Keynote software update (5.1.1) not opening when downloaded

The Keynote software update (5.1.1) not opening when downloaded.
It is telling me that "An eligible Keynote application was not found in the location /Applications/iWork '09."
I have downloaded this program from the App Store and do not have the iWorks 9 Suite.
Any ideas how to install this update? Thx.

I'm having the exact same problem. I had iWork '08 and then purchased Pages, Numbers and Keynote from the AppStore. Now I don't have an iWork '09 folder. The Pages and Numbers apps show installed, but the Keynote doesn't. Holding my breath, I went to purchase Keynote again (didn't want to pay the $20 a second time) and it comes up with the notice that it is already installed. But the new update does not show up in AppStore. Went to the website to download the update direct and when I go to install it, a warning comes up that there is no iWork '09 file in my Applications.

Check to see if Safari is running in 32 bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. If the box next to: Open in 32 bit mode is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safari to test.
If that wasn't the issue, try using OpenDNS.
Use OpenDNS for better speed, more security, prevents the, "can't connect to server" issue, includes anti phishing filters, prevents browser re directs, and it's free.
Open System Preferences / Preferences then select the Network tab. Click the Advanced tab then click the DNS tab.
Click +
Enter these addresses exactly as you see them here.

Then click OK.

Software Updates Missing and File Not opening in Final Cut Pro

Hi Experts,
I am having trouble with Final Cut Pro. Here goes:-
I tried to load up a FCP file called "Overview" in Lesson One of the Apple Pro Training Series book called "Color". The file would not open and I got the following message alert in FCP:
"File's format is too new for this version of the application".
I am running FCP 6.0.1 and so went to check for software updates. I could not find any listed for FCP. I did a quick internet search to make sure and found there were indeed updates to 6.0.1.
So I guess I have 2 problems:
1. Why won't a file from a book that was published before I bought FCP work on my app?
2. Why can't I see updates for FCP in the Software Update application?
I am mega stuck with this. I have read of similar problems to mine on the internet but have found no solution. I hope that you will be able to help me out.

Thanks for your reply. I feel kinda silly now but I have been continuously checking Software Update for 24hrs and I just got a new addition to the list which was called "Pro Applications Update 2008-05".
Seeing something new, I installed it and it upgraded my Final Cut Applications including FCP to version 6.0.5.
The file then opened.
I am truly sorry to have taken your time up. As when I posted last time Nick, you were very prompt and helpful.

Safari quits, Software Update quits, Skype does not open, Meesenger too.

Downloaded latest Security update and Safari 3.1 plus latest Airport Extreme Firmware up date. All works well on my Powerbook (1.25) however its all gone funny on my wifes iMac (800).
1. Safari quits for no raeson.
2. Software Update tries to open but quits half way through.
3. Skype does not open at all.
4. Messenger does not open at all
Help, what is happening,does anybody know/can help.

Same is happening to me, most internet related applications won't start.
As far as I understand, this is related to the WebKit, which has been obviously changed in the latest Software update.
Having said that, I would also appreciate if anybody could give some help on how to restore a working WebKit.

Didn't the installer give you an opportunity to quit it when it gave you that message?
What were you updating?
You should be able to force quit the installer just like any other app but depending on what you were installing when it failed, and depending on where in the installation process it failed, you could leave your system in an inseminate state. That may mean you mght not be able to reboot.

Lightroom 5 is not opening when downloaded with creative cloud?

I have creative cloud and have tried downloading lightroom 5 multiple times now, i have completely updated my macbook and still the problem is not solved. It will come up as if its about to open then disappear. It doesn't download as its own folder like my photoshop and indesign files have if this has anything to do with it?

Please try renaming the Preference folders for Lightroom and try again. Below Kb article would help you with the locations.

Is there a way to have the download window not open when downloading attachments?

Every time I download an attachment, the downloads window opens and it slows down the client. Is there a way to download the attachments, without having the download window open all the time?

When I try to install the Software Updater for the first time to update my Nokia 6500c phone, I receive the following error message about 57% during the install process. I checked my permission keys in the registry, and they seem to have all the correct Admin permission.
Any suggestions?

Hi,
It looks like you do not have access to the registry key mentioned i.e. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run\Optional Components\IMAIL.
This might be due to the fact that you may not be added to the Administrators group or the registry key has been denied access explicitly to a group that you may be part of.
People in my network setup were facing the same issue, and we fixed the same using Microsoft's "subinacl" tool. You can follow the below mentioned steps to rectify your issue as well:
1. Download Microsoft's SubinACL tool from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e8ba3e56-d8fe -4a91-93cf-ed6985e3927b&displaylang=en
2. Install the same by double clicking on the "subinacl.msi" just downloaded.
3. Open Command Prompt window through the Run Dialog Box (Start -> Run and type "cmd" and click OK)
4. In the Command Prompt window, type in the following commands:
i. cd /d "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Resource Kits\Tools" (Hit Enter)
ii. subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Opti onalComponents /grant=administrators=f /grant=SYSTEM=f /grant=USERS=f /grant="Creator Owner"=f (Hit Enter)
You should see some processes happening on your screen. After the process ends, retry the update operation you were originally trying to perform. Hopefully, it should succeed now.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. For the iPad Mini the iOS is 6.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

Help! iTunes update 10.7 will not open: WHAT TO DO?
Recently I updated to Snow Leopard from 10.5.8 and then updated to 10.6.8. The recent update to itunes 10.7 has completely failed as iTunes fails to boot up and just send a message to Apple. So now I cannot access my music library. I tried deleting the new iTunes 10.7 and reinstalling iTunes 10.6.3 and also 10.3.1 with exactly the same result. I did the installation after turning off as many background software items as I could like Sophos Anti Virus and Little Snitch. This makes one want to give up on software updates - I have had an increasing number of failures as my machine gets to 5 years old.
Macbook:
Model: MacBook3,1, BootROM MB31.008E.B02, 2 processors, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.2 GHz, 4 GB, SMC 1.24f3

Over the air update did not come out until iOS 5. You need to open iTunes on your computer and connect your phone to it and follow the prompts to update. Do a manual back before you do that

Go to the website of the manufacturer of your printer and check to see if they have released an updated driver for your particular model.
