Keyword database

Due to a virus attack my hardisk has been replaced by a new one, and my Adobe Design Premium CS3 has been replaced by CS4. My Photpshop picture gallery was fortunately stored on an external harddrive. A big effort has been put down in giving keywords to thousands of pictures. I was of the impression that these keywords were stored together with the pictures, but this seems not to be the case. I assume the keywords and the Bridge database are at my previous harddisk. What is the name and location of this database? The data may be recovered.

You have some strange occurances, and the only other thing I can suggest is to reset your preferences.  You may have a contaminated file somewhere that is preventing full operation.
To reset Bridge preferences hold down the Crtl key and start Bridge.  You will get a reset window.  Choose all 3 options.  You will have to re-index everything, but hopefully it will work this time.
With this new system at each reply there should be a box that says "correct answer" (10 points) or "helpful answer" (5 points).  In addition at the top just above the question there is a line that says "this question is answered".  If you click this then users can see if the solution to question is available, at least in the mind of the person posing the question.
Let me know if you get it up to speed now with the keywords.  Should not be that hard of a process should it?  We bought this software to use it rather than be a computer tech.

  • Importing keyword database into PSE(

I have been using Corel Album for assigning keywords to my digital image collection. I am thinking of getting PSE9 but I am not sure if it can import the Corel keyword database? Appreciate any advice...

No there is no way to import the ixdb database into PSE.What you can try is attach all the keywords into a single image in corel and save the tags to file by writing tags to file through corel. Now if you import the same file in PSE, it will asks you to import all tags. This way tags can be imported.

  • Upgrade keyword database to handle more than 1600 keywords

I have ~3000 keywords in my LR3 catalogue and can only easly access the first ~1600 without having to use the Text search box.
Can the database be changed/modified to cater for a larger number?
    Thanks, Allan

    Hi John,
I had a thread going in  the LR3 forum which gives the background and where I got the ~1600 keyword limitation.
    See ...
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/695937?tstart=0
The specific problem I have is that all my keywords are in a flat structure (no hierarchy) and when I try to access the keywords from the righthand panel in the library I can select the keywords OK down to about the halfway mark (~3300 keywords total). After halfway I cannot select the keywords to get them displayed. The only way to select them is to type in the keyword in the text search box.
I also cannot get the last keywords (down in the XYZ area) displayed in either the keyword panel or if I have the keywords list set up in the metadata dropdown menu.
I am waiting for a LR3 book to come out that will give me some guidance on setting up a hierarchy but as I have ~170k pictures I am not looking forward to recoding the metadata.
    Thanks for your interest,
    Allan

  • Removing keywords from multiple images when the keyword isn't in the list?

So, I know that the method for removing a keyword from multiple images is to select the images, type the keyword in the inspector and press Shift-Return.
However, that doesn't seem to work if the keyword I want to remove is not in the keyword database (i.e. it's not in the keyword HUD).
For example, I deleted the iPhoto keyword group from the keyword HUD because I decided I didn't like that. I've got a bunch of photos that still have keywords like "Beach (iPhoto)". Typing "Beach" Shift-Return does nothing. Typing "Beach (iPhoto)" Shift-Return does nothing.
Adding an iPhoto group back to the HUD and a child keyword of Beach and then Typing "Beach" Shift-Return works, but I can't believe that's how it's supposed to work.
Is that the only way to do this? I've got a lot of those old iPhoto keywords to remove and that's going to be a major pain... there must be a better way.
    PowerMac Dual G5 2.0   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I don't know if this will help you or not but it contains the roots of what you would need to script the removal of unwanted and unlisted keywords.
    -- script begins
    tell application "Aperture"
-- set the target to the "Smart beetles" album at the top level of the library.
tell album "Smart beetles" of folder ""
-- get a list of the images in the album.
set x to every image version
-- move through the images one by one, deleting and creating the appropriate keywords
repeat with i from 1 to x's length
          tell x's item i
-- Note. if the keyword is top level, then the parents value is "".
delete (every keyword whose name is "Australia" and parents is "Location")
            make new keyword with properties {name:"Sydney", parents:"Location"}
          end tell
        end repeat
      end tell
    end tell
    -- script ends

  • "RAW" and "movie" keywords no longer automatically added

After a recent iPhoto update -- I'm using version 9.3 (650.39) now -- I've noticed that both the RAW images and the movies that I import from my camera are no longer automattically tagged with the keywords "RAW" and "movie".  In previous versions, after I imported a RAW file or a movie from my camera into the iPhoto library, it automatically added the appropriate keyword (I could see the keyword by clicking on the image or movie after the import and hitting the info button).  Now, that automatic tagging seems to be gone, although both those keywords still exist, and my movies and RAW photos from before are still tagged.  Has anybody else noticed this?  Is there a workaround, or does Apple just need to fix this?  Or was it discontinued on purpose?

Same issure here, but it seems to be wider than just RAW and Movie.  I do a fair bit of panoramic photography, so I have the tag "stitched" as a keyword.  When I try to apply that keyword to a photo, the field instantly clears, and the change is not saved.  "Raw" and "movie" are showing the same behavior.  A separate "nature" keyword works fine though.  So, there looks to be a problem with the keyword database?
Upgraded to iPhoto 11 v9.3.1.  Manual tags now showing up.  However, all my recently added RAW files are still not tagged "raw".

  • Search using synonym of a keyword

Lightroom 3.6 and 4: Is it possible to search by synonym of a keyword? It was possible in LR2 (if I remember it correctly) and after LR3 the feature has been gone and looks like it's still not possible. I have huge controlled vocabulary keyword database with synonyms and translations for stock usage and can’t search using synonims. And this is so frustrating!

Actually I don't even tried to search for synonyms in smart collections. And if my smart collection search for a keyword I frequently know main keyword for photos I want to appear.
I need a search for synonyms possibility in Filter Keywords input line. When I assign keywords I'am not always remember main keyword, sometimes it's latin or russian or english synonym.
But I agree the Keyword List filter should reveal synonyms.
If there will be just a main keyword for typed synonym it will be sufficient (it worked this way in LR2).

  • Search Keywords doesn't work on sub-folders

I finally had to migrate from JASC (Corel) Photo Album to Adobe Photo Elements 9.  I had liked using JASC many years ago with the ability to add keywords (I have many) which were stored in a Access database.  With Windows Vista the keywords were stored in both the Access database and in the image file.  Prior to that it would have been near impossible to convert to any album software.  With a recent rebuild of my pc the keyword database in Corel Photo Album no longer worked.  Therefore, the migration to Photo Elements 9.  I like the robustness of Photoshop Elements 9 but .... and this is the problem.
The intent of having keywords on images is to allow me to find any images that meet a search criteria.  After some testing I have found that if I search for a keyword on a single folder I have valid results.  If I search on a folder with sub-folders the search will not find any files that meet the criteria even though I can confirm that at least one subfolder has a file that meets the criteria.
Could my problem be with how I loaded the images into PE9?  When I first started PE9 I pointed it to the folder with the majority of my images (23,000).
    Jerry

    Jerry,
I assume that you are using folder view (Display option). If you switch to Thumbnail view, the search will look at all your images.

  • Upgraded elements 12 to LR 5:  Missing Most Keyword tags

I just upgraded my Elements 12 Catalog to LR 5 catalog on my Windows 7 machine. I followed the instruction listed in the conversion video.
For me the tags are the most important thing I use to Organize my images. I have over 20,000 pictures in my Elements Catalog and each one has at least 1 tag on it. After the conversion, LR tell me there are 13,500 pictures no tags. Furthermore, the tags that survived the upgrade are not linked to all the pictures that they are part of. Ie:  In Elements, I have 136 pictures tagged in Venice, Italy. After the upgrade I see only 1 image even though all of the images are still in the present. When I look at the other images that are in that folder and click "Keywording" there are no Keywords listed for those images.
I've tried to reupgrade my Catalog with the same results. I've tried just giving LR time to load everything. I've rebooting my machine and reopening LR in case that would trigger a read of the Keyword database.  In each case, everything just remained the same.
How do I recover all my tags?  For me the tagging is the most invaluable part of my photo collection and if I don't have my tags in Lightroom then I can't make the switch.

There are increasing number of reports of this happening here in this forum.
    I don't have an explanation.
I suggest you submit a bug report: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family
The alternative procedure (which has its own drawbacks), but is at least worth a try, is to have PSE write the tags to all of your photos and then import the photos into Lightroom. You have nothing to lose except a little of your time.

  • A3 Crashes when Adding Keywords to Buttons

When I added about 12 key words to make buttons in "Edit Buttons Set" I click okay and Boom! A3 crashes. No errors, no warnings, just bombs out! Happens every time, so now, I have to add 4 or 5 buttons and then click ok, go back through that step until I have what I want.

I experience the same behaviour as you all did. Thus far, I noticed that it tends to occur most often when I've just switched libraries and try to use the keyword buttons. Apparently it throws the application off that it needs to access a different keyword database.
Also, I noticed that if i delete keywords from the keyword HUD, but then open the edit dialog in the button drop-down list, the keywords reappear if they were on any displayed buttons.
Subsequent deletion & rearrangement through the dialog then often causes a crash, or at least beach-balling.
    Any ideas thus far, guys?

  • BO 4.0 Oracle connection error

    Hi.
I have a oracle connection in the bo 4.0 .
Universe is ok,and report runs properly in WebI rich client.
But in launcpad i get the following error -
Database error: (CS) "DBDriver failed to load : D:\SAPBusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise Xi4.0\dataAccess\connectionServer\drivers\lib64\dbd_oci.dll (The specified module could not be found)".(IES 10901)
I have installed both 64bit and 32bit Oracle client on the server. This is a 64bit Win 2008 R2 server.
    You help is really appreciated.
    Regards,

    Hi,
I bet this same workflow in  WRC in 3-tier mode from a Client would fail too.  (i.e. using Connection Servers on Platform)
I would encourage you to search for knowledge base articles at location https://service.sap.com/xsearch  before submitting posts.  the keywords " Database error (CS) DBDriver failed to load lib64\dbd_oci.dll " are searcheable terms.
Please take a look at notes:
1619829 - BI 4.x Error "DBDriver failed to load IES 10901 WIS 1090" when creating a webi report from Webintelligence application on Oracle
    and
    1578731 - Database error: (CS) "DBDriver failed to load : D:\SAPBusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise Xi4.0\dataAccess\connectionServer\drivers\lib64\dbd_oci.dll (%1 is not a valid Win32 application.)".(IES 10901)
basically, you need to add ORACLE_HOME in the system environnment variables. Verify that the environnment variable PATH is also populated with the oracle path.

  • LR1 -- LR2: Best practices?

I have LR1 running on my notebook and recently purchased/installed LR2 on the main desktop. My main LR1 datafile on the notebook includes about 20k images on an external eSATA drive. LR data files are on that same external HD.
I only use the keyword/database functions of LR and rarely if ever the Develop, Slideshow, or Print functions. Having read here about corruption issues some have had, I'm wondering what would be the best way to bring these images-- or a copy of them-- into LR2 and be able to go back to LR1 if need be.
Can I just copy the lrcat file to a HD on the new machine, then copy the images to a different HD on that same machine, then fire up LR2 and point it in the right direction?
If I don't bring over the "Lightroom Database Preview lrdata" folder, that would just mean I'd have to rebuild the previews? Or even if I did copy it over, would LR2 "see" the preview files?

    I have Windows XP SP3
I'll probably network the two computers together, but now they are currently stand-a lone
I do have a fast external HDD that I use for backup. The data is backed up.
    Currently nearly 600 folders
I was told by a Computer IT guy to keep all the files on the C-drive as C:\Documents and Settings\Ken Wallace\My Documents\My Pictures\... because this would allow me to easily migrate forward with Vista and beyond. Apparently there are some other benefits of doing this, but I didn't get an explanation. I currently have the files as L:\Data Files\Personal\Photos\... Where L: is another external HDD.
The files that I am working with are a combination of JPG, PSD (Photoshop), and ORF (Olympus Raw Files).
Since I am making the move to a new computer, I just want to do the best thing as far as future upgrades and to make sure that I did not loose any work. The work I am talking about are tweaks to many of the ORF files (white balance adjustments, color correction, etc...), but mostly evaluating the pictures with stars and flags, and adding keywords.

  • How to search all columns of all tables in a database for a keyword?

    Dear Team,
i have an requirement that : i want to search all the columns of all the tables in the particular database based on the specific key word or an free text.
    example :
    table 1: columns data
    empname sam
    empid 01
    table 2 columns data
    deptname sam
    departmentid 10
    table 3 columns data
    organization name sam
    organization id 1
when i search for text " SAM"
it should search me from the entire database, all tables and columns of it and display the result
    output : tablename cloumn value
    table1 empname sam
    table2 deptname sam
    table3 organizationame sam
the example is just an sample not the real data .
please help me with sample code or any link related to it .
    thanks in advance

Hi justin , thanx for the reply
the basic requirement that we required is ,
the user will just type the keyword( value in the coumn) he required and it should search all the tables and columns of the table in the database and i have to show this in the front ent in the table format. here the user will analyse the information based on the search .
it is just like the google search we does( type the keyword in free text) it will display the result.
so for that i have to search entire table and columns in the whole database.
please if any one provides me the solution it will be help full for me.
    thanx in advance

  • Lightroom database - batch assign a keyword

I would like to take a list of images (text file) and tag all of them with a keyword.  As an example, let's say my client just gave me a list of pictures for an album and the picture numbers correspond to a file name (0001.jpg, 0003.jpg).  How can I feed that list to lightroom and assign a keyword to both images.  I'm not looking for a manual solution.  Can I update the lightroom database using a third party SQL tool or is there a way to do this in lightroom.

Simply select them in LR, add the keyword.
If the real problem is selecting them using the text file list, you can cut and paste the list into a smart collection's criterion.
