Keynote in stead of Apple Works

With my new I Mac i got this; Het AppleWorks-document 'KUNST bestand [v6.0].cwk' is geen presentatie. opening Key note, all my files are in Apple works, how can i translate this, or how can i download Apple Works, (I only find updates for Apple Works.

With your iMac, you have received a 30 day trial edition of iWork, of which Keynote is part. The other two applications in the iWork package are Pages, which should be able to open most of your AppleWorks word processing documents, and Numbers, which may be able to open AW spreadsheet documents.
See my recent post on a similar topic in this thread for details on how to open the file using Pages.
AppleWorks is no longer sold by Apple, but you can often find it on eBay. Version 6.2.4 is available from Hardcore Mac, and may be updated to 6.2.9 after installation.

When I downloaded Pages my Apple Works 6 now doesn't open.

    Hello,
are you sure that your documents are word processing documents ? Ie. older versions of Pages are normally able to open AppleWorks 6.0 word processing document while KeyNote can open AppleWorks 6.0 presentation documents ; but the newest version of Pages, i.e. Pages 5.0 is no longer able to open them...
If you have no success with Pages, you can also try to open them with the latest version of LibreOffice or you can take a look at http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/aw/page1.html to find other solutions...

  • Hi.Downloaded OSX Mavericks10.9.1. Won't run Apple Works 6.0, CanoScan Toolbox X, CNQL 3201.ButtonManager SUGGESTIONS

Hi.Downloaded OSX Mavericks 10.9.1.On start of install, say's won't run Apple Works 6.0, CanoScan Toolbox X, CNQL 3201.ButtonManager! Yes, I know AW6 is in dinosaur land (but I don't really want to have to convert 1000's of documents to Pages) and also don't want to ditch perfectly good Canon 9900F scanner. So, is there an update re software to keep both items running if I update from OSX10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) to the free update OSX10.9.1 (Mavericks) Suggestions Please? Ta Ian

Regarding AppleWorks - No. It will never run under Mavericks.
Pages will open most AW word processing documents.
Numbers will open most AW spreadsheets.
Keynote will open most AW presentations.
Your Canon scanner may work under Apple's Image Capture software, you'll have to test that.
    Best of luck.

  • How do I open Apple Works files?

After installing 10.7.2 I can't open my old Apple Works files anymore.

You can open AppleWorks 6 text documents with Pages; AW6 spreadsheet docs with Numbers; and AW6 presentations with Keynote.

  • I have some documents from apple works from OSX how can I convert them in Pages in OS Maverick? Thanks Harold

How can I convert documents from apple works to pages in OSX Mavericks? Harold

If you're using a version of Pages prior to 5.0, it can import AppleWorks 6 word processing documents directly. Otherwise, reopen them in AppleWorks and export them in a format that Pages can read; for Pages 5.0, those are listed here.

The iPad and related software is designed to sync with only one computer. I suggest transferring the photos from one of your iMacs to the other so that all photos are on one Mac. Same for all other files you want to sync over.
To get those AppleWorks files to the iPad you'll have to determine if Pages will open them. If it will then use the file sharing feature of iTunes to copy them to Pages on your pad.
If Pages will not open the AppleWorks files directly you'll have to save them in some format that Pages will read. These include but may not be limited to Pages and Word formats.

  • Apple Works 6 doesn't work with Lion...

I just downloaded Lion & now several "PowerPC" applications no longer work on my computer.  I never use Apple Works 6, except for my Christmas Card labels...and now I can't access them.  I have called into Apple Support - and they can't help me either.  They suggested that I find a 3rd party software by googling it to find a file converter...but I have had ZERO luck, everything I find is a download for a PC, not a Mac.
Can anyone help?  I can't open it in Excel (its a bunch of crap on my screen) & Numbers won't open it either...I'm rendered helpless...

When you say that your label data was kept in Appleworks was it kept in a database?
If so there is probably nothing that can open it under Lion.
I know when I did my migration from AW, all of my document I was able to open in Pages and all of my spreadsheet I was able to open in numbers.
The information I had in AW databse I had to export using AW and then I imported it to Bento. I did all of this before migrating to Lion.
If this information is that important to you, it may be necessary for you to run Snow Leopard again at least on a partition to get the data exported.

  • WHY DOES APPLE WORKS 6.2.9 NOT WORK?

I installed the original Apple Works 6.2 in my computer.
Now I want to update, but the updater that I've found on the Apple website just doesn't work.
Everytime I try to use it, I get this message: THE DEFAULT LOCATION REQUIRED FOR THIS INSTALL COULD NOT BE FOUND. THIS INSTALL WILL BE CANCELLED.
What can I do? I need the new version, because I have an important Apple Works document that was created with it, and it won't open with the old version that I have.

    Hello
It seems that you are trying to apply the wrong updater.
You must take care that there are two english AppleWorks 6, the US (continental) one and the International english one.
The updater must match the application version.
The best formula is to download the updater from this link:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120213
which give the ability to select the needed updater.
If you are not sure of which version you are using, run this short AppleScript while the app is running:
set version to version of application "AppleWorks 6" as string
display dialog "You are using AppleWorks " & version
with the US continental version it will display:
    "You are using AppleWorks 6.2"
with the International version it will display:
    "You are using AppleWorks Z-6.2"

  • How do I convert apple works 6 docs to open in 10.7

I have a MacBook pro running 10.7. I have many docs created in AW 6 that will no longer open. I tried opening the WP with Pages and the spread sheets with Numbers, but I get a message that "This document was created with an unsupported version of Apple works." I can't open any of the drawing docs at all. What should I do short of firing up my old Mac Mini and saving them all as .doc or .xls versions.
    Thanks, Ed

Another option: Run Appleworks 6 in Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) installed into Parallels in Lion:

  • Can I extract images from Apple Works?

    Hi!
I am a graphic designer. A client just sent me a disk of artwork, which turned out to be a single Apple Works file with a dozen high-resolution images in it. Is there a simple way to extract those images (for use in other applications such as Photoshop) at their original resolution?
I know all the data is in there, since the file weighs in at about 90mb. But I can't drag-and-drop to the desktop, and cutting/pasting seems to give me reduced-sized images. (In other words, if a photo is 4" x 3" in the AppleWorks document, I get a 4" x 3" 72dpi image when I paste into Photoshop. )
edit > picture info does show me the total size of the image, and lets me know which are high-rez. I can click on "show picture bounds" and the image expands to full size, cropped only by the page. However, I cannot cut-and-past that image into PhotoShop... Apple Works doesn't seem to let me copy it at all.
It would make my day if there turns out to be a simple command or program that could just pull out all embedded images.
    Thanks!

It's not clear, but do you have AppleWorks that you are opening this document with? If so, open the file, I assume it's an AppleWorks draw document, & Save As… PICT (choose it from the File Format drop-down menu). You could do it as one big image & then crop in Photoshop or copy & paste each image into to a blank AppleWorks draw document & Save As… each one as an individual PICT file.
PICT is the preferred graphics format for AppleWorks. Any images imported into AppleWorks other than PICT are changed to 72 dpi where PICT retains the native resolution. Exporting/saving as PICT also seems to result in better images. Of course, if the original images weren't PICT when they were put into the AppleWorks file, you're not going to be able to improve them any more.

  • I transfered my iWork '09 to my new Mac Air. Now my Keynote won't open. I get message, "An unexpected error has occurred, please quit and reopen Keynote." This doesn't work.

I transfered my iWork '09 to my new Mac Air. Now my Keynote won't open. I get message, "An unexpected error has occurred, please quit and reopen Keynote." This doesn't work.

so Keynote still isnt working after installing, I thought you had it sorted from your last post.
If you have not done so remove any files relating to iWork and Keynote and reinstall iWork
    files that must go are:
    the iWork ’09 folder from the main HD > Applications;
the iWork ’09 folder in HD > Library > Application Support
the individual iWork application plist files found in HD > Users > (your account) > Library >
There are a number of free application removal tools  that will do this for you:

  • Double click on .doc file opens Apple Works not Word 98

I'm using Tiger on a 14" iBook. I have Office 98 installed which works OK running under the classic environment.
Only thing is, I can't get it to start when I double click on a .doc file.
I've been thru all the recommended stuff, select the file, "get info", change the application etc... Whatever I try, it just reverts to Apple Works. When I double click the .doc file, I get Apple Works instead of MS Word.
Has any one got any ideas? Is this because Word 98 runs under Classic?
Also, I can open a word (.doc) document by dragging it onto the dock icon for MS Word 98. But if I try the same with an Excel spreadsheet,(dragging it onto the excel icon) it doesn't work. Tiger doesn't seem to like the .xls extension. Was this extension used for something else?

This document talks about applications which may use XLS:
    http://filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=XLS
If it was used as a Microsoft Works document, you may need to convert it to Excel first.
Not sure if Excel handles Works documents, but Appleworks does to a limited extent, and Maclinkplus by http://www.dataviz.com/ will better allow you to be able to handle files of unknown type that are spreadsheets.
To change the application a document opens under control-mouse click a document with that extension and select Open With. Select the Other... and find the application in the dialog to open with, and check "Always Open With" if you want to open all documents with that extension with a specific application.

  • Is Apple working on?

Is Apple working on the ability to download applications onto your IPhone? Hackers made Jailbreak but I want an authorized Apple version that doesn't void my warranty.

They're releasing a software developer's kit in Feburary - you should see more applications after that.
    Cheers!

  • How do i email apple works 6.2.9 spreadsheets, how do i email apple works 6.2.9 spreadsheets

How do i email appleworks 6.2.9 spreadsheets in a PDF tupw format without getting a jumble of text?

If you have the iWork application Numbers you can open and use AW 6.2.9 spread sheets and save in this format. Or you can export the ss opened in Numbers as PDF, Excel, or CSV. I don't know about Excel or CSV but the PDF is a fixed picture and will not allow functions.
I have just tested a newly created AW 6.2.9 SS doc with my G4 PowerBook (OS X 10.5.8). I opened and saved the new AW 6.2.9 SS in iWork 09 Numbers native format then emailed this to myself. I opened the email with my MacBook Pro (MId 2010 OS X 10.7.4,) and saved the SS Doc to the desktop. It opened with a double click in  iWork 09 Numbers and was fully functional.
What I have done with my Claris Works and Apple Works ss docs is convert all to numbers which maintains the ability to alter and copy the data. Getting the Claris Works docs converted required an older version of Apple works that will read them and allow the saves to be read by v6.2.9.
