Keys dead on Macbook Pro Keyboard

HELP! My "Enter", "Delete", "Home/Arrow Left" & "End/Arrow right" Keys are dead.
I have tried to reset the PRAM but it won't reset. Nothing happens, but those PRAM keys work when typing otherwise. The trackpad is acting weird too...
Luckily there is an extra enter key next to the right option key (which I just noticed now!).
I did spill some tea on my keyboard earlier but everything worked fine for hours after that...

I'm afraid I'd be suspecting that the tea did more damage than you imagined. Generally when a set of keys in close proximity have problems it means an issue with the circuit board.
Is there any possibility that your MBP has password protected firmware tuned on? This will prevent you from doing a PRAM reset until it has been turned off.
If you DO have open firmware password protection enabled you can use much the same approach shown in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1352 for turning it on to turn it off again.
If you don't know what I mean by an open firmware password then you probably don't have it enabled anyway!
If not, then perhaps try using an external keyboard to reset the PRAM? (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379 provides useful info about PRAM resets )

Anyone know how to use a 'home' and 'end' key on the Macbook pro keyboard?

I had a pc before, and the keyboard had home and end keys on the keyboard for quickly moving cursor to end or beginning of word or sentence. I can't figure out if there is something like that on the Macbook pro. It would be really helpful. So does anyone know if there is those keys and if so what do i use?

On a smaller keyboard, such as the wireless, or on portables, you can use fn- left arrow for home and fn- right arrow for end.
On a Mac, 'home and 'end' take you to the beginning and the end of document, respectively. Getting to the beginning or end of a line is done with cmd- leftarrow and cmd- rightarrow. Emacs shortcuts, such a ctrl-a and ctrl- e also work in most places, where the app is done right.

If you are still under warranty and/or have AppleCare, call them. Let them deal w/it. Out of warranty, your keyboard may need cleaning. Use a vacuum hose or a can of compressed air to get the dirt out from under the keys. For instructions to remove the keys if it comes to that check out the following websites:

(1) It sounds like you might be using a Spanish keyboard. You should specify this to begin with. Unless you do, the default assumption is that you're using a US keyboard. The advice you received is correct for the US keyboard.

I have had some difficulty getting my InFocus projector to consistently work correctly with my MacBook Pro. Is there a key on the MacBook Pro that toggles the options for projector display? There was one on my last MacBook and my previous PowerBook.

No, there is no longer a key to control external display modes (it's F7 on my 1st gen MBP, but the option was removed along with the embedded numeric keypad in the Early 2008 models). There's not a substitute keyboard shortcut (with the exception of installing a macro player like Keyboard Maestro). Your main option is System Preferences > Displays (as stated, ticking the box to show Displays in the menu bar provides a helpful shortcut).

Macbook Pro Keyboard and Trackpad Not Working

few days ago, my Macbook Pro keyboard and trackpad started to act very oddly.
Basically, the keyboard doesn't work at all. I press down the keys, and all I get is that error message sound. The volume and display brightness keys seem to work, but almost all of the others just won't type anything. it-s like any key command or alt would stay pressed so when i click any key its trying to perform other function instead of just typing the letter. that-s probably the reason why the trackpad is also being very odd. When I first turn on the laptop, it seems to work as normal. I can click on an application, and it opens. But about one minute after the laptop first starts, it's like anywhere I click on the trackpad is a right-click. To open an application, I click like I normally would but instead of opening, a menu pops up as if I right-clicked. This happens in Finder and everywhere else that I've tested (for instance, I can't drag any Finder windows to different positions on the screen, because it acts as if I right-clicked instead of left-clicked), no matter whether I tap or click the trackpad.
I have reset my permissions, but that didn't fix anything. I verified the hard drive and it said there were no problems. A big issue is that I can't do anything that requires me to type in my password, since I can't type anything. I tried to reset the PRAM, but I don't think that it even registered me pressing the Command-Option-P-R keys when I booted up, so i just removed the battery for a while, i am not sure that did anything at all.
i tried to reinstall the os, i had mavericks and i installed a fresh mountain lion but the problem persists. i recently installed virtualbox and the keyboard seems to work right as long as i do not press any of the following keys command, alt, shift, etc.. if i press any of them same thing happens. i found that if i connect a usb keyboard everything works, but when i use the inbuilt keyboard the problem is back and a i have to connect disconnect the usb keyboard to be able to type or use the trackpad normally.

i would let the pros do it. ive dismantled my mbp before and its a pain with all the little parts. you basically have to remove everything from the bottom up (logic board, ram, all cables, cd drive) to get to the keyboard.
how much junk you got under those keys? the space between the metal and keys are small, unlike a pc laptop (though most pc laptops have easier keyboards to remove) .

Question using numpad key commands on MacBook Pro

Hi, I'm using a MacBook Pro which does not contain the imbeded numpad. I am always using these key within Logic. Does anyone know a workaround for this or would I have to remapped certain keys? Many thanks.

Previous Mac laptops had the numpad inbedded in the keyboard, but now it is no longer there. I'm trying to find out if there is a way to map these keys on a MacBook Pro, and if so which keys there are. In Logic, the numpad is a very important feature for me. Thank you for any help on this...

Some coffee got spilled on my MacBook Pro keyboard

Some coffee got spilled onto the keyboard of my MacBook Pro keyboard (it's the newest model), when it happened I turned it off immediately and quickly turned it over to have it drip out of the keys. I blow-dryed the keys with cool air and let it sit upside down for almost five hours. I went to turn it on and it started working fine. Is there a possibility that my laptop got liquid damage if it's turning on fine? Should I take it into an Apple Store to double check? There isn't one near me so I'm trying to avoid a trip if I can.

Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service ASAP. You are not qualified to handle liquid spills on a computer.

only part of my macbook pro keyboard backlight works , all settings and f6/7 keys work ok but only a triangle in the centre lights up, so the rest of the keyboard is dark.

It is likely a hardware defect. If you bought it in May of 2012, it is still under warranty. Take it back to the store or mail it in to be fixed.

OK, some more info.
I have re-installed os/x and applied all of the updates.
I have tried to migrate my existing accounts and the problem consistently manifests as below:
1. In a new user account, I can log in and use the keyboard then logout
2. If I log in to the migrated user account, the non-numeric keys on the keyboard do not work. If I then log out, and try to log in to another account on the same machine, the non-numeric keys continue not to work.
This would seem to suggest that as the profiles being migrated are on a machine with the same version of up to date OS/X, the issue lies with either the Macbook Pro (other people have also had keyboard problems) or with the migration assistant not working properly given that the current profiles work fine on another mac.
Any more ideas anyone?
