Keynote window stuck in the dock

Every time I minimize a keynote window sending it to the dock
(clicking the `-` button on the window)
I do not succeed in having it back on the desktop by just
clicking on its dock icon. To have that window back on the desktop
I have to: click on the desktop, meta-tab-keynote logo, and select it.
As a result I get back the window that I minimized initially, but
a small icon of the same window is still stuck on the dock.
The latter is recovered only after quitting.
I tought to overcome this problem by upgrading
to keynote 3, but nothing changed.
Does anybody know how to solve this?

Do you also have two help menus? If so, you just need to uninstall the DiVX plugin for QuickTime (or update it to the most recent version).

  • My iMovie window is stuck behind the Dock and it won't activate when clicked.

My iMovie window is stuck behind the Dock. When I get it out from behind the Dock and click it, it won't enlarge to standard size and won't activate -- it just disappears behind the Dock again. When I quit iMovie and restart, the same problem remains. I have had my Lion mac for 4 years and this is the first time I have a window that is stuck behind the Dock and won't activate when clicked.

    Hi kiatmin1,
In order to get the window out from behind the Dock, you may need to hide or move the Dock.  This article describes using the Dock preferences to do this. Though the article says it is for a later version of the Mac OS than the one you have, the process is the same -

I'm sorry, but we don't have any immediate plans to change this... but I would never say never... and we appreciate the suggestion. You might want to register on our Ideas site and post this idea there - http://ideas.acrobat.com - if it gets a lot of votes, it will go up on our list of priorities.

  • Windows restart on the dock bar

MacBook Air 2011, Mountain Lion 10.8.2
When I shut down and then power back up, most of the apps that were open restart in small windows at the right end of the dock. When I click them they open, but when I click their windows they gray out for a few seconds and the wheel of fortune spins.
This relatively new, certainly since Mountain Lion was installed, and it doesn't seem like the kind of behavior anyone would design intentionally.
Is there a way I can correct it?

Yeah Mt Lion isn't all it's cracked up to be. I've even reverted my Mac to Lion as I find it just runs better. I've never liked the Reopen Windows things. When I'm Shutting Down or Restarting I don't want all those program I was using reopening. I can do that myself. If I wanted then still open I wouldn't have shut down or restarted. If I had to shut down or restarted because of a problem I would of closed all my open work and programs before I did that. But hey that's just the way I am.
If I have some open program and want to get away from the computer but still have them open when I return I'll put it to sleep.
Personally I think this is one of the most stupidest options. Apple kind of agrees as before 10.7.3, I think, when you Unchecked that option on the Restart/Shut Down window the next time you shut down or restarted that option was again Checked. I think 10.7.3, or maybe .4, changed that to when you unchecked it once it stayed unchecked.

  • ITunes window stuck at the top - cannot resize the window

Is this part of some glitch that's running around?
When I open iTunes (11.2.2 running on 10.9.3) - the top bar is extended above the top of my screen - so I can't resize it - the red, yellow and green buttons are all out of sight - above - and I've tried everything to get them back - everything is cut off at the top.
    Any simple solution, I'm sure?

So this is what it looks like - and it's not on full screen mode - I can't access the red, yellow or green buttons to resize - I can resize the sides and bottom - but can't click on the very top to drag it down - and when I play music - you can't see what track is playing or the scrub bar (?) - only if I then go into full screen mode.  But no matter what I do - iTunes always opens stuck at the top.

  • OSX: FF running, but no windows open - clicking on the dock icon should open a new window.

Running OSX 10.5.8, FF3.6.10. If I close all FF windows, but leave FF running, I should be able to open a new FF window by clicking the dock icon. This doesn't work - it just brings FF to the front, but no windows open. Any ideas how I can fix this?

Is an external display connected and turned off? If not, open Mission Control. Do you see the window(s) in any other spaces?

  • How do you make programs open and close into their own tab in the dock, like they do in windows?

You know in Windows, how there is a tab for each program in the taskbar?  And, if the program is minimized, when you click the tab, the programs restores.  And when you click the tab again, the program minimizes.
Can this be done on Mac?
    Thanks!
    Bret

    Here's my ungrateful response...
I should have posted screen shots in the first place!
Here is what I'm talking about.  In the first screen shot (in Windows), you can see that there are programs running in the taskbar, but all the windows are minimized.  The mouse is hovering over the "Computer" tab in the tasbar at the bottom of the screen.  I am about to click the left mouse button once to restore the "Computer" window onto the desktop, but I haven't clicked it yet...
In this next screen shot, you can see that I have just clicked the left mouse button once and the "Computer" window has been restored (is now showing on the screen)...
Then, WITHOUT MOVING THE MOUSE TO ANY BUTTON IN THE "COMPUTER" WINDOW, ETC, IE. THE MOUSE IS STILL IN THE SAME PLACE IT WAS WHEN I CLICKED THE LEFT MOUSE BUTTON ONCE TO RESTORE THE WINDOW, I click the mouse button again and the window minimizes!...
All I'm asking is if anyone knows of a way to mimic this behaviour in OSX (in the dock) - either within the operating system itself, or with an addon app, etc.
Right now, as you know, in OSX when you click the program in the dock, the program restores, but then you have to move the mouse and click on the yellow button at the top-left of the program window to minimize it again.  This is because once you click the program window icon in the dock to restore the program window, the icon is then removed from the dock - thus disallowing the possibility of clicking it again, without moving the mouse, to minimize the program window.  I'm trying to see if there is a way so you don't have to move the mouse to toggle the window from minimized to restored to minimized again.
Or to be even more clear...
This next screen shot shows the desktop in OSX (mine happens to be Lion 10.7.5) and we can see that the Firefox program window is minimized into the dock into a Firefox program window icon.  I have not yet clicked the mouse button to restore the Firefox program, but I am about to.  The red circle at the bottom left of the screen shows where the mouse is...
Here, in this next screen shot, is the screen once I have clicked the mouse button on the Firefox dock window icon and the Firefox program window has been restored...
As you can see, the Firefox dock window icon that I just clicked has disappeared and, in that place instead, the red circle is now over a different dock window icon.  The Firefox dock window icon is now missing from the dock and is therefore unclickable.  If the Firefox dock window icon was still there, I could just click on it again to minimize the Firefox program window, and subsequently click it again to restore, and so on - like I am able to do in Windows.
I hope this clears things up.

  • How to Show Every Open Window in the Dock

Is there an option to show every open window in the dock?
I have checked & tested the options but it seems somewhat selective as to which open windows appear in the dock down near the apps folder & trash. Some appear at times, but not every window, every time.

If you mean how to restore all Finder windows that have been collapsed tot he dock, this may help:

  • AOL Desktop for Mac has placed 5 untitled mail windows on the dock.

After installing Lion on my wifes IMAC we downloaded the latest version of AOL Desktop for MAC.  There are now five "untitled" mail windows on the dock.  When attempting to close these AOL Desktop for MAC crashes then displays and error window reporting to apple.  Relauanching AOL Desktop brings these "untitled " mail windows back to the dock. Anyone know how to eliminate these untitled windows?  This is the first of a few bugs that have been caused since the Lion upgrade.  Please I know its AOL but my wife likes the interface.

    Greetings Papahemi;
I too had the same problem.  Here is the solution.
Go to System Preferences and select General.
Near the bottom of the window, deselect (uncheck) "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps."
Launch AOL Desktop, you'll still see the untitled windows.  No problem.  Now quit AOL and relaunch.  No more untitled windows.
    Hope this helps.

  • Resizing a window that extends over the Dock

Sometimes a window extends over the Dock, and it becomes difficult to 'select' the little triangle in the bottom right to resize the window. Any attempt to do so 'sees' the Dock icon instead of the window that's overlapping the Dock.
The only way I have found to get around this is to move the window over to the right far enough to get that triangle in the clear space to the right of the Trash icon.
Is that the only way? (Is there perhaps a keystroke that incrementally resizes the selected window to a smaller size than the current one?)
    Thanks.

    Try this:
    property app_name : ""
set user_input to display dialog "Which application's front window would you like to resize?" default answer "" buttons {"Cancel", "OK"} default button "OK"
if button returned of user_input is "OK" then
set app_name to text returned of user_input as string
    end if
    tell application app_name
    activate
    try
    set bounds of window 1 to {4, 93, 1000, 700}
    on error
    display dialog "Not possible"
    end try
    end tell
Just enter the name of the application, e.g. Safari, FireFox. You can set the bounds in the script to anything you want, of course.
It would be nice to be able to detect the frontmost application but so far I can't do that (it sees the script as the frontmost application which is logical enough).

  • How to select iPhone as main speaker? (Stuck on a dock connecter)

I have a Logitech dock connector that I sometimes connect my iPhone to play on. When connected, my iPhone's speaker output switches to 'dock connector' and when I disconnect it it turns back to the default 'iPhone' speaker. It now becomes stuck on the dock connector even when it's not connected and I can't play any audio through my iPhone speakers because of this. Sometimes when the default iPhone speaker is working, it switches to the dock connector when I'm not even connected and I cannot go back to the default iPhone speaker.
    HELP!

    Hi redzknzz,
I see this has been up for over a year with no responses. Did you ever find a solution? I'm interested in something similar. The apps I've seen require the iPhone be connected to a powered speaker with a stereo cable. There are apps that allow you to connect to another iDevice via WiFi, which can then connect to the speaker. No output via Bluetooth yet.
    Have you found anything?

  • T430s stuck in mini dock

    Hello,
I have a series 3 mini dock with my lenovo T430s. Last night I docked my laptop as I usually do, and this morning when I went to undock it, I pressed the eject button but the laptop appears to be stuck in the dock. I can press the eject button, it doesn't do anything, as far as it's concerned I already ejected it. If I press down on the laptop, the dock will recognize it, but it does not stay attached. The dock has AC power, so that's not the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    aasfr, welcome to the forum,
sorry I didn't see this earlier   Are you still stuck in your dock?  The same happened to one of my customers a while ago, with a bit of effort I managed to release the system without breaking it.

  • Firefox does not become active from the Dock when I click on a email link

In OS 10.5, I can temporarily put the Firefox window off to the Dock by clicking on the yellow button in the upper left of the Firefox menu bar. In earlier versions of Firefox, the window would become active again if I clicked on a web link in an email address or document. Firefox 3.6.3 will open a tab for the web link, but stays inactive on the Dock. Why the change?

  • Question About The Dock?

I would like to know, is there a way to have the dock open at the bottom and open a browser but not have the browser window or anything you open be above the dock, I want the dock to stay above the windows, I don't like that space it makes. If that makes any sense. If you take the dock and hide it, and open up a browser full screen, and then Un-Hide the dock it goes above the Window, that's how I'd like it to stay, or at least try it out, if there is a way to do it, using some other free hack.

Ha Yea that I know, Hmmm Let my try and explain this better, Ok this is how I normally have my setup, I have my dock hidden always, Safari always takes up all my screen, the way I like it. Now when I move the mouse down over the dock it comes up above the Browser window when I have it open, or anything I have open for that matter. Now if I open up a browser then un-hide the dock, it will be displayed over the browser window, application, Finder and so on. Now if you keep the dock not hidden and you open up a window, Browser (Firefox,Safari) it will open, but only above the Dock, this is what I want to fix, so I can keep the Dock not hidden, but also at the same time, not have windows stay above the Dock, where it leaves the space on the bottom Left and Right sides. I hope that made more sense.
