Keynote 5.2 won't open with Mountain Lion

I've been using all of iWork with Mountain Lion since July 9 when the Developer GM Seed was released, and it worked fine. Now that the public has Mountain Lion, iWork was updated and I get the message "Check with the Developer to make sure Keynote works with this version of OS X."
I know for a fact this must be an error, but since I've had iWork '09 since its release on CD I haven't bought it on the Mac App Store and therefore cannot use that for this problem. (Although the App Store updated Keynote and the rest of iWork)

It's not quite the same thing but in case other people's searches lead them here too, I was having trouble getting Keynote (updated) and TextEdit to open. They would just hang without even getting to the initial screen. I fixed the problem by turning off iCloud for documents
Go to System Preferences > iCloud > uncheck "Documents & Data" from the sync list.
(Actuall I uninstalled Keynote, did the above, restarted and then reinstalled but I think I only needed ot do the above).
Anyway, both Keynote and TextEdit open fine now. Shame I can't use iCloud with them but I'll cope...
Hope that helps someone.

  • My Word, Excel, and powerpoint won't work with mountain lion

My Word, Excel, and powerpoint won't work with mountain lion.
Just upgraded, and my icons are question marks.

Is the upgrade free? That depends, if you have a more recent version of Word, Excel and Powerpoint, then probably yes, but if not, nope, it'll cost you. Try M$ (micro$oft for that). However, might I suggest, humbly, that you try OpenOffice or NeoOffice. I used it to open up a powerpoint presentation and it did fine, plus the price is right

  • I just figured out that my CanoScan won't work with Mountain Lion.  Now what?

I have already upgraded to Mountain Lion.  Then, I noticed that my scanner won't work.  The person at Cannon said that the scanner drivers are not ready so that they will interface with Mountain Lion.  He couldn't tell me how long it would be before Cannon caught up.  Do I have to delete Mountain Lion to scan?

You're looking for solutions, so I'll let you know what you need to do:
    1. If you have sufficient storage, you can make separate partitions for Mountain Lion and Lion.
    2. Invest in a new hard drive, install Lion, and use it to do your scanning. I don't know how to do this, but it is possible.
    3. You can wait for Canon to update their scanner software, but it's hard to tell when (or if) you will get it.
    4. Often, third-party developers come up with scanning and printing software for unsupported devices, but given the recency of ML, there's no certainty when the software will come out - or what it will cost.
    5. Scrap your current scanner, and replace it with a new machine.
I don't know how often you use your scanner, so it's hard to tell which you should do.

  • Tv hooked up through mini dp won't work with Mountain Lion

Using Lion we could hook up a tv through the HDMI connected through a Mini DP connection With Mountain Lion the system won't recognize the external display. Why? Can we fix this?

Try resetting the PRAM - Finder -> Help, then type "PRAM" and it will give you instructions
and if that does not work, try resetting the SMC

  • TS3991 iCal won't synce with Mountain Lion & iPhone 4s

I can't get iCal to sync with Mountain Lion & iPhone 4s via iCloud. Is there a simple way to make this work?

Okay, did some comparing and it appears only ALL DAY events are displaying on the wrong day. Anything I have set with a specific time shows up on the correct day. Found a reference on the Internet that explains this.
Apparently, according to that source, the computer considers a day to START at 12:00 am, so an all day event displays on the computer on the correct day which begins at midnight. But the iPhone considers a day to END at 12:00 am so all day events are posted BEFORE midnight of the correct day, which is the wrong day.
What I don't understand is WHY Apple has the iPhone using different criteria than their computers? This "bug" apparently goes back to the original iPhone iOS. Why haven't they reprogrammed it by now?
I have an appointment with Apple for next week to have someone call me and I will discuss it with them. Hopefully, they'll have an answer for me on how to fix my events to display correctly. If not, I guess I'll have to change all day events to begin and end at specific times. Which means deleting birthdays from the Address Book and creating calendar entries for each one. What a nuisance that will be!
ETA: AND I won't be able to rely on the US Holidays calendar. *sigh*

  • DVD-R won't mount with Mountain Lion

Just upgraded to Mountain Lion on 2009 MacBook Pro and now cant mount a blank DVD-R to archive. Any ideas?

Hi, Im having exactly the same problem with my 2009 iMac and I cant find an actual solution- it's NOT a hardware problem, as it reads both music CDs and movie DVDs, the problem is with blank discs.
My theory is that Apple have disabled the facility, as all the new Macs that ship with mountain Lion don't have an optical drive installed (only the Mac Pro's and they ship with Lion and Mountain Lion is offered as a download) and they are trying to drive consumers onto their Cloud Storage facility.
Maybe this is why it's so difficult to find a solution and why Apple have kept so very quiet with their responses on these forums...
Come on Apple, if you read this please act upon it- do I now have to downgrade back to Lion just to use my Superdrive as it's meant for?!

  • Indesign won't start with Mountain Lion 10.8

Neither CS4 Indesign nor the trial of CS6 Indesign will start on brand new MacBook air 11" with Mountain Lion 10.8.  Begins starting and then says "unexpectedly quit"  Same problem on both versions.  Apparently none of the CS products work with Mountain Lion.  Kind of hard to buy a product when even the trial version doesn't even work.  Is there a fix?

Moving this discussion to the InDesign forum.  InDesign CS6 does work in 10.8.  I have it working on two different Mac's here.  The users in this forum should be able to give some good suggestions for troubleshooting InDesign.  You may want to begin by looking at disabling any third party fonts you have installed.
Also if you transferred the applications over via the Migration assistant please remove the software and install from the installation files.

  • FaceTime won't open since Mountain Lion Upgrade

Ever since upgrading my retina macbook pro to Mountain Lion, my FaceTime App won't open. The camera works just fine in PhotoBooth, so I don't think that's the issue. The application itself just won't open. No errors or anything come up. When I right click the icon in the dock, it just says "Application Not Responding".
    Any ideas???
    Thanks!

  • Microsoft Office 2011 won't work with Mountain Lion update

I have an early 2011 version Macbook Pro.  Until yesterday I have been running Lion, I updated to Mountain Lion last night and now my Microsoft Office 2011 won't work. Does anyone know how to fix this?

When I try to open any MS Office program or file I get an error message that reads "Microsoft Office cannot open because of a problem.  Check with the developer to make sure Microsoft (Outlook, Word etc.) works with this version of OS X you may need to reinstall the application..."  the problem is I bought this Mac used and I don't have the disc to reinstall the application.   I've gone to the MS Office 2011 Mac website and downloaded a service pack and an update (the only two things available to me) but that still doesn't help.  Where would I find the update you are describing?

  • AECS6 won't open in Mountain Lion on secondary hard drive

I have After Effects CS6, file version (no dvds). Using a 4,1 Nehalem Mac Pro, Snow Leopard, w/2 x 2.6 GHz quad core Intel Xeon, 18GB RAM, NVIDIA GTX285 card. A few months after installing AECS6, I bought an internal hard drive and put OS Mountain Lion onto it. When I try to open AECS6 after booting from the new hard drive,  I get a series of error messages including "Quicktime is not installed" and "unknown error". The program crashes before opening.  It still works fine on the original hard drive w/Snow Leopard. I've googled and found a lot of suggestions for helping AECS6 start in Mountain Lion after the "Quicktime is not installed" error message, but none of them seem to work for me. And I'm not sure that it isn't related to the partition. I copied the root AECS6 folder into the new hard drive's Applications folder, still get the same errors. Quicktime 7 and 10 are installed on both drives, along with the appropriate codecs. I know that the codecs are properly installed on the new drive because Nuke can access them.
    Thanks for any help, people.

Using MA for moving Logic Pro/Express across is not a good idea.... as you have found.. because often all kinds of weird issues can arise..
I would suggest you do a full uninstall of Logic.Express. (I assume you have Logic Express as there isn't an app called Logic Pro Express) using this post to guide you.. (its for Logic Pro but much of what is written applies to LE too..)
    http://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30524
    Then...
You need to reinstall Logic Express via the DVDs (Remembering to do a software update immediately as the DVD version does not work with Lion or Mountain Lion..without updates)
Next re-install all 3rd party plugins (not forgetting to register them via whatever means they require) and sample libraries if you use them..
Now your projects should work just fine
It's a long job I know but it is the best and most reliable way of making sure Logic Pro/Express works fine now and in the future..

  • Mirosoft word 2011 won't open in mountain lion

I cant check for an update. It fails before opening.

v14.2.3 is the latest update for ML per Microsoft.
Something got stepped on. If you have a DVD of MS Office for Mac 2011, then see if you can run the uninstaller to remove your installed Office from Mountain Lion.
Within your home folder, move all the files in Library/Caches to the Trash.
Then in the Library/Preferences folder, look for files that start with com.microsoft.Word and Trash them.
    Reboot.
    Empty the Trash
Now re-install MS Office 2011 for Mac.
Update your Microsoft Updater application from www.microsoft.com/mac.
Then, use Microsoft Updater to upgrade Office to v14.2.3.
    Does MS Word work now?
