Keynote Hyperlinks on Website

When I add hyperlinks to other Keynote pages they work fine in Keynote and on the exported Quicktime movie. However, when I then embed the Quicktime into a web page and upload it, the links are dead on the webpage. Any suggestions?

I believe this is due to a security fix in QuickTime. Some scammers would make a QuickTime movie LOOK like a normal image but, as it "played", it would start opening up browser windows at certain points in the movie. All they'd have to do is create a few malicious sites, have that movie open those sites, and your Windows machine is infected before you even realize it!
So, as a compromise, those links still work in QuickTime player, BUT they don't work when played in the browser anymore.

An external hyperlink should handoff to Safari and leave iBooks.
If that's not happening, perhaps there is something misconfigured on your iPad? Have you manually confirmed those links work in Safari on your iPad?

• Keynote and a website

Using Keynote files I export them to Quicktime, pdf, and ppt formats.Using the servers web site all formats save >key can be loaded. The keynote will not upload. Why?? To get around this I used Fetch and Cyberduck to upload the .key files. They uploaded fine but would not fit in alphabetical order on the Web Administrstion page. Minor problem??
Now going into the website "learningtidbits.net." Am still not able to find some of the exercises, but that may a problem for the "expert" who is handling the HTML part of this venture.
For instance when one clicks on "Some Fractions sixths" every-
thing opens and can be read save the .key format. It opens but you see "index" and a lot of gibberish which looks like it is for each individual slide. The .key file is included so that interested parties can alter the slides to suit their needs. Am going to visit an Apple Store genius tomorrow, but thought some out there may have had a similar experience. Am 76 years old and not too savy about computers. Please keep it simple!
Thank you. Fletcher Hosmer

Welcome to the discussions, Learnin.
A Keynote file is actually a folder with files within. For example, If you take any folder and add .key to the end of it, the system will give it a Keynote file icon.
To properly upload a Keynote file, you'll need to archive it first. Simply right click (or control click) on the file and choose "Create Archive of..." and then upload the .zip file.

• Keynote hyperlinks don't work after exporting to html

I'm working with Keynote in iWorks '08 on an iMac running OS 10.5.2. My hyperlinks (graphic and text) work perfectly running Keynote as a slide presentation, but not when I export it to an html format. What am I doing wrong here?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Jeff
PS: The hyperlinks do work after exporting in flash or pdf format, but our webmaster says I can't use those formats due to compliance issues.

I noticed this as well. What I realized is that Keynote seems to just export the slide as a .jpg with a an .html file referencing the .jpg image. So in essence it is not creating an .html file of the slides contents but rather a reference to a picture of the slide. I haven't tried but maybe "send to" iweb and then "publishing to folder" will give you what you need. Not sure.

• Hyperlinks in website doesn't work

I design my own website using Publisher. All/Most of my hyperlinks does not work with Mozilla Firefox. All is perfect with IE, but not with Mozilla Firefox. Please could you help me explain how I can get all my hyperlinks to work. This affects my business major, as I have a marketing website for Accommodation in South Africa.

That is an MS Office document with VML code and not valid HTML code.
If you look at the page source (View > Page Source) then you will notice the VML code that shows as green comment.
Make sure that you disable VML code when you save the page in the editor.
VML (MS Office code) only works in IE and not in other browser like Firefox.
• Keynote, hyperlink to hidden slide problem

I'm currently making a keynote that on one picture has a hyperlink to a slide. When the keynote is finished I don't want the presentation to show the slides that my hyperlinks are referring to. But if I try to hide the slide the hyperlink is linked to, the hyperlink is disabled. Suggestions?!
Oliver

Hi,
You could try putting a couple of blank slides or a 'the end' slide immediately after your presentation and stopping the slideshow manually.

• Keynote hyperlink

I am working on iphone presentation. Some of hyperlinks are broken or not working after export as PDF. why? and how do I fix it?

Thanks Gary
The goal is to create PDF with all working hyperlinks for mobile prototype presentation. Right now, hyperlinks are not working. Can it be fixed with Adobe Acrobat? If so, how?
As an another option, if I purchase the mobile version of keynote, can I open the file from desktop keynote and play presentation in keynote app? Then, would all the hyperlinks work?

• Keynote hyperlink failure in iweb

I have created a flash file in keynote, then exported it to iweb .... all works fine; except for any hyperlinks that were created with the file. These seem to disappear when it gets exported into iweb. The only solution that I've found is to create an invisible box shape over the subject once it's been exported, and then enable that as a hyperlink. However this doesn't cause the arrow to change to a hand, which is what I want.
Any help out there?
Macbook using keynote08 and iweb08.

Duncan, the reason for the Hyperlink not appearing as such is beyond me, but the solution would be easy.
Just make a "click me to continue" notice somewhere on the page.
Many Flash intro's have these so why not yours?

• Keynote hyperlink to new file

When a hyperlink is set to open a new file, is there a way to automatically close existing file when new one is opened?

Welcome to the forums, ChrisEsch.
Having no hands-off (or even cursorless) solution is a real problem. You might export just the music-laden presentation as a high-res full-screen QT movie, and embed that as a full-slide video on the first slide of the "second" presentation. Or, if the presentation will loop continuously, a better solution might be to export both the Keynote presentation and the soundtrack into iMovie, edit the video to the audio, and create a Quicktime movie.
You might also be able to cobble something together in Applescript that automatically runs the second presentation when the first finishes, and keeps looping until stopped.
As for the black between presentations, I'm not sure there's a good answer for that within Keynote, at least not one that isn't terribly cumbersome (such as running two copies of Keynote and switching between them again using Applescript). Again, exporting one of the presentations as a movie that runs on a single slide of the other would solve this.

• Can keynote hyperlink to another program

I'd like to use keynote to hyperlink to another program. According to the inspector I can only link to a quicktime movie, webpage, or another keynote file!
Any ideas?

Dear Tulse,
Thanks for your reply. I don't think it's a matter of security, this isn't anything that involves networking or sensitive data- all I wanted Keynote to do is to open up, say, a Word or an AppleWorks/Inspiration file which could then be used to brainstorm > save > then back to the presentation.
regards,
There are probably good security-related reasons why
Keynote doesn't do this. I'm also not clear what you
would want Keynote to do with the launched
application, since it can't actually communicate with
it in any fashion, nor would it be easy for the
launched app to return to the presentation when it
was finished with whatever it was doing.
With all this said, I think it would be hugely
beneficial if Keynote could run AppleScripts when an
object was clicked -- then it would much like
HyperCard, and one could launch apps and communicate
with them very easily. The security issues would
still apply (for that matter, there'd be more of a
risk), but I'm sure there would be a way around this
issue.

• Keynote hyperlink issue

Having issues when using hyperlink function to link to another keynote file. When hyperlink is clicked, the linked file shows up for less than a second, then black screen is seen for approx 6 seconds. After that both files are open on the screen and keynote is no longer in play mode. Have never had this issue prior to updating to OSX.Kind of a bummer when giving a long presentation having to go mess with keynote 30 times instead of just clicking on the hyperllink....

Hi,
I've the same problem since 5.1 keynote. I needed to downgrade iWork to get back the full functionality.
Apple, is there any bugfix? We wait for it!

• Unwanted hyperlinks on websites I visit

Some of the websites I visit have random links embedded in words. "Search Assist" seems to be the culprit as every link has that name on it. I've scoured for a solution however everything I've found just mentions extensions and plug-ins, however I have no extensions or plug-ins. I even uninstalled firefox and rebooted my computer and the links are still there. I've run an anti-virus scan, checked for malware. Nothing works. The links are still there.
Any help would be appreciated.

I tried the "opt out" option. It didn't work. The hyperlinks appear on other sites.

• Keynote hyperlinking

I am crafting a rolling trivia presentation. I have a home slide that has hyperlinks to all of the categories of my trivia. Each category is a seperate keynote presentation that I advance through via the space bar. Is there a way to set up the category presentations, so that at the end, the final space bar stroke will hyperlink back to my categories page? Failing that, is there a better way for me to set up the Trivia while maitaining its ease of change?

Hyperlinks need objects to hold the hyperlink and you need to click on the object to activate the link - this means that just using the spacebar won't work, you will have to click on the object.
Try this: On the last slide in each subset Keynote file, create an object (a shape or image) - it can be invisible with no fill or border, and it can cover the entire slide if nothing else needs to be clicked on. Just be sure you know where the object is so you can click on it.
With the object selected, assign a hyperlink back to the Home Slide.
Note: Hyperlinks to other Keynote files can only link to the first slide of the file, so your use of a single Home Slide will work fine.

• Hyperlinks to websites not working in Notes

Why is it that a website hyperlink is highlighted in Notes, but when I click on it, nothing happens?

I'm not sure how some of the links in one of my notes were created.
My thinkng is that there are many applications that can make the determination that something that starts with http:// or https:// can be made to behave as a hyperlink
I do know that I did not purposely create a hyperlink and then paste it into my note.
Also, the only time that I receive the Open URL option in the services is when I select text. E.G if i have text in my Note like jguitar.com and I select the text and then choose Notes > Services, the Open URL option appears and the link will open. If I select the word jguitar all by itself/alone, the option doesn't appear, so the application can tell if it is a possible choice for opening a URL.
Something isn't quite adding up......

• Make datafield in datagrid a hyperlink to website

I makes an HTTPService request which returns data to a datagrid. One of the returned fields is a website (without the "http://www" and ".com" so basically just the guts ("mywebsite"). I want to make the datafield an active link but do not know where or how to do this.
THanks

You can Use A Renderer For that and can use Link Buttton as a component.
Sample code below: I have Hard coded URL you can use data.url from your HttpService result.
Application:::
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" backgroundColor="white" backgroundGradientColors="[0xFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFF]">
<mx:Script>import
mx.collections.ArrayCollection; [Bindable]
public
var myAC:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection([{firstName:"Prad",lastName:"Shek",url:"http://www.compassites.net"},{firstName:
"Alex",lastName:"Harui",url:"http://www.adobe.com"}]);

</mx:Script><mx:DataGrid id="dg" width="500" height="100" dataProvider="{myAC}"><mx:columns>
<mx:DataGridColumn
dataField="firstName" headerText="First Name"/><mx:DataGridColumn
dataField="lastName" headerText="Last Name"/><mx:DataGridColumn
headerText="URL" itemRenderer="LinkREnderer"/>
</mx:columns>
</mx:DataGrid>
</mx:Application>
Renderer::::
<mx:LinkButton
xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" label="Click On Me" click="navigateToURL(new URLRequest('http://www.compassites.net'))"/>
