Keypad lock/unlock

a friend unpgraded and gave me a curve 8520. in pocket the keys get pushed. i cannot find a keypad lock/unlock only a device lock which still allows the keys to be activated. i have not attached yet to my laptop but no doubt the original owner did and so will probably have updated the software. all help gratefully receved.
amazingly i have found a way to lock/unlock the keypad so please disregard this request.

Don't press the two keys at the same time, but instead in succession--one after the other.
What method do you propose to use to unlock the device?

C3-01 Touch and Type Keypad Lock/Unlock Issue,,

I just bought this C3-01 touch and type phone and it got big issue of locking/unlocking key pad..
phone gets locked and even if I click on keylock button and then click unlock (on touch screen) then it never gets unlocked.. (I checked guide it says same thing)
how to resolve this issue? anyone had same issue?

1st Of All, If u just got oyur Nokia C3-01 Device, then You must be having the old version of SOftware in it, maybe v05.68. So In that SW, You have to press the unlock, there is no swipe to unlock,
So, You can clearly see, there is a Button at the Right of your mobile below the Volume Buttons (Right If you Have your Device Screen Facing you, Left If you ahve the Back Battery Cover Facing You)
So Press that Button, you will see your display glow showing " UNLOCK " option in the middle, Press It.
It will get Unlock.
Also, after Unlocking, Before adding anything to Phone Memory (like contacts, messages,etc) make sure to update your Mobile FW/SW to the latest version out there (which is v06.05)
So, If you have a PC with internet connection, connect your Device with USB, and Use Nokia Software Updater (Or Nokia Ovi Suite, whatever you have got Installed In your PC) and Start Updating ASAP, Alot Of Bug Fixes have been Taken Place,
If Still Not Unlocked, RETURN YOUR DEVICE NOW, because your Device is Faulty.

Does the keypad make a beep when its locked or unlocked, Like on the C3?

I just got my new BlackBerry Curve and I truly hate having to use two keys to unlock the keypad. How can I delete this step and simply unlock without having to use two keys at the same time?

8900 Keypad Lock refuses to Unlock

I use A BlackBerry Curve 8900 I had to shut down my phone and when I tried to pwer it up the keypad lock was activated . I have tried to unlock it using the lock key and also the * key but both dont work. I have also tried doing a hard reboot ( removing the battery and then turning on the phone. This has not worked either. Is there anywya to bypass the keypad lock   or wjhat do you suggest that i do -and also can the keypad lock be deactivated.

Hopefully you haven't friend something inside it yet.
It sounds like what I have seen multiple times on a device with moisture damage.
Even sitting on a bathroom counter during a hot steamy shower or bath can cause keyboard and trackball problems UNTIL properly dried out. It really is more common than you think.
1. Remove the battery immediately!! Do not attempt to turn on your BlackBerry.
2. Let the device dry in a warm, dry place for 3 to 5 days* (see below)
3. DO NOT "check it each day" by placing the battery in. Leave it be to dry completely. This takes time. Replacing the battery to check it can only damage it more (moisture + electrical current = disaster).
4. If the device is warm after the drying period, allow it to cool to room temperature before placing the battery back in.
Suggestions on drying your BlackBerry in a warm place (open, with the battery out):
*Place the BB in a container of dry UNcooked rice, and then you might also place it in any of the locations mentioned below.
*On top of any dry heat emitting electronic component: TV cabinet or CRT, LCD, cable TV/Satellite converter box or plasma monitor
*On the dashboard of your car on a sunny day

I cant see keypad lock option or icon anywhere in my 8520

Hi,
I just upgraded OS5 on my 8520 but after upgrading I can't see keypad lock option anywhere. Before there was keypad lock icon in menu but its just vanished now and I even checked all the folders its nowhere. How can I get it back? Please help me.

E71 300.21.012 upgrade issue with keypad Locking

I applied this upgrade (the *#0000# commnand confirmed it). After that I noticed a most annoying change - the phone either doesn't lock itself at all (when I set both keypad and phone autolock to none), or applies both the keypad lock and the phone autolock, even if I set the keypad lock to None and only the phone autolock to some period. Its cumbersome because one has to go through two unlocking procedures to unlock the phone...! first the "Now press function key" and then the secret lock code...
the bug is that the E71 ignores the "none" option in the "keypad lock" option whenever the phone autolock option is set too. Before the upgrade, it didn't.

i don't use the phone lock feature at all so i don't know if this behaviour was the same with the previous firmware version. i have tried it just now and yes you have to press the function key before entering the phone lock code. that is not the key lock function. i have set the key lock function to off. so it seems that pressing the function key before entering the phone lock code is the normal behaviour of the phone lock function. or at least it does it on my phone.
try and have both key lock and phone lock functions on and you will see the difference.

2310, minimum time delay for keypad lock

Hi,
I have a 2310, Virgin variant.
I can set an automatic keypad lock, but the minimum time delay is 10 seconds, and I want it to lock after 4 seconds. When trying set it to 4 seconds I can enter 4 seconds as my preferred time delay, but the handset just reverts to ten seconds. I can set it to time periods longer than 10 seconds without any difficulty. Is this normal?

NOKIA N95 Auto Keypad locking problems

The N95 has an auto keypad locking system, every time the phone is closed, the keypad locks automatikally, and it is impossible to use any kind of key. Ypu have to open the phone in order to auto unlock the keypad.
Is it possioible somehow to switch off the auto keypad lock on N95?

Nokia X6 Keypad Lock Button Broken

Can someone help? I have had my X6 for just under 6 months and the keypad lock button has snapped off. I have a protective cover on the phone and screen cover and have to admit that when I got the phone, I though it was a bad design and would eventually happen. How do I get it repaired? Is it something my service provider is liable for?

This has just happened to me, I have sent it to my service provider. They said they have not heard of this fault but I think they are lying. This is the third time I have sent my phone to the company and if they replace it it will be my 3rd new X6.
I have had software malfunctions, calling and testing problems and now the unlock slide key falls off. I have been very disappointed at the nokia X6 and I will not buy another touch screen phone made by Nokia. I will not be paying for this repair as I see it as a design fault by the manufacturer.

N95 keypad lock, screen stops updating?

When running a sample application that moves a ball around the screen and the keypad gets locked, the application freezes and the screen dims. When the keypad is unlocked, the app continues from the point it left. I can't find an explanation anywhere on the behavior of the phone when keypad lock is on. I would like to have an app keep running normally without the screen dimming, even if the keypad is locked.
Questions:
Is there any documentation on the behavior of the n95 when keypad lock is on?
Is there any way to keep an application going w/ keypad locked?
Can the backlight be set to stay at the level the application had it set to when the keypad gets locked?
Is connectivity (i.e. bluetooth) also affected when the keypad is locked?

Reboot device by pressing both the home button and sleep/wake (power) buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings (or for network connection issues 'reset network settings').
(no media or data will be deleted from the device, this will only take a minute).

N73 - automatic keypad lock, can I disable the sec...

I know that its possible to set my phone up so that the keypad automatically locks after a period of time. But I seem to only be able to do it by entering a security lock code (which I have). However each time I then want to unlock the keypad I have to enter the security code, which is time consuming. Therefore can anyone tell me if there's a way that I can disable the security lock code or set my phone up in such a way that they keypad locks after a period of time and then when I want to unlock it I just do it manually without having to enter a security code. Once you have it on your PC, install it using Nokia PC Suite (or copy the .sis file over the USB cable directly, or send it over Bluetooth).
You could also download it directly to your phone using the web browser on the phone.
Check also that on the phone this setting is set to "All" (otherwise it won't install on the phone): menu | Tools | Application Manager | Options | Settings | Software installation

E66 Keypad Lock

Hi,
For some reason, the lock keypad function of my e66 disappeared. When I slide the phone close, the keypad won't lock, and when I checked Tools>Settings>General>Slide Handling, Keyguard activation is still turned on. Worse, the Lock Keypad function is also missing when I press the power(red) button. Am I missing out on something or does the e66 have a glitch? Thanks.

Hi,
Try to put the back of your phone next to a magnet just for 1-2 secs only.
This will reset the magnetic mechanism on the slider and will trigger the lock+unlock functions, if you haven't notice your keypad light was also affected by this issue.
After the phone is back to normal, dont put it near anything that has a magnet. e.g. in your bag.

701 side keypad lock broken :(

Yesterday when i was doing text chat suddenly my side keypad lock stopped responding, am not able to lock or unlock using that key. If i push it down its staying down only and if i push it up its staying up not able to even turn on the flash light on with long downward push. I need HELP. has any one else faced this problem ??

It's seems the button is stuck, I suggest you have your Nokia check at a local Nokia Care point. They will take the decision whether to replace it or not.

Nokia 6680 Keypad lock

I have to say having read all the other problems people are having I have not suffered yet, and am a heavy users.
However my only issue is the keypad lock. Am I just being daft or does the 6680 not have an auto keypad lock, only the manual one. I have made NUMEROUS pocket dialled calls, and it is reaching the stage of wanting rid of the phone.
Terrible let down for such a great handset.
I also use a 6230 which obviously does not have this problem.
Is there a software update rectifying this, or any plan to ?

It has a built-in automatic security lock, which requires a code to unlock it.
It doesn't have a built-in automatic, timed keypad lock that operates like the manual lock.
However, there are several (free) autolocking applications you could choose from. Here are two:

TIP: In my Contacts I have as the first entry a contact named just "1" with no numbers at all.
