I've embedded a video into keynote and everything works fine until I export as html. When I few in a browser my movie now appears off the page.

Poor resolution for Keynote .mov file

Hello,
Just getting started with Keynote. I'm putting together courseware and will be using Keynote to support the presentation. I have several .mov clips I need to integrate into the presentation. I embedded a .mov file into a Keynote slide and then saved and exported the Keynote file by SHARE > EXPORT > Formats: Web Movie, Small.
While I'm getting the media to work, the resolution of the Keynote .mov file is very grainy.
Are there some settings to be aware of to get a clear resolution with a Keynote .mov file?

You've probably picked the lowest settings and therefor the lowest resolution!
If you go to the export menu and chose a higher setting or even tinker the custom settings to get the balance of file size / quality you want.
It may also be worth making the slide size smaller (in the inspector)so when you export it's not being downsized in the same way if you need a smaller video (height, width, not file size)

Keynote movies stutter badly once exported to QuickTime

My Keynote presentation features a 2 minute movie. When I export the presentation to QuickTime, although the slides work fine, the movie stutters badly. To be specific, the movie audio is fine, but the visuals stutter badly.
Any workaround for this? Thanks!

I've been having problems in iMovie and Quicktime both. Whenever I used a song from iTunes in an iMovie, I would get stuttered playback. Many others experienced problems with stuttering video when they had extracted audio. Your particular problem could be many things. It could be your graphics card is too small to handle this. If you are running OS X tiger and have virex installed, then virex is using most of your CPU processing power (Do a search on Tiger and Virex to get the uninstaller). Finally you could be having problems with quicktime 7.0.3. If that is the case, then you can just reinstall 7.0.1 and everything should work fine. Or it could be something else. Hope some of this helps.

Keynote Movie Export with Manual Advance doesn't work posted on MobileMe

Hi,
After exporting a Keynote Presentation to Quicktime with Manual Advance function checked the Manual Advance function is working perfectly.
However, after I post the same Quicktime movie on my Mobile Me gallery (or a webpage via iWeb) the Manual Advance only works on slide 1 taking it to slide 2.
When I click to advance at slide 2 it returns to slide 1 instead of going to slide 3...
Any suggestions appreciated.

This could be the old bug that causes this if the movie wasn't fully loaded. Try waiting till the movie fully loads (if it's not showing a progress bar, just wait a few min as it will probably load fully in that time). Then try it again. In my tests with older versions (haven't tested 09) this was the case...clicking on anything before the movie fully loaded sent you back to slide 1.

No Sound On Exported Keynote Movies

When I export recorded presentations as movies they come through with no sound. The presentation plays normally with the correct recorded timing but there is no narration. I know the narration got recorded because I can play it back in Keynote and hear it. Just not when I export it.
I have spent a lot of time on the phone with AppleCare and gone through all the trouble shooting they advised and still no sound. Does anyone have any suggestions? This is a very important feature for me to be able to use. Any alternatives to Keynote's built in export function for producing movies from the recorded presentations?

Thereby keeping us on the full price upgrade treadmill (O) At least you can sat it represents feature improvements for the money – unlike so many other software non-free upgrades to get major bug fixes like the dreadful Bento.
I think a major feature request, Precision placement of end positioning for builds is kind of included by way of Magic Moves or whatever they are calling it but it's only between slides. Still implies numeric control of position which could be a BIG improvement on zooming in, fudging around by hand only to lose control of the object as it disappears behind its start image. It's kind of like a feature I requested, duplicate slide with objects in end positions (as a easy fix) but better in that the end position can be modified and Keynote calculates the adjustment to move, rotate etc.

Next Slide/Slide Transition in Full Screen on my Keynote Movie

I hope you can help? I have been using Keynote to prepare some slides for a talk I am delivering and to ensure I have no 'technical mishaps' I need to have a copy of the Keynote in a .mov format so that it can be played in Quicktime on a Mac or a PC.
I have exported the Keynote to Quicktime which works brilliantly on my Mac and on the PC when you view it in the Normal View. You can use the left/right arrows on the keyboard to move forward and backwards through your slides and use the mouse to access the hyperlinks. The problem occurs when I enter Full Screen View (which will be necessary when I deliver this talk!) - although a mouse click moves the slides on I cannot find any way of moving back a slide, or of accessing my hyperlinks.

Do you have the PDF version to fill the full screen and not leave borders? If you print to PDF (not create PDF), then a margin is added by default (as when you print to paper). The border can be reduced to 0, but that is an extra step with the print. As I recall, the PDF Maker (create PDF) does not include the margins. Thus the whole margin bit may be the issue.

Keynote movie exposure

Can I modify the exposure of movies in keynote 6.1?
As I see, the exposure can be adjusted in case of images, but if a movie is too dark, can it be corrected somehow? The imovie-adjust-export routine is a no go, cause i have a square format movies, and imovie cannot export square movies (I end up with correct exposure level, but with 2 black bars on the side of the movie).

You can change brightness contrast and colour.
Download and install MPEG Streamclip
open and drag the video file into the main window
File > export to Quicktime
compression: H264
adjustments: change brightness, contrast, saturation, click OK then Preview
change the settings if required

Flash movie / HTML query

Novice desperately seeking help with seeming inability to get
SWF movie to loop or not autoplay. HTML page generated using Flash
CS3. No matter what settings are tried, the behaviour is the same:
the movie starts immediately the page is viewed and plays only
once. I'd like to be able to either loop the movie or load the page
and not play the movie automatically. Would be great to know what
has been done wrong. I've included the HTML code below:

If I'm reading you correctly, I think that what you want is a lightbox type of effect where the Flash movie appears from out of nowhere above a dimmed page. If this is the case then you need to use Javascript to create this dynamic html effect. I use mediabox advanced. It works with Mootools. You can find more info here: http://code.google.com/mediabox/

What does this error message mean? Keynote to html to Homepage

Trying to "add page" in homepage of my Keynote 3 exported html slideshow. However, after various attempts I keep getting this error from the .Mac server
HomePage found the following issues with the HTML page you chose. Please fix these issues and try again: The "< BODY ... " tag is not closed properly with a matching ">".
Is this a known issue? What does it mean? Can I go into the code window and fix it? If yes, how?

OK, I'll try: it means that there's a missing directory record; that is, there's an item in the directory pointing to a record that doesn't exist. What else can I tell you? All such errors need repairing.

Keynote to HTML

Hi Guys,
I hope that there is some technical wizard on here that is able to answer my question.
I am trying to generate a newsletter that I can send out as an email. I have created this in Keynote, which I can then save as HTML and then view this in Safari.
From there, I can then choose to send the contents of the page to an email and mail this out.
The problem I have is that there are 3 hyperlinks within the Keynote slide that link to our website and email and once this is converted to HTML to view in Safari, the hyperlinks don't work.
I have set them in Keynote as hyperlinks with links to website and links to email but still not working once in HTML.
Does anyone have any ideas, please?

Try resetting Keynote; perform all the steps in the order listed:
remove Keynote version 6.5, you must use an application removal tool for this procedure to work:
Appcleaner is free, I use Appzapper
empty the trash
shut Down the Mac (Apple menu > Shut Down)
wait 10 seconds, then press the power button
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold down the Shift key,
release the Shift key when you see the grey Apple screen
start up will take a few minutes longer than usual as the Mac is performing a software repair
restart the Mac normally, (don’t hold down any keys during startup)
install Keynote from the Mac App Store

Keynote movie help

i was wondering if u could insert a .mov file on a slide in keynote play the movie and keep it playing while you play through the slides?

Not sure if this would work, but a suggestion.
Instead of running the "base audio" from inside Keynote, start your audio (timed appropriately) from iTunes. Run the Keynote with the individual audio tracks as needed.
The tricky part here would be the ducking. Maybe (a long shot here) you could install Audio Hijack which allows you to add effects to different audio streams in realtime (among other features) and using the free VST plugin Sidechain/Ducking (http://freemusicsoftware.org/category/free-vst-effects-2/sidechains) you could the base audio duck using this method. Never tried this but could be something for you to look into.

Keynote + movies - burn to dvd

Hi all,
I have a Keynote presentation that includes QT movies on some of the slides.
My first problem was to launch a transition only after the movie was played, which I solved by timing the video and asking keynote to do the transition after that time (I found that solution a little weird.. I wished I could just say "do transition after movie is played, but welll...)
Anyhow, I wish to transfer the presentation onto dvd. When I export to iDVD or QT, the options presented only allow me to set the same time between transition for ALL the slides, which bothers me a lot, for obvious reasons.
Any bright ideas to help me solve that problem ?
I'm starting to wonder whether I have to move to DVD SP and redo my whole thing with scripts and slides and movies (imagine my excitement)....
Help would be greatly appreciated since I need this project ot be done by next Wednesday...

You can playback on the computer, an iPod or Apple TV or back up to a hard drive, CD etc.
But making a DVD (like you think of renting from Blockbuster) against the rules (though a bit unclear since you can back up your purchases)

RUNNING A KEYNOTE MOVIE ON A PC

My client has been specific and wants to run a 7min presentation on PC's that do not have Quicktime installed. We have managed to convert the Movie to a Windows Media File using the Bink suite of tools, but it is large (from 190Mb to 650Mb) and lacking the sound.
Any ideas?

You might try converting using the Flip4Mac Studio (US$49). I've used it to go the other direction, WMV to MOV, and it works fine.
Also, depending on the dimensions of your video, I wouldn't be surprised at the file sizes you give -- a 7 minute presentation can be quite large if the dimensions are big and the compression is relatively light. (I think the higher-end Flip4Mac products allow you to customize the compression, but if you don't want to spring for those, you can always re-compress the orginal movie in QTPro, or ffmpegX, which is free (but requires a bit of tinkering).

bwfromspring Hill has had a good idea, I know of your expertise in the field of computer, but if it is not too difficult you could try to write in HTML, or export it in other ways, I do not know what would be helpful but if you try iwork.com to put it onand then download it on PC you use or submit it directly from them. could be a less complicated.
the fact that IE does not open pages written in HTML is worrying!

Movie imported from Keynote gets much bigger in GB

I recorded a simple presentation in Keynote and exported it to a .mov file (800x600, 13 mintues, only 10 Mb).
Then I imported it in Garage Band. Just added a short jingle at the begining, in the middle and at the end (I would have add them in QuickTime Pro, but I wanted to adjust them more precisely).
The .mov file I finally exported from Garage Band is 75 Mb in size ! But the jingles I added should be hardly 1 Mb !
Do you think, there a way to preserve the slim size of my original Keynote .mov file ?

Well, you don't jump into the deep end of the pool after having just downloaded AE... that's for sure! People have tried it, and people have failed miserably, enduring endless hours of frustration by thinking to themselves, "how tough can this stuff be?".
On the other hand, people who have recognized that AE is a "learn to walk before you run" kind of application and have started here...
