Keynote transitions slow with lcd projector

When I connect my 2010 macbook pro to an lcd projector keynote stutters at times.  Most importantly, the slides that are timed to transition with music do not transition on time.  The longer the presentation plays the worse the time gets.
Macbook pro with 8G ram
Intel 2 Duo Core 2.53 processors
Project saved and runs from the desktop.
Same problem on multiple projectors
using dvi apple adaptor
same results on battery power or ac/dc adaptor plugged in

I'm afraid this isn't much help, but I also experience this problem with a much older white macbook. I do a keynote  on the macbook, play it back through an external projector and all the transitions are visibly slower.
Keynote also exhibits drastic timing differences depending which computer a presentation is being run on.  For example a presentation created on my Intel iMac 2006 will run much faster than on my newer macbook.
It's almost as if keynote doesn't know about real time clocks.

  • Trackpad issues with LCD projector

When I attach my MBA to LCD projectors, the trackpad ceases becomes stuck and useless. If I plug in a USB mouse, it works fine. Thoughts?

Firstly, make sure that you didn't connect to a external mouse, and try the Fn+F3 to see if it can work properly.
Try to do a EC reset by remove the AC adapter and insert the straighten paperclip into battery reset hole. Wait for few seconds then attach the AC adapter back on and restart the system.
Re-install the touchpad driver by uninstall the driver first.

If above can't help the situation, do a system recovery and try it again.

  • Using iphone 4 in presentation with LCD projector

The mirror function has disappeared from my iphone.  Did apple erase it with the newest upgrade?  Where did they place it?  I had bought a 30 pin adapter to use with my iphone 4 to project presentations while traveling early last year.  Now suddenly when moving a presentation to my iphone and holding a practice run- nothing.  Can someone please advise?
    Thank you.

Really? Not MacBooks then? I guess these people are all mistaken then:

  • What cable for macbook pro needed to connect with LCD projector

I ordered a Mini DVI to VGA adapter, but it doesn't fit into my laptop. What connection do I need for a connection

if you do not have a Mini DVI, that leaves only about 80 models of MacBooks.

  • LCD projector to MacBook Air - I have thunderbolt, how do I connect these two machines?

I purchased an IPEVO Ziggi HD, how do I use this with LCD projector? I have MacBook Air which has thunderbolt and HDMI...

Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • Portege R500 - Switch view from laptop screen to LCD projector

Hello - new here, urgent request. We are having a meeting and I am using the Portege R500 for the first time with LCD Projector which is also a Toshiba.
How do I switch the view from the laptop screen to the projector screen? I thought it was Function F5 (Fn F5) but it isn't working.
    Can anyone help?

    Hi
Yes, you have to use the FN+F5 to switch to the external monitor or to external projector, etc
Firstly you have to connect the notebook with projector while the both devices are off.
After you have connected the projector you could power up the notebook.
Then try to switch to external projector using the FN+F5 key combination

  • Any issues connecting the new MacBook to LCD projector with VGA adapter?

I do presentations on the road using my old MacBook with whatever LCD I find when I get there. I run Keynote with lots of video clips in my presentations. I carry a Mini-DVI to VGA adapter. Most often it works fine.
I was hoping to update to the new MacBook, but I'm concerned about the display issues on the discussion board.
Has anyone had any experience connecting the new MacBook using Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter?

I received my MB (aluminium) 2.0 in early November, but only this week (2nd week December) have had a need to use it for a presentation via the Mini DisplayPort --> VGA adapter.
I thought I could use it just as I did my previous (white 1.83 MacBook) laptop, but this one is a bit quirkier. Plugging in the adapter cable results in a system freeze. Unplugging the cable will restore mouse control (unfreezing the computer) in most instances, but not all.
Turns out that in order to use an external VGA connection, I need to have the adapter plugged in and restart the machine. If the external display is not present from boot, then it freezes.
This is unlike my previous MacBook, in which I could plug-unplug willy-nilly. The screen would flash blue a couple of times and all would be fine, with the external extended display detected and functioning. This was one of those nice "Mac" things that my Windows-using colleagues were somewhat jealous of, as they constantly have trouble getting their laptops to recognize the LCD projector.
Sadly, it looks like I'm now living in their world...

  • Keynote Plays Only in Rehersal Mode on LCD Projector

I have a macbook and the latest version of Keynote. I use a Optima EzPro 735 LCD portable projector. When I play my slide show it only shows it in rehersal mode (two side by side screen with the time and timer at the bottom). Yesterday I had no problems showing it in full screen one slide at a time, so I know it can work.
    Any help? Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the discussions, MarxMan.
It sounds like what you are seeing on the projector is the "presenter display" -- this looks like the rehearsal mode, but can be used when one has two displays, so that the presenter can see what is coming up on one display while the audience, on the other display or projector, sees the regular slideshow.
What is the screen on your MacBook showing? Is it showing the slideshow, or the presenter display? If it is showing the slideshow, then there are two solutions.
One, you can turn off the Presenter Display option. To do this, in Keynote Preferences, under "Alternate Display" uncheck "Use alternate display".
Two, you can re-arrange the two displays so that the presenter display is showing on your laptop. To do this, you will need to go into the OS X Preferences, under Displays. There, you can configure the spanning geometry of the two displays. Simply reverse which display is on the "left" and which is on the "right", and this should put the Presenter Display on your machine, and the slideshow on the projector.

  • Best set up for Keynote with host projectors.

I'm a presenter that's made the switch from PowerPoint /PC to Keynote. Heading out on the road for the first time with my MacBook / Keynote presentation and facing 8 different host projectors. I don't expect to find many DVI projectors. But I'm bringing an mini DVI to DVI adapter, in case I do. I also will bring a mini DVI to VGA adapter. I'm running a 2GHz Macbook with 2 GB SDRAM.
I'm was comfortable making connections with my old PC with host projectors, but I'm anxious about what problems might arise connecting with my Mac.
Any tips on getting set up and settings right and minimizing problems for display.

Welcome to the world of the "road warriors."
The best procedure is to connect the projector to the computer (via whatever cables and adaptors are required) and then boot-up the computer. After this is complete, turn-on the projector.
When it has warmed-up, go to System Preferences / Displays menu and click the Detect Displays button. This should select the proper settings for both your computer display and the projector. If not, you may need to find the right setting for the projector by "trial and error." (You also may need to fiddle with some of the projector's own controls.)
Once this is done, go to the Keynote / Preferences / Slideshow menu and check the button that says "Present on Secondary Display." This will direct the slideshow presentation to the projector and the Presenter Display to your computer screen (see below). Feel free to check any of the other boxes that you feel are appropriate. (I recommend checking all of the square boxes.)
Finally, go to the Keynote / Preferences / Presenter Display menu and check ALL of the boxes. (You can choose whether the timer counts up or down as you wish.) This will put the Presenter Information onto your computer screen and show you a lot of very helpful information while you are playing your presentation.
Finally, you can adjust the position and organization of the Presenter Display if you click the Enter Presenter Layout button.
One more hint: Google the phrase "test patterns." This should bring-up a list of various TV test patterns. Find one you like and copy it into your slideshow as the first slide. Use this BEFORE THE AUDIENCE ARRIVES to adjust the projector's image and focus. Then advance to the first real slide of your presentation and you are ready to go.
    Good luck.

  • Just bought a Macbook Air.  I does not appear to be compatible with my LCD projector.  What LCD projectors work best with MacBook Air?

My Cannon LCD LV-7210 projector does not recognize my Macbook Air nor does my Macbook Air recognize it is attached to an LCD projector.  Yes, I do have the proper adapter.
What LCD projectors work best with Macbook Air?  Does this LCD projector have auto-detect for computer?
    Thanks!

I've just purchased a *27in (aluminium case) LCD Cinema Display* and am using it with my MacBook Pro, linked by the supplied three-jack cable (Mini DVI display jack).
The 27" display uses Mini DisplayPort, not Mini DVI.
But I also have *a white-cased MacBook (purchased in 2008) which has an older type of display socket*, certainly not compatible with the Mini DVI type.
The early Mac Book uses Mini DVI.
    1. Is there a cable or adaptor available to link my older MacBook to the Cinema Display? Nothing in the online store looks 'right'
No. Mini DVI is single-link, and does not support the resolution needed for the 27" display.

  • I have a version 1 iPad. I would like to be able to use my LCD projector to display content to my students. I have the dongle to attach to the projector, but can't make it work. The process DOES work with my friend's iPad 2. Any advice? Thanks!

Expanding on what deggie said, with an iPad 1 the app you're using must support video out. Only the iPad 2 can mirror the screen. The apps included with the iPad that output to external monitors are given here:

For third-party apps, consult the app's documentation or contact the developer.

  • LCD Projector and Keynote Presentation - Do I need an adapter??

    Hi there -
I am presenting at a couple of conferences this week and have no idea which LCD projector they use at both places. However, I was told I should make sure I had an adapter. Anyone know what type they are speaking of? Where can I get them?
Hopefully this isn't too dumb of a question!

Ha! I feel dense! I was wondering what that was. The cord is so short that I figured it could be that, but now that I think about it, it doesn't need to be long because it uses the LCD cord as well...duh..thanks!
