Keynote to imovie/poor resolution

When I export my keynote slide show to QuickTime then import it to imovie the resolution is very poor, which is really obvious in the titles. Is there anyway to correct this?

iMovie is for TV delivery.. judge the final pic quality only from tape or dvd,...
iM has just a lowered preview quality... and: a TV/NTSC/low res/interlace is NO computer screen ..

IMovie - poor resolution

I have just completed my first video project using iMovie and am BITTERLY DISAPPOINTED in the resolution. There is a slight "rippling" effect throughout the video.
I used a Sony Full HD Camcorder which I have been using for a year. Until now I have done all my Video projects on a PC and have had excellent results.
It seems that I have bought an iMac unnecessarily as my PC gives better results!!
Any comments or help??

Poor resolution after importing to iMovie 10

I've just upgraded to iMovie 10 and Mavericks from 9 and my old clips are now displaying with what appears to be a poor resolution. When I watch them in 9 they look much richer.....thoughts?

i am having the same issue. tried "adjust colors" in the video FX and the preview looked great, but application of the effect left the clip unchanged.
did you get any help from another source (since this seems to be without responses)?

Poor resolution in iMovie

I have a Canon ZR100 camcorder. when loading movie into iMovie, the resolution is poor quality compared to what is playing back on camera. I did not have this problem 2 months ago with the same tape (same movie). Any idea how to retain the same quality in imovie as on camera?

How can I export a slide from Keynote to iMovie HD?

I've tried to export a slide with animation into iMovie HD. The settings I'm using are 320x200, frame rate: 30 fps, Progressive, 16x9, Data Rate: Automatic. When I export and import into iMovie Hd the resolution is blurry and grainy.
I initially tried to build a title sequence in Keynote. The title sequense transitioned into a quicktime movie clip, transitioned into a title sequence. The audio portion worked to time but the video output was increased by :30 seconds and was out of sequence. I played with the settings and deleted the preference plist for iWork, but the timing never worked in Keynote.
The timing works in iMovie Hd, but I the titles are grainey and poor resolution.
Any thoughts?

The source is DV 16:9. I've adjusted the resolution to 360:202 and compressed with Sorenson to a QT 512 streaming clip. The resolution is very good and I don't have any issues with the video. I've imported the video clip into Keynote and assembled the title sequence. It looks good with no blurring or choppiness. The problem comes when I export. The timing goes off and the length of the entire video clip is increased. I've also had problems with Keynote when exporting. It seems to be inconsistent and will drop the last title, even though the preview worked fine. I've worked around the problem by importing the title slides with out the transitions and then going into Final Cut. I'd like to keep the title transitions that I had in Keynote . Any thoughts? What's the best export format for Keynote to iMovie?

Okay, here is the situation, I have a lengthy Keynote presentation which I plan to export via QuickTime so it can be imported in to iMovie in order to do voice-overs. The question I have is what the best format is to use to export from Keynote in order to import in to iMovie. I am obviously looking for the format which is the smoothest, doesn't lose any quality, and will look clear once imported in to iMovie. Also, there is no reason to use H.264 since size during the transfer doesn't really matter to me, besides, H.264 seems to be somewhat jerky with Keynote exports (or maybe it's just my computer) as I am using some of the graphics intensive transitions and effects.
Also, I know that when you send movies directly from Keynote to iDVD or from iMovie to iDVD, it uses a format which is directly compatible and there is no conversion that takes place, is there a format which will work this way from Keynote to iMovie or does it always have to do the conversion.
Finally, the other thing you should know is that I created the presentation in Keynote using 1280x720 in order to achieve the true widescreen aspect ratio. Now, I am NOT looking to keep this in HD, once I import it in to iMovie, I only need the standard DV Widescreen resolution since I will eventually transfer it to iDVD to burn it as a widescreen DVD. So, I would also appreciate some sort of input as to whether I should export the QuickTime file out of Keynote as the full 1280x720 and then let iMovie do the down-sampling, or should I export it directly out of Keynote using the standard definition widescreen resolution? Please, I would appreciate ANY help on this!!!

this is the workflow I had which worked fine for me:
My situation was that I had two existing movies in different formats, which a had to filet, add keynote foiles at the beginning (like "Confidemus presents" and so on), between chapters and at the end.
The best way to stick all this together was indeed to export to Qicktime and there to choose the highest resolution. There are several options. The most important point was to have all transitions within foils in keynote approprately defined, because after export it is not possible to do something in iMovie with it.
After having edited the movie in iMovie (that means adding transitions), next I will use Garageband to add sound. So you see that is the point where I'm standing at the moment. I have one time edited sound with iMovie, but Garageband seems to be more sufficient to do that. I have done a little radio play together with my daughter with Garageband and I found it very nice and - of course - easy to use. There are more effects in it and when you are familiar with this editing scheme in Garageband you will love it.

Can't import quicktime movie made from Keynote into iMovie media browser

I've created a file in Keynote, exported it to quicktime and would like to import into iMovie. iMovie keeps giving me this error message: Unknown error: the file could not be imported. Can someone help?

Rarely am I able to solve my own problems, regardless of how much effort. But I did figure this one out, simply by trial and error. *To recap... I have created a sample slide show to use as a test run through Keynote (to get the best builds and transitions), to Quicktime Pro, into iMovie (to marry the features of iMovie with the Keynote slides) then back to Quicktime Pro as a final product.* It was a crash course with all 3 applications, so a huge learning curve for me.
Quicktime Kirk helped me successfully with my first go round with this. But with so many nested compression windows and so many combinations of choices, I eventually forgot which settings had worked correctly to give me the quality resolution that I had achieved the first time.
So I posted several messages asking for some clue where I was going wrong. Kirk did get back to me, but told me that I needed to create my project entirely without iMovie. Very frustrating because I knew I had done it before with iMovie.
After literally hours of analyzing all the working files and duplicating the exact settings I used before, two scenarios were happening. One, the end product had terrible resolution quality (not even close to the first time around). *Or two, when trying to import the first Quicktime file created from Keynote into iMovie, there was an error message saying that the file could not be imported*.
So, I eventually decided to try the following:
*1. Create Keynote file*
*2. Export to QT with "Full Quality/Large" setting checked, and "Include Transparency" checked.*
*3. Open QT file to check quality. If acceptable, export this QT file as a QT file again using the highest quality settings - preferably ones that match the first export from Keynote to QT.*
*4. Open iMovie file and import this new QT file.*
*5. Do my thing with it.*
*6. Export (Share) iMovie file as a final QT file with "Full Quality" setting checked in the first pop-up compression window.*
This sequence proved to be successful with the same high quality resolution as the very first go round with it. I KNOW, though, that this wasn't the sequence I used the first time because I didn't do step 3.
I am just happy that I got what I needed. Now I can create my full presentation without worrying about the outcome in the end.
*Because I'm on a Mac, and the AIC default is used, my next feat is going to be identifying codec settings that are going to work both on Mac and PC (newer machines AND older machines).*

Help with exporting Keynote to iMovie

Hello, I am working on a project in both Keynote and iMovie in which I am making some slides in Keynote, exporting them as Quicktime, and then importing them into iMovie. The slides primarily are composed of scanned pages from a book and thus have lots of small type. In Keynote, the text comes out very sharp and I can read it all perfectly. When I import the Quicktime movie into iMovie, however, the text looks very blurred and is almost unreadable. It looks like a JPEG which has been compressed way too much. However, I believe I have all of the compression settings set as high quality as possible. All of the other Keynote slides export and import just fine, only the text is giving me problems. Could someone please show me how I can export the Keynote slide so that the text shows up in iMovie just as clear as it looks in Keynote?

well, in that case you need to determine if this issue only happens with a perticular report or all of them, if it happens only with reports imported from 5.x or with newly created reports as well.
Looks like it is happening only when report is exported from Infoview, not in the Deski client. This might indicate a problem at the Web Apllication server (tomcat or one you use).
If this issue is happening with any report - it might be a bug. In that case you have no options as there are no more patches for XIR2.
On the other hand - if all you need is to extract data for consumption in another tool , why not use Data integrator instead ?
Also, if this desn't work in Deski - does it work if you convert your reports to webi and export from those ?

Examples of what is going on:
1. In Pages, Numbers & Keynote, when I go to the media browser the Audio section reads "Open iTunes to populate this list" even after iTunes has been opened, .xml file has been replaced/repaired, etc AND Photo section reads "Open iPhoto to see photos from your iPhoto Library in this list" even after iPhoto Library has been replaced and new default library created.
2. In iMovie, similar thing ... when I go to add photos or music to a movie the iTunes files aren't present and the iPhoto photos are missing with similar messages as in #1.
3. In iPhoto, similar thing ... when I go to add music to a slideshow it says to "Open iTunes to populate this list".
It is shocking to me that Apple would let something as simple as a pathway link to associated library files get this messed up on an upgrade, but what's even more surprising is that with the number of people who seem to be having this particular issue (and I can tell from all the research that I've done for weeks online that there are a lot of them) that there doesn't seem to be a single clear answer to fixing it anywhere on these community support forums. Most of what I've seen is rehashed advice from outdated issues. What I need is a simple answer to how do we get these programs to look for the correct location of the photo and music files because I sure can't seem to find any logical place to do that through the programs' preferences files or the system preferences window?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem on a new MacBook Pro. I have not been able to access the iTunes library from iPhoto since I got this computer. I looked in the Preferences file and deleted the com.apple.iApps.plist but there was no com.apple.iApps.lockfile so I just deleted the iAPPs.plist and rebooted the computer. Still no iTunes available in iPhoto.
All my music is in iTunes and plays. After reading the above I brought up Pages and I was able to access music and insert a track into a document.
Do you have any suggestions.

Poor resolution connecting my MBP to TV via HDMI. visable vertical lines.

so I've been googeling around for awhile and it seems A LOT of people have this issue. but I haven't been able to find a solution yet. Story goes... connecting the MBP to the TV via DVI to HDMI gives poor resolution. the weird thing is this only happens every other time. I've tried it on my macbook pro (2007) and another macbook (2010) and it has the same issue with both (but only sometimes). any thoughts?

To Csound's good advice, let me just add that there may be a specific HDMI port on the TV that you must use if you're going to send audio to the TV separately. This should also be explained in the TV's manual.

I have a desktop iMac,within a yr old, I had iPhoto 9,downloaded to iPhoto 11, now lost my export to Shutterfly link, & looks like all my photos went to thumbnails, with poor resolution...help!!

I have a desktop iMac OSX 10.6.8, had iPhoto 9 & downloading software update to iPhoto 11, (9.1.5??) I can't find the way to reset up the "Export to Shutterfly mode" and it looks like all my previous photos went to a thumbnail size...with now poor resolution. If I would have know my pictures were going to turn into poor quality pictures, I never would have done the software update. Need a real person to talk to. This complicated method is not user friendly.

Poor resolution on playback of PNG slides

I'm making a video presentation consisting of *.MOD segments and PowerPoint slides that have been converted as 25-90 KB *.PNG slides. I burn the DVD. On playing the DVD on TV, the slides have very poor resolution. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help you can give.

What are the pixel x pixel dimensions of those PNG images. File size does not really mean anything in video.
What is your Project's Frame Size in pixels, say 1920 x 1080?
Exactly how did you convert the PowerPoint "slides" to PNG?

Poor resolution on iPhoto book

I just ordered the large softbound iPhoto Book from Apple and am very disappointed with the poor resolution of the photos. My original files were 1280x960. Is there any way to find out if my photos are being uploaded at the highest possible res? I've read other posts about changing preferences, but haven't been able to figure out how to do that at my end.

The easiest way I've found to modify preference files is with Pref Setter. Once you've located and opened the iPhoto preference file do a search for "dpi". Then change the values for the Keys BookTargetImageDIP, BookTargetSmallImageDIP and BookTargetMediumImageDIP to 300. Save and close Pref Setter. That's it.
It's interesting that you found the large book images to be poor. There was another user that received large books from both the east and west coasts. He found the east coast book to be of lower image resolution (greater halftone pattern) than that from the west coast. All of my large size books have come from the west coast and have been very good, with or without the resolution change in the preference file. Not so with the medium size books. There were patterned no matter what resolution was set in the preferences.

Error con archivos multimedia de keynote y imovie

hola. sucede que cuando habro keynote o imovie, las fotos que importe a iphoto no me aparecen en archivos multimedia para poder desde el mismo keynote o imovie hacer uso de ella, quiero aclarar que si podía y era mas fácil, y ahora no puedo.

Uno de nuestros clientes está recien implementado y un backup hecho por SQL no ocupa más de 200 Mb, el otro por su parte ya tiene una base más antigua y su backup es de proximadamente 2Gb.
La configuración la hemos hecho de varias formas
Inicialmente dejamos marcada la opción para que el servicio arranque automáticamente con el sistema operativo
e iniciamos el servicio.
Posteriormente seguimos uno a uno los siguientes pasos:
1. Botón Shedule: Lo seleccionamos como diario (Daily) con una hora X en el campo time (ejemplo: 05:00)
2. Botón Settings: Lo hemos definido como C: en ambas rutas
3. Botón Connection: Realizamos conexión con usuario válido de SQL ya sea utilizando servidor LOCAL o
usando la IP del mismo.
4. Botón Database: Seleccionamos las bases de datos que necesitamos.
Este procedimiento nos sirve en los demás clientes y en nuestras máquinas sin problema,
el inconveniente es exclusivamente con dos clientes puntuales.
Al notar el error hemos intentado configurar primero e iniciar el servicio después, pero el resultado sigue siendo el mismo.
Tratamos de desinstalar el Server Tools y volverlo a instalar, pero tampoco funcionó.
Ambas compañías se encuentran en PL09 SP01; sin embargo, otras que tenemos en el mismo parche funcionan correctamente.
Agradezco su interés y cualquier aporte que nos ayude con el tema.
