Keyword exporting...

Well, I just discovered something that I think is a bit of inconsistency.
If i set a parent keyword as a keyword that shouldn't be exported, and I export the image, the parent keywords do not get exported. However, lets say that I'm applying the child keyword to a file that has already been exported or was created outside of LR (a jpg, tif, etc). If I then save those settings to the file the parent IS added to the keyword list.
I know that the option is that that parent keyword isn't "exported" which, technically it isn't... but i think the assumed behavior is that that parent keyword will not show up in the keyword list at all... i.e. when you open an existing file and then save it for another purpose or just write the keywords to the file.
There are times where I want to open a tif into photoshop, make some changes, and then do a "save-as" rather than exporting it. If I do that, the parent no-export keywords will be in the new file. And yes, I have my reasons why I don't want to just export it directly from LR.
I think this behavior should be changed.

When I installed the trial for LR2 I was asked whether I wanted to upgrade my existing PSE6 catalog.

PS I'm impressed with the level of Lightroom team involvement in these forums. I've been a PSE user for at least 5 years and have never received feedback from that team re posts/support calls/feature request/bug reports. I've been a LR user for about two weeks and I've already had Tom and yourself reply to my posts. You've got to be happy with that!

I haven't seen any mention of it, but the keyword exporting bug reported for catalogs imported from LR 1.x also impacts catalogs imported from Photoshop Elements 6. i.e. all Keywords imported from my PSE 6 catalog have "Include in export", "Export Containing Keywords", and "Export Synonyms" properties set to false.
I've reported the bug, but as it seems the same as described in KB 405074 (and more importantly, its fix works for formerly PSE catalogs as well!), I'm sure it will be fixed in the next update.

Keyword export

I am interested in exporting the meta data and keyword information from a series of events. Basically, I'd like to be able to subsequently import this data into a spreadsheet, so I could have a table that presents clip name, duration, keywords, etc. I would like to share this "inventory" with others, as part of a planned collaborative effort.
I've fooled around a bit with the XML export, but the data is not parsed and seemingly difficult to use.
Anybody solved this issue?!

Keyword Export Problem

I have a set of keywords that are set NOT to export.
If I export a file to a folder and do not import that new exported file into LR then when I edit it in Photoshop the keywords contain all the correct items, i.e. all the keywords set not to export are not there.
If on the other hand I export to a folder and then import that file into LR and then edit in Photoshop either by CTRL-E or opening directly from within Photoshop, then I can see all keywords including the ones that had been set to not export.
This is a problem when submitting files to a stock library as I end up with lots of meaningless keywords.

Keyword Export Problems

I have used Lightroom for years, and it is an integral part of my workflow. I have several computers with fully licensed version of LightRoom 3 that I use almost daily.
One one of my machines - an apple imac (about two years old) the keywords assigned to images are not actually in the metadata on export. Since I depend on these for an outside catalog system, it is a real pain to have to go back and manually add keywords that should have been there.
For Instance: A photo of an elephant herd. In Lightroom, in the keyword field I have "asian elephant", "herd", "calf", "bull elephant", "samudra", "tusko", "social interaction", "trunk", "enrichment", "West Yard"
Yet, when i export the image - the only keywords in the metadata are "social interaction" and "herd"
In the export field "minimize embedded metadata" is NOT checked
further "write keywords as lightroom hierarchy" is NOT checked.
This is driving my CRAZY!!!
Any thoughts or solutions?

this sounds like a good answer except that I can't figure out what the "keyword panel" is
In Library view I have the section on the right with "histogram", "quick develop", "keywording", etc
In "keywording" I have a field to enter keywords manually, I have "keyword suggestions", I have "keyword set"
When I right click on the manually entered keywords, I simply get an option to check grammar and spelling, or google search.
So at the moment I am mystified about how to pull up the dialog box in your suggestion. Apparently I need more explicit directions - I do appreciate the reply.

Keywords - Export as Catalog Exports Only Some

I have a fairly large hierarchical keyword list in my main catalog. When I "Export as Catalog ..." some of the photographs in my main catalog, only the keywords attached to the exported images are exported. How do I force Lr to export the whole hierarchical keyword list ?
Why isn't there a an option to ask Lr to do this, like there is one to tell Lr to "Export negative files" ?

I believe you have to export the keywords (a routine in LR) to a text file and import them on the new machine you are taking the partial catalog over to. It is not exactly what you are hoping for but will get you there.

Problem with Keyword Hierarchy Export

Hello All,
I've noticing an issue with keyword export in Lightroom 4.0 64 bit Mac OS. In 4.0, as compared to 3.6, when I select uncheck the "Include on Export" box of a parent keyword not only is that keyword removed from the exported keywords but all parents keywords above it in the heirarchy. For example if my keyword hierarchy is as follows:
Animals
     Vertebrates
          Reptiles
               Turtles
                    Black River Turtle
In Lightroom 3.6 if I was to unckeck the "Include on Export" box of Vertebrates the exported keywords would include:
Animals, Reptiles, Turtles, Black River Turtle
While if I was to do the same the keywords would be:
Reptiles, Turtles, Black River Turtle
Has anyone else exprianced this problem or does anyone know how to return the export behaviour to that of 3.6.

According to this (See B. Warde's response in the thread) http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/keyword_options_no_longer_available_ in_lr4 this was a behavior that was incorrect in 3.6 that has now been fixed.

How to find EXPORT MODE of MEMORY ID with ref to IMPORT MODE of MEMORY ID

HI ,Friends,Iam not able to find Export memory ID with ref to available IMPORT Memory ID in particular SD routine of a program.
Plz let me know how to find Export Memory ID reference program with available import memeory ID as I need to do changes for exiting routine program done by somebody .

As it's an SD routine probably the simplest way is to set a breakpoint on the keyword 'EXPORT' when you first enter the transaction. May need to skip a few but eventually you will come across the correct one. When you do find it I would also suggest placing a comment on the IMPORT statement to say where the value has come from for future reference.

No excise duty for exports

Just so that I don't violate forum rules. I searched this forum for the keywords "Exports Excise Invoice". Did not find a question in the first three pages. So, I am posting mine.

I'm working on a export scenario, I want the excise invoice NOT TO capture excise duty (none of these BED,AED,SED). I am not sure but I think it's called ZERO Duty Excise invoice. In exports, as we all know exports are excise exempted.
There are several items in the invoice(approx 15 items), unfortunately in my case the excise invoice is capturing all of BED,AED,SED for each material and my Excise Duty total is exceeding the total invoice(VF01). Which should not be the case.
Simply put my excise invoice should be similar to my commercial invoice in terms of Net value and each material value and it should print Zero Excise duty for each material.
To achieve my objective can I go to FTXP and for the TAX Code maintained for UTXJ put zero for BED,AED,SED and also make the excise condition types statistical in my pricing procedure.
Is this the right approach?

To make my life miserable, they are using the same Document and Same pricing procedure for other exports scenario where it is mandatory to capture excise and other taxes(can't argue it's their requirement). So the second option of making the tax condition types statistical is ruled out. So, apart from FTXP do I have any other options.

It is nothing wrong capturing ED in export invoice but it should be statistical.
my Excise Duty total is exceeding the total invoice
Check in J1ID > Excise Tax Rate as to what percent has been maintained for those chapter ids. System will calculate based on this assignment only.

A Web Intelligence report is created using images to denote alerts. The report works OK in Web Intelligence but when exported to Microsoft Excel, the images do not display.

Create a simple Web Intelligence document.
Add a blank cell and within that cell link it to an image. (Either set as background for the cell or Image URL.)
Save and export to Excel. The image will not be displayed.

Web Intelligence export engine does not support the export of images to excel.
Resolution
In BI4.0, Web Intelligence export engine does support the export of images to excel.
Workaround 1 :
Most image formats are supported in PDF export. Users may be able to use that as an alternative.
Workaround 2 :
If images are required in the final Excel document, the user would need to recreate those image links manually in Excel.

Unable to Export Spaces

I'm trying to export spaces using WebCenter Spaces Administration but I'm getting this error "Export has failed with errors. Error determining if a scope in the export set has document library provisioned". I don't know where to start.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Create user scott : and make user WebCenter Administrator (Refer Admin guide)
2. Browser Firefox: Login as weblogic and create Group space: testexport
3.Browser Firefox: Add user scott as moderator member to group space.
4. Browser IE: Login as Scott on another browser and edit the group space.
5. Browser Firefox: As weblogic user, try and export.
Cause
The error indicates the group space is or was edited by another user and the user has not closed/saved the edit mode. This can also occur when user goes in edit mode and then closes the browser.

How to identify which user has got the lock on the page ?
1. Login as Weblogic and Edit the page.
2. A message will be displayed who has got the lock e.g.
On TOP of page this is displayed "This page is also edited by:scott"
Unlock the Edt mode:
3. Login as the user who is holding the lock.
4. Re-edit that page and click on "CLOSE".
Solution 2
1. Apply Patch for 11.1.1.4:
Patch:12808858 UNABLE TO EXPORT A GS WHICH IS IN EDIT MODE
Patch does not exist for 11.1.1.5 as yet.

How to copy preferences (keywords, layout ecc.) of Aperture?

Hello!
I'm using Aperture in my PowerMac and now also with the MacBook Pro. Is it possibile copy all the program preferences from one location to the other? Preferences like keywords, export pre-set, toolbar setup ecc.? I know that it is possible export, for example, the keywords but after I need to import in the new location... I preefer a system to take all the setups in one time and copy it.

Or more in general, how to sync the libraies and vaults without one designated master? I have the same setup as you, Desktop (iMac G5), Laptop (MBpro) and a firewire backup device connected to the G5.
How should one go about to keep all the libraries synchronized? If I change something on the MBpro or on the G5 I want to copy the changes to the other computer as well. If I delete stuff on one machine it should go from the other as well. Under Unix one could use tools like CVS to do this, but it would cost quite a bit of disk space, since that software doesn't know about binary files.

Feature Request: Add Remaining Export Options To createKeyword method.

At present, there is:
- includeOnExport
But whats missing is:
- Export Containing Keywords
- Export Synonyms
(I'm talking about the catalog method for creating a keyword)
This functionality would allow plugins that include creating keywords to offer all the same options as Lightroom proper.

How can I share a document with .mov files in it?

I have written an article using Pages and used .mov files. How can I send the article so that it included "playable" videos? When I try to share it publicly it turns the page into a PDF and the .mov become like pictures.

Do you know that the resource entitled Pages User Guide is also for you ?
Searching for the keyword export bring us to page #253 where we may read the description of the formats available to share documents.
PDF don't retain the movies attributes
RTF don't retain them
Plain Text don't retain them
The last format available is Microsoft Word and I didn't know this one's behavior.
So, I did what you were able to do by yourself, I inserted a .mov in a Pages document and exported it as a Word one.
When I opened it in Word, the movie was always a living movie but it's true only for MicroSoft Word. In clones, the movie is just a black rectangle.
It seems that you choose the wrong tool.
