Keyword parenthesis when using Keyword Controls

I am learning about keywords using the Keyword Controls and Keyword Presets, but sometimes when I bring keywords to the middle column, it includes the folder name in parenthesis after each tag. Is this something I should ignore? (It seems to only happen for the default Aperture keywords.) I'm not sure why it is there to begin with.
Also, is it possible to get assigned keywords to export and then translate as "tags"?

No,better not!
The keywords with additional brackets are specialisations of the keywords categories in parenthesis - not parts of a folder.
You seem to have a problem with duplicate keywords; you can check by creating a Smart Album at the top level of your Library Albums, based on keywords; probably when you add a rule "keyword is" you will see a list like this:
Some keywords appear twice ore more often, and the duplicates have a second keyword added in parenthesis.
Typically this happens, if two conditions hold:
you import images that have keywords assigned,
and this keyword is already defined in your Aperture Library, but not at the top level of the hierarchie of keywords, e.g., you have a hierarchie of keywords Animal -> Bird -> Sparrow.
If you import an image labelled "Sparrow", Aperture will create a new keyword "Sparrow" at the toplevel of keywords, and all your older images will be labelled Sparrow (Bird). These two keyword versions -"Sparrow" and "Sparrow (Bird") - are distinct keywords, and you need to merge them.
To clean up duplicate keywords, use the "Keywords HUD". There you can enter any keyword that appear twice at different levels of the keyword hierarchy into to the search field and merge the keywords by dragging the toplevel versions to the lower levels of the keywords hierarchy. Post back, if you need further help on how to do that.
Some of the duplicate keywords in my example have been caused by importing from iPhoto. In this case Aperture appended (iPhoto) to iPhoto keywords, to distinguish them from the keywords already defined in Aperture. Also the predefined Aperture keywords are defined in a herarchichal keywords list; so if you import (or reimport) images with standard keywords, you will automatically create duplicate keywords.

Check System Preferences. I think Control-1 is used by something in the OS now. Switch it off. It's a major p[ain the way the OS is taking over more and more of the keyboard, allowing less options for application use.

I can't remember the steps, but if i'm not wrong, there are many "next" to click, and at the last windows, there is one dialog box with "do not show this message again".Maybe something to do with the registry, to enable to view this dialog box again. Date: Thu, 2 Feb 2012 06:38:24 -0700

LR 3.2 crashes randomly when using keyword sorting

Anyone else have this problem? When I use the right arrow select to sort using keywords, LR crashes and shuts down. Any suggestions on what to do to prevent this?

When you use the "right-arrow" keyword filtering, Lightroom actually takes you to "All Photographs" and enables the Library filter with the keyword you have clicked selected in the filter. In other words, it's the Library filter that crashes your Lightroom, not the fact that you click the "right arrow".

This started in LR 3.0 and was not fixed in LR 3.2. No fixes or workarounds have been found by other users, but the bottom-line seems to be that some images have some corrupt metadata that the Library Filter cannot "swallow". Some users were able to use the filter in certain folders, but never in others (that presumably have pics with "bad" metadata).
Try to enable the Library Filter with filtering by keywords in some of your top-level folders to check if it works in all/some/none.
I would advice all users that can consistently reproduce Library Filter crashes, file bug reports and send their catalogs with a clear description of the problem and steps to reproduce to the Adobe team ([email protected]) for inspection and possibly future fixes.

Visual Studio 2013 slows down + crashes when using Source Control features.

I have spent two full days trying to resolve this issue but no luck so here we go,
I have created a project using Visual Studio Team Foundation Server plug-in in the past. Later on I switched to
Microsoft Git Provider.
Now when I connect to that project in the Team Explorer and double click on the solution to work on it locally it somehow changes the plug in to Microsoft Git Provider automatically and of course I can't
Commit/Commit and Push since I receive following error in the Team Explorer,
An error occurred. Detailed message: Failed to open directory 'C:/Users/.../AppData/Local/Application Data/'
Manually changing the plug-in to the Visual Studio Team Foundation Server
results in a broken Team Explorer as below,
With Settings leading to an empty pane, and also a warning in the Team Explorer's Changes page telling me the message below if I click on Pending Changes...
Microsoft Git Provider is not the current Source Control plug-in. Change Plug-in
And manually selecting the solution from Solution Explorer, right click and
Add Solution to Source Control, leads to never ending hour glass and (Not responding) visual studio.
New Projects
Creating a new project is straight forward, unless I "Add to Source Control" is checked. If so, again never ending process if Microsoft TFS plug-in is selected in the tools and eventually me Ending the Visual Studio task. And a VERY long process
(40+ mins) if I have chosen Microsoft Git but that finishes successfully rather.
New TFS project from Team Explorer
If I create a new project in my Online Web Studio
Click on Open with Visual Studio Link => Opens and connects to a my newly created TFS in team explorer.
Clicking new in Team Explorer under Solutions to create a new solution and bind it to this Repo
leads to straight crash of Visual Studio and restarting attempt of VS.
So I really can't use Source Control from visual studio other than cloning GitHub's existing repo's on Visual Studio and Committing my current Microsoft Git managed projects.
I have attempted
Repairing Visual Studio (no luck in results)
Devenv.exe /setup (no luck)
Trying to scrap the SCC info on my solution then at least it won't get picked up by source control then I can Check it in as a new project. (no luck and the solution picks the Microsoft Git upon opening it by clicking on the .sln file.) I have followed
these steps in this stack overflow answer.
And lots of mucking around like removing my workspaces almost Thousand times and putting them back, binding and etc.
I am really stuck on this and it's holding me back from staring a new project (which is problematic using Adding to Source Control) and unfortunately is dependent on the old project (which is developed under Visual Studio Team Foundation Server Plug-in which
is throwing tantrums)
Would like to hear you pro-s input on this

Based on the description, seems you're working with Git team project in Visual Studio Online(formerly Team Foundation Service). I'd like to know whether you mean Visual Studio Git command tool as the plug-in, and if you're trying to create solutions/projects
with Visual Studio and add them to the created Git team project.
From the screenshot, you're not connect to the Git team project by using Team Explorer. To work with Git team project locally, you can follow the instructions as below:
Connect to Git team project by using Team Explorer, after that you might install Git tools if you connect to the team project for the first time
Clone the remote Git repository to a local git repository and set the path to local git repository
Create a solution and select Git source control, also saved to the local path of the local git repository
Select your branch, and then click "Changes" and Commit the changes
Click "unsynced commits" and push the commit to remote git repository

WebI 4.0 using BEx Query - #TOREFRESH when using input control

Once I refresh my webI report for certain month range and then I use input control for analysing my data within that month range. It always ask for refresh "#TOREFRESH".
The above happens also if I have lot of formula variables in my report then it always ask for refresh when I use input controls on different member.
Please let me know if this is a known issue.

#TOREFRESH normally indicates that the returned data have dependencies for which you need to manually refresh again to pull the correct data however this would incorrectly appear under some circumstances.

Disable the need of the function key when using the control key

I'm often using the F1-12 keys when using an IDE for developing. Those IDE's use the CTR+F1-12 shortcuts quite a bit and it's always needed to use FN+CTR+F1-12 which is ridiculous and redundant. Is there a way to keep using the functions assigned to F1-12 (Adjust volume, brightness...) without pressing the function key and be able of using CTR or ALT +F1-12 without the need of pressing the function key?

According to the system help text it is possible. And for me it works as described in the help text on my MacBook Pro.
But on my Mac Pro (late 2013) the relevant control (“Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys”) is missing form System Preferences >> Keyboard >> Keyboard.
From the help text for the topic "Use keyboard function keys:"
If you frequently use the alternate function of a function key, you can switch the keyboard so that the function keys perform the alternate function without your pressing Fn. You then hold down Fn to use a function key’s original hardware control function. If your keyboard doesn’t have an Fn key, try holding down the Control key.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Keyboard.
Open Keyboard preferences
Select the “Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys” checkbox.

How to stop a while loop when using tab control

How do you use a tab contol to stop what is happening on one tab when you switch to another tab? In the test example I attached, I have a while loop nested inside a case structure controlled by the tab control. When I tab to page two the elapsed timer starts but when I switch to another tab it does not stop. I can't come up with an easy way to stop or exit the while loop when I change tabs.

I played with it a little more and came up with this fix. This fixes it but is not tied to the changing tabs as I was looking for. Is this just too many nested loops and a bad idea?

This is exactly what you posted, only the whitespace has been changed.
This makes it clear that the GROUP BY is inside the parentheses with the argument to XMLAGG. You can have an ORDER BY clause there, but not a GROUP BY clause.

Assigning Map IDs when using Version Control

We are using RH11 with version control (two of us have licences to use RH) I am wanting to assign Map IDs in our project. I created the map number, but when I go to assign it to a topic, I get the the following message.
"The files in the list below could not be checked out from version control. Exclusive access to these files is required to execute the selected action"
The file in the list that it is referring to has the extension .ali
Is this saying that because there are two of us with RH that can access the project that I can't do this? Or is it because of the version control I cannot do this? I don't really understand why? I am hoping there is an expert who can enlighten me!

There are two reasons that this behaviour normally occurs:
The file is checked out by the other author. This happens when you both are trying to add new map id's at the same time. If the other author checks in the entire project, you should be fine.
The file is somehow located outside source control. In this scenario your source control link has issues. Try opening the Source Control application to see what is going on.
Can you also try checking out the entire project before adding the map id. Does that help?

HT4689 Why I can't I see my file names when using Mission Control?

It's not uncommon for me to have multiple Word Documents open at once and it's extremely annoying that they are no longer labeled like they used to be when I used "Hot Corners" in Snow Leopard. I missed out entirely on Lion but just bought an iPhone and figured I might as well upgrade to Moutain Lion on my computer while I was at it. Anyone else hate this particular feature of Mountain Lion or know how to solve it? I have already unchecked "Group Windows by Application" so at least they're no longer in a stack (thanks, Support Community!), but I still want to be able to differentiate between them at a glance. Any help is appreciated! I'm a longtime Mac user and not used to being so frustrated with my devices.

Photosmart C6150 printing slow even when using printer controls

It started out intermintently printing slow using the PC and the front panel copy button, as if it was switching into high resolution mode. I checked the driver / printer prefrences and found nothing in high resolution mode. Recently we have been doing alot of copying from the front panel, not from the computer software, and it got worse. I checked the quality setting in the printer and even set it to fast. It would then print a semi-fast sheet (as if it was fighting itself to print faster but couldn't), then a fast sheet, then the next sheet would be slow again. After a few times of doing this, it finally stopped printing normal or fast and now it's stuck in high res slow printing mode. I printed a self test diagnostic page and it printed in less than 60 seconds and showed nothing. I have also chaned out the drivers on the PC and still nothing. Could it be a firmware issue and is that something I can flash?

Encore CS6 Freezes in Preview Mode when using Remote Control buttons

This appears to be one of many issues with ECS6 and I've seen them all from the library problem on out. I authored a DVD in ECS6 (with latest updates as of an hour ago) and all went without error. I discovered two things:
1. Music was missing from the main menu video, but was there in the submenu video and there in preview.
2. Remote could not navigate buttons on submenu.
This led me to use the "remote control" buttons instead of the mouse to try and debug this and this is rather consistently crashing Encore. So not only have I not resolved the music or button navigation problem in my finished DVD but I've discovered a rather repeatable crash.
Anyone seen this? The buttons I chose have bounding boxes which are crazy big relative to the visible area of the button and I can't make them smaller. As a result they overlap (but don't turn red). didn't know if that was part of the remote navigation issue.
I'm using:
1. ECS6 (with latest patches)
2. Resource library from ECS5.1 because the forums seem to indicate that the library issue is not resolved.
Hard to believe the resource files would make a difference but there it is.

For the music missing part -
Did you link the Audio of Menu as in the below screenshot .If you have not then the audio will be missing

DCIteratorBinding reset when using go link

When I use a go link to step to another page in my application the DCIteratorBinding on the new page is always reset (I think the query is always automatically executed).
This does not happen when using a control flow case.
It's a very basic item, so I hope somebody can help.

A go link is not really designed for use within an application. It's supposed to be used for external URLs. So if you use a go link to jump to a page in your app it's the same as the user clearing the URL and starting again with that new URL which, most likely will essentially start a new session. So it's no surprise that everything refreshes.
So why use a go link, just use a control flow case and a commandLink.
