Keypad scrolling stops in previous tabs when new tab loads a pdf file

Firefox 4, HP laptop, W7. I have several tabs open with html pages loaded. Laptop keypad scrolling works correctly in all of them until I load a pdf file into a new tab. The keypad scrolling works correctly for the new tab containing the pdf but stops working in the previously opened tabs containing html files.
My other HP laptop also runs Firefox 4 but has Windows XP as its operating system and does NOT have ths problem. Could be a W7 problem?
Thanks, Barry

You get that problem if you select the Firefox program to handle a file if you get an "open with" dialog.

  • Firefox crashes when tryin to load a PDF file with Adobe 8

I've gotten this particular core a few times now and I have talked to firefox support. They pointed me to Adobe as they said the core points to a problem with adobe reader / acrobat. I've posted the core report here in order to try to gather more information on what may be causing the issue. If anyone can pinpoint a process or grab some information out of the core please let me know. Thank you.

The PDF auto loads onto our website after being uploaded by SFTP to a shared directory, the latest file is always displayed. Viewing the PDF with adobe or full page works fine. Viewing the PDF within our website is when the crash occurs. I was hoping something in the core would point to the specific reason or what was at fault. I have done many configuration tests up to this point.

  • Safari crashes when asked to load a PDF file

Running Safari 2.0.4 on a Mac Pro. When a URL points to a PDF and I try and open it, or when a mail message has a url to a PDF, Safari crashes without a message other than the "Would you like to report this to Apple"? Any ideas? I have tried resetting Safari and getting rid of the preferences.

Thanks for the reply. It turns out that Acrobat Professional 8 was also crashing so I guess Safari was using the Adobe plugin. I had to de-install Acrobat, re-install 8 and imediately apply the 8.1 patch and all is well now.

  • How do I stop firefox from switching to new tab when opening bookmarks in new tab

When I open a link in a new tab it does not switch to it automatically. I had to reinstall firefox to stop it from switching to new tabs automatically since the option being unticked didn't stop it from happening anyway. Now only when I open a bookmard in a new tab it still switches to the new tab and I do not want it to. Why is it doing this with the option unchecked and a fresh install with no add ons of any sort? And how do I make it stop?

Try to set the Boolean pref <b>browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground</b> to <i>true</i> on the <b>about:config</b> page.

  • FF hangs, does not launch ,hangs when new tab opened.

FF hangs when launched and when new tab is opened , same is the case when launched in safe mode ,I have reinstalled the browser but the issue persisits.
EDIT: Found a folder on my desktop "old firefox data"

Previous versions of Firefox used to cause web pages to hang, freezing everything. Firefox 15.0.1 has gone one step further /
It hangs immediately, as soon as the welcome message ( and the picture showing a kind of crop circle) appears.
This means having to Force quit... I have done just that ( and relaunched ) three times, without success. I've also trashed FF and reinstalled it three times. No joy.
There may be a "fix" of some sort, but it shouldn't be necessary : Safari, Chrome, Opera, Camino, and SeaMonkey work fine "straight out of the box". So why not Firefox?
Besides, a "fix" would be impossible since I'd have to launch FF to apply it, and as I said, it hangs/freezes immediately.
    I'm using a Mac, system 10.6.8.

Did you have the Google Toolbar installed?

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Safari favorite icons blinking, blurred like double vision, when new tab activated - new behavior.

The favorites on tool/task bar work, just not the favorite icons on opening page of new tab

    It has resolved itself!

  • Somtimes Firefox loads a blank page; the Tab says "New Tab" and the URL is always "about:blank". What's up with that?

Using Dogpile, I search and a list of URLs comes up. I select and click on one and Firefox opens a new tab. It responds promptly with a blank screen. The Tab says "New Tab" and the URL says "about:blank". The last one came up slowly in IE and turned out to be nothing more than a large pdf. Can you help me figure out what is happening and how to fix it, please? It is happening far too often. Running the virus, etc. software has not stopped this problem. Thank you very much for your help! Hutchy

Are you launching Pages from an icon in your Dock? Installing the update does not change the Dock icons & it does not remove the older versions. Go to your Applications folder & launch the new Pages from there.

Could some one give help and let me know where I can probably find the settings option that allows me to change and switch to previous situation where it was possible to decide time to time how to proceed either opening the file or saving it ??
    Thanks in advance

    What is your operating system?
Open a PDF from where?  If online, in what browser?

  • Why do I get only a black screen when I try to download PDF files?

Why do I get only a black screen when I try to download PDF files?  I have the latest version of Adobe Reader.
This problem just started a few weeks ago.
I am still using Snow Leopard.
I have tried using Firefox instead of Safari, but still get the black screen.

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
