Keynote crashing after read .key with Presenter Notes

Almost all presentations has notes, and they are crashing.
I can preview the .key pressing "space bar" at finder, but when I try to open that error occur.

You are using the wrong application to do what you want. Keynote is a screen based presentation application.
The notes pane is used to provide cues for the next slide, not as a detailed script to read out a speech.
What you should use a prompter application. Search for Teleprompter in the Mac App Store, there are dozens available.

Firefox crashes after I open with a message, oops how embarassing, and asks which applicaiton to keep open or start new session. I opt for new session and it crashs

For the past two weeks, firefox will will crash after I open it or not open at all but just flash on the screen and disappear. This happens when I open in Google or search on MSN or go to hotmail.

I am doing a presentation in Keynote and can't get my presenter notes on my Mac only and not have them show on the screen.

Sounds like you have display set to "Mirror"
Apple menu > System Preferences > Displays > Display tab > deselect mirror displays

Reader X crashes after 30 secs with Protected mode enabled

Having just deployed Reader X to over 100 PC's via group policy I'm a little dishartened to find that Reader X crashes after 30 secs of being open when protected mode is enabled.
Current setup is as followed:-
Clients are XP SP3, Vista SP2 & Win7 (all crash)
Server 2003 R2 domain
Reader X deployed via MSI using GPO with a transform created using the Reader X customization wizard (only set to disable updates as I'll push these out via GPO also when available).
The problem occurs with standard domain users (doesn't happen if you use an admin account to login and run Reader X), once you disable the setting for "enable Protected mode at start up" and restart Reader X it doesn't crash. I've been reading also that the protected mode creats a sandbox environment that some AV products are currently having issues with, so I've also tested by removing my AV on a test client rebooting and running Reader X with protected mode enabled, the Pc will still crash, so that rules out my AV product.

I am seeing the same problem on Vista SP2 32-bit. I enabled the Protect Mode log and see a bunch of errors relating to registry entries. I am running Adobe Reader X 10.0.1 as a standard privilege user. The problem has been intermittent. Repeated attempts to open the same PDF will result in Adobe Reader X failing after 45 seconds, then the next attempt will work fine. I have had situations where an Adobe Reader X instance has been open for hours but a new instance crashed. I have not been able to identify any trigger that might explain the difference in behavior. The problem has gone away since disabling Protect Mode.

AE CS3 Crashes after every render with Apple ProRes 422 HQ

I'm rendering some green screen shots with composited backgrounds (short clips, only 10-20 seconds max) and After Effects will crash after every render of footage that has been exported from Final Cut to Apple Pro Res 422 HQ codec. The original footage was Sony EX1 codec, but as I say - was converted before importing into AE.
It will also not let me do batch renders, and will only get a few seconds in to the render. After every time it crashes, it tells me that it saved a copy of the render, and then usually gives me a message about how AE quit unexpectedly and I have the option of reporting or relaunching.
I have 12 Gb of Ram in my MacPro with 2x3.2 Ghz Quad-Core Xeon processors and the latest OS.
AE behaves normally when i animate some Illustrator or Photoshop files and render to various codecs and will not crash. Any suggestions?

Animation at best quality is lossless so you can't get any better than that for the bit depth. The only problem with Animation Codec is that the files are big. I try and use lossless codecs for all of my interim renders. I only use compression when I'm doing the final renders.

Reading PDF with Links not working in iOS or Android

Good day all,
I have created a PDF file that has links to other PDFs. The file would be over 500 pages long, and too large to download to devices for viewing, so we as a company have determined that the best thing is to create Bookmarks and/or Table of Contents.
I have tried both of the following ways, and neither work...so any help would be appriciated.
First, create a link in the main document with "Go to a page in another document" action item. When you open the main PDF document and click on the link...it returns an error as Page Not Found in any PDF viewer on a mobile device (including Adobe Reader).
Second, create a link with "Open a web link" action item. When you open the main PDF document from any PDF viewer on the mobile device and click on the link, it will then open the browser to view the second document. We would want it to open within the viewer on the mobile device.
I have tried to post this in the Adobe Reader section, and did not get a response...trying here now....seems I cannot get an answer from anyone at Adobe either.

Keynote crashing after update

After the recent Keynote update I find the application has started crashing during presentations. It might be slides with just pictures or slides with an object (arrow for example) appearing. The presentations were fine before - now getting crashes. These are presentations I am converting from Mac Keynote to iPad Keynote. Am having to go back and skip slides, remove object buildins, etc - doesn't really seem to be a rhyme or reason to why the crashing is occurring. Anyone else seeing this?

Narrowed the crashing down. The crashes are because of out of memory problems on the iPad ( looked at the crash logs for the iPad in the iTunes folder). Turns out it was a particular transition was the culprit - namely Page Flip. As soon as I changed to another slide transition, such as dissolve or mosaic, the crash problem went away. Ultimately it looks like that paltry 256 MB of RAM is the problem.

How do I record with presenter notes in view?

I want to develop and rehearse a presentation by recording it.
The ideal way to do that would be by having the presenter display visible while I record it. That would allow me to view my notes, next slide and timing as I record.
However, the default seems to be the full slide display. Is there anyway to change this?
Would having a secondary display make a difference?
Also is there a way to rerecord only one slide at a time?

Not sure you can do it with just one display. I tried and can't figure out a way. However, it's a snap with two displays.
First go to your system preferences and open up displays and make sure to UNCHECK mirror displays.
Then go to keynote preferences and under slide show check the box to present on primary or secondary display (depending on how you have arranged them in sys prefs) then under presenter display you can use the alternate display to view the presenter info.
This is always the way I give presentations. I use the projector to show to audience and my laptop as the presenter display. I can always see my notes and what is coming next, the time, etc, but the audience only sees the current slide.
As a side note by NOT mirroring your displays you can create a "clean wallpaper" on the projector and you audience can't see what you doing on your primary screen. This is great if you want to cue something up but don't want your audience to see it before you are ready.

Mail and Safari Crash after Full Restore with Time Machine

I did a complete restore with time Machine. I opened Mail and it did it's thing importing all the mail and creating it's new index and folders. Now Mail and Safari will not work. They crash every time I open them.
They were working fine, the only reason I did the restore was I inadvertently formated my hard drive while trying to install boot camp.
Anyone have any idea what to do?

I have exactly the same problem as iGin. All other programs appear to be behaving normally, just Apple Mail and Safari crash immediately after starting them up - very annoying!

System crashes after waking; problems with distnoted, graphics chip error

I am running 10.3.9 on a Dual 1 GHz G4, with 1.5 GB SDRAM, a GeForce4 Ti 4600 LCD display, and a LaCie 1394 external drive. I have recently started to put my computer to sleep at night, rather than leaving it running 24 hours a day (I also installed sleepwatcher, to allow me to put my computer to sleep remotely, and anacron, to allow the nightly system maintenance jobs to continue to run). This was working fine for about a week, but for the last two days, when I woke my computer up in the morning, I got kernel panics after a few minutes. First some aspects of the display would start to get mangled (e.g. strange lines appearing, some text that I typed not showing up, icons in the dock looking speckled, etc.), then some applications would stop responding, and then a minute or so later I would get the feared kernel panic message ("You need to restart your computer" in multiple languages).
This problem only seems to occur after the computer has been asleep for a long time (I've only experienced it after it's been asleep for 12 hours or so, and not when it's only been asleep for a few minutes). The only thing I can think of that I've changed in the last few days is an AppleScript that mounts my external LaCie drive (using "do shell script diskutil mountDisk ...") before backing up my files - using FoldersSynchronizer - then putting my computer to sleep (before I was never UNmounting this drive, so I didn't have to mount it in the AppleScript - I was still using the script to back up the files then put the computer to sleep).
I have tried running Apple's Disk Utility (both to repair the permissions, and to repair the disk), DiskWarrior (to rebuild my startup disk), fsck, and TechTool Deluxe. None seemed to reveal any major errors except the "Surface Scan" in TechTool, which failed, presumably because of media defects in the disk (but my understanding is that fixing this would require reformatting my disk, something that I only want to do as a last resort).
My system.log shows the following, from the time I woke my computer to the time I restarted (I've highlighted some suspicious-looking lines). It seems like the problem might either be occurring in distnoted, or with the graphics chip. Any thoughts on how I can determine the cause of the problem?

Any thoughts on what might be causing this problem? After a little experimentation, I've managed to narrow the problem down a little, but still haven't resolved it. My computer still crashes almost every time I wake it up after a long sleep (multiple hours). Things work fine for a few minutes, but then some aspects of the display start to get mangled (e.g. strange lines appearing, text becoming distorted, etc.), then some applications start crashing and the system hangs. Sometimes I get a kernel panic, but not always - but I always need to reboot to solve the problem.
The errors in the system log files differ from crash to crash, but the one thing that seems to be consistent is that I get a "Graphics chip error". Is this usually a hardware problem, or can it be due to a software problem? Sometimes this graphics chip error is the first error to occur, although sometimes an application will crash a few seconds before the graphics chip error is recorded in the system.log.
In my original post, I suggested that the problem might be due to an AppleScript that mounts an external drive. I have since determined that this is NOT the cause of the problem.
Any thoughts on what might be going on?

Lightroom 5 crash after reboot on mac, will not open

I was using lightroom yesterday and it was running ok, went to synch a folder I had been doing final edits on it photoshop.
I stopped using the computer to watch the game and this morning when i try to open lightroom 5, creative cloud and it won't open, crashes before it even opens.
I logged out of creative cloud twice and logged back in, still won't open.

Well that did it. I had to manually hack AE CC to make it work with my Video Card and now it works just fine.

Obviously Adobe has not properly activated the ability to activate your own cards in AE yet. Come on Adobe!

Keynote Crashes after Mac OSX 10.5.2 Update

Keynote launches.
Shows start screen. Crashes in about 3 seconds.
Happens only after 10.5.2 update.
hmmmm

Now this is weird. When I went into Apple Mail preferences and unchecked the SSL box in ADVANCED then all of my emails came through fine and even my test messages to that email account. Perhaps that is the issue. Do I need to use SSL and what is it????

Windows XP crashes after Reader 9 update!

Last week, one of my PC's died. I restarted it one day, and after the usual boot sequence and the Windows XP Flag, all I got was a black screen.
I had to restart it to get away from the blank screen, and Windows offered me the option of safe mode, last working configuration, etc... I tried the last working config, but no improvement. I remembered the Adobe had been the last update I'd noticed, so I tried to uninstall it in Safe mode, but it reminded me that I can't uninstall in Safe mode.
I finally gave up, backed up any important files, and reinstalled Windows XP (reformatting the drive). Obviously, you can't live with Reader, so I downloaded it again. When it updated, it killed XP again!
Does anyone know of a way to uninstall Reader 9.1 or something else in Safe mode? (since that's the only way I can boot up now)
Also, any idea why this is happening? It's not a cluttered Registry or anything because the Registry is about as blank as it can be!

I had exactly the same. Running Reader 8.1 for some months, yesterday I couldn't open a PDF file. Adobe reader 8. error message. I tried to repair it. No luck. downloaded Reader 9, installed and rebooted. My c drive was totalled. A complete day to try and run XP. No chance. Adobe reader killed my XP. Luckily I run a twin drive system so have swapped the C-drive with the E-drive.
In all my years of computing - starting with a ZX81 - i have never had such a disaster.
This is a moajor flaw in Reader 8 or 9. Why does it need to go deep into the OS?
If I can't find a solution, I will have to re-format the drive after moving all my software to another drive.
Message to Adobe - If it ain't broke don't fix it with yet another bloated version of reader.
I believe you know about this problem and I suggest you should tell me how to repair my C drive without having to format the whole drive.
