force quit. When I restart my document is corrupted (the graphics thumbnails appear, but the graphisc on the pages are missing and I get an error message for nearly every graphic in the document).
I read where replacing the preferences file might help (~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWork.Keynote.plist) but I'm unable to even locate that preference file to delete it (I followed that path --- it's not there, and it doesn't appear in a system-wide search), but I'm not sure that would do the trick anyway.
I've found other people online with the same problem, but so far no one has ever come back to them with a solution. This is a large slideshow with nearly 300+ slides and embedded video clips (4GB total file size).
If anyone out there has any idea how to fix this, I would be thrilled (and very grateful).
    Many thanks in Advance.

Try this routine, it has been proven to correct many issues with Keynote so its worth a go:
1 - Remove keynote, (use Appcleaner from Mac Update to do this, it is freeware)
2 - Start up in safe mode (press shift key immediately after the start chime)
it will take longer to start up as the OS is being repaired
3 - When the Mac is fully booted, go to:   Applications > Utilities > Disk utility
click the System hard drive in the list > first aid tab > Repair Disc
    4 - Reboot normally
5 - re-install iWork and install updates for Keynote from: Apple Menu > Software update

  • Slide looks good until i print

The slides in my keynote look great when I play them on my computer but on some of them the text and graphics are suddenly jumbled when I upload to print. Why and how do I clean them up when I cant see a problem in the first place?!

It is better to fix your photo before bringing into Pages but you can do a lot in Pages itself:
Menu > View > Show Adjust Image > Slide the brightness to the right
Experiment but there are multiple adjustments to make to correct a photo for print. A subject beyond these forums.

  • IMovie Slide Show corrupted space?

My students are creating iMovie slide shows of their photographs. Some imported them from iPhoto and others imported their photos as clips.
Today, 3 students on 3 different computers had this problem: everything was going along fine, they looked at the slide show and it was fine, then they started the timeline again and one or more photos had vertical lines through the frame- like they were corrupted. We deleted the photo and went back to the original photo. Resaved it, imported it again into iPhoto and then to iMovie. Placed it and same thing. We moved it to another location on the timeline and it wasn't the frame but the spot in the timeline that seems to be the problem. When we placed a picture that was fine elsewhere in that space, it showed the vertical lines-like wide nasty tracking lines.

Once your project is complete, export it by choosing share/share to media browser, choose a size that is big enough but not too big, you don't say where you are from or whether you are working WS or 4:3, but it really wouldn't do any harm except waste a little fo your Hard Disk space to choose Large if you are in doubt.
Close imovie, open iDVD, (if you've not used iDVD take a little tutorial), decide what sort of project you want to make (some are just real easy, others allow you a bit of artistic license), click media, a window will open (the media browser) and you can simply drag the movie you just made to your iDVD project.

  • Media Not Saved Error - Slide Duplication corruption suspected

I've recently upgraded to KN '06 and have run into a nasty. When saving changes to a 60 slide presentation I've started getting "failed to save" messages about picture and movie media associated with the slides. It finally occurred to me what was causing this.
If I duplicate a slide, KN'06 is either losing its connection to the media file on that slide or not actually creating a copy of the media that the duplicate slide expects to find in the package. (Would have researched but was up until 2am waiting for spotlight to come out of la-la land. I could be wrong but I don't think I have 31,845 files with the word "caterpillar" in the filename. I must be wrong because it finally listed them, my entire volume. Hey, it's good concept, just a few bugs is all.)
Need more testing to see if the same results come from "duplicate" and "copy/paste" - I used both techniques and perhaps one works where the other doesn't.
    Unhappy mac-nab

I have the same problem; every time I open a keynote presentation I have to re-insert .mov files, and every time I close the presentation they are gone (that is, the thumb is there but the movie is not, and despite checking "copy audio and movies into the document".
    HELP.

  • Keynote 08 slide copying from one file to another file

    Hello from a MacBook Newbie,
This is my first experience into the Mac world. I use Keynote every day. I also have a lot of PowerPoint files that I have converted to Keynote. I love the drag and drop feature.
My problem is copying slides from one keynote file to another keynote file. The result is text box differences. When using PPT the files always seemed to keep all features intact on copying. Not so in Keynote. Examples are font size changes and text box spacing. The only way to resolve this is for laborious text box revising. I would understand if this were a PPT file converting to Keynote, however, the problem exists for me in copying Keynote slides into another Keynote file.

Not sure if this tip can actually solve your issue but its a handy tip to have. When you press command+V it paste from the clipboard. Now if you press shiftoption+commandV it paste but use the current slide's formatting.

  • How can I put my Divx movie in my keynote presentation slide?

I installed Quicktime codecs. After that I can see divx movie by Quicktime.
    But, here is my question.
When I want to use a part of the Divx movie, I did editing the movie and then I tried to convert the movie. But, it usually take a long time. I want to know how I can put the divx movie in my slide without encoding....
    Thank you..

Converting to MPEG-4 is going to take a long time depending on the duration of the content. How long is the clip you're trying to encode?
If you want to edit out the parts you don't want with QuickTime then encode with something faster, that's an option, too. When you save the edited version, you can save it as a reference movie, then drop that reference movie into iSquint.
    http://www.isquint.org
It's much faster and has a simple interface for higher or lower quality. Try that to see if it's fast enough. If not, there are other options as well (for example, using the reference movie directly in Keynote).
