Keyword Exchange between Bridge CS2 and Lightroom

Hello,
I was was using bridge CS2 to sort my pics with keywords and EXIF and now switched to lightroom. When I imported the pics everything was OK, data were taken over. When I now use bridge to add new keywords they are not recognized in lightroom and vice versa. Since I want to use both programs in the future how can I "synchronize" data like keywords or EXIF ...
I would be VERY glad if someone could help!!
Kind regards from Germany
Stephan

Yes, but as far as I understand this feature exports/imports all your keywords in a list but not the assingments you made to a photo. For example if I have a photo in bridge with people whose names were newly assigned as keywords. Now I open LR but nothing has changed to the keywords of that picture. So what can I do to synchronize the keywords of the pics (newly assigned/added keywords in bridge to LR or vice versa)?

  • Keywords in Adobe Bridge CC and Lightroom 5 not working

I recently upgraded to Adobe CC. We use Bridge and Lightroom regularly to tether while shooting, batch process and search for images. I have noticed that files I have keyworded in Bridge will randomly lose the keywords attributed with them. When we shoot tethered to lightroom we will keyword as we shoot but those keywords do not show up in Bridge. This is a huge issue for us. We have thousands of images and plan on using bridge as a tool for our designers and marketing team to search seamlessly for photos based on keywords. If they are randomly disappearing or not carrying through from Lightroom to Bridge it becomes completely unmanageable and completely out of our hands. And a completely useless tool. Any suggestions?

Keyword list in Adobe system, bridge and lightroom, need standardizing. That's what I feel.

  • Difference between bridge-group and VLAN

    Hi all,
I don't understand very well the difference between bridge-group and VLAN...
Could someone explain me or give me a site which could help me?
    Thx U by advance!

    Khay
bridge-group is used on a router to enable bridging on an interface. In terms of functionality a bridge-group is very similar to a VLAN. For example if you create bridge-group 1 and assign it to interfaces FastEthernet 1/0 and 2/0 and you create bridge-group 2 and assign it to interfaces FastEthernt 1/1 and 2/1 it is like creating 2 VLANs. Devices in bridge-group 1 (interfaces 1/0 and 2/0) can communicate with each other but not with devices in bridge-group 2 (intefaces 1/1 and 2/1).

  • How I can make Bridge CS6 and Lightroom 4 share the same set of keywords in real time?

Can we point to the same file on the hard drive?
What is the current best workflow practice for keyword sync between the two apps?
    Thanks

FYI - Right ON to mention the preferences/catalog settings/"automatically write changes into xmp" (check this box if you are smart), this is serious mandatory knowledge and I got burned by it in the past and lost all edits on who knows how many files, I still have a mess in  folder from it.
To clarify for folks here: This feature (preferences/catalog settings/"automatically write changes into xmp") saves all of your camera raw edits into your file so that they do not get lost if your catalog or computer dies. This was intended to be used for DNG files and is a bit confusing as an xmp sidecar file implies that it is outside of a file ,yet with a DNG file it is unmentioned that the data gets safely stored inside the file for recalling CamRaw edits and metadata - this is the way I have always worked - .NEF Nikon converted to DNG upon import into LR
preferences/catalog settings/"automatically write changes into xmp" was turned off in LR2 and maybe 3 as it does slow your machine down while always saving every move you make but it is well worth it.
If you find that your preferences/catalog settings/"automatically write changes into xmp" feature has never been turned on and want to get properly set up here is one way to do it.
First , turn it on by checking the box : preferences/catalog settings/"automatically write changes into xmp"
Then select the top level of all photos I have a folder called Photography on my drive, you may have to do this to more than one folder ect.
Then make sure show subfolders is ON and LR is looking at all images down through all folders.
Get Ready... select all CTL Aor CMD A then hit save CTRL S or CMD S - then be ready to let the machine work for a couple of hours if you have a lot of images.
This just might save your hiney one day
Thanks to John for bringing this up.

  • CS2 and Lightroom 2

My apologies if this has been answered before but I was unable to find the answer.I would take more time to look for the answer but time is my enemy at the moment and I need a rather quick answer.
I am currently using Lightroom 2 to download, catalog and edit my photos. However, there are some things that I would like to do that I need Photoshop for. This morning I started up my Photoshop CS2 and opened one of the photos (DNG) that I had modified in Lightroom 2 (exposure, etc.) and noticed that none of the modifications were apparent in CS2. What do I need to do to bring the Lightroom modifications into CS2?

Is Lightroom like Elements in that it writes metadata to a database?  If so in elements one would go to file/write keywords and Properties info to Photo.  Might be something similar to get the metadata onto the photo.
Photoshop and Bridge does not use database for metadata.
    Good Luck.

  • I'm trying to understand the difference between Photoshop Elements and Lightroom software.

Does one have things the other does not?

    Hi,
Lightroom is to manage photos and produce derivative images without ever modifying an original file. Its processing functionality has a narrow feature-set covering the most common needs of professional photographers whereas Elements is a simpler yet powerful photo manipulation tool. Elements is designed to satisfy the needs of photo enthusiasts who like to manipulate images.
You can also go through the thread to understand the basic difference between PSE and Lightroom.
    Check if this helps.

  • File size difference between DNG Converter and Lightroom Beta 4

    Hi,
I want to go the all-DNG route and am trying several things ATM. I want my files to be as small as possible, thus I disable previews and RAW embedding and enable compression in DNG Converter. In Lightroom, there are no options at all. What I do get, are pretty amazing file size differences:
Original .NEF as it came from my D70s: ~5MB
.DNG created by DNG Converter: ~1MB
    .DNG created by Lightroom: ~4MB
The very small file size in DNG Converter is the one that bother's me most. I get these small files from time to time. I checked both the DNG and the NEF in Photoshop, and they seem to be identical. So my question is: What triggers these small file sizes? Do I loose anything? Or is the Lightroom DNG converter not as advanced as the stand alone version?
Maybe this helps: I get the ridicolous small files for very dull subjects that tell the computer scientist in me that it should be easily compressable by common compression algorithms.
    Thanks for any pointers,
    Markus

Thanks for the hint! It did make me revisit those files and now I see the reason for the small file sizes: The Apple Finder does note update the file size view once a file was added to a folder. Here's what I did:
Opened a folder full of .NEFs in detail view in Finder.
    Converted them using DNG Converter
Looked at the sizes of the files as they were shown in the Finder window allready open.
Unfortunately, those file sizes are not correct. If I open a new Finder window of the same folder, file sizes are correctly reported as between 3.5 and 5 MB.

  • File format differences between Illustrator CS2 and CS3

Does anyone know the difference between the file format of Adobe Illustrator CS2 and CS3? Is there a document that documents this? Can someone send a link? The reason I am asking is that I have written a plug-in which saves the current CS3 document back down to CS2 so that users who are still using Adobe Illustrator CS2 can open it. However, if the same document is opened by a CS3 user, what objects, constructs or data structures are likely to be lost because the file has be converted down to CS2? Most things seem to be retained and I have yet to find a problem but if yo save manually from CS3 to CS2, Illustrator puts up a warning stating "Saving to a legacy format may cause some changes to your text layout and disable some editing features when the document is read back in". Does anyone have any more detail on this?
    Thank you

There are new features in CS 3 as opposed t CS 2 and the text engine has been improved some what in CS 3. If you have text on a path that is say curved you are going to see a loss in the spacing and way it is oriented. fixed in CS 4.
I forget some of the new features in CS 3 what was not a feature in CS 2 will be flattened when saved back.
Or the feature will simply not be available.

The AI File Format is not publically documented, as far as I know. I'm sure there are plenty of differences between CS2 & CS3's file formats, but you're not likely to find anything official on the subject.
What you lose saving back you're more likely to get help on, assuming someone's actually investigated this. I haven't, unfortunately. I wouldn't mind knowing either if someone has information on this.

  • Difference between bridge mode and routed mode on CSS

    Hi,
Could some one tell me the difference between routed mode and bridge mode.
    Regards
    Neha

    Hi,
    routed mode:
The CSS acts as a router, it routes packets from the client to the server. The server has the ACE configured as default-gateway.
There is a client-side VLAN and a server-side VLAN. These VLANs have different subnets.
    Bridged mode:
The CSS acts as a bridge, it switches frames from the client to the server. The server has the upstream router configured as default-gateway.
There is a client-side VLAN and a server-side VLAN. These VLANs have the same subnet, but different VLAN IDs. The ACE bridges the client traffic from the client-side VLAN to the server-side VLAN.
Bridged mode would be most used in case one cannot change the servers IP addresses, or if address space is an issue.
    Hope this helps.
    Kind regards,
    Dario

  • Compatibility between Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom 5 on a Mac

    Hi,
    A beginners question:
I am about to buy a Canon EOS 1200D Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II Lens. I am currently trying out Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5. I have Ps CS4 and I am thinking of buying Lr 5 in the future after the trial and I want to work with RAW photographs in the main.
Are there any compatibility issues that I should know about with the software versions I have/might buy and the RAW images taken by this model of camera? I need to have the answer(s) to this question before I buy the camera and the correct software.
For your information, I intend using a late 2013 MacBook Pro with a retina screen and 16 Gig RAM.
    Many thanks,
    David
    (Brighton, UK)

The EOS 1200D was first supported in Camera Raw 8.4 and Lightroom 5.4
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
Camera Raw 8.4 is only compatible with Photoshop CS6 and newer
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
So you'll be fine with Lightroom 5.4 or later.
However PS CS4 is not compatible with Camera Raw 8.4 and never will be. So you'll either have to upgrade to CS6 or join the Cloud.
Or you can use the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all EOS 1200D Raw files to DNGs then edit the DNGs in CS4

  • Data exchange between Oracle DB and JD Edwards

    Hi all,
We have an Oracle 10g EE database which we maintain. The financial system is using JD Edwards. We need to provide them some daily information(payments) Also they need to send us some data( payment reconciliation). My questions are:
    1. What kind of interaction is posible between Oracle db and JD Edwards?
    2. What database does JD Edwards internally use? Is in an Oracle db?
    3. Is there an ODBC driver available for interaction?
    4. Does JD Edwards handle credit card payments?
Please, can you give me an answer quick, we need it by the end of today for a proposal..
Excuse my lack of knoledge, but we never worked with JD Edwards before...
    Thank you

#2 All the JD Edwards installations I have ever come across were on AS400 (iSeries I believe is the new name) …their niche on the application software market was the fact that they were running so well integrated with that particular platform. AS400 comes bundled with [one of the many flavors of] DB2 … that is, no extra license required. Oracle has never had an AS400 port … so I doubt you’ll find Oracle underneath your JD Edwards installation.
#1 “some daily payment information” suggests batch type integration and relatively small in scope … all systems/applications have some sort of data loader and there are always ways to get data out into files … so a custom, file-based little integration mechanism could be all that you need. I did work once in such a little project … the JD Edwards specialists in the company did their part of loading and loading on their side … we did the same on the Oracle side … we agreed on file formats, content, schedules, a common/secure drop zone in the network etc. and that was pretty much it. The point is, there must be some JD Edwards people in your company you should get involved in the discussion/proposal.
#3 An ODBC driver for DB2 on AS400 very likely exists … keep in mind though that this means the integration will be at a low level (table level) … many applications expose integration points at the API level (application level). Again, you have to get the JD Edwards people on board.
My last points … if you have Oracle in house then call your Oracle representative … Oracle owns JD Edwards … you may get better answers or re-directs there. Also look if your company has any middleware software already … contact the vendor and see what they have to say

  • Hi does anybody know how to perform roundtripping between aperture 3 and lightroom 3? i can set up aperture to send the file to lightroom BUT i cannot get lightroom to send it back with the just the adjustment (it sends the image as a separate file)

basically, i find the sharpening tool in aperture extreamly slow and would like to use lightroom, just for sharpening.  I then would like to send the image back to aperture as just an adjustment on the original file and not a whole new replica file as the original. can any body give a easy solution? cheers

What you want to do can't be done.  There is no low-friction way to combine image adjustments from Aperture and Lightroom.  There is no way at all to combine them without creating new files.
This was recently discussed in this thread.
Are you using the Edge Sharpening adjustment?  In Aperture 3, it superceded the old Sharpening adjustment, which remains included for backwards compatibility.

  • Data exchange between R/3 and CRM system.

    hello,
how to list the data sources, function modules, user and cust exits through  which the data exchenge happens between R/3 system and CRM system?
do we have any transaction to see the list of the master and transaction data that is exchenged across these systems?
    thanks in advance,

    thanks markus,
but from CRM system we are able to find out only the data exchange that is happening at that point of time.(only the list of tables /function modules that are exchanging the data is listed.)
is there any way to get the information of the datasources mapped between these two systems?
