Keys act as if they are stuck

I know keyboard problems have been a common issue with some of the original MacBook Pros, although I have never had any trouble until this afternoon. There was some debris on my keyboard and I wiped it off, foolishly without turning it off first. When I returned to it, the keyboard was suddenly not working. After some trial and error I determined it was acting as though the Command key was being pressed. For instance, pressing "H" would hide a window, pressing "M" would minimize, etc. I tried just pressing the Command key repeatedly and while that seemed to "unlock" the keyboard at least in TextEdit, when I would then go to my browser and try to resume what I had earlier been doing on the web, it would revert to its earlier behavior.
My keyboard is not exactly clean; in fact, if it were possible to do myself without totally messing something up, I would take off the entire top plate and clean the keyboard AND the speakers, as they have some noticeable debris in them as well. Still, the fact that this happened just after I wiped down the keyboard makes me think this was a matter of my having inadvertently pressed some combo of keys that locked something up. It does not appear that any keys are ACTUALLY stuck.
A cursory search of the web didn't yield more than a handful of people with the same problem, and none seemed to have found a solution that works for them that would also work for me. I don't think this is a software issue, as the computer works fine with a USB keyboard plugged in. I've tried resetting the PRAM with the USB keyboard attached, and that didn't work. I've also inspected all the keyboard and mouse settings, and all seem to be set to the defaults.
Has anyone else encountered this problem and have a possible fix for me I haven't already tried? This computer has just gone out of warranty, and the nearest Genius bar is two hours away from here. I'd love to get it fixed myself if I can.

Try a vacuum hose with a brush on the end. Run the hose over the keys & speaker holes.
You can also try compressed air to loosen the debris.
If you used liquid to wipe off, I would let the computer dry up for 48 hours before using it again.
Since the Apple store is hours away, try an AASP http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304398
Your only other recourse is to take the keyboard apart.

I have several apps that are not updating, they are stuck saying "waiting".

    Are you downloading music?
Check by going to iTunes (on iDevice) > downloads and then remove the one that is trying to download, this will then make the others download and when they are finished, the apps will update/install

Hi tried to update several apps at once and now they are stuck on installing.I can't open or delete them. Any suggestions ?

Here are a number of things that have worked in the past that you can try. If you already tried something in here, just ignore it.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

    Hi,
I'm using 10.0.7. It's like snapping won't turn off. Instead ,if i use the keyboard to nudge the clips, there's no problem. I am using that at the moment.
    1. when i try to drag
    2. when i nudge:
    3. snapping is off.
    Thanks,

  • Unable to move random keyframes! They are stuck!

    I have CS5 (10.0.2.4) on an Intel Core2Duo with 6GB RAM, Win 7 x64 - I am trying to animate .pdf's
I have over 250 layers (all  .pdf), but when I am animating I take only one or two into another  Pre-comp (but not every layer is being animated)... my Pre-comps only  have up to 6 or 7 layers, but I am not sure if the other 200 layers, and  multitude of pre-comps are somehow affecting it...
The problem seems to happen with random keyframes... it won't be all the  keyframes of a property, just 1 here and there. Like right now I am  working with adding a Glow Layer Style, I have 5 keyframes set on the  Glow size, but one of them is immovable, and won't even turn yellow on  click! If I double click it, it'll bring up the property window to  adjust the value, but I can't move it in time.
anyone know of any suggestions, fixes, or troubleshooting?

This issue may relate to time-remapping and/or having scaled the keys in time (eitehr in the graph editor or by holding down Alt while moving). Then they may end up at odd fractional times and get stuck. Though, in all honesty, the last time I heard anyone report such issues was way back and they actualyl should long be fixed. Anothe potential problem, also related to fractional time may be that you actually have 2 keys in the same place. So as a minor, zoom in real close on the keys and check that. Zooming may also generally get the moving, even if they are only single keys... Might boil down to dispaly issues then....

  • When I try to update the apps on my iPad 2 and iPhone 4 they are stuck in waiting.

When I try update my apps on my iPad 2 and iPhone 4 they are all stuck in waiting.
    I have tried:
    restarting my device
signing out of the store and restarting the device and signing back in
    reset all settings
    double taping on "waiting" apps
All my softwear is up to date. I know that apps only download one at a time but I have checked them all and they are all in waiting. I am connected to wifi.
    HELP!

This is strange, but it may be a fix for my problem. These are the steps I took to possibly fix my problem. Before trying this I noticed that not only are all apps that are being updated listed as "Waiting", but new apps being installed were also listed as "Waiting".
I unselected "Sync Apps" in iTunes on my Mac. A sync automatically started and all the apps, other than the standard apps were removed.
I selected "Sync Apps" and chose just one app to install. I chose iBooks because it's an Apple app and because there is significant content associated with it through my purchases. The iBooks app installed without issue.
I selected a larger group of apps to install (basically all those that began with the letter "A"). These apps installed fine and are useable.
I selected all the apps I wanted on my iPad. These apps (113 total) all installed without being listed as "Waiting".
I used the App Store on my iPad and chose one app to update. The app was immediately listed as "Waiting" and when tapped was listed as "Paused".
I removed the app from the iPad and reinstalled it via iTunes on my Mac. The app installed fine and works great.
I accessed the iTunes Store and went to the screen "My App Updates". I selected the same app I tried to update in Step 5. The update work fine.
I synced my iPad and the newly updated app was installed on my iPad without issue.
This tells me that the issue lies within the process that updates apps on the iPad. If the app is updated in iTunes proper on my Mac, the updated app is installed on the iPad without issue.
I've only tried this with one app. I will now update all the apps on my Mac via iTunes and see if the newer versions install correctly on the iPad after syncing.
I hope this helps other people having this problem.
    Jim

You can try any or all of these suggestions that have worked for others in the past .... But ... YMMV.

Trying to download apps but circle just keeps turning and the apps stuck on waiting

If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.

Another thing to try - Turn the iPad Off & then back ON.
    If that doesn't work:
    •  Log out of your iTunes store account.  Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
    • Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
    • After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

  • How to solve the syncing issues of apps downloaded? They are stuck on "loading" and "waiting"

Syncing issues from iTunes to iPad. Apps are showing as "loading" and "waiting"

I had the same issue and tried several options like rebooting, resyncing, deleting and reinstalling apps, restarting the network connection but none of them worked. Eventually I opened iTunes on my iPhone (not on Mac) to find that it had two pending downloads that was stopping the rest of the apps from loading fully.  You need to cancel them by swiping left to right over the listed apps and select cancel/delete. It worked for me.  Good luck!

  • I cannot download apps onto my phone they are stuck on the waiting mode how can I get this fixed I have tried the "reboot" and also tried logging out of my app account but it is not fixing the problem

I cannot download any apps to my iphone 4 they all go into a "waiting" mode and will not come out of that unless I delete it.  This happens everytime I trie to download something

Any problem downloading apps with iTunes on your computer and installing the apps on your iPhone via the iTunes sync/transfer process?

  • I lost my movies I purchesed on Itunes. Is there a way to get them back, they are stuck on my Apple TV

Is there a way to recover my movies

The good news, if you purchased the music in iTunes, it is linked to your apple id.  You can re-download the content at no additional charge (as long as it is still available in the iTunes store).

  • How do I stop the downloading of ALL 11 EPISODES of Downton Abbey?   I can't watch any of them because they are frozen in PROCESSING.

I purchased Season 3 from iTunes and "downloaded" it.  When I went to watch them, I found they were not fully downloaded, but just a small bit of each episode.  As if each was holding a place for the rest of the episode to be downloaded.
I started watching these, but after each episode, it is as if the iPad info-structure rearranges itself.  My GENERAL settings tell me I've used next to none of my 5 GB storage space.  But when I try to watch a second episode, it tells me I have run out of space.  A few times I was able to find a page that I could EDIT & DELETE the episodes i had already watched.  So I deleted the earlier episodes and was able to finish downloading the next one.  At an agonizingly slow pace.   It took at least half an hour to download a 47 minute video.
Now I can't find the setting page where I was able to EDIT and delete the episodes I have seen.  I have been reading the iPad Secrets Manual, trying to find out what is going on.  Not the free LITE manual, but the paid manual.  It should have been called the LITE manual, as it barely skims the surface.  I have probably messed up my settings trying to figure out what is eating up my hard drive and battery.
Can anyone recommend a good manual that is written for a new Apple user - one that is not written in geek speak.  And can anyone suggest how I can get these to finish downloading?
    IOS 6.1.3
    iPad with WIFI & cellular
    Thank you

If you are seeing 5 gig of storage, then are you looking at Settings > General > Usage > Available (in the iCloud section) ? If you are then that shows how much space that you have available in the cloud, not on the actual iPad (TV shows don't use any of your iCloud allowance).
How much space do you have available on your iPad - it should be shown at at top of Settings > General > Usage, and in Settings > General > About > Available. It looks like the Downton Abbey episodes vary between about 1.8 and 2.7 gig each in HD format, 500 to 800 meg in SD format.
To delete an episode from a series, then select the series on the TV Programmes screen in the Videos app and if you swipe across the episode's name you should get a Delete button appear on it. If they are stuck in the Downloads tab in the iTunes store app and you want to delete them to stop them downloading, then try swiping across the name of it in that tab and see if you get a Delete button

  • My photos are stuck in the editing view

All of my photos are stuck in the editing view and I am unable to return to thumbnail view.  I can move to different "events" and photos, but they are all in the editing view.  When I select view and then go to thumbnails, the options are unavailable.  Does anyone know how to fix this?

I probably didn't explain the problem clearly.
When I open an event I would like to see the collection of photos, in thumbnail version.  Since last night, the photos are in the large view - one photo at a time.  I have to scroll through them to find the photo I want.  This is the case in all of my events and albums.
When I go to the view tab and click on thumbnails, the options are unavailable - they are there, but are light grey and they aren't accessible when I click on them.
When I refered to my photos being stuck in the editing view, I should have said they are stuck in the large view, showing one photo at a time only.
