Keynote Audio

I am having trouble with the audio (imported music from iTunes) starting and stopping throughout the presentation. It does it on both my iBook and my iMac. I have it set to loop.
Thanks, Evelynn

I changed my thinking. I have far exceeded both total file size and individual image size of the test presentation versus the problem presentation (audio interruptions). At this point I don't think the photo size is the problem at all. Found out something very interesting: On my problem presentation with the audio quitting, I changed slide #1 with #2. Slide #2 is actually the first slide in the presentation and my #1 slide is now in position #2. Guess what? This took care of all the audio problems except for one time when it stops in the middle of the presentation. Before I changed these two slides arouond, I had eight audio stop and starts in the presentation. No matter what I did, this continued to stopa number of times in the same place. Ok, does this mean that moving a slide to another position might cause the audio to stop and come back on? If one moves the slides in the original order that will solve the audio problem or at least it seemed to in my case? Tricky, but still working trying to determine more so I can better understand exactly what causes this problem. WIll try switching more slides around to try to fix the one remaining stop in the presentation. At this point I do not think the size of the photos is affecting this audio problem in any way. I will continue to share my results.

  • Can you export Keynote audio in any way?

Is it possible to export recorded Keynote audio at all? I'd like to offer the video as a separate, downloadable mp3 for an online course I'm creating.

    Two possible ways:
    1. Not sure if this will work but worth a try: Export an item description of the track with the subs in. The n open new project and import that Item description which will bring in the track complete with subs, movie and sound. If this is all you want this should work fine.
    2. If however you want to actually export the subs to maybe edit elsewhere or whatever you do the same and export Item Description of the track.
    Download Subtitler
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/26322
And use this to extract the subs from the Item description. Can be a bit flakey but works - make sure you have defined the language of the subs in DVD-SP and also make sure you use the Item Description Import not Auto in Subtitler. Then you can save them as STL file for use elsewhere.
    Hope this helps

  • Have latest macbook pro with latest keynote - audio output question

want to direct the audio to external speaker for a keynote presentation.
I have an old round JBL speaker that I use with my ipod - i am trying to
send the sound through that rather than my laptop speakers.
how do I do that.  can I?

I'm interested in this answer, too.  Pre-installed on a Macbook Pro, 10.7.2 (brand new). Thx.

  • Compress keynote audio file

The Keynote Presentation I'm trying to send on Blackboard, for my college presentation, is not working.  The written portion of the Keynote Presentation will attach to the College Online Blackboard, but the Keynote RECORDED AUDIO portion will NOT attach itself.  Has anyone ever encountered this.  I've posted other Keynote Presentations with success, but this is the only presentation where I've had to record my own voice and it will not attach itself...any clues?

I think you meant the Metrics Inspector? Also, to get this info, you need to have your audio object selected. The QuickTime Inspector does not give you file info, and neither give you file location data. Don't know why, unless Keynote is assuming you've set you media files to be embedded.
BTW, if you ever want to isolate a file outside of a slide, you can drag the proxy icon out of the Media Inspector and drop it on an appropriate app on the Dock. For this audio file, you could drag it onto QuickTime Player, and then Command-click on the proxy icon in QuickTime Player to see the path of where the file originated. Kinda kludgey, but it works...

  • Keynote, Audio file embedded on slide, properties such as file name?

Any way to see the properties of the embedded audio file such as its name, or where it is located? I've converted from Powerpoint, but miss this RClick, Properties option to at least see the name of the file that is embedded.

  • Keynote audio for Windows

I'm trying to prepare a slide presentation in Keynote, that I'll export into Windows.  I can also prepare the presentation in the Mac Version of PowerPoint in Office.
My problem is in embedding an audio file.  I know AIFF will not work on a Windows machine.  I've embedded a .wma file, and it doesn't seem to play, either.
What audio file format do I need to embedd into the program so that it will play on a Windows machine.  Obviously, almost any type of file will play on a Mac, but some of the viewers of the presentation are not yet enlightened.
    Many thanks,
    Czet

These files are Windows Media Audio and are specifically designed to play on Windows. You should test  the wma file on a Windows machine, if at all possible using Windows Media Player, to test the file will play at all.
The issue with exporting Keynote to PowerPoint is the link to the sound file is lost during export.
The sound file is exported to a separate folder called Keynote.ppt_media, this must be copied over to the windows machine with the PowerPoint file or there will be no sound file to use.
The work around is to open  the exported PowerPoint  file in   Windows or Mac version of Powerpoint, delete the sound file and then replace it using;    Insert > movies and sounds.

  • Keynote Audio only left channel

Has anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it?  I am using an M Audio Fastback USB input to record to Keynote and the audio is only recording to the left channel/speaker.  Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong or how to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Paul

    System Properties >  Sound
in the output tab, select Fast Track USBand centre the Balance slider
in the input tab, select Fast Track USB and move the volume slider to the far right
Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI setup > M-Audio > Input;  set the master to the far right
The front panel controls affect analogue phono out connectors and the headphone jacks for monitoring, they do not control recording.

  • IOS6 iPhone Keynote Audio not functioning

I am attempting to view a Keynote presentation on my iPhone.   It has embedded audio.   The presentation is created in PowerPoint 2010.   I have uploaded it to the Cloud and emailed it to myself.  Then opened it on my iPhone.
Neither produced the sound.   It does state that Movies are not supported and were removed.
I have also attempted to create a new Keynote presentation on my iPhone.  It also does not allow me to add in audio.
Is audio not a supported function for Keynote on an iPhone?
    Is it supported on iPad?
    Many thanks
    Kim

    Jimmie,
Try doing a SMC reset and if that doesn't do it then do a PRAM reset. Finally if you still don't have luck with those two restart in Safe Mode.
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • Keynote audio does not play in powerpoint

I made a keynote presentation with audio, saved it as powerpoint, but the audio is not playing in powerpoint

Exporting to .ppt seems to produce an audio file in .mov format in a separate folder. Go figure that one!
I would think that the audio would need to be in MP3 format before a poor old WIndows machine could handle it.

  • Exporting from Keynote - audio/slides no longer in sync

Well after researching this, it seems there is no answer to my issue, but I thought I'd ask anyway.
I have set up a Keynote presentation using Smart Builds. I have four slides. Each slide has approximately 40 pics and one song. The timing of the pics is set to correctly end at the same time the music stops and move on to the next slide, with its pics and music. Everything is timed right in Keynote.
Now I want to burn to DVD. I export to QT. QT plays all the slides with pics and music. However, QT plays back the slides and pics at a faster rate and as a result the pics and music no longer line up.
I suppose I could go back to Keynote and make it "not line up" in there so that it will in QT. But that would be: 1- ridiculous and 2- a huge waste of time (as this would be a "trial and error" approach.
    Any ideas or thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Anyone else experience this?
    Or know of a work-around?
Or perhaps a different way to convert a Keynote to DVD?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Keynote audio yes, video no

I was digging up a keynote file I made a while back which contains many video clips dragged into it. However when I play the videos, some of them have sound, but no video. This is very frustrating and doesn't make any sense. Has this happened to anyone else and is there a fix?

    Botareen,
Yes, there is a fix. It all depends on a couple things. What kind of file is it? .avi, etc? And the builds you have on it also affect the videos. Also, dropping and dragging video files can affect keynote using them. Try deleting them and go to the Insert tab up top and inserting them that way.
    Best of luck

  • Keynote Audio Question

Hey guys - my first post on here...
I'm making a keynote pres. and was wondering if it is possible to have multiple songs play throughout... Right now, I can't seem to find any way to have more than one song play or loop throughout the presentation...
    Any Ideas?
    Thanks

There is a simple workaround. I have done this at numerous places within the slide show with from 6-25 slides. You simply compose the slides and then paste each one with all of its objects on top of the first slide which has the sound file that you want played for all of the slides. Timing will have to be adjusted to suit. I found the easiest way to do this is to create a new Keynote file which I call a build file it contains all of the individual slides and a master slide. After I have set all the objects to build properly on the individual slides I then paste them into the master slide which has the initial transition and the sound file as well as a top level text file which identifies the sound file being played. I paste each additional slide, on the master slide, as a new set of object layers play and adjust timing as required. When I am satisfied I take the finished master slide and paste it into the master Keynote presentation. My most complex one to date has over 200 objects in the build order and takes about 3 minutes to play.

  • Keynote Audio Help

I have a presentation that is around 100 slides, and for the last 15-20 slides or so, I need to play music. I only need the music for these last slides. I can start the music where I need it to start simply by dragging the sound file onto that particular slide. But when I move to the next slide, obviously the music stops. Is there any way for me to have this music continue for the remainder of the presentation and play through the remaining slides? Hope someone has an easy answer, or a possible work around that will do what I need to do. Thanks in advance.

This thread discusses this issue, and provides a possible solution.

  • How do I normalize the audio in keynote?

I have created video in keynote with audio files on each slide.  The audio on each slide have slightly different volumes.  I would like to export the keynote presentation to video with a consistent audio volume, is there a way to do this without importing it into imovie, or some other video editting program?  I would prefer not to import it in imovie because it degrades the color, sound and recrops the original video created by keynote.

This was a great suggestion and it solved my issue although I wish there was something natively, I am so grateful for this suggestion.  Here is my process for correcting the audio for anyone that may be looking for a way to normalize their audio clips:
First I changed the file extension for my keynote presentation and changed it to .zip
This changes your keynote presentation into a normal compressed folder.
I then copied all the audio files that were stored in my presentation folder and converted them to AIFF (Levelator only normalizes WAV and AIFF files) and dragged them into "Levelator"s conversion window.  Levelator batch normalizes and compresses your files and outputs them with a new file extension once converted.  (There isn't any editting options here Levelator seems to normalize and compress to a preset level, simple!)
After the files were converted I changed the file extension and name back to the original file extension and name that was in the original keynote folder and replaced the original keynote audio files with the newly converted ones from Levelator.
This lets you replace your existing audio files in your presentation and keep the timings and settings you already have.

  • Keynote on iPad - no audio since 8.1.1

Has anyone else had problems with audio (as in: no audio) in Keynote presentations on an iPad Air since upgrading to iOS 8.1.1? While audio still works fine in all other Apps on my iPad, it's totally gone from Keynote. The issue is specific to my iPad Air, not my iPhone 6 (same upgrade; same App; same files; no prob). It gets weirder. The iPad Air has no Keynote audio when using either Bluetooth speakers or the integrated iPad speakers. But strangely, it works fine if I plug in headphones. How wacky is that?
I've hard power-cycled the iPad. Nada. I've deleted and reinstalled the Keynote App. No help. I've created a brand new presentation (1 slide) and added just one soundtrack (1 song). Nothing. You can't even hear the audio in the "soundtrack preview" mode, so it's not limited to just presentation mode. Any and all ideas welcome. And no, the mute switch isn't on, and the volume is at full (all bars).
