Keynote Font Stability in 2.1

I've been working on my powerbook G4 to build keynote slides and I have to use Arial font. However, when I move the slide deck to the presentation powerbook G4 (different machine), the fonts automatically default to Gil Sands.
I made sure both computers have the same version/copy of Arial (and the same version of Keynote), but it keeps happening. How can I get the font to stay the same or is Gil Sans the keynote default font (when it doesn't recognize the font used)?

Hi pramod,
Is this css file in your local? If it's local file, you should open your DS, and upload this file. (Application proporties-> Custom CSS)
Than you should write your css classes, for exp (.color or something like that) in your companent's CSS Class.

  • Which Keynote fonts & transitions are compatible with Powerpoint?

    Hi,
I've used some jazzy transitions in my Keynote and will export to Powerpoint and play it from a PC. Now I'm told that there might be compatibility issues with the transitions. Can anyone tell me what are the safe transitions I can use in Keynote that Powerpoint will play without hiccups? Similarly, I've used some fonts like Catull and Headline. Will these be a problem in Powerpoint or does it just read off the pixels, not the font?
    Thanks.

You will have font problems unless you can install your fonts on the pc. There aren't many compatible transitions, even dissolve may turn into the ugly blocky transition if you have Powerpoint 2003. Pushing a slide to the side may translate. It's just not a good idea to create a fancy presentation in Keynote when you know you are going to have to convert it to PC Powerpoint. You will always create more work for yourself. You can do initial layout in Keynote but any animating, special fonts, etc. you should do in the platform you will use in the end.

  • How to replace missing Keynote Font

I just switched from MS powerpoint to Keynote. I could not be happier, well I could but I am happy
The problem I have is that I ahve a good number of older presentations that I am working on that having missing fonts. I know how to add fonts to font book but I just want to replace hte missing fonts in keynote.
So I select each text box and set font to arial, close reopen same missing font. I try applying master to slide close reopen same missing font. I cannot seem to find where hte missing font is actually used. Anyone have any ideas?

I am also having the same problem, but with Keynote presentations made on a G4 Lap Top which now have "missing" fonts (Arial is the most bothersome) when I open them on a MacBook Pro (same version of Keynote on both).
If I attempt to replace the font Keynote has substituted for Arial with Arial (yes, Arial still appears in the list of fonts) and save the presentation, when I reopen it, the Arial is missing again!
Looking around on the internet I saw some indications that the problem may stem from the font name having been changed from ArialMS to ArialMT, but there was no solution suggested.

  • Keynote fonts are missing !!

This afternoon I downloaded the latest version of iOS5 and iTunes, but now my keynote presentations have lost fonts and all my text is disordered.
I have not found how to restore this. Help!!

I get the same error. I figured out one of the fonts, which I hadn't installed yet on the box. Didn't help. Even though the new font shows up in the font chooser after opening the presentation, Keynote insists it's missing and uses a default choice while opening the font.
I'm not playing games here; this is a teaching presentation I've spent a few hundred hours on over the last 4 years. This bug effectively breaks dozens of slides because they have builds and highlighting that were to line up with the original text. In other words, I can't use Keynote 6 with this bug.

  • Keynote font and format changing upon paste

    Hello Apples.
I have a strange bug with Keynote.  When I copy and paste text or graphics from one slide to another in the same presentation, the formatting gets lost.  It never happened before.  For example, if I copy a text field that is in Arial, when I paste it on another slide, the font switches to Gill Sans and changes size.  Also, if I copy a colored rectangle, when I paste it, it switches back to being filled by that horrible default grey mess. I have resported to using "duplicate", then editing the resulting text.
Is there a setting that I may have changed? Thanks in advance.
I am using Lion and Keynote '09.

Still no solution. If I adjust a page that was created in iWeb 08 (now converted to iWeb 09) and republish it in iWeb 09 some font sizes and formatting can change. Any suggestions of how to combat this problem would be gratefully accepted. Thanks

  • Keynote font case changes on converted PPT files

Font case does not change with master in ppt files converted to keynote. How do I do this? I am running Lion on an iMac and use Office 2011 and Keynote 09

If my mind observes a critical factor that does mean I was criticising you, Brie Fly. I was just observing it's a massive increase, more for Peter than you anyway, because he's really knowledgeable and good at breaking things down when needed.
"Safe distance" uhm is that what I'm thinking it is?
    "That's real helpful."
'Instead of cursing the dark, go light a candle' (in your heart). Now who said that...
I have never criticised you – even when you go of half cocked with ignorant statements and the OP never comes back to find out something is do-able despite your assurance the software "isn't designed to do that". There, I guess you got my first criticism – been holding that back for months now. Consider your pleasant remarks now justified and let's have a truce, okay?

  • Keynote font resize key combo (cmd=)

Usually while creating my Keynote presentations, the increase font key combo works fine, by pressing the keys CMD/= to increase the font incrementally.  But impeccably the key combo stops working half way through my project, and I am forced to begin using the key combo CMD/SHIFT/= thereaffer.  Has anybody alse experienced this and found a way to restore the key combo back to CMD/=?
What causes the application to stop accepting the original key combo???
And if the key combo should have always been CMD/SHIFT/=, why did the application accept CMD/= to begin with???

It is interesting that, in Keynote, using CMD= seems to enlarge fonts, but the correct key combination increase font size is CMD+ -- that is CMD + Shift + "+" which is the upper case part of the =/+ key requires the shift key to access --- the same is true to decrease font size -- the correct key combination is CMD = Shift + "-" , again, it requires the shift key to access it.
I can't explain why sometimes it works without the shift key, but if you use the shift key it will always work correctly.

  • Keynote Font Nightmare

    Hi,
For some unknown reason, Keynote cannot find fonts connected to presentations and even templates. See screenshot example here:
    http://www.badtastic.com/misc/keynotefont****.jpeg
The missing fonts can be found via Spotlight and are usually .dfont format. Installing them using FontBook yields no positive results either. They simply refuse to install. This is all very mysterious because everything worked fine a couple months back. Its driving me nuts.
I would most grateful if anyone out there has some idea or solution as to what may be causing the program to be crippled in this way.
    Cheers / Badtastic

  • Keynote - font question

Apologies, I'm using Keynote for the first time, can anyone advise...
If I prepare a keynote doc, save it as Powerpoint for my client and pass it along, will the fonts be ok that I have used, I mean will they show up ok if the presentation is shown on any other computer (like a PDF?)
    hope to hear from you

  • Keynote 5.3 font rendering issue

Expert fonts not rendering in Keynote 5.3 regardless if they are in the user font folder or managed by Suitcase Fusion 4. However, they do render fine in CS 6 applications. Any thoughts on how to remedy?

Thanks for the suggestion Gary, but no luck. I had also already used Font Doctor 8.2.0 (which is bundled with Fusion 4) to verify/validate all my fonts. For some reason it is just the expert settings – Minion, Adobe Garamond, Adobe Caslon, etc. – that do not render in Keynote. Though the Keynote font selector says Minion Expert Regular what I see is a default sans serif font. However, there is not problem in InDesign and other CS 6 applications.

  • Corrupt fonts on iWork 09

After a updated my mac to snow leopard, I've been facing some font issues. But I was capable to solve all of them.
This time I couldn't. My Keynote fonts (most of them) are all messed up, and I've tried to clear the font cache, uninstall and install keynote again, update keynote, yada yada yada...
    Help.

No, actually it's looking okay, and is kind of what I expected. Your files aren't necessarily corrupted, it's that OS X cannot "see" (and therefore show you) your files in the same way that OS 9 can.
Since you mentioned OS 9 and the presence of the "RESOURCE.FRK" and "FINDER.DAT" files, that's evidence that the drive you're using is PC-formatted. Most hard drives, unless they're marketed specifically for Macs, are almost always formatted as "FAT-32" (aka PC-Exchange) out of the box.
Mac-formatted disks like Mac OS Standard (HFS) and Mac OS Extended (HFS+) support files that have resource fork information as well as additional metadata such as file type and creator codes. PC-formatted disks don't have support for this type of information in the same way that Mac-formatted disks do. In order to preserve the content of a resource fork-based font suitcase, Mac OS 9 would split the single file into 3 different parts: a "Times" file, a "FINDER.DAT" file, and a "TIMES" file inside a "RESOURCE.FRK" folder. As you mentioned, you noticed the presence of similar files when looking at the disk from OS X.
The best thing to do is to take the drive back to your OS 9 Mac and hook it up. When you look at the contents of the drive from OS 9, your files will appear fine. You should take the files off of the drive and save them to the Mac OS 9's local hard drive. Then use Drive Setup to reformat the drive as Mac OS Extended (doing this will erase the contents of the drive, which is why you want to take the files off of it first). Then, copy the files you want to transfer to your other Mac back onto the drive. When you hook it back up to your OS X Mac, the files should appear fine.
    Hope this helps....

  • IDVD 6.02  track initialization problems and no disk image

"There was an error during track initialization and iDVD can't continue burning this DVD (the disc has not been touched yet!). Select 'Delete Encoded Assets' from the Advanced-menu and try burning this project again."
This has happened 5 times now both when trying to burn to DVD-R and trying to save as disk image on desktop. Very frustrating.
Project exported to IDVD from Keynote 3.01 running OSX 10.4.7 on a Powermac G5 D2.3 GHz with 2.5GB RAM.
The project is just 1GB using iDVD 4 theme "Transparent Blue" with a run time of 15:14 mins and HD has over 20GB free.
Also tried it from the other internal HD which has over 100GB free.

fonts look poor compared to the straight QT movies
that are part of the project and made using iMovie.
Your QT movies are probably much higher resolution than your DVD.
    JEPGS are pretty hi res.
Ultimately, all the resolution you can get on an NTSC DVD is 640x480 pixels in the square pixel terms of digital cameras. The HD discs we can create today have the same 'limited' resolution - they just stretch the pixels on playback.
Someday ... when we can all afford systems with TRUE HD format burners and players, things will get better.

  • Pdf created with Mathematica 9 misses font in Preview and Keynote

    Dear all,
I have installed a new font called 'Arev Sans' in Regular, Italic and Bold face. It works fine in Keynote and Mathematica and all other programs so far. Now I did an Export of a plot in mathematica and tried to look at the created pdf with Preview. It turns out, that only the Italic and Bold fonts of Arev Sans are shown in the correct way. The Regular face is substituted by another font. Unfortunately this is the same if I try to include the plot in Keynote, which is bad because I want to use the Arev font in my presentation... However, if I open the pdf with Acrobat Readrer the fonts are ok.
Does anyone have a suggestion what to do? Would be great!

I did as you suggested and there are no errors after the valdiation with Font Book.
Yes Regular is listed against Arev.
Actually, the font works in Keynote and also in Mathematica. The problem occurs just when I do the Export from Mathematica and include the created pdf into Keynote (or likewise open it with Preview). It seems to me that there is an issue with the font coming from Mac Os...

  • How can I make sure fonts in a Keynote presentation developed on iMac will show/match when transferring the presentation to MacBook Air?

It would seem (to me) this should not be an issue, but I have an iMac and MacBook Air with the identical version of OS (10.7.4) and Keynote ('09 5.1.1).  Yet, the fonts don't match.  Fonts I would regularly use when developing the presentation on the iMac do not transfer (create "Review" errors) to the Air.  How can I fix it so that all the fonts on iMac show on Air?

If I am understanding your question correctly what you are wanting to achieve is not possible. You can't run the same keynote presentation on both devices at the same time. Also, why would you want to use the small screen size of the iPhone as your display instead of the iPad? If it is just to see your presenter notes then print them out and use the iPhone as your remote.
Perhaps more info is needed so i fully understand your issue.
