Keynote Import Eror / Failure

I created a beautiful presentation in Keynote on my Mac and imported it into my iPad and had it working. Then I deleted it from my iPad, made some more changes on my Mac version and now when I try to import it into my iPad Keynote I get the error "Presentation couldn't be imported. Unknown import error". Any suggestions? I hate to lose all this work and not be able to use my iPad for the presentation.

The problem started when I added a text box onto a picture slide with content copied from Wikepedia. There is something embedded in the file now and deleting the text box or the slide does not fix it and I cannot import the presentation into Keynote on the iPad.

  • Is it possible to import the failure cases from another test plan in MTM ?

    Hi,
Is it possible to import the failure cases from another test plan? For example, I have created a new test plan with ID 1002. Now I want to import the failure cases from test plan with ID 1001.  Is there anyway to do this?
    Thanks,
    Leslu

    Hi Leslu,
As far as I know, there isn’t that feature in MTM, but we could achieve that by add test cases to the test suite.
As we know, the test case is associated to the test suite, remove the test case from the test suite won’t delete the test case, it just remove the relationship.
So, we could base on the test cases’ id to add the test cases to a test suite of another test plan.
    The condition is:
Work Item Type In Group Test Case Category
    ID In id1,id2 (e.g. 1,2,)

  • IPhoto import Browser failure, after security update?

Hi, Anyone else had this problem?
    iPhoto import Browser failure.
No Events or Albums show, although PhotoBooth is visible, error message 'Open iPhoto 5 or later to see photos...'
This used to work, but not since installing Security Update 2010-006 (1.0),
    with "iTunes" (10.0.1) and JavaForMacOSX10.6Update3.
    Using iPhoto '09 (8.1.2), iMovie '09 (8.0.6).
Heard mention that now only alpha-numeric characters are allowed for file names and titles, so started replacing "&", apostrophes, etc. But there are a LOT of photos to change!
    Console shows:
    [0x0-0x15015].com.apple.iPhoto[264]
    MRMovieServer[273] <Error>: kCGErrorFailure
Tried repairing permissions, but got a warning about a SUID file has been modified and will not be repaired, (not sure if this is relevant).
Removed com.apple.iApps.plist and com.apple.iMovie8.plist, which then gave a slightly different view of the browser in iMovie.
Can no longer drag items from iPhoto either!
Any ideas of how to proceed (and remain sane)?

    Hi,
I've had something like this, since October.
Firstly, In the Utilities folder, open Disk Utility, select the disk where the Applications are (Main hard disk) click First Aid, then "Repair Permissions". Leave it running with nothing else open.
When finished, open iMovie, click the photo browser icon, any luck?
Seen an Apple support doc 'Cannot see iPhoto in other Apps', basically you may be right about ampersands & apostrophes.
In iPhoto, look at all your smart album names for non-alpha-numeric characters, and replace or delete the possible culprits. I had lots of these, including brackets (which were not a problem until recently). Keep checking your smart albums to find others, such as these: !@£$%^&()[]{}'\"|~.
Quit iPhoto and all other iLife Apps, then in your home folder, Library, Preferences, move 'com.apple.iApps.plist' to the desktop (this will be recreated when you next open an iApp/iLife application, such as iPhoto).
You may need to remake the iPhoto AlbumData.xml file, after all that name editing. See later.
Open iMovie and click the photo browser icon, if you still get the message, rather than Albums and Events, Quit iMovie.
Open iPhoto, double check your source list for folders which you may have smart albums in, (click the triangle to the left of any folders that you've made to reveal their contents). Repeat the search and replace of special characters. I'd missed a few, hiding in folders.
Now would be a good time to remake the iPhoto 'AlbumData.xml' file.
Quit all applications, go to your Pictures folder, iPhoto Library, ctrl-click, 'Show package contents', drag 'AlbumData.xml' to the desktop.
    Close the finder windows.
Open iPhoto, create a new album, then Quit, (this should remake the xml file).
Open iMovie again and click the photo browser icon. This is the point where I had success, I hope it works for you as well.
    All the best, Ian

Hi all, I have .vcf contact file exported from yahoo and need to import it to cloud. When I try to import it I get an eror "53 contacts not imported, eror reading vCards". Pls help ty

1 - Select  the thumbnail of one of the problem photos and use the File ➙ Reveal in Finder ➙ Original menu option.  This will take you to the folder containing the original file with that file selected by the Finder.
You can also use Find Any File to search for that file (get the file name from the Info pane in iPhoto). You will find the thumbnail version and maybe an edited version also.  Made sure what is found is the large, original version and note were it's located.  Search all of your drives with FAF just in case.
If you don't fine the full sized version then the only recourse is to use a file recovery application like   SubrosaSoft FileSalvage on your drives to see if any of your full sized photos can be recovered.   If you find enough files to make the purchase of the software worthwhile buy it and recover the files.  However, since it may have been quite a while since you discovered the missing originals it seems unlikely you'll be able to recover any due to being overwritten.
2 - book projects are just entries in the library databases and can't be exported to another library.

  • Import File Failure, Help!

Hello, I am new to Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and thought i would start by working my way through the Adobe "Classroom In a Book" CS4.  I made a start through the early chapters then almost instantly hit a problem.  What ever I tried to import e.g. Panasonic P2, Still images below 4000x4000, .avi.  Basically all the material that was supplied on the Dvd that come with the book, I get the message "Import File Failure" "File Video Dimentions (Width/Height) Too Large".
I've tried restarting the computer but no luck, really gutted as I need to learn this program before next semester
I've also made sure my sequence sizes are the same size as my assets
I am running the Adobe Suite on a MacBook Pro 2.53GHz with Snow Leopard (10.6.4)
    Hope anyone can help
    Cheers

Try reading through the results of MY SEARCH to see if anything applies.  You may just need to uninstall CS4 and then reinstall it.

Alas I don't see that option — having said that I looked at mime types and legacy encoders and nada, but oddly when I went to check the QT version (7.6 by the way) in the "About Quicktime" (accessed via the *System Preferences*) it cycles thru various codecs and "Macromedia Flash Player" is one of them... guess it doesn't access anymore. :o(

  • Keynote Import slide transition timers

I was told to post here Re: Keynote Import slide transition timers
Can the transition times for a presentation can be inserted with automator  or can it be imported from a CSV sort of file.
The way I did this in Powerpoint was I created a static array with all slides timer I wanted, later looped through each slide and set the timer. can similar thing can be done in Keynote with applescript
Re: Keynote Import slide transition timers
    I also posted here, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/27495413/applescript-to-set-transition-timers
I got one example but that gives me errors.
    Thanks for your help

Here is the solution for people who care, i figured out a way with some help from stackexchange forum
    tell application "Keynote"
set ss to slides of document 1
set c to count of ss
        set timerlist to {5, 4, 3, 9, 6}
        set n to 1
        repeat until n > c
set timer to item n of timerlist
            set transition properties of item n of ss to {transition delay:timer, automatic transition:true, transition effect:no transition effect, transition duration:0.5}
            set n to n + 1
        end repeat
    end tell

  • No sound with Keynote imported video

My boss is planning to show a Keynote presentation from her iPad when she takes it overseas, but we've run into a weird problem.  I imported the video into Photos as per the approved way, and when I play it in Photos on the iPad, it has audio.  However, when I go into the Keynote presentation and add the video, there is no sound.  Does anyone know what's going on?  Clearly it's not a problem with the clip since it plays the audio in other apps on the iPad.

    Just to add to larryfromauckland's post . . .
If you find that moving the side switch does not work, make sure that switch is set to "mute" in your general settings rather than "lock rotation."  This is under the General settings tab about 2/3 the way down the page.  I tried this fix and it didn't work initially, then realized the setting for the side switch was set to "lock rotation" instead of "mute."  Once I swtiched it and made sure the switch was moved so that red dot was not showing, my audio worked just fine.
    Hope that helps.

  • Quicktime Export Settings for Keynote Import? Keynote freaks out 16:9 clips

I have 1440 x 1080i HDV footage imported into the latest FCP that is getting exported into Keynote. I notice that most of the exports and imports into Keynote end up doing weird stuff, like reducing the resolution, or turning it into a 4;3 format even though it is 16:9 on the export.
I don't care about the file size with Keynote, so I don't want to compress it any further than how HDV ruins footage to begin with.
So far the only thing that has worked is exporting it as a ProRes file.
Do any of you have recommendations on individual clip FCP export settings/workflows?
    Thanks!

Yes, the Keynote presentation slides/project is set for 1920x1080, the reason is I'm outputting via a high lumens projector that natively projects at 1920x1080p.
Even though a Macbook Pro does not have a screen that size, the Macbook can send out even larger than 1920x1080, but I am limiting the output to the native screen res of the projector.

  • Keynote import pngs wrong size

Keynote 6.1 inserts PNG images with transparency at 50% of the proper size.
This has caused me hours of frustration to figure out...  If there is no transparency, images import just fine.
    Anyone else have this issue?
    Gary

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/bs8td4f7y723f0t/close%402x.png   -- inserts at 26pt.
Insert [email protected], linked above, into Keynote 6.1 and it should insert at 26 pt instead of 52 pt.
However, insert [email protected], linked below, and it will insert correctly at 52pt.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/qcn5qq67nbrute5/expand%402x.png   -- inserts correctly, at 52pt.
Both are reported to be saved a the same dpi according to photoshop, and both images saved in the same manner within Photoshop as PNG.
I noted this issue doesn't seem to involve transparency.. that was a wrong assumption.  I can't see what is causing this discrepancy.
    Ideas?

  • Keynote import details

The iPhone5 with its fast processor and its 16:9 screen ratio turns out to be an excellent tool - together with a lightning to HDMI adapter and a HDMI cable - to bring a 1920x1080 Keynote presentation to an LCD or Plasma screen. The quality is truly amazing. I produce professional-grade Keynote presentations, so I believe I know the do's and dont's of the software pretty well. Yet, from time to time, when I export a presentation via iTunes to my iPhone5 I am getting a warning as soon as the import is finished. It says for instance that some image formats or certain media do not display on iOS or that a specific font is missing and that subsequently the text may look different. That's fine, I do appreciate this. However... that is all the info I get. It does not tell me which particular slides are - so to say - problematic. With a 200-slides presentation it can be quite difficult to track any specific issues/errors/problems. Is there a way to find out - whenever Keynote warns you about these compatibility issues - which slide, which slide number, needs to be checked?

There is no facility to provide specific details of errors in Keynote.
What you should do, is only use compatible objects and media in Keynote.

  • Keynote import trouble - anyone?

Keynote crashes during import of PowerPoint...help!!
My firm recently upgraded from Win2000 and an older Office version to WinXP and Office 2003, and now I can no longer open PowerPoint files in Keynote like I did before. I suspect (know) the Office upgrade has something to do with it, but I can´t find anything about this in the forum. Am I the only one having this problem? I´ve reported it to Apple, with no feedback so far.
As a Mac newbie, and a happy one until now, I would really appreciate if someone out there could share some of their wisdom on the subject.

  • Does Keynote Import Flash SWF Files?

    Hello,

  • PowerPoint Keynote import

I recently bought an iPad2. I have also purchased iWorks Keynote. I want to import some PowerPoint presentations to run on the iPad. I need to have touch points on the imported PowerPoint screens that will allow me to navigate to other screens in the presentation. It would also be nice to launch another application or link to internet site from a touch point (button). I can't find the resouces to create or enable these functions in Keynote. Can you point me at them?

Sure, you can download a zip file I created which contains two presentations from one of our products - one which Keynote happily translates, the other which Keynote chokes on as described above.
    http://www.hrwtechsupport.com/downloads/ppt-keynote.zip
You'll unzip to find two folders, each with a .ppt file within.
Unfortunately, reworking our previously published presentations into keynote format is cost-prohibitive to an obscene degree - we're talking hundreds, if not over a thousand, media-rich presentations. Ouch. Not to mention the distribution nightmares too.
Our fantasy is that Keynote will be patched to correct the issue. With our customers adopting Macs and Keynote by the truckload - sometimes tens of thousands of users at a time - they're led to believe (by Apple, not by us) that Keynote will work with PowerPoint presentations, as per Keynote's selling points, user guide, etc. But then, when Keynote doesn't play nice with the PowerPoint presentations published by us that they already own... uh oh.

  • Can Keynote import alpha or Key?

I want to key the background in a video and wonder if it is possible to import this into Keynote?
    Regards

Does your slideshow have animation in any of the slides? Are you using a unique transition between slides?
One way to get the slideshow into a MMe Gallery is to select all of the pages and do a Print ➙ PDF ➙ Save PDF to iPhoto. This will create a jpeg of each slide in the slideshow and import it into an iPhoto album. There you can create a MobileMe Gallery with those files.
Another is to export the slideshow as a QT movie file, import it into iPhoto and create a MMe gallery with that movie file.
