Keynote to PPT?

I made and saved a Theme in Keynote. Is it possible to use that theme in powerpoint?

I want the export to  powerpoint happen using any programming language or API or interop of keynote available.
I have no idea what your reply means.
The way to export frrom Keynote to a PowerPoint file is to use: Share > Export > Powerpoint
Three clicks of the mouse; quick and simple.

Can you do keynote or PPT presentations via wifi and AppleTV?

Not from your mac/PC, but keynote presentations from an iPad 2 with AirPlay are quite simply brilliant. Not only do you have full control of the keynote in your hands, but besides seeing the slides that everyone else is seeing, right in front of you as you look at your audience, you have your notes too.

  • URGENT: I am trying to present a Keynote or PPT online, HOW?

I need to present my keynote or PPT to people that are in L.A and I'm in Chicago, how can I do this? It has video attached to it, so the HTML doesn't work, and the Quicktime doesn't work right online unless you make the video Timed play, we want it to be a manual presentation with the video attached. I've been at this for over a day, how can I do this?
    HELP PLEASE HELP
    Dan

I thought about that, but it was too much work in the end. I ended up just creating a static html version, and then linked them separately to the video. Not perfect, it would be nice to be able to really create a strong web keynote or online interactive keynote presentation somehow?

  • Transfer from keynote to ppt

I received a keynote presentation and would like to tranfer it to powerpoint.  Draging from Knote to ppt does not work

OK, ..."export to ppt" from Keynote on my own Mac, ...load that onto a PC, ...fix it on the PC using its version of ppt, ...and standard fonts, ...convert MOV movies to WMV so ppt can use the movies, ...insert the wmv's into ppt on the PC, ...
Assume the City laptop has an older version of ppt so the movies (in wmv) are put into the same folder on the thumb drive, so the City's laptop will link the movies to the ppt presentation?  Will the City's PC be able to link the two?
I'm a Mac guy, an architect.  I've never looked at Bootcamp, nor at VMWware Fusion. I suppose you're recommending that I get those?
There are some free conversion sites online.  I just converted an mov to a wmv using:    http://www16.online-convert.com/init-video-conversion , ...unfortunately only the audio came through, in a much smaller file.
ZAMZAR is another conversion site.  I tried them yesterday and I think the movie conversion worked, though the ppt work I tried, ...didn't.  Must try again, using somebody's PC and ppt, as you say.
This is such an unnecessary trial, ...not to mention waste of time.  Twenty hours or more, wasted due to an obsolete City policy.  Such dummies down there.
I've used the Office for Mac Suite a bit, mostly Word to open documents sent by others, and was hoping 2011 would "export" to a useful file.

  • From Keynote to PPT (PPS)

    Good day
    I have Keynote '09 vr: 5.0.3
    Incompatibilty keynote vs Powerpoint.
Is there a theme in Keynote which is fully compatible to Powerpoint?
I now have the transition time that changes from 6.00 sec to 1.5 sec in PPS.
and transition format also not compatible. If I use Perpective, PPS changes it to Push....
    Regards
    Ray

    Hi Raybce,
From all the times I've exported a Keynote presentation to PPT (PPS), I found that the export does not succeed 100%. The simpler the presentation (the less effects and transitions or if you use effects and transitions that can also be found on PPT), the higher your chances of exporting the file without any issues. The more effects and transitions, the more intricate your presentation, the higher the chance that the export will not be exactly the same. I usually find that Keynote exports with 95-98% success to PPT depending on complexity of the presentation. Then you have to unfortunately go through the PPT and manually make any adjustments to make your presentation as you wish it to be...

  • When I convert keynote to ppt narration is unsupported and lost

I have to submit a narrated powerpoint for class. I created a narrated keynote and converted it to ppt but the sound, my narration was erased. The error message says "Narration isn’t supported and was removed."

This is correct, PowerPoint does not support Keynotes narration.
You would have to do this in PowerPoint to create a narration.

Thanks for your help, I was using Powerpoint 2004 and 2007, however I found the issue by reading this forum...
Seems in the template I was using 2 images were grouped together and PP doesnt like that when converting. So ungrouped those items rebuilt the slides and SUCESS!!

  • Keynote 6, PPT, and Presenter

I have an issue that I think might affect maybe 2 or 3 others in addition to me!
I use Keynote to create my slide decks for Presenter, the export the Keynote deck to PPT, for loading into Presenter. YES, I am a MAC user... And I really wish that someday somehow Presenter would have the capability to run as an application on a MAC and import Keynote... More on that in a minute.
So I have through Presenter 7,8, and 9 successfully used that workflow: Keynote, Export to PPTx, then move to a WIN machine and load into PowerPoint.
    That worked fine last with
         Keynote 09
         export to PPTx
load into PowerPoint 2013 with Presenter 9
BUT with Keynote 6, I have problems. The problem being that animations would not work in Presenter the way they always have. When I get to the last annimation on a given slide, Presenter would leave up the NEXT ANNIMATION arrow, and expect me to move from IF there is a transiton. So Presenter was not recognizing the difference between an onslide annimation and a transition.
This was annoying enough to me that I fiddled around with it and found... Using
         Keynote 6
         export to PPT (NOT PPTx)
load into PowerPoint 2013 with Presenter 9
That the problem is solved. Somehow exporting to old PPT format makes Presenter understand the situation.
    That was the specific.
The general issue is... WHY DOESN"T ADOBE VALUE MAC CUSTOMERS! The continuous ignoring of MAC customers by Adobe in relation to PPT is not only annoying but has risen after 5-6 years now to be totally maddening. Its like Adobe does not WANT MAC users to use Presenter. Every time I have to use WIN PPT I grit my teeth. And do it, because conceptually Presenter is tremendously good. Just not for MAC people.
So here is the yet bigger picture. Why doesn't Adoble move the functionality of Presenter into Captivate - since Cpativate is both MAC and PC available. Captivate enables loading in PPT but does not allow (last time I looked) anything other than using slides as background. Moreover to edit the slkdes, you have to stay linked to PPT.
Adobe could seel one package that had both products if they want to keep the two lines separate for income stream and have the unlock for PRESENTER be separate from the unlock for CAPTIVATE.
AND on the Mac side, if you would enable Keynote use, it would be truly great!!
So, this has been a public service announcement for anyone having the same specific trouble I had, AND its been an editorial to request Adobe to play a llitte nicer with MAC users....
    Thanks,
      ---jon----

I do not think that cut and paste should be an option for any acceptable operating system and certainly not for a Apple Computer! I was very happy when a couple of operating systems ago it was possible to Drag and Drop via shifting through the Dock and waiting that the application by which you would pause in the Dock, would open so that it would make possible to drag and drop from different windows.  This WOULD be especially useful considering a lot of nice applications are now full screen, but ..... that does not work either!! So I would expect cut and paste would work, but .... it does NOT! I have to bring both the applications from  full screen app to windows format, bring them on one desktop and than drag and drop, and then I can make them full screen again until the next "drag and drop". Is this Apple?!?!?!?!?!? And this is just one of the things which do NOT work. It does not belong to this thread, but Hands off and Hot spots also do NOT work with a NEW MAC BOOK PRO Retina,, NEW IPHONE 6, AND NEW IPAD AIR2. I am _VERY_ disappointed in Apple lately....

  • Keynote opening PPT files

Not sure what is happening, keynote freezes when trying to open ppt files. SFC compatibility plug-in?
What is this and can we fix it?

    Hello.

  • Keynotes and PPT Attachments

When I return to a PPTX that I have opened from a Mail attachment and then opened in Keynotes I cannot get the attachment in Mail to close as I can with other attachments. I tap the opened PPTX attachment in Mail and I do not get a bar at the top of the page that I can then tap "done". Am I doing something wrong?
Every other document I open in Documents to Go for instance allows me to close the opened Mail attachment when I return to mail after reading or editing or whatever.
    Thanks.

Yes, other users have reported a similar occurrence but not related to a particular type of attachment or open-in app. Solution is to:
    - reset your iPad
    - Use the search function and find another mail message and open that mail message.
    - Maybe powering off and then back on.

  • Transform pdf in keynote or ppt

Hi. I often see slideshows on the web, which you can download as a pdf. Is there a way probably using automator to transform this pdf presentations in keynote presentation. It is clear to me that does ones will not be editible, however if a workflow would just make a keynote slide out of every pdf slide (page) , that would be a great timesaver

Well, it's possible to convert the pages of a PDF into images with the Automator action "Render PDF Pages as Images". And it's possible to add images to an already opened Keynote presentation with "Create Image Slide". If you don't have a presentation opened already, you could use "Make New Keynote Presentation". Since you always have to have at least one slide in a presentation, a new presentation starts with a blank slide. After the images are added as slides, you can use "Delete Slide" to delete that first slide. I'm using iWork '08 and so the presentation actions are from that version.
I don't know what is inside your PDFs, so I'm going to assume they contain text documents. Often, text documents are laid out in a PDF to print on paper. The width and height of a PDF document that is 8.5 x 11.0 inches turns out to be 612 x 792 pixels. PDFs are defined with 72 points per inch and in this case the points get converted to pixels when making images with the Automator action. If you have a different size PDF document (use the inspector panel in the Preview app), you can multiple the size in inches by 72 to get the pixel size for the images that will be returned.
Here's a workflow I threw together just now that works for me:
    1. *Make New Keynote Presentation* - I left the default theme set to White and I set the width to 612 and the height to 792. If Keynote isn't already open, this action will cause it to be opened. This action must come before the PDF, otherwise the created presentation is passed on to the next actions instead of the PDF. If you save this workflow as an application, you might want to choose the Options button on this action and select "Show this action when the workflow runs" so you can set the size each time.
    2. *Get Selected Finder Items* - I chose this action so I could select a PDF in the Finder and then run the workflow. This works great if you save the workflow as an application and then place it in the Finder's toolbar. In case you're wondering, this action ignores the input from the previous action.
    3. *Render PDF Pages as Images* - For testing, I left it set to the defaults: RGB, JPEG, 200 dpi, compression midway. This will be what you change if you want better clarity or different formats for some reason. This may take a long time. The more pages and the larger they, the longer this will take, of course.
    4. *Create Image Slide* - I left this set to the defaults. Not really sure what the settings do, so you'll need to play with that to find out yourself. Keep in mind this will add the slides to the frontmost presentation open in Keynote, so it's probably a good idea to leave Keynote alone until the workflow is done. This also takes a long time, seems to be slightly longer than rendering the images. So, the more slides to add, the more time it'll take.
    5. *Delete Slide* - This is to remove the first slide in the new presentation created with the first action in this workflow. You can't delete a slide if it's the only slide, so it's done after the other slides have been added. However, you might want to keep the slide and create an intro for the images.
And that's it. I tested it by selecting a PDF file in the Finder and returning to Automator to run the workflow. I also saved the workflow as an application and then put it in the Finder toolbar (shows up as an Automator icon), then I tested that by selecting a PDF file and then clicking on the Automator icon in the Finder's toolbar. Works for me both ways. Keep in mind you'd want to select only one PDF because multiple PDFs would be combined into one Keynote presentation.
You may want to add another action or two. You could add "Save Keynote Presentation" at the end which will save the frontmost presentation, and choose the Options button on the action and select "Show this action when the workflow runs" so you can name it whatever you want each time you run it. Then, if you don't expect you'd be using this several times in a row, you could add the action "Quit Application" and select Keynote so it'll be closed afterwards. Since Keynote creates a new presentation on its own each time it is opened, you'll probably want to deselect the checkbox that prompts you save any unsaved documents so it'll close immediately.
Also, Keynote doesn't seem to offer an option to not create a new presentation. It does however have a preference setting for the default theme instead of having a theme chooser appear. Setting that will prevent Keynote from bouncing in the Dock trying to get your attention to select a theme for a presentation you aren't going to use. Not that it matters, because you can just ignore since it'll stop bouncing once Automator creates another presentation in front of it.
The only reason I didn't make use of the new presentation created by Keynote when it's first opened is so the workflow would work as expected even when Keynote was already opened with other presentations. Having the first action create a new presentation ensures any presentations already opened in Keynote won't be modified. Of course, if you expect to be in that situation, you probably also don't want to add the action for quitting Keynote.

  • How do I export Keynote file to Powerpoint as ".ppt" rather than ".pps"?

    Greetings,
have not been able to export from Keynote4.0.1 (OSX 10.4.10)
to Powerpoint .ppt format, only to .pps
is there a setting somewhere in preferences?
when i try to change the file name suffix to .ppt it still appends to .pps
    any clues or advice?
need to export as .ppt file for use in another app. (Impatica)
thanx in advance for any help!
PS if you have a G4 Powerbook with bad LCD, please post on the proper forum category to request that Apple consider a recall for this growing problem!!
    http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1029

    greetings,
    -- have found solution!
-- depends on the nature of the initial PowerPoint file, whether imported to Keynote as .ppt or .pps (embedded or linked media)
-- have been importing/exporting between Keynote & PP to refine the presentation for best cross-platform delivery as part of my edit process. as other have stated, on this discussion forum--there are a number of incompatibilities, when re-exporting your beautiful content rich Keynote presentation back to the MS PP format.
-- it is best to be selective with your template choices & linked/embedded media files while working in Keynote... if you have high expectations for playback in MS PP you'll be disappointed. export to a QT movie for an excellent rendering of effects (not to mention, addtl. editing capabilities in QT Pro) & hope the end user has a plugin! much better than a less pleasing MS PP playback.
    welcome other solutions/experiences here; please.
    thanx,

  • Is it possible to embedding a video in Keynote and then play as a PDF?

    Hi
Is it possible to embedding a video in Keynote and then play as a PDF?  I want to do a PowerPoint/Keynote presentation that includes videos from YouTube.  My preference is use Keynote although I do have Office 2004.
My issue is that the places where we present have their own equipment so we are encouraged to bring the presentation on a USB/portable HD, and they tend to be Windows environments.
In my perfect (ignorant) world, I'd
    Create it in Keynote
    Add/embed videos from YouTube
Save it as a multi platform file like a PDF
I guess the key issue is:
Is there a way to create a multi platform presentation with videos (I think Keynote and PPT require different video formats???) that can be carried on USB/portable HD?
    Thanks

No, it's not possible without using hacks. And Adobe can't support or endorse hacks
Bear in mind that not only there are new features in a new version which can't possibly be recreated by an older version - also, there are enhancements to existing features, which would make them render differently in the two versions.
That said, there are people posting such hacks, as Sébastien pointed out.
