Keynote with Projector

I've made a PowerPoint presentation using a PC at work, and then enhanced it with Keynote upon coming home to my Mac. Works like a charm. I then go to present the slide show at work using my MacBook and everything is fine... except I was stumped temporarily with resolution-elated issues. With the help of the IT guy we figured it out, but does anyone know off-hand, what should the resolution be set at when connecting our computers to a projector? Also does this happen automatically, or do we need to set this up using Systems Preferences?
Thans kindly,
john

I usually travel with my own projector, so there is no once I set it to the proper screen resolution it remains as is.
However, sometimes I have to use the "house" projector, so to enable me to be sure that everything is sized properly and with the proper resolution, I have created a "test pattern" slide that I can use to make the final adjustments. The one I use is copied from the BBC website (http://www.meldrum.co.uk/mhp/testcard/bbc_test.html) but you can also do a Google search for "Test patterns" and find a variety to choose from. These will give you circles, focus lines and patterns, color bars and other graphics to optimize the projector's settings.
Use the graphics options in Keynote to customize the test pattern for your own use: text, logos, etc.
If you are using any audio playback, it also is a good idea to include some audio test signals with this slide: channel check (left-right), polarity (in and out), channel balance, etc.

  • Keynote with Iphone.

Can you use bluetooth to control iPad (Keynote) with your iPhone? It works perfect on wifi but I do not always have that. If so, how? Is there a remote that would work?
    Thanks

I would expect that this is possible, given that it may be connected to a LCD display, and this was done at Apple's SDK Roadmap presentation recently.
Settings>IPod>TV out may be a way to do this, but I'm not sure. perhaps other posters have tried it and can advise more.
    This from Microsoft in November:
+“Getting presentations from PowerPoint 2008 for Mac to your iPod or iPhone is easy. PowerPoint exports your presentation as a series of pictures directly to iPhoto, or saves those same slide images as pictures to your Pictures folder. From there, sync pictures to your iPod or iPhone through iTunes as usual, then use the built-in Photos or slide show program on your iPod or iPhone to show your presentation. No sweat!+
+“Presentations look great on the big wide screens of iPhone and iPod Touch, but they look even better on a big screen TV or projected. Plug your iPod into a television or projector using the Apple Component AV or Composite AV cable and leave your laptop in the case.”+

  • Canot email in pdf from pages + keynote with iPad air

I can't email à document in PDF from pages and keynote with iPad air. I reset the iPad an it don't work

Can you mail the files in any other format at all? Did you try emailing a Pages file as a Pages file or as a Word doc?
OK. My response was too late. If you can email them in another format, I don't see how the problem could be with the mail app, but I suppose it's possible anyway. I know that you restored the iPad, and this should help, but try resetting all settings.
Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. No data will be lost but all of your settings will have to be entered again.

  • Can the 32GB Full HD Camcorder with Projector HDR-PJ710V download to my xperia tablet for playback?

Can the 32GB Full HD Camcorder with Projector HDR-PJ710V download to my xperia tablet for playback?  Thanks, Ron

    Hello Ron,
    Welcome to the Sony Community.
The video format supported by the Tablet is .MP4, whereas the format of the videos recorded in the Camcorder is AVCHD. Therefore, the videos recorded in the Camcorder will not playback directly in the Tablet. You may use a video editing software and convert the AVCHD videos to MP4 format.

  • Keynote with embedded .mov exported to Quicktime and then WMV (Flip4Mac)

    Hi,
I have a Keynote with an embedded .mov file (video and audio) half way through which exports to Quicktime fine ("Keynote .mov").
When I use Flip4Mac to convert the Keynote .mov to WMV the resulting WMV file works fine but stops when the audio of the Keynote .mov stops i.e. Flip4Mac doesn't render the last of the Keynote .mov
I have sought help over at Flip4Mac tech support forum but thought someone here might know the answer.
I have tried a variety of different .mov files in my Keynote but the same in all cases: export to QT is fine but Flip4Mac stops converting the Keynote .mov at the end of any audio.
I can extract the audio track and Flip4Mac will convert the Keynote .mov (video) all the way through.
    Help?

what format are the movies you placed on your slides? This makes a big difference in if they get included in the exported QT movie.

  • B560 connection with projector using long cable no display

    Hello Guys ,
I am  having a problem with projector connection shown in the picture below.I have  tried other PCs there is no problem. This case only happening with B560. Until now I did bios  update. Do you think that there is problem with intel HD graphics driver ? Any suggestion ?

    hi OKR-MAN,
Thank you for your post, Its really uncertain at this point to understand what exactly is causing. But base on diagram and if i were to decide from first look i'd say you have a cable failure. But may i know what type of cable are you using specifically and  are you connecting through VGA, HDMI or using any converters.
Do let me know and let me check this out for you.
    regards

  • SharedObject with Projector

    Hi,
please, is it possible to use SharedObject with Projector? I
mean, if someone doesn't have Flash installed and gets the CD with
the Flash app burned in, is it possible for the app to store data
    locally?
I'm asking because from what I understood SharedObject is
always stored in a very specific location, but what happens if
someone doesn't have Flash, i.e. the location shouldn't exist?
    Thanks in advance!

You are extending your desktop onto the projector, instead of mirroring your internal display.
With the projector hooked up (your blank desktop showing on the projector indicates you are properly connected) go to System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement tab and check the box to Mirror Displays.
    Hope this helps...

  • I can't get my iPhone to work with projector using keynote.

I've tried using my iPad with the same projector and same presentation. It works. But, my notes (massive amount of notes, not conducive to keynotes presenter notes) need to be on my iPad, so I would love to setup my iPad as the remote, and the iPhone as the presentation host via a VGA into the projector. So far no luck. Any suggestions?

I don't think there's any way to do that - to control one iOS device with another.

  • Keynote with a Projector...

I'm giving presentations to a group using Keynote and a projector.  Is there a way to show the presentations without the audience seeing the Keynote files screen?  The easy fix would be to put them all into a single presentation but I need the flexibility to change up the order if needed, so I need them in separate files.  It's not very professional for the audience to see what's going on in the background.
I am open to the idea of using a different app.  I'm new to the Apple environment and don't know what solutions might be available.
    Any advice would be welcome.

Most projectors display a logo when there are in a sleep mode, some let you substitute your own logo.
There is no way to do what you want with the iPad.

  • Best set up for Keynote with host projectors.

I'm a presenter that's made the switch from PowerPoint /PC to Keynote. Heading out on the road for the first time with my MacBook / Keynote presentation and facing 8 different host projectors. I don't expect to find many DVI projectors. But I'm bringing an mini DVI to DVI adapter, in case I do. I also will bring a mini DVI to VGA adapter. I'm running a 2GHz Macbook with 2 GB SDRAM.
I'm was comfortable making connections with my old PC with host projectors, but I'm anxious about what problems might arise connecting with my Mac.
Any tips on getting set up and settings right and minimizing problems for display.

Welcome to the world of the "road warriors."
The best procedure is to connect the projector to the computer (via whatever cables and adaptors are required) and then boot-up the computer. After this is complete, turn-on the projector.
When it has warmed-up, go to System Preferences / Displays menu and click the Detect Displays button. This should select the proper settings for both your computer display and the projector. If not, you may need to find the right setting for the projector by "trial and error." (You also may need to fiddle with some of the projector's own controls.)
Once this is done, go to the Keynote / Preferences / Slideshow menu and check the button that says "Present on Secondary Display." This will direct the slideshow presentation to the projector and the Presenter Display to your computer screen (see below). Feel free to check any of the other boxes that you feel are appropriate. (I recommend checking all of the square boxes.)
Finally, go to the Keynote / Preferences / Presenter Display menu and check ALL of the boxes. (You can choose whether the timer counts up or down as you wish.) This will put the Presenter Information onto your computer screen and show you a lot of very helpful information while you are playing your presentation.
Finally, you can adjust the position and organization of the Presenter Display if you click the Enter Presenter Layout button.
One more hint: Google the phrase "test patterns." This should bring-up a list of various TV test patterns. Find one you like and copy it into your slideshow as the first slide. Use this BEFORE THE AUDIENCE ARRIVES to adjust the projector's image and focus. Then advance to the first real slide of your presentation and you are ready to go.
    Good luck.

  • TS1702 how do i use microsoft word on my ipad? i cannot use flash on it as well neither do i use it with projector for presentation.

how can i use microsoft office on my ipad? i can't also use flash to copy and transfer documents into it and neither could i use it with a projector for presentation.

You can't use MS Office on the iPad as Microsoft haven't made app versions of their programs (you can only use apps that are in the iTunes app store on your computer and the App Store app on the iPad), but there are apps that support word, excel and powerpoint documents. The options include Apple's Pages app for Word documents, Numbers for Excel spreadsheets and Keynote for Powerpoint. And from third-parties apps such as Documents To Go ('premium' version) and QuickOffice Pro HD.
As to how you then get the file to your chosen app will depend upon what the app supports - different apps will have different ways of copying their content to/from a computer e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to your computer's iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc

  • Keynote and projectors

I'm designing a Keynote presentation on my Imac and hope to purchase a Macbook in order to show it. (otherwise I'll have to convert it to Power Point and borrow a PC). What do I need to know and buy? If my projector has a VGA input, what cable/s do I need to purchase along with the Macbook? I see that the cable is very short, what can be used to extend it so that the Macbook can be placed at a distance from the projector? Is there anyway to connect a VGA projector to my Imac?

Apple makes several VGA adapter cables about 6 inches long that will attach to the projector cable. The end that attaches to the computer/laptop that you use must match. An example is my MacBook takes the smallest size. The cables are available at any Apple store or Authorized reseller. Take whatever computer that you will use in to be sure of the correct size as you can NOT always tell the difference.
Also, if you use a MacBook, you need to have them open the file and click "Mirror image" so the projector will display what is on your screen. If not you will get the purple screen that is standard on the original Leopard OS. You can also google search for power point display problems to find this for yourself.
I use powerpoint all the time in school. You would be wise to save files in powerpoint as a back up, because windows will NOT run Keynote. If you use the better graphics in Keynote, I still advise to save the files in both formats. Not everyone has a Mac. I save the important powerpoints to a flash drive that will run off any USB port in powerpoint..I went ahead and purchased Microsoft Office for Mac because I got tired of having trouble opening files at work where they use Outlook and Vista. It is the ONLY thing I have in the house that is MSFT & would not have it were it not for school/work.
Hope this helped. I am not sure if an iMac has a port or not for the projector. I am sure it can be attached, I just don't know how.
