Keyword Preset Question

Is there any way to store more than 9 keywords in a keyword preset?  I realize I can have more than one preset for a topic (i.e.  Landscape1, Landscape2, Landscape3) but it would be really nice to have just one Landscape preset with a lot of keywords to choose from.
As always, any help would be appreciated.

The preset is designed with only nine slots so that you can use shortcuts via the10 key pad on the right hand side of full-sized keyboards [Alt/Opt][1-9] to apply the keywords.

  • Keyword hud questions

    Hi there everyone,
I have a couple of questions regarding the keyword hud:
Somehow my "stock categories" entry has moved as a sub-entry for another keyword. I have tried to just drag it out back to its rightful spot but it only seems to want to become a sub-entry for the keywords around it and not become its own main keyword again. How do I put it back in place?
Is it possible to create multiple customised keyword huds for each Project. My main keyword hud already seems to becoming unmanagable with so many words and categories and it is slowing down my work flow having to scroll through the long list and keep opening sub key words etc.
When I first started using the keywords feature I thought it was great and very easy and fast, but the more words I add the more ungainly it becomes.
There are many different keywords that I do not need for specific projects so slimming down the keywords available for each project would speed up my workflow dramatically I think.
Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Justin

Had a similar issue & It took me a while to figure this one out - but it's quite simple really!
To put the Stock category back to the root level simply drag it onto an empty area at the bottom of the list - ie so no other category is highlighted - and then release the mouse button. The category should then move back. If it doesn't, or goes into another sub-cat, then you'd still got a category highlighted somewhere.
You can't create customised Keyword HUDs, but you can use the Keyword Presets in the control bar (Press Shift-D to hide/unhide them, press D to Hide/Unhide the control bar itself). You can create different sets of keywords and then use the alt-1 through alt-0 to add then. Check the manual for a bit more detail (Chptr 10, pg213).

  • Synching settings (keywords, presets, etc) between multiple computers

Hello - I tried searching for a solution but the only one I found was from 2009 (for CS3).
I have CS4 on my MacBook and CS5 on my iMac.   I would like things like keyword hierarchy, some presets, some preferences to be synced on both computers.
If not syncing - maybe be able to copy Keywords, Presets from one computer to another.   Is there a way to do this?
    Thanks,
    Stevie

A lot of the Presets are fairly easy to locate (in the Presets-folder in the Application’s folder and in your user – Library – Application Support – Adobe – Adobe Photoshop CS5 – Presets) and copy/load.
Workspaces and the currently loaded Brushes, Patterns, etc. are in user – Library – Preferences – Adobe Photoshop CS5 Settings.
Keywords I’m not sure about, maybe »Adobe Bridge Keywords.xml« in Bridge’s Application Support folder?
It should be possible to create a Script that compares folder content and/or file-change dates (the respective other volume would have to be mounted naturally), loads the newer versions and link that Script to starting Photoshop with Script Events Manager – but I guess that would be rather complex.
I usually don’t use AppleScript myself, but possibly such a thing could be achieved at the System level, too.
Maybe asking in the Scripting Forum could turn something up.

  • PhotoShop CS2 and PDF Presets question.

    Hello,
I have installed the recent free release of Adobe Photoshop CS2 on my Win 8.1 PC.
I am creating the artwork for a CD Cover, by using a CYMK template from CD-Baby.
They require that the finished artwork be submitted to them in PDF format, using the [PDF/X-4:2008] preset.
I found that Photoshop CS2 didn't come with this preset, but after searching the web, I came across this forum whereby a user posted a link to a "JobOptions" archive file at...
         http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16243351/joboptions.rar
... I downloaded this RAR file and found that there was a file inside called "x4;2008.joboptions"
I installed this preset by the 'EDIT/Adobe PDF Presets/' route, and it seemed to successfully install the preset.
    (No errors at least).
Now when I go to save my finished project as PDF, I am given the choice of...
    * [PDF/X-1a:2001]
    * [PDF/X-3:2002]
    * x4;2008
(this is the exact description of each preset).
My only question is, do you think the desired [PDF/X-4:2008] was correctly installed?,
I'm not sure since the naming format is not exactly the same as the first 2 presets descriptions.
    Thank you.

    thanks for your reply  Mylenium.
is it possible that this user preset might not exactly conform to the desired preset I'm after?
is there any way I can get a genuine copy of the factory preset [PDF/X-4:2008]?
    thanks.

  • Keyword Search Question

    Newbie Alert:
I've searched the forum and can't find a solution to a problem I've encountered. I just moved from Bridge to LR3 for managing my images. In Bridge I developed the bad habit of explicitly adding keywords to my images all the way to the parent (a setting in bridge). For example, the keyword hierarchy for one of my images in Bridge might look like.
    Colorado [x]
            Denver [x]
                    DMNS [x]
Now that I am using LR3, I don't want Denver or Colorado explicitly selected when I choose "DMNS". instead I would like:
    Colorado [-]
            Denver [-]
                    DMNS [x]
Where Denver and Colorado are implicitly selected. When I do a search for "Colorado" LR seems to return all images that are either implicitly or explicitly tagged with that keyword. I need to select only the images where "Colorado" is explicitly selected.
How can I do a search to only find the images explicitly tagged "Colorado"? This seems also related to another "newbie" question I have. Bridge allowed for doing queries based on multiple keywords using a basic set of conditionals. In LR3, "Find" doesn't appear to provide that functionality. How can I do find an image where more than one keyword exists but they are not within the same containing keyword? Or, using this example, find all images that have the keyword "Colorado" but do not include "DMNS"?
    Thank you.

I pretty much consolidated all my keywords once, then never again. It was a PITA even with help from KeywordConsolidator.
Now I enter keywords in Lightroom, then invoke Keyword Consolidator's keyword form to enter title & caption and double-check/correct keyword entry mistakes on the spot (or add a keyword I had forgotten...), since it displays the whole keyword path in a linear list, its easier to see stuff...
I hope Adobe considers some keyword entry enhancements:
    - prompt before creating new keywords.
    - display in list form with paths (hard to see what you've really got in paragraph form without paths).
    - plural / singular / synonym detection and handling.
    - and of course: proper handling of spaces and fix 'Contains Words' bug.
PS - John Ellis has a particularly robust keyword entry alternative if you've interest.
    Have fun,
    Rob

  • DVDSP preset question with batch processing.

    I hope someone can help.
When I drag my files that I want to batch process, where I can
choose the output, for example DVD HD, etc.
These presets have different times with them for video, like 120, 190, or even 30.
My question is, what is the difference between them? Does any of them produce better quality of the video?
My video files are .avi files and run about 30 minutes.
Also, does it matter which I choose as far as HD DVD, DVD best quality, etc., if these are already .avi files or just choose DVD HD and have the best quality possible?
Thank you for any help that is given.

About the numbers, the 30, 120, 190, etc. What do
    those numbers mean?
Are they minutes? And if they are minutes, does that
mean it goes by how a regular dvd has minutes on it
or does it go by how long each file is, or total size
    of project?
What those numbers mean are the amount of material that will fit on a DVD-5 based on the encoding settings, so in other words if you choose 120 it means that about 2 Hrs of running time of video will fit on the DVD encoded at that rate. Normal and high quality are whether it is a one pass or two pass
I am still a little confused.
I have 10 .avi files. Each one is about 30 minutes
    long and is about 300mb.
I am unsure on what video setting or settings to use
that will allow me to have at least the same quality
    as the files already are.
Encoding will reduce the quality, sometimes you may notice, other times not, but you have about 6 hours worth of material there. Depedning on what it is you can make a DVD-9, but unless it is very low motion probably not a DVD-5 (Also 300 Megs for 30 minutes of material (and I have not looked at new avi codecs recently) sounds like the material is already compressed heavily
To give you a rough idea, DV which is what comes from many consumer cameras with firewire, is compressed at a rate of about 5:1 already, and 9 minutes 20 seconds is just shy of 2 Gigs, so 30 minutes would be in the area of 6 Gigs of DV (or about 18 times the size of your files)
i have already done the audio portion of each file so
the video portions are all I need to do now.
Best thing to do is play with the settings, test small sections where there is less motion and more motion. In general 2-Pass is going to provide you with better results than one pass

  • Ultrabeat Patches/Presets Question

I'm sure this will have been asked & probably answered before but i have done a search & found nothing on it.
    So I'll apologize now.
Ok Ultrabeat patches or Ultrabeat presets.
I know that Logic 8 already has an extensive library of presets for Ultrabeat but i have pretty much been through them & used them to death.
My question is this , Is there any way i could get hold of more Ultrabeat presets or even more patches for the step sequencer.
    Thank You

    Hi Sampeconstruct
Ive started down the programming them myself route to be honest i was being lazy
Not much response so i assumed the answer to my question was no
It was more the patterns to use in the sequencer i was after really
Ive been getting some interesting grooves using the transform window in the piano roll aswell after creating a sequence in UB

  • Keyword Tags Question

I am using PSE 9  and have just been checking some of my keyword Tags.  I have run into a problem where I am looking in one keyword tag  eg animals, and there are some photos in there that do not belong there - they have the keyword Flowers on them.   They DO NOT have that keyword tag on them,   What might be causing this problem and how do I rectify it please?  No other Keyword tags are ticked.  Nothing I have tried seems to have worked

just further to my question above  each photo has a small icon  circle with a line through it on the top left hand side.. Says no match.  What does this mean?

  • Preset Question

Is it possible to create a hierarchy of presets, like I can do with keywords? My list of presets is getting too long. Rather than delete some of them, I'd like to be able to collapse the list some. Is this possible? How?
    Howard

Perhaps they didn't think there would be that many!!! :)
The partial and hugely incomplete solution for now is to put presets into folders that are useful for you.
Then zip up the ones you don't want for that session.
A bit manual, but it works.
As for when will it get fixed. That we do not know, but it has been requested on several occasions by some of the beta testers and hopfully since the mechanism is in Lightroom it should be a no-brainer.

  • Capturing Hi8 A/V through Digital8 Camcorder - FCP preset question

After putting this off for years (so long that I forgot what to do) I am finally getting around to loading the old family library of Hi8 video footage shot in the 80's and 90's with a Canon A1 through a Sony DCR-TRV320 to do the analog to video conversion enroute to the Mac through FCP 6. After trial and error I have fumbled my way through the appropriate camcorder settings (Analog Video Out conversion to Digital Video Out, Audio bit rate changed from 12 bit to 16 bit) to eliminate the audio sampling rate mismatch error I was getting in FCP after Capture Now imports.
My latest test loaded OK with no errors. I am still left wondering if I should change the audio frequency preset in FCP. I can't find authoritative info on what audio frequency the original Hi8 material was recorded in. Changing the bit rate from 12 to 16 on the Sony camcorder fixed the FCP mismatch error I was getting, but I wonder if I am screwing with the sound by leaving the FCP preset at 48 kHz. If the Hi8 material was recorded at a lower frequency, will the audio be OK if FCP is importing it at 48 kHz? It sounds OK but I haven't done a headphone test. Just wondering if I have to create a special preset at a lower frequency or just leave it alone, now that I solved the bit rate problem.
    Thanks!

Thank you all for the expert advice. I just found the manual for the Sony camcorder used for the analog to digital conversion and it lists two modes for its PCM system 1) 12 bits/32 kHz, 2) 16 bits/48 kHz. If I understand you correctly, it doesn't matter how the audio was laid down by the Canon A1 analog, since the Sony is converting it to 16/48 (or 12/32 which was my problem earlier, before toggling the Sony menu setting). Is that right?

  • Printing presets question

I am trying to figure if what I am about to discuss is normal or a bug. So I go to print a picture, I configure the settings the way I want for an 8x10 (as an example). Among the settings I select the printer (my color printer) and the paper size (8x10). Before actually clicking on the print button I save the preset and call it "8x10". After saving it, I continue with the printing process without issues.
Let's say at some point in the future I want to print another 8x10. So off I go to print. I open the print screen and select the "8x10" preset saved from the previous session. Well, the printer displayed is the one defined as the default printer in "System Preferences" (in my case a black and white laserjet) and the paper size is the default 8 1/2 x 11. Is this the way it is suppose to be? I mean, if as part of a print process I define a printer and the paper should it not be stored as part of the preset?
So is what I am experiencing a bug or is this the way Aperture is configured to work? I find it annoying having to change the printer and the paper size every time (it is a mistake waiting to happen). I could set my color printer as the default in System Preferences but then every time I print out of any other program I will have to change the printer setting in that program.
    Thanks in advance.
    P.S. Using Aperture 3.0.1
    Message was edited by: Coqui-

Thanks for your reply. When using 3.0 non of the settings I saved when creating a preset would be there if I tried to use the preset again (there were times when the saved preset would just disappear).
With 3.0.1 some of the settings are saved, like image size, crop to fill, and watermark. But the printer and paper size always bounce back to my laserjet and letter size.

  • Import keywords delimiter question

In gallery mode I specify multiple keyword by clicking buttons and check boxes --no problem there.  But what is the trick to manually typing in multiple import keywords without the program concatenating them into a new unwanted keyword?   Is it some sort of delimiter character?

    Pipe "|" or ">" .
"|" would be in you want to enter GrandParent | Parent | Child
">" would be in you want to enter Child > Parent > GrandParent

  • Compressor  presets question

I'm using Compressor 3 to compress a 1.5 minute video in Apple ProRes 422 to something pretty portable- something that I can demo on my late 2005 PowerBook G4. Exporting my video right from Final Cut Pro 6 gives me a file roughly 2.3 GB. What's the best compression setting to use? I'm using a Power Mac G5 Dual Core 2.3GHz model (Late 2005) with the NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 and 6.5 GB of RAM.

Would that be the preset in the 'Quicktime' folder, or one of the presets in the 'Apple Devices' folder? I'm not actually looking to play it on a specific device- just thru Quicktime on my PowerBook.

  • EQ presets question

iTunes 8 - is it possible to set equalizer presets so that specific presets only affect the song to which they are applied? I want certain EQ setting ONLY for certain songs, and the rest to default to NO SETTING . . . yet after a song plays with an EQ preset, it seems to remain in effect until it's changed manually, or another preset is applied. And I can't be going in and changing it manually on every song. Thanks!

    Hi,
to add an equaliser preset to a specific song, right-click on the track and select "Get Info" then in "Options" set the equaliser.
The setting you chose will be applied to that track only, and will not affect any other tracks.

  • Presets question

    Hi all,
just wondered  what would be the best way to handle this scenario:
I have a large number of files and i want to create a watch folder to batch convert them to mp4. This seems straightforward enough : but they are all different aspects and i want them to maintain them. it seems to me that creating a watch folder i have to specify the file size - 1920 x 1080 e.g which will then not work well for a 4:3 video
is it possible to make sizing dynamic
    thanks
    Matt

I created my own. Dunno if there's supposed to be one built-in with the app, I changed it months ago.
Options lets you select all the settings you need and at the bottom of that window is a SAVE button.
It's similar to creating render or output templates in AE.
Oh, just wandered over the prefs settings, see Output, show EXPORT PRESETS.
Umm always check the online help, too for stuff like this where you think you've been screwed.
