Keynote created in 6.5 won't open in 6.1

Anyone else encountering this issue?
A Keynote presentation created in version 6.5 (Yosemite) cannot be opened on another mac with keynote version 6.1 (Mavericks).
Attempts are met with "Cannot be opened" and prompts to update to Yosemite.
I work at a University so not all users or machines are always in sync and up to date for various reasons.
Shouldn't there be some backwards compatibility?

Keynote 6.5 is backwards compatible and can open older files. You're looking for forward-compatibility. You would think if the software is a similar version like 6.2 and 6.5. it could still open it but there must have been a large enough change in the software that Keynote 6.2 can't read that file, maybe to prevent it from corrupting the document. You can go to iCloud.com to open the file and edit the file.

-If she emails it the other person cannot open it.
-If she copies it even from her desktop where she saved it to the folder with all the other files, it opens blank.

I think they must be swapping out .html for .chm in DW or something. What the OP describes sure sounds like what happens when you do that.

DW doesn't support .chm file types. Adding the extension doesn't compress the images into the file to create a true .chm.
Adding .chm will make a perfectly good .html file stop displaying in DW though.
An easier way to send someone .html help files would be to archive their folder as a .zip then email the .zip. The recipient would then need to extract the archive to view the files in their browser.
I don't know of any way to create real .chm files in DW.

Keynote made on my ipad3 won't open on Macbook pro

I created keynotes presentation on my iPad 3, sent via email (i selected keynote format) to my self so I can open and revise it on my MacBook Pro, once I try to open it says unable to pen because it is not a valid format or something. I have all apple stuff..it should be the same format!,,!,,,,!
Any ideas?
Another issue: I plug a USB stick on my iPad 3, it won't open it, it says it requires too much power?

Where ar eyou looking on your iPad to see your music. Many people mistakenly look in iTunes app when they should be looking in Music app.
If you are doing it correctly, you can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Resync and try again to see if the problem persists.

Keynote file i updated yesterday won't open

I'm feeling nauseous. I updated a very large file that i've been working on for years yesterday. Upgraded it to new keynote. Now....it won't open. At all. Just says "can't be opened". I tried keynote 09, new keynote. Tried dragging into new keynote icon on deck.
OMG. I've only had problems with this new effing keynote. I didn't even question that it would corrupt all of my content.

Use Keynote version 5 to open edit and play version 5 presentations.
Only use Keynote version 6 for new presentations.

Keynote 6.5.2 update won't open with Yosemite 10.10.2

Keynote 6.5 won't open even though I've updated it from 6.2.2. My OS X version is Yosemite 10.10.2. I get the error: Install the latest version of OS X, then download the latest version of Keynote from the Mac App Store. I have done all possible updates and restarted my computer and still this error happens. On my other computer with OS X 10.10 Keynote 6.5 opens just fine. How do I fix the problem with it not opening in 10.10.2?

It is hard to say what this could be. If you are still getting prompts to upgrade Keynote, it may be trying to open an older version. I would try and delete Keynote and then download it again. I would also try to open it within Launchpad or opening it directly from the Mac App Store to see if the error comes up again. If it does let me know.

Problem solved. It helps to use CS5 to open a CS5 document. When you use the right key, the door opens. Lesson: Don't store installation discs of inactive versions with installation discs of current versions.

Have the same issue. Use the same version and OS. I get sometimes the message 'Could not save the document. No such file or directory. What happens is that the file is corrupted and not usable anymore.... Sorry i can not help, but this is a serious error and we get crazy here since we have several stations with the same problem....

Docs created in iWork beta won't open in iOS Apps. Why?

Any docs that I create in the beta apps of Pages, Keynote &Numbers that are saved to iCloud will not open in the iOS version of iWork. I get a message that I need to upgrade to the latest version on iOS. When I do that, I go to the App Store and see that I have the latest version. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this file to the Desktop.
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
Reboot.
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.

Pages Documents created on my iPad won't open on my MBP

My daughter has a MBP running 10.8.3 with Pages ’09 v4.3. and an iPad 2 running 6.1.3 with Pages 1.7.2 that she takes to Uni.
Pages documents that she creates on her MBP and saves to iCloud will open on both her MBP and her iPad but Pages documents that she created on her iPad and saved to iCloud will not open on her MBP.
The error message states-
"You need a newer version of Pages to open this document. Use Softwear Updtate to install the latest version of iWork"
She has run Software Updates on both devices and everything appears to be up to date.
Suggestion on how to fix this problem would be appreciated.

Does she happen to have an older version of iwork on her Mac by any chance? I wonder if the document has somehow been attached to an older version of Pages & that is why the error is showing? I had the same problem with a quicken file. when I downloaded the web connect file, I got an error that the file couldn't be opened. I think I had to right click on the file & then choose 'open with' to find the correct application.
If that doesn't fix it, it might also be worth emailing herself the document to see if the issue is in the export from the ipad, or if it's with the icloud part of the equation.

ZIP file created in OS X won't open correctly in XP

I created a ZIP file of a 196MB folder (full of pictures) in OS X using the right-click, "Compress." When a friend tried to unzip this file in Windows XP, the only file inside the archive was a 0KB file titled _MACOSX. The ZIP file itself was still the correct size, but it was essentially 196MB of empty space. When I open the same ZIP file on my Mac, everything appears as it should,

URLs created in Click Boxes won't open in published file

I have a series of click boxes in several modules that point to URLs. The links don't work in the published module, but work fine in preview mode (both preview and preview in browser). What can cause the links to not open?
I hear a click sound when I click on the link box, but no window appears. I've tried all the possible settings for the click box. I've ensured there is no pop-up blocker turned on. I have also checked the flash player settings to confirm they are not blocking the links. I have the same problem in IE7 and Firefox. I have had five others test this module and the links work for three of them. I am running Captivate 4 on Windows XP Professional.
What do I have to do to ensure that my links work for everyone? These are training modules that are to be distributed to hundreds of users. I've not run into this issue with Captivate before, and this is the 8th training I've created with it.

.pse multi-page document created in Elements 6 won't open in Elements 12.

Recently upgraded to Photoshop Elements 12 from version 6 (Mac). When I try to open a .pse multiple page document created in 6, I get the error message "can not open this multiple page document".

The only workaround i can think of offhand is to open the individual files that make up the pse into photoshop elements 12.
Right click on the pse file and click on Show Package Contents
Then in the finder window that opens you should see a folder with the individual psd files inside.
Those psd files should then open in the pse 12 editor.

Just purchased converter, did 3 pdf converts to excel and word. When I try to open it says file format not supported, or was sent as an email. What am I doing wrong? I have office 2010. Thanks

IDVD09 won't open iDVD 6 project

A step back to backward compatibility??!!! This is such a disappointing "upgrade"! I should have read the fine print before shelling out $80 for this! I just assumed that since all the other upgrades had no issues with opening previous versions of iMovie, that '08 would not be different. I edit in FCP 6.01 but my son, a big fan of iMovie had to revert back to iMovie 6.x. I hope an update will allow iMovie users to open their last masterpiece produced in this "matured" version.

Keynote 6 is compatible with Mavericks only, your profile states you are using Snow Leopard, if thats the case use Keynote version 5 and all will work as before.
