Keypad & trackball remain illuminated when powered-off

I've had the pearl for 18 months with no problems.  Suddenly the keypad & trackball will remain illuminated all the time, even when powered-off.  This rapidly drains the battery.  I've performed a hard and multiple soft resets and removed and cleaned the trackball-- no luck.  Everything works fine.  I appreciate any suggestions?

When powering off my iPod touch, any application (facebook, viber etc)installed using App Store won't work again
    How to solve this issue?

Try a hard reset first. Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If still no luck, try downloading and installing a new app from the App Store.  Doing so has cleared the issue up for several users.

  • Saving Place When Powering Off Ipod Touch

When I turn off my ipod touch completely it always loses the song I was last on. This does not matter if I am playing a specific album or shuffling all songs. My other ipods (nano, mini, shuffle) always keep the place even when powered off. Is there a way to get the touch (2G) to save its spot?
I note it does save it if I only put it to sleep and not power off completely. if I am not using it for a couple of days, should I put putting it to sleep or powering it off?

The iPod is telling you to connect the iPod to your computer with iTunes.  When connected, iTunes should open and tell you what to do.  If it does not, you want to do is to restore the iPod from backup.

  • Messages from iPad not Synching with MacBook Pro when Powered Off

I have the new MacBook Pro (2 GHz, i7, purchased Feb 2014), 15" Retina running OSX 10.9.4.  I also had an iPad3 (Retina) but just upgraded to the new iPad Air 2 weeks ago.  I do not have an iPhone, but that's next.  I have used the same iCloud account for all devices.
    The issue:
Messages (or message conversations) that I have when using my iPad Air are not synching with the MacBook under certain conditions.
    1) If my MacBook is on, there is no issue. Messages between devices (whether being composed on the iPad or MacBook) synch instantly between devices.
    2) If my MacBook is sleeping, most (but I do not think all) messages sent from my iPad will synch with the MacBook when it wakes up from sleep.
    3) If my MacBook was powered off and I had message conversations using my iPad while the MacBook was off, these messages do not synch with my MacBook after I turn it back on.  BUT, this depends:
         a) if I power on the MacBook shortly after (5-10 min) I had the message conversation on the iPad, sometimes these messages on the iPad will synch with my MacBook after I power it on.
         b) If my MacBook was powered off for several hours after I had a message conversation on my iPad, and then I power on the MacBook, these conversations are not synching on the MacBook at all.
i.e Assume MacBook is powered off.  I have a message conversation on my iPad at 4:30 PM.  If I power on my MacBook at 4:35 PM, the message from my iPad synchs with the MacBook.  However, if I power on my MacBook say at 10 PM or the next day, then the message conversation I had on the iPad DOES NOT synch with my MacBook.
Confused?  So am I.  To complicate matters, I did not have these issues while I had my old iPad 3.  I only starting noticing it when I bought the new iPad Air two weeks ago.  I do not know if this is related.
Another issue:  SOME message conversations on my MacBook and iPad air now appear to get out of chronological order.  In fact, on my iPad air, I received a message at 10 AM (message A) and then had several other messages with this person throughout the day on my iPad (at 11 AM, and then 2 PM).  Later that evening around 10 PM, the original message (message A) was received again as a new message on my iPad (i.e. received a new message notification).  Now, message A appears out of order (it shows the timestamp of 10 AM, but it displays after the messages that came at 11 AM and 2 PM).  Since my MacBook was on, these messages synched with my MacBook, but were (and remain) in the proper chronological order.
Other iCloud apps (calendar, mail, FaceTime notifications, notes, keychain, Photo-stream etc. seem to be synching fine between devices).  One last observation, when I bought the iPad air and restored it from the backup I made from the old iPad 3, everything restored fine from the backup except for Calendar.  For whatever reason, some old calendar entries did not restore on the new iPad.
I have run a myriad of tests (sending messages to myself from both my new and old iPad (even created a new apple ID from the old iPad)) with my MacBook sleeping or powered off for varying amounts of time in order to provide the information above.  I also reinstalled the operating system on my MacBook but this did not resolve the issue.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I would be extremely grateful. I have been in contact by phone with Apple support and have them baffled as well, but they are doing their best to help.
    Thanks,
    HankSTL

  • Network knows where your phone is when powered off?

An AT&T rep just told me that the network "knows" where your iphone is even when it is powered off. The particular issue is when traveling out of the country. Just powering off the phone will not ensure that you do not recieve charges. If someone leaves a voice mail or text message and you do not have an international plan then you will get charged even if the phone is powered off.
    Really?

I meant perhaps she misunderstood. Not having been part of the original conversation, I am not qualified to judge exactly what happened. I am, therefore, inclined to try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt.
Of course if you have been in the "wireless business" for 20 years, you would already have known what I told you, right?

  • T500 - Intel 82567 network disconnets when powering off the display

Hello! I'm having the problem that when the display powers off, my network connection drops, and then reconnects again at 10mps (when the screen is still powered off) When the screen gets powered on again (e.g. by using the mouse), the networkcard disconnects again and reconnects at 100mbps. This seems to be some sort of power-saving function, but its rather annoying and seems useless. Is there a way to disable this? Thanks for your help Dieter

Is this click coming from your speakers, whether the built-ins or attached? I ask because most of us seem to get a click or pop when the Mac wakes from sleep, etc. Isn't all that loud on my system and doesn't bother me, but some folks really dislike it and have mentioned it (read moaned & complained) extensively in the past. Seems like maybe the sound chip or something 1st powering up.

  • Saving of the Volume-Level when powering off S750

Hi, i want to use the s750 in combination with a system that powers-off my monitor, s750, etc when my pc will be shut down... My question now is: will the s750 save it volume level after it is powerd-off? (by tuning it off OR disconnecting the power cable when it was turned on). And does it automatically turn itself on again when i connect the powercable again or do i need to turn it on manually then? (if the power cable was disconnected while the s750 was powerd-on)
Message Edited by Alexander01 on 04-20-2007 09:43 AM

When plugged in it starts in standby mode, so you have to turn it on at the remote/pod. Annoyingly when you unplug it it forgets the volume settings (including the individual satellites settings). It remembers the settings when going to/from standby (ie pressing the pods power button).
Its especially annoying because when I had one i measured its power usage. I cant remember the figures now, but it was high enough in standby that I started turning it off at the plug.

  • Quiet, high pitched squeaking sound when powering off 60D?

I just got a 60D body yesterday, and I just noticed a high pitched, very quiet noise that happens for a second or two when powering the 60D off. My Rebel t3 does not make this noise so I was wondering if it's normal?

    TCampbell wrote:
That's the noise of the piezoelectric cleaning system. It vibrates the low pass filter (located just in front of the sensor) to shake dust loose.
In some cameras it sounds like a couple of squeaks. My 60Da makes the same noise. No reason for concern. Some cameras start out not squeaking when new and end up making the squeak later.
The good news is I have never heard of it actually being a problem.
No, the good news is that the OP is still young enough to be able to hear a squealing sound at such a high frequency!

  • Blue screen when powering off

I recently purcahsed a one year old Lenovo 3000, it had Windows XP installed and I upgraded this to Windows Vista with no problems. I then renamed the laptop and deleted the previous owners user files and that's when I had a problem. When I power down the laptop I get a Blue Screen saying something about a dump and saying it was doing something to protect my PC ?  I found some kind of fault finding log and it mentioned something about the pc's name and also something about being unable to access a certain user file. I changed the computer name back to the original one and unerased the original user file but I still get the Blue Screen when powering down.
Is it possible to get a replacement software DVD that will get me back to square one please, thanks for any help. Dan McLean in Port Glasgow.

This really sounds like shoddy drivers combined with an IRQ conflict.
I suggest you post your IRQ's from System Info, for example:

  • 3gs fast battery discharge even when powered off

I have a 3gs (not jailbroken) which discharges the battery really quickly to the point where it cannot be recharged.  It discharges the battery to the point where it won't take a charge, even if fully powered off.  I have replaced the battery twice and upgraded to ios 5, setup as a new phone. Still nothing.  I am out of ideas, is there anyone who can assist please?
    Not under warranty
    Using latest version of itunes

Any number of things could have gone wrong. Dirt or some conductive material could have fallen into the phone and be shorting something out. Any number of components could have been damaged in such a way as to cause a short.
Apple offers a reasonably priced battery replacement program for iPhones. That would have been the best route to take. Since it's been opened, I doubt you'd be able to go that route now.
It's also possible that the battery you got is NOT up to the specs it was supposedly rated for.

  • Mac Mini Get's Warm/Hot to Touch When Powered OFF

Question...Does your Mac Mini become WARM or HOT to the touch especially in the rear and on the bottom when the Mini is completely powered down, but still plugged into an outlet?
I leave mine turned off when not around it for extended periods of time. I don't usually leave any computer on when I'm gone for a while. Anyhow this past Wed. I came home and went to turn it on. It was incredibly warm on the rear side with all the connectors and especially on the bottom, but this was before the machine was even turned on.
The external power supply was warm and there was nothing unusual about that.
This is the new 2.0ghz mini and I've had it for less than two weeks. Do all Mini's get warm like this when they are turned off???? Cause that's really weird.

Please note that I was not quibbling with the characterization of your experiences - the early G5 iMac and iBook logic board issues alone are clear indications that sometimes Apple gets it wrong.
Whether lucky or not, I have not experienced these types of problems with Apple equipment, and along with my own systems I've bought and had responsibility for some thousands of them over the years - along with a fairly liberal dose of various PCs, and a probably similar lineup of earlier systems as you. I've found most to be reliable, and amongst all those, my 1986 vintage SE is still going strong, and one of my favorite systems is a late 1999 first generation G4 powermac which has run 24/7 since it was first unpacked - less a day for some upgrades to be fitted and the occasional update-derived reboot. My first-generation G5 DP has been superbly stable, never failing once, and it's a rare event that I get called to deal with a problematic Mac.
However, no number of positive experiences from others negates the negative you have experienced. The point is that for one side there is almost invariably a counterpoint. I must say, however, that if I had experienced a similar list of issues, I'd likely not have Apple written anywhere on my shopping list for future products - I suppose it speaks somewhat to the nature of the product when it works, that you're still a customer!
But still, all that aside, I would call Apple regarding the heating of the mini. That it might be warm to the touch after being off for a while would be expected, but I don't think it should show any greater signs of heat than that. Sadly I couldn't tell you for sure until early next week, since the one C2D we have is being kept busy! I will ask the user to shut it down at the end of the day however, and check it on Tuesday morning.

  • My battery gets weak when powered off

My battery has been terrible since updating. I have an iPhone 5. I have to charge it several times a day. Last night it was 100%. I powered it off. When I turned it on this morning, it was 60%. I have followed all the tips to save battery but it's not helping.

hey... we had been informed about charge problems since the ios7...don't worry about..but i suggest you to get a battery test to apple store ..there get results if your btry is defective or your ios involved to that problem...if ur btry is defective and you are in the first year warranty...the btry will be replaced charge free...

  • Keep MacBook on adapter when powered off?

We've had my daughter's new Macbook for about 6 days now. We've never owned a laptop before and right now it's still getting minimal use. When we brought it home, we charged it up and for the most part, it has rarely left the house. We put it to sleep if it's not being used for a couple of hours, but if we know it won't be used for most of the day, we just shut it down. It's also shut down overnight.
Whenever it's home we have it connected to AC power so as not to use the battery if we don't need to. It's "plugged in" whether it's powered on or not. But as I read some of these threads, I'm becoming confused as to whether that's such a good idea. When we bought it, the lady at the Apple Store said something like "it's not like a cell phone where you have to run it down before you recharge it. Just plug it in unless you need to use it as a portable."
As I said, we're brand new to the portable thing, although we've had Macs for years. I'd like to start off on the right foot with this thing, so we get as much life out of it as possible.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi formerly Don,
You'll find some basic useful info on this at http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html and http://www.apple.com/batteries/
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86284 is worth reading , too.
You will find more comprehensive information , though, at http://www.batteryuniversity.com/parttwo-34.htm
Generally its not a good idea to keep a Lithium Ion or Lithium Polymer battery on the charger continuously, though the ideal" trade off depends quite a bit on your general usage pattersn, whether you are storing the computer for a prolonged period of time, etc etc.
    Cheers

  • K1 Tablet loses Wi-Fi connectivity when powered off/powered on...

My K1 tablet seems to lose W-Fi connectivity each time I power it off and later on again. Specifically, when I open the Google bwoser I receive a message that it can't locate the URL I wish to navigate to. I then have to re-establish connectivity with my router. A minor inconvenience, to be sure, but I didn't used to have to re-establish connectivity. Any suggestions welcome.
    Thanks.

I believe my K1 is running Android 3.0 that was orginally supplied. To be perfectly clear the K1 no longer seems to reliably hold the setting that tells it to connect to my network when it is powered on.
