Keynote 6.0 Presenter View

Just installed Keynote 6. In the previous version you were able to adjust the size and position of elements (e.g. current slide, next slide, notes...) in your presenter view. Any idea how to get this done in v6.0?

Hi,
I like that you can edit presenter notes in presenter view, and adjust font size - this is great.
As per other comments, I use presenter view every day, restricting the size of presenter notes box, and restricting layout is a big step backwards.
Presenter notes are pretty much useless in a tiny box, if you're stood up talking and moving in front of hundreds of people.  You need to glance at the screen and get a key word, figure or stat.  Not stand behind your laptop using 'U' or 'D' to scroll in a tiny box.
If the ability to rearrange the layout and size of current slide, next slide, and presenter view was reinstated - that would be brilliant.
I did like the hand gesture for the slide navigator before too - not a major issue though.
Cheers

  • Keynote Presenter View

Can anyone tell me how to view the presentation in presenter view? I can only look at the presentation on my computer as the audience sees it.

Oh boy! Do I feel sick!!
This iBook is actually not mine own, but the first Mac of someone who I am helping switch to Mac, and who plans keynote addresses as one of its main uses in the next year!
In recommending an iBook to a newbie, I felt it was a wise starter. And… it's not that I don't read A LOT about 'everything-Mac,' having had half the models since my own first Mac in 1984!— but this is the first time, I've seen this in writing about not being able to make FULL use of Keynote with an iBook.
Who'd haved even 'thunk it'..... after all, if the model you buy runs Keynote..... wouldn't it run it fully (esp if there is no small print?)!!!!
Tampering with firmware is NOT something I'd recommend on a brand-new Mac!! Can anyone reading this give any feeling of comfort-zone about using Screen Spanning Doctor???
APPLE please hear this wretched conundrum in which you've put one of your best 'evangelists' (me!!) and a brand new 'switcher! Make this CLEAR to prospective iBook buyers. All you'd be doing is encouarging us to buy the more expensive model anyway — that won't hurt the company's bottom line!
I have a 15" PowerBook 1.67 GHz of my own, and guess(?) I am OK— or do I yet hade to find out that it has to be a 17" one???

  • In presentation view, see multiple slides

i want to be able to scroll through slides on my laptop in "presentation view" while presenting on a projector. i think this is still impossible in the latest keynote, although it is functionality that shows up commonly in other presentation software and has been requested for years. does anyone know a work around?
for example, this is for KN3:

    thanks

try hitting + and - while the show is running and see if it brings up the slide viewer. It does NOT stay up like the one in PPT, but you should be able to tab through slides. You can also bring it up by typing a number. Before you hit return to cue that slide, you'll see the viewer.

  • Presenter view won't display

So I made this fabulous keynote presentation to use in my classroom, and tried to use the presenter view so that I wouldn't forget what was coming up next (as I often do!).
I connected my macbook to both a TV and a projector, but both times when I played the presentation, my screen was the exact same as what was shown on the TV and from the projector.
Under presenter display preferences, I have checked:
-Use alternate display to view presenter information (I also tried it with this unchecked)
-show current slide, next slide, clock, time, and ready to advance indicator
What am I doing wrong? I have a feeling it's probably something very obvious where I'll smack my forehead after someone tells me. But seriously, I tried all morning and couldn't do it.
I'm running Leopard, but I would hope that isn't the problem.
    Merci beaucoup!

Your OS X display preferences need to be set up for monitor spanning, and not monitor mirroring. In the System Preferences, in the Display pane, you can turn on this option.
(If Keynote were smart, when a presentation is set to use the Presenter Display it would recognize when spanning isn't turned on, and would give you a warning or some explanatory information.)

  • URL-linked slides in presenter view?

I have created some Keynote slides that contain Web View insertions -- shots of live Web pages. I want to click on these in my Keynote presentation using a projector. But I have not figured out how to do this. The two-slide view I have as a presenter on my PowerBook allows me to scroll over each of those two slides, but I have to scroll to the projected slide on the big screen to get a live pointer that I can then click to engage my browser to open that Web site. But the screen is BEHIND ME during the presentation. What am I doing wrong? Why can't Keynote give me the ability to be able to click on slides in presenter view so I can open those live Web sites from there? Help ...
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Thanks, Gary. I also have ended up mirroring the display in order to have hyperlinks available. The problem with that, however, is that one forfeits the advantages of the many tools that are built into the presentation mode.
Most significantly, when mirroring displays I can not see the note secton. When lecturing, it would be very helpful to be able to refer to details that I want to use for embellishment, but that I do not want to include in the slides themselves. I would also like to use notes to remind me to put a particular question to the class.
Also significant is not being able to view the upcoming slide/bullet, nor the clock, which would make it much easier to keep things flowing smoothly and at the right pace.
I really hope Apple makes hyperlinks active in presenter view in the next update. It's hard to understand why it's not the case currently.

  • Can not make presenter view work in Yosemite

    Can not make

Thank you for your help and patience. I'm trying to understand this so I can fix it if I get in the wrong situation again (which will be shortly before the crowd wants to see the talk).
I gave the same Keynote presentation on the same MacAir a week earlier, before switching to Yosemite, and everything worked the way I wanted. I installed Yosemite and either the default settings changed or Yosemite switched me back to default settings I had unknowingly changed.
I don't remember seeing the word "Extended" during the 10 minutes that I played with this while some of the crowd watched. I turned Mirroring on and off, moved the bar from screen to screen, turned gathering screens or displays (I forget) on and off—and could not get a combination that displayed the presenter view on my MacAir. I just checked Play > Customize Presenter Display and everything is checked or not checked correctly (i.e., I don't use the notes, and they were the only thing not checked).
I looked in Keynote help. "Extended display" and "extended" produce nothing on this. "Mirroring" and "mirrored display" produce nothing helpful, The section on "Present on a separate display" does say "If you’re using Apple TV and are mirroring your display, you won’t see the presenter display on your Mac," but I wasn't using Apple TV so that doesn't apply. Otherwise, it says everything will automatically be right — but nothing was automatically right.
So the next time I am connected to a projector, How do I switch to Extended display? I am certain that at one or more times I had Mirroring turned off, the bar on the left screen, and there was no presenter view. And I don't remember seeing the word "Exended," or ever having these problems in the past.
PS: I now understand what gathering displays does—it puts the controls on the computer rather than the other display. That could use a better name. There's rarely a reason to turn it off, but when you're trying everything why not try "Gathering" because who knows what that means? And that just slows the process down why you fiddle with controlling everything from a screen behind you.

  • Help! I can preview the presentation in Finder however, when I click on "Open with Keynote" it says, "presentation can't be open". How can i get it to open?

Help! I can preview the presentation in Finder however, when I click on "Open with Keynote" it says, "presentation can't be open". How can i get it to open?

Select one and hit the Space bar to view it in QuickLook. Use the forward arrow keys to move from file to file.   If the file can't be viewed in the QuickLook mode then the file is damaged and probably can't be copied or moved.
You could try a photo file recovery application like  MediaRECOVER which can scan the memory card and tell you what files, if any, can be recovered before you have to purchase it.

  • Animations reset if you switch away from Presenter view?

This may be fairly unique to us, but in the middle of a Keynote presentation while in presenter view, I will have to switch away from Keynote to another application and then I would like to switch back.
The problem is if there are 5 animations on a slide and I am on the third, when I switch back to Keynote for whatever reason Keynote is back at the first animation as if I just pulled the slide up for the first time.
I've poked around to see if there is an option or anything to turn this "feature" off and haven't found anything. I don't know why anyone would want that behavior either.
Anyone have any ideas? For now, I am just chopping up the slides wherever we have those kinds of transition points but it's a real pain. All I want is for Keynote to "Freeze" and chill in the background while I temporarily switch to another program that I need to show, and be right where I left it when I switch back.

    Erik,
I think "am just chopping up the slides wherever we have those kinds of transition points" might be the best possible solution....where at the space you need to switch programs one slide ends and the transition to the next slide requires a manual click ... you use Alt+Tab to switch to the other program, run it, then when finished Alt+Tab back to KN and manually click. (Using Duplicate Slide might be helpful....deleting what you want after the other program from the first and deleting what you wanted before the other program from the second slide....with the manual transition appearing between the slides.)
I will be interested if somebody has an alternative answer.

  • Browsing Websites while in Presenter View Mode?

    Hi,
I am doing many presentations where I have to comment on the content of websites and I have been using a lot the Web View feature, which I love. However, I don't seem to be able to do it while on presenter view mode, since I can't click on the slide to open the browser; it will just go to the next slide.
Is there any way of doing this (apart from using single screen mode)? I am very comfortable on Two Screens mode and I don't want to go on One Screen mode just because I have to show a website online...
    Thanks
    JL
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Thanks. This actually work as you said, by clicking on screen 2.
However, in most cases this may not be very useful...since you have to browse the website also in screen 2, which most times will be behind you, and if it's big it will be hard to read and many links will be hard to reach...
Anyway, I imagine there is no other way and what we need is another feature for Keynote 4...maybe automatic switching from 2 screen to mirror when you browse a website?

Sounds to me more like you have the Display Performance set on Typical rather than High Quality Display. Unless there is a problem with a missing or out-of-date link, the display in ID has nothing to do with output quality -- all of the image data is used for output.

  • Dual Display using "Presenter View" as in MS PowerPoint

I have a T410 type 2522-A92 and want to present slides on a projector screen while on my laptop monitor I can see the slide and my notes.   I have so fare been unsuccessful in doing this.  Is my laptop model not equiped for this task and if so, is there any way I can put this right.

    Hi Kappelmeister,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that you had trouble using extended display in your Lenovo ThinkPad T410.
For using PowerPoint in Presenter Mode, the extended desktop feature must be enabled for this mode to function. Press FN+F7 to switch to extended display mode.
In PowerPoint, go to the Slideshow menu and click "Set up show”.
Click on the Presenter Mode or Show Presenter View.
After doing this and starting the slide show, the slide will appear on the second monitor (the projection screen) and the laptop screen can be used to access something in private.
Refer here for further information on how to configure PowerPoint to use presenter view with two monitors.
    Hope this helps!
    Best regards,
    Mithun.

  • Keynote for Windows Presentation

I have just upgraded to Keynote 3.0.1. I would like to create a slideshow in Keynote for a presentation. The church that will show the presentation uses Windows. I tried last year using Keynote 2, and tried upteen different exports to Powerpoint, but had a variety of issues which are too numerous to mention. So....does anyone know if Keynote 3 has a new solution? Right now I use iPhoto slideshow (which has improved to be honest), but I then have to create a QT movie which obviously loses some of the quality of the images.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

the two biggies for me are soft drop shadows, and images that have transparency placed INSIDE (or as a fill) to a ppt auto shape.
I ran into this second one when I exported a theme I'm working on into PPT 2004. All my photo cutouts are actual Keynote shapes, and I created shadow images that actually sit inside a shape, so you get a nice hard edge on the cutout...but when I opened the PPT file, these shapes (which came over as PPT shapes) which should have shown a shadow with transparency around it ended up with solid white backgrounds.
Then I tried to just use a standard PPT shape and add an image into it, and got the same effect. Transparency INSIDE a ppt shape just isn't supported.
You might also want to look at the transitions and effects to see if they've caught up to Keynote at all.

  • Can you do keynote or PPT presentations via wifi and AppleTV?

Can you do keynote or PPT presentations via wifi and AppleTV?

Not from your mac/PC, but keynote presentations from an iPad 2 with AirPlay are quite simply brilliant. Not only do you have full control of the keynote in your hands, but besides seeing the slides that everyone else is seeing, right in front of you as you look at your audience, you have your notes too.

  • Sudden Change to Slide Show Display/Presenter View Greyed Out

Two weeks ago powerpoint was acting normally. I would come into class, hook my netbook up to the projector, set my monitor output option to extended desktop and start my slideshow in presenter view. This morning I went into class and I was unable to use
presenter view. It was greyed out. I had to clone the displays and wing it without my notes. Also, the slideshow itself *looked* different. There was an orange menu bar at the bottom that I could not get rid of. Has this happened to anyone else?

    Hi Michelle,
Do you mean the "Use Presenter View" option under "SLIDE SHOW" tab on the ribbon is greyed out for you?
When you are in the "Slide Show" mode, please try to right click on the slide and see if you can select the "Show Presenter View" from the context menu.
Have you ever made any changes to your computer recently? You might want to try installing any required updates, including updating your graphic card driver to the latest version, then try again.
"There was an orange menu bar at the bottom..." - Is it possible to share a screenshot of it with us? You can send the file to this email account:
