Keynote / Photoshop Elements 3.0 conflict

Since I moved to Mac OS X (10.4.3), it's impossible to open a document in photoshop if keynote is loaded.
In fact some of the photoshop's menu items are unvailable and can't be selected like close file open, new.
So, it's impossible to exit photoshop from the menu the only way is to exit from the dock.
If I close keynote and try to reload photoshop the problem persists. The only way to make it work properly is to reboot the Imac.
If I don't use Keynote, Photoshop work fine.
Does someone has improved this problem ?

Hi,
My answer is not going to be very helpful I am afraid.
I have just tried Keynote (v2.0.2) and Elements (v3.0) together on my PowerBook using 10.4.3 which has 1.25Gb RAM. Everything worked fine.
Have you any other programs running in the background?
How much memory do you have?
How much have you allocated to Elements?
Cheers,
Andrew

  • Why couldn't I finish install Photoshop Elements 11 due to conflicting processes running?

On my iMac7,1 running Mac OS X 10.8.3, I have installed Photoshop Elements 10 and Premiere Elements 10.  I bought Photoshop Elements 11 (& Premiere Elements 11) at a retail store and began installing Photoshop Elements 11 from the DVD from the retail store.  The install software accepted the Photoshop Elements 11 serial number that found on the DVD packaging and entered at the prompt, but then I could not continue the install due to 3 processes that the install said were running.  I had previously shut off my virus protection software and could only see one application, other than the installer, running (iClock), so I was puzzled how to shut down these 3 processes:
    ElementsAutoAnalyzer
    PhotoshopServer
    dynamiclinkmanager
I suppose I could have gone to the Activity Monitor.app to see if they showed up running there, but that seems pretty extreme for a simple install of a standard appication like Photoshop Elements ... so I went to Adobe chat support and explained the problem in some detail.  The support professional told me that this problem was beyond his expertise and suggested I call the phone support service.  Does anyone know what I did wrong?
Here is the error message that I got when I quit the install:
    Installation Status
    Installation was cancelled
    Exit Code: 24

Extreme or not, activity monitor is the place to stop them. I would also go to the organizer preferences>media analysis and put a final stop to the auto analyzer unless for some reason you want PSE to pass judgment on your photos.

  • Any conflicts with Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 for MAC

does anyone use Photoshop Elements to do there editing externally and if so did they encounter a change in the photo file extensions in Bridge from ".jpg" to ".approject" and the ability to open within photoshop

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You can use PSE from within iPhoto as the editor of choice by selecting it in iPhoto's General preference pane under theEdit photo menu. Here are some tips on how to:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds

  • Photoshop Element 13  (Organizer cannot load properly  conflict in loading Catalog

i Have installed the trial version of photoshop element 13 on Windows 8.2 64 bitts version with lots of memory available. The pse 13 worked fine until catalog size increased to 23 GIgabytes.
    Then system froze.
Finally I purchase a full version hoping to cure the problem however the installation resulted in reloading the trial version with validation code given.
The purchased version has the same problem and does not operate.
It has to be noted that the editor works but as soon as I try to use the organizer the system fails. All the previous catalogues configured for PSE 13 had been removed to prevent the error.
Any clue? Help would be appreciated.
    Jacques Lefebvre

    Hi,
Please try out the following steps and see if it helps:
    1. While launching Organizer, keep Shift Key pressed.
    2. This will launch Catalog Manager dialog > Go for creating a New catalog
    3. Now if organizer launches, open preferences  (Ctrl+K) > Go to Files tab
    4. Uncheck following check boxes:
Automatically Search for and Reconnect missing files
Automatically generate thumbnails for video files
    5. Go to Media Analysis tab and un-check all the check boxes present there.
If organizer work fine, please switch to your older catalog.
Let us know if it helps.
    Thanks,

  • Installing Adobe Photoshop Elements Causes My Computer to Cut Out on Booting UP!

I have installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 on my new computer running windows 7 64 bit. I did not appreciate the problems. The first time that I installed it the computer shut down as soon as it was loaded and from then onwards it shut down within seconds of the computer booting up into windows. I used system restore to take the computer back to before Elements 10 was installed. The computer kept on switching off after windows had booted up. Took it into the technician who thought the PSU was at fault and he put in a new unit. The computer then worked fine until I installed Elements 10 and again the computer switches off as soon as windows as booted up. I have again used system restore to take the computer back to before Elements 10 was installed, still it switches off shortly after booting into windows. What can I do to get things to work properly?  I have a brand new computer that I am unable to use as a result of installing Elements 10. I am typing this on my old computer running Vista 34 bit with Elements 10 installed and all working well. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I have had a similar experience - Elements organizer crashed and even when not running, my computer froze after a few minutes.  My PC had never crashed before this installation.
    I found a solution though...
After a little sleuthing using task manager, I found that all the memory in my system (4GB) gets suddenly hogged (within seconds) by the "Elements Organizer" process (3GB) ... I found the service correspponding to this process, "Adobe Active File Monitor v10", stopped it and set autostart to manual.  My PC no longer crashes.
I think Adobe needs to look into this one - it has all the hallmarks of a nasty memory leak.
A couple of possible clues as to why certain systems don't take well to this service:
    - I have a few very large video clips (2hours+) on my PC
    - I installed trial products like light room, CS5 before settling on Photoshop+Premiere Elements - could leftovers after uninstalling cause conflicts?
    - I have other video editors on my system that I don't use, like Corel VideoStudio and Sony Vegas.
    Thoughts?

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 freezes on startup

    Hi,
I am having issues with Adobe Photoshop Elements 10, When I first load the software, it asks me if I want to use the "Organize" or the "Edit". When I choose "Edit", it loads the program, but I am unable to click on any options or toolbars as it freezes for around 3 minutes (says not responding) until it eventually kicks in and loads, I am then able to use the software perfectly.
On startup, is it trying to run updates or talk to Adobe for any reason, and can I turn this off?
Also, has anyone had the same problem? Help would be appreciated!
    Thanks
    Ian

OK let’s deal with the Editor. The editor saved prefs often get corrupted. You may need to rebuild the editor preferences to resolve any conflicts.
Hold down the Ctrl+Shift+Alt keys and simultaneously click on the Edit button on the welcome screen. Release the three keys and look behind the welcome screen by closing it. Or hold down the keys whilst double clicking on the desktop icon for PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe
You should see a pop up box with the words: Delete Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings File?
    Click on Yes
Wait whilst it rebuilds the preferences.

I have tried to download Photoshop Elements 10 three times now and it has crashed every time.  I checked my settings and the format on my computer is Max OS Extended.  I read that 3 other people were having the same problem.  Did anyone figure out how to fix this or does Photoshop Elements not run on Mac OS X?

  • Photoshop Elements 8.0 won't open, keep getting an Error message from windows

I am running Windows Vista on a toshiba laptop and I've owned the software for a little over a year now, everything was working quite fine the usual few crashes every once and a while. Though I had thought to myself oh well here it's time for some new photoshop brushes and fonts. So I went to sites such as Dafont.com and Deviantart.com to get brushes and fonts. Installed them all and tired to open up photoshop Elements afterwards and I kept getting an error message as shown in the picture.
Any help would be appericated, Also added information  that may help, Yes I have tired removing the brushes out of the folder and running the program, and yes I have tried removing the fonts I installed. Neither worked. I also have not Restarted my laptop computer since I had installed that brushes/fonts.
    Thank you for looking/reading/answering!
    Have a nice day. (:

    Hi,
Please try couple of probable solutions as mentioned below:
    Solution 1:
    1. Close Elements.
    2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
    3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
Solution 3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
    Solution 4:
On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go  to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements  10\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain  plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere  else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works.

  • PhotoShop Elements 6 for Mac under Snow Leopard?

Hi. Apple's new operating system for Mac, Snow Leopard is being released tomorrow.
According to the Snow Leopard wiki, Photoshop Elements 6 does not work under Snow Leopard:
    http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/
I contacted Adobe to ask if they had any plans to update Photoshop Elements 6 to work with Snow Leopard.  The response I got from their support was that Adobe Photoshop Elements was programmed before Snow Leopard and so they weren't responsible if it didn't work.
I am pissed because of course Photoshop Elements was programmed before Snow Leopard.  EVERY software program was. Most of my software (and I have a lot of apps) are being updated for Snow Leopard by their developers.
I'm writing this post just to make sure that Photoshop Elements doesn't work under Snow Leopard. It's possible whoever posted that Photoshop Elements didn't work under Snow Leopard could have been having an isolated problem.
So, if anyone tries Photoshop Elements with Snow Leopard, please post here whether or not it works.
    Thanks a lot.
    Mirskyman

No, there are no significant known conflicts with Snow Leopard, so that's not your problem. Have you deleted prefs since the upgrade? Was this an upgrade in place rather than an erase install? If so, go to your username>library>preferences and delete:
    com.adobe.Photoshop.Elements.plist
Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 Paths Folder
Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 Settings Folder
    Opera preferences
repair permissions and see if it's any better. Do you have any third party content installed in PSE? There may well be conflicts with that, if so.

  • Photoshop elements 8 under windows 7 "open with" cannot link editor

    Hello,

  • Iphoto 09 compatibility with Photoshop Elements 10?

I've recently upgraded from Photoshop Elements 8 to PSE 10. I'm using iphoto 09. (after all I've read I'm kind of worried about upgrading to iphoto11) While I've set my external editor in iphoto to PSE 10, the photo I choose to edit doesn't open in PSE 10. I'm getting really frustrated. Does anyone know of any conflicts between the 2? Could it be an issue with Lion? Any ideas/comments/suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

Thanks Keith, I see you understand Exactly what's going on. I tried to choose (in iPhoto Preferences) the support" file but am unable to access it from there. Is that where you meant for me to choose it? I can find it through the Finder but don't know how to get it in iPhoto. I also noticed that Elements 10 isin a folder called MacOs- maybe it's in the wrong folder?
So glad someone actually understands the problem! Need more help though! Thx.

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 has stopped working... how can I make it work?

Hi.  I have just bought a new copy of Photoshop Element 9.  It installed OK, but when I try to open the Editor, I get the message "Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem", followed shortly by the message "Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".  The only option then is Close Program.  The Organizer has the same problem.
Does anyone know how to get it to work?  It hasn't just stopped working, it has never worked at all.  If anyone at Adobe are monitoring this thread, please can you tell me what the problem is and how to sort it out?  I tried the Adobe call-back service but all I got was a computer phoning me up, and no person available.

  • Issues with Photoshop Elements 12

I am already using Photoshop CS6 and was informed that I can also purchase and install Photoshop Elements 12 on the same PC (Windows 7).
This I have now done but after some installation issues I am now experiencing a problem with the camera raw part of Elements. I am receiving an error message when I try and send the edited raw file to the main Elements program. The strange part is that if I open the same raw file again in Elements camera raw and try transfering again it works OK. Can there be a conflict somewhere?

    Hi,
Could you tell if you are facing this issue with Elements Organizer or Editor?
    For Editor not launching,
If on Windows, could you follow the steps shared at: Photoshop Elements (PSE) knowledge base.
For MAC, Photoshop Elements (PSE) knowledge base.
    For Organizer not launching,
For Windows, Photoshop Elements (PSE) knowledge base.

  • Photoshop Elements 6 and the XML for content type = frame

    Hello.
I am working with XML files in Photoshop Elements 6.  I am trying to understand the structure for , frames, in the artwork palette.  These XML files are more complex than others so where can I get an explanation of this and other content types.
    Thank you
    David J. Krassen

I have Leopard and PE6 and had no difficulty installing it. The only problem was with 'Bridge', which turned out to be a conflict with a file installed by the 'Opera' browser:
    Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Opera/Widgets/widgets.dat
If you have been using Opera you should remove this and note that if you run Opera again it will reinstall it. Earlier versions of Opera are OK. The presence of this file caused Bridge to hang when selecting 'Home'.
Since removing that file I have had no problems whatever with PE6.
