Keys on keyboard dont work

Hi,
the following keys "0", "O" and "P" don't work all the time. I have to press really hard.
Can anybody help me (questionmark)
thank you

I have tried it on another Mac and it does not work there either.
That would indicate that the fault is within the keyboard itself, and is not a software issue, meaning there is no setting or instruction through the OS which can fix it.
You will probably need to replace the keyboard.
If the computer is still under warranty, and the keyboard is the original, it should also be covered. If you have AppleCare on that machine, that may cover its replacement.

  • Macbook pro 15" mid 2010 i spilled water on keyboard now it wont power on if the battery is connected and the keys on keyboard doesnt work it works fine with no battery and external keyboard if i order a battery and new keyboard will every else work again

If you have records that show that you've taken your MacBook Pro in for a year to fix the machine, I would escalate the problem to Apple Customer Relations - unfortunately I don't have a number for Spain.
It would only seem logical to me that if you've been trying to have the machine repaired during the time that the 'recall' was in effect that you should be eligible for a new logic board. But only customer relations will be able to make that call.
Good luck - take the issue as high up the food chain as you can and see what happens.

  • KEYBOARD DONT WORK IN WIN 8.1

I have a Qosmio x775-SP7102L, the keyboard dont work after i upgrade to win 8.1, the device manager have a CODE 19 error,
i try to find a driver for sp/2 standard keyboard for win 8.1
    please someone help!!!!!

    Microsoft suggests you :
    Uninstall and reinstall the driver
Uninstall the driver from Device Manager and scan for new hardware to install the driver again.
In the device's Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Uninstall. Follow the instructions.
    Restart your computer.
Open Device Manager, click Action, and then click Scan for hardware changes. Follow the instructions.
Note You may be prompted to provide the path of the driver. Windows may have the driver built-in, or may still have the driver files installed from the last time that you set up the device. However, sometimes, it will open the New Hardware Wizard which may ask for the driver. If you are asked for the driver and you do not have it, you can try to download the latest driver from the hardware vendor’s website.
Revert to the most recent successful registry configuration
The Last Known Good Configuration feature is a recovery option that you can use to start your computer by using the most recent settings that worked. The Last Known Good Configuration feature restores all the registry information and driver settings that were in effect the last time that the computer started successfully.

  • Parts of keyboard dont work in CS4 (enter and arrow keys)

Hello all... a really weird problem:
The arrow, enter and tab keys dont work in a new installation of CS4.....
The user cant move objects around via the keyboard arrows, and cant insert an enter or move the cursor around when editing text.
Really weird.... but it looks like these keys are just disabled. They work OK in Microsoft Office applications. So I dont think it is they keyboard physically.
    Anyone seen this before?

Try replacing the preferences. If it's a new install, there's probably not much to lose yet. Hold down Ctrl + Alt + Shift IMMEDIATELY after launching ID from the start menu. You have to be REALLY fast. If you don't see a confirmation dialog, try again.

  • Keys on keyboard not working.

Greetings all, we are having trouble with several keys on our keyboard not working. First it started with the ENTER (non numpad) key not working, shortly followed by the TAB and CAPS LOCK key.
Any clues as to what caused this and how to fix it? It's the keyboard that came with the iMac. I've already tried unplugging it and plugging it back in.
    Thanks.

None of my left-hand-side modifier keys work (escape button right down to the control button)... problem started when i was using adobe indesign cs3 and now those keys work in any program.
I am having a similar problem, although in my case these keys do not work in conjunction with the "W" key. For example, command-W only works with the right-hand command key, and to turn "w" into "W" I must use the shift key on the right-hand side as well. This machine is less than a week old, and I have Adobe CS2 installed. Have you found any soulutions?

  • Some keys on keyboard not working.

    Hello,
I´ve pushed lots of buttons at the same time on accident. and now for some reason, some keys are not responding. I´m pretty sure it´s not broken cause i didn´t push it hard, just a normal push.
    ? button is not working
    : button is not working
1, 3, 4, 6, 7 and 9 keys on the right side of the keyboard are not working. (258 working fine)
it´s pretty strange because when i pushed a lot of buttons it weren´t those buttons on the right side of the keyboard. i didn´t even touch them.
So i think i did an keycombination on accident or something. It also has nothing to do with the language of the keyboard cause that´s all fine.
I´ve tried the keyboard on my macbook, mac pro and even a windows pc. it does the same thing on all 3 computers.
It´s an apple wired usb keyboard.
    Does anyone know a solution?

i don't think it's damaged, i just pushed a few buttons at the same time, i don't think that can give damage to your keyboard. its not like i slammed it. i just pushed it slightly, if that means it can be damaged then it already would be broken because i type on it every day.
I can understand your frustration.  But there is no way any key combo you might have done would affect more than one computer.  I suggest you take it to an Apple store or other shop for them to test.

  • Can't sign in because many keys on keyboard not working

Am able to enter first four letters of my password but when i type the fifth = nothing happens.  Nothing happens with the keys starting with Q and ending with O.
(P works) None of the numbers except 0 work..

A harmless bit of voodoo to try is
    Resetting NVRAM
    and
    Resetting the System Management Controller
But, chances are, your keyboard or related electronics is broken and needs to be taken in for repair.

  • Z key on keyboard not working

Recently cleaned my keyboard with a multi-surface cleaner and cloth (which I now realise was a bad idea). Initially the Z key would stick, but now the Z key doesn't work at all. To resolve this I have flipped the key off and cleaned thoroughly with 99.7% pure Isopropanol. I have also done the obvious disconnect/reconnect the keyboard, powered the Mac off and back on.
It's a Mac Bluetooth keyboard, and I know I could but a new one for £40-50 on eBay but I wondered if anyone had any other suggestions, or if anyone knows if Apple offer a keyboard repair service (my apple care product expired on 28th Feb and they want to charge me £25 just to ask that question).
    Any help would be appreciated.

If this is a self administered problem, your Apple care would not have covered you any way.   Apple specifically advise you not to clean the keyboard with a liquid.   I do understand why you did what you did but it seems to me that the initial problem was caused by the multi surface cleaner, whatever that was.   I guess it could have been a small piece of grit initially.
Apple do not have any kind of exchange arrangements or a keyboard repair service unless you were able to take it to an authorised Apple dealer, where they would certainly look at it.
Sorry to seem so negative but the rule is Electronics and Liquids do not happily live together.

  • MousePad & Keyboard dont work under Win7 on Satellite A300-1BZ

    Hi,
I have just installed Windows 7 onto my laptop which is around a year old now but the mouse pad and the keyboard do not work. No lights on the caps lock keys or anything, the only way to get them to work is to press the power button so that the laptop goes into sleep and then press it again to wake it up, this then wakes up the keyboard but the mouse pad still does not work.
I can plug a USB mouse in and this works but I would prefer if the touchpad and the keyboard would just work in the first place!! However if I then restart the computer using the keyboard the touchpad then suddenly works.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks

I have upgraded my Satellite A300 to Win7 and both devices works perfectly.
Have you made upgrade or clean Win7 installation?
To be honest it is a little bit strange. I have installed WXP, Vista and now Win7 on my A300 but touchpad and keyboard worked well all the time.
Have you noticed this immediately after fist start or later?

  • Help! Keys on keyboard not working!

A few days ago I spilled hot wax onto the keyboard of my macbook. I wiped it off as best I could, and everything was working fine! however, yesterday my "t" and "f" keys stopped working, and now other ones are stopping to. I am able to get them to work by pulling off the keys and wiggling the rubber pusher a bit, which fixes it for a while. They also seem to work as long as I hold down on the key for a bit or try pushing it in different places. This is obviously annoying, and I am wondering how i might (cheaply) fix this?
    Thank you!

Contact Apple using expresslane.apple.com if you are in a country that supports it or call the appropriate phone number on this page. Alternatively carry the MacBook in to an Apple retail store or service provider to ask for an estimate.
