Keynote refuses to link when hyperlinking from text to keynote file

I can get hyperlinks from shapes to link, but text links won't link. Suggestions?

The linking should be the same. Are you able to even add a hyperlink to the text or does the hyperlink just not work when you play it back? If you are able to highlight the text and add the hyperlink, does it underline the text afterwards?

Depending on the system version, and Office Word version:
- a pure URL link starting with http or even www sometimes works in PDF, either produced by Aperçu or Adobe, sometimes does not work;
- other kind of links where the text under display is not a URL, never work!
I like everything with Apple computers and software, except PDF generation. Output files are usually bigger in size, and no better quality, than under Windows. Furthermore, it is weird that something as common as hyperlinks does not work correctly!
I related this question with Mac OS X Snow Leopard, but the problem is still there with Mac OS Lion.
This problem seems to have been around for years, without any proper solution from Apple and/or Adobe! To me, this is very embarrassing!

If I understand the problem correctly (I’m not sure I do) you would prefer ‘iii’ to be read as “eye eye eye” rather than “three”? The alt text property is the only way that I know of to make this happen. Hope this helps.

How can I enable the ability to create links when editing site text in BC?

I am about to launch my first BC site for a client. I built the site using Muse. The client needs to update text and pics on their own using BC, which is fine, but when editing text, they are unable to create a link to another page. How can I enable the ability to create links when editing site text in BC? I can apparently do this in this post, but I don't see a way to do this for their site.

Grid control should be used if you have multiple dbs to manage.
But if you still want to install dbconsole, you can use dbca as already mentioned. it's much easier to do that using dbca.
With the manual method, you create the repository via emca -repos create.
Then you configure it using emca -config dbcontrol db. This will ask for sys passwords, ports setting etc...

There is an option in your Lightroom preferences on the General tab, "Treat JPEG files next to raw files as separate images". If you have that option checked then Lightroom will import and display both your raw and JPEG files. Are you using active D-lighting on your camera? If you are then you need to turn off that feature.

Create link when retreive from database

Hi, I created database called "Homepage", and i created table
called "homenews" inside of "homepage" database.
I also created two column which is "News_Name" and
"News_URL".
I use dreamweaver and is works great when i retreive from
databse, but i want to change to have link, let say first colmn for
"news_name i put cnn, and second colmn for News_URL i put
www.cnn.com, my question is that how i can write php code to create
url link of "www.cnn.com" on the text called "cnn" when retreive
from database!
is this is correct code!

What errors are you getting?
For the looks of your code, if you have www.cnn.com in the
News_URL column, then the link you're generating will not go to
CNN. You need to include the
http:// as part of your link. Even though you
can copy and paste www.cnn.com into the browser and go to the
correct place, if it is used as a link in a page, then it has to
have the
http:// to go to be able to leave the current
site and go to the correct place.

Images not appearing on slide when converted from Powerpoint to Keynote

My Pastor's Powerpoint slides converted nicely to Keynote except 2 pictures at the top of one slide. He saved just that slide as a separate ppt file and I could see the images in the thumbnail, but they're gone when it's opened in Keynote. I'm thinking a layering problem, but I'm new to iMac and Keynote. Any suggestions?

I have (again) requested my IT dept to take a look at what is going on.
If they cannt/wont help, then I may well take up Rick's very kind offer.
The more I think about it, the more I believe my problem(s) stem from having to link up to Adobe when working on-line.
It takes about 30 seconds from the time I open the initial Captivate start screen (attached) before any of the links become active.
That strikes me as way too long and might be the cause of the problem.
Any idea if this "link to Adobe" can to turned off? What do I need the link for anyway...day to day?

Extra/Notes/ linking to video from Text files

With this new build release January 10 2006, I was wondering if the Notes engine found in the iPod Video had been updated to support "links to video files" from text files in Notes.
If yes, what is the tag?

Looks like the Notes engine released when the iPod Video was shipped in October 2005 did not have any built-in support to link assets such as Images and Video.
Apple would need to add tags to support video and image linking in the Notes engine.
Does anyone knows when we should expect this fix to happen?

Bug when converting from text to date

Hello Guys,
I have a table with about 700 rows and the first column is for date.
Most rows correctly have the cell content as date, but some rows show it as text, and even when I try to change it to date, nothing happens. It sticks as text.
Main problem is I can't sort correctly of even do calculations.
For me it really seems to be a bug.
The only solution I see is to create a new column to convert the values with formula, but this is a shame to need to do this to workaround such simple bug.

Here's the cell that came from text file exactly like the next one. After setting as date in the format panel, it stays as expected:
The row below came from another paste from the same text file, but it insists on not becoming date:
After setting date, and leaving the cell selection, it goes back to "Automatic".
In the bar at the bottom, it is shown as "Text".
I have already tried to select the entire column and set as Date, and also to do it individually, but only some are converted. Other stays as Texts.

Yes it's slow in Mavericks, not in other OS versions.
The software is only weeks old so there are many issues with both products.

Why do I get scratchlike glitches when exporting from ai to psd files?

When I Export from ai to psd files, there are occasional horizontal dashes---one pixel high---of blank pixels. See an example:

Messages: Broken links when sending from Mac to iOS

If I copy a link from Safari (right-click > Copy link) and send it with Messages on Mac it remains a clickable link with a link text (in the chat window).
The problem is if the recipient uses Messages on iOS he will only see the link text and cannot click on the link.
Is there a solution to this annoying bug?
The workaround I use is:
Copy the link from the clipboard into the chat input box. BEFORE sending rightclick on the link > "Copy link" and then insert from the clipboard again. This way you get the URL of the link which is always clickable (on Mac AND iOS).

Over the years the various messaging services that there are have all done things related to sending Links with words as Hyperlinks.
The AIM service in particular had a very bad time with people putting malicious code in the link instead of just the URL.
The matter can be confused when some URLs are very long such as News websites and the like.
I use the same workaround as you (Send plain text URLs)

How to create a hyperlink from text within a rollover caption

Hello,
I have a rollover caption that appears when the learner rolls
over a topic category (text caption). Within the contents the
rollover caption that appears I would like to provide an active
link to a website that is refered in specific rollover caption.
There are several rollover captions and associated hotshops, but
only ONE needs an active link.
Play control for the whole project is controlled by a NEXT
button, so the project is paused until it is clicked.
It doesn't seems like Captivate allows you to select text and
then link it - you have a set up a click box or button. I don't
understand how I could use these objects without them appearing all
the time. I only want the link to appear in ONE rollover caption.
Does anybody know how I might be able to acheive this
functionality?

IPod Mini refuses to sleep when unplugged from power

Hello, I have a problem with the Sleep function in my Mini. The whole of the context is as follows:
After a period of inactivity (two weeks approx.) I wanted to use my Mini. However, after rousing it from sleep, it immediately froze. When it did respond, any input from the wheel, the buttons or the Hold switch would take up to a minute to be registered on the display. Resetting (toggle Hold, press and hold "Menu" + "Select") did nothing to solve the issue, either plugged or unplugged from the PC or the power adapter. Thinking this might be a one-in-a-million bug, I went and used the iPod Updater to restore it to factory settings and update to the latest firmware (1.6, if I recall correctly.)
That did the trick as far as the random freezes went, and the iPod hasn't frozen since. However, it has completely lost the ability to sleep unless I enable the Sleep Timer. Whether this is a result of the bug which caused the freezes, or a bug from the update, I don't know. I have tried holding the Play/Pause button, selecting the "Sleep" option from the main menu, and performing soft-resets on a variety of situations (connected to the PC, connected but ejected, connected to the adapter, disconnected...) and the device won't go into sleep mode.
Ironically, the Sleep function DOES work perfectly when it's plugged into the PC and charging the battery. Both the Play/Pause method and the menu option respond correctly. Of course, being able to sleep when it's already charging doesn't help much.
Obviously, I've taken care that the Hold switch is toggled to the "off" position, and I have reset the poor mini so many times I'm anxious about causing it damage. As it is, my only option is to set the Sleep Timer to 15 minutes and simply interact with the iPod until I'm ready to let it turn itself off.
Any help would be appreciated. While I wouldn't run out of battery charge (or so I hope) during the day's use, it's still a worrisome bug, and it essentially keeps the iPod anchored to a power source every eight hours, even if I don't use it.

To elaborate more on what Rob said. Since the iPod is a hard drive based device(similar to your computer) the disc inside spins and there is a needle to read the data.
What you are suggusting would be like yanking the power cord out of your computer in mid install of something, the chance of data lose is there and if happened enough bad sectors can arise. Should you do that? No, Would you do it? In most cases not.
A bad sector would in most causes make the ipod freeze when accessing it or make it fail its disk check and requiring replacement.

Avoid using DB link when extracting from Oracle in OWB map

if i define a db table as a source to extract data in my OWB mappings, it will generate PLSQL code which utilises a DBlink to get access to the table.
my question is, if my source table is in the same schema as my data warehouse runtime schema, can i tell OWB to avoid using a dblink ?!

Yes you can. What you will need to do is configure the mapping, which allows you to specify physical characteristics of a mapping. So it allows you to specify where or better how to access and object in a mapping. By default it gets the database link associated with the module it is sourced from.
To change this, in the module editor highlight your mapping. Click configure, and look at "sources and targets". Open this node and find your source table (or view). Open this node and deselect the "database link".
Should your table be in a different schema but in the same instance, you can specify a schema qualifier. You can also combine schema and dblink to point to a different instance and schema. If you specify the schema be sure to specify this in the correct case. OWB double quotes to preserve case, so use upper case in the most common scenario.

Create hyperlink to text in .txt file

I purchased a template for my company website. I am editing the text (headers, body, etc) in the .txt file (template creator's directions to do this). I now need to make some of that text in the .txt file a hyperlink (one to a pdf document on my server and several to external websites). When I highlight the text in the .txt file, I am not given the option to create a hyperlink. Obviously, when I try to create a hyperlink in the code, I can. The problem is that the desired text is only contained in the .txt file.
What can I do? Am I prevented from using text because all of the text is in the .txt file?

1) Open yourfilename.txt.
2) SaveAs yourfilename.html
3) This will give you an HTML document you can work with in Design View (albeit an un-styled one).
Add your links to the page. Ctrl+S to save.
4) SaveAs yourfilename.txt.
