Keyword problem involving word "reflective"

I have a keyword set that has a nested keyword inside of it called "reflective." I have about 200 jpgs labeled with this keyword (it looks like Subject>Still_Life>reflective) It is set to add the parent keywords on export.
When I import new photos (usually jpgs without any keywords or other info), virtually every time a new keyword "reflective" shows up, not in the nested hierarchy where it's supposed to be, but as a sole keyword at the top of the hierarchy. There are usually 2-6 photos there. When I look at those 2-6 photos, they are always photos that I had already imported and keyworded in the nested "reflective" hierarchy. Now they are not in the nest, they are out on their own with this rogue keyword that won't stay in its place. It only happens with that word. I have to check "reflective" in the nested hierarchy and uncheck the rogue "reflective" and delete it to remedy this problem. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but it gets extremely irritating to have to do it every time. Why won't that keyword stay put?
I don't know why this is happening, if it's a bug or something that I am doing wrong. I have many nested keywords and none of the other ones pop out of their hierarchy.

Anyway, if your workflow involves reimporting exported files, here's what might be happening: when you export a file and the "Export as Lightroom hierarchy" is unchecked at export, Lightroom will export all keyword hierarchies as flat keywords. Naturally, when you reimport a file with flat keywords, your "reflective" keyword will be added as a top-level, rather than child keyword.

Column break problem in word 2010

I have a 2 column document. Some how i feel it has inserted a column break in the middle of page 7 of my word document which consists of 12 pages. It is a reviewed document & tracking is also going on and 'Track Changes: On' message is also visible on
my progress bar. On page 7 i have a figure also which is one column wide. The text above this figure goes on to next column after 9th line. There is still a 3 line gap between my text & figure. But its moving the text to next column. After the figure it

Hierarchal Keyword Problem

The keyword hierarchy in Aperture works oddly. If I create a subordinate keyword, and then apply it to an image, the higher level keywords are indicated in the metadata inspector. For example I could have a high level keyword of Family and then a subordinate keyword of grandson. Applying grandson to an image will cause Family to also be indicated in the metadata insoector
However, if I do a keyword search in the HUD by clicking on the keyword Family the image does not come up. If, instead, I do a text search on Family the image does come up. I can't see any reason for this behavior. Clicking on the higher level keyword in the HUD should bring up the image, just as the text serach does.
I would suggest that this be changed in future versions of Aperture.

Problem with Word 2013 through VPN

Hello,
From several weeks my company has a problem
with Word 2013 when laptop is connected to the network
via VPN.
Symptoms:
- Word 2013 is opening very slow (even
opening a blank card)
- there are no matter if I try to open blank page or network files
- All other Office 2013 components are working fine (Excel, Powerpoint etc).
- When I disconnect from a VPN, Word is opening properly.
It is not a problem with VPN because:
- Word is opening locally (not network files)
- before we had Word 2010 and it was working smoothly
Does anyone know a similar case
and could help solve this problem?

Word 2013 might deal with documents in different ways.
Since Word will open properly when you disconnect from a VPN, you might want to start by analyzing the network traffic, VPN connections.
Please try to check the option "Copy remotely stored files onto your computer and update the remote file when saving" in
FILE>Options>Advanced>Save section, and then verify result.
The other thing to check is add-ins. I'd suggest you to start Word in safe mode and see if issue persists:
Press Win + R and type "winword /safe" in the blank box, then press Enter.

Duplex printing problem in Word 2010 but NOT in Excel 2010

At the risk of repeating an old question :
I have Windows 7 Pro, Office Professional 2010 and an HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus and two sided printing is a problem in Word.
Excel prints in Duplex by selecting "Print on both sides / Flip pages on short edge".
Word, though, with the exact same Setting, fails and the document is printed one two sheets of paper ... one side only. Seems rather bizarre.
Help would be appreciated.

Which Word 2010 version do you use? Please try the Word 2010 14.0.4760.1000 version(We may upgrade or downgrade the version by install or uninstall the patches).
Next, we may try the workarounds which provide by other communicators, I copied here:
Workaround1:
File then Print
Go ahead and select manual print on both sides
Go to page setup, print options, and the advanced tab. Go all the way down and select "Print on the front of the sheet for duplex printing."
After printing the first set, I was able to just turn it 180 degrees and it worked just fine.
Workaround2:
As a work around I found if I ignore Words "Settings" and instead go into my printer properties, select the Finishing Tab, and select "Print on Both Sides (Manually)", the document will duplex print correctly. Requires 5 steps instead of 3

Problems converting Word 2007 document to PDF

Greetings,
Have a brand new shiny computer with Office 2007 basic (Word 2007, Excel 2007 and Outlook 2007). Comes with Adobe Acrobat Standard. Installed Adobe Acrobat Standard with no errors. Opened a Word 2007 document that has an embedded Excel 2007 spreadsheet (its a document for generating quotes). Word document looks fine in Word. Prints to paper fine as well. Tried Save-As Pdf and the resulting PDF has big black boxes where the spreadsheet should be. Tried printing to the Adobe PDF printer with the same result. Downloaded update for Adobe Acrobat Standard and installed it. Adobe Acrobat Standard is now version 8.1.2. Tried saving as PDF, same problem.
Word 2007 is (12.0.6015.5000) MSO (12.0.6017.5000)
Adobe Acrobat Standard is ver 8.1.2
Microsoft Windows XP Pro.
Any ideas on how to fix this ?

Darryl,
Bill is correct - "Save as PDF" is the Microsoft PDF tool. However, on your Word Save As menu, you should also see Save As > Adobe PDF, which is the one you want. (At least this is how it appears in Word 2007 with Acrobat 8.1.1 installed.) You should also be able to select the Acrobat tab in Word 2007 and select Create PDF.
I tried a test with Acrobat Professional 8.1.1, and the spreadsheet inserted in a Word file shows up just fine in the PDF. I selected "Fully functional PDF" in the Save As dialog box (not "Quick and Simple PDF"). Also, did not create a tagged PDF. Does Acrobat Standard have these options? (Note: The PDF was converted correctly from both a .doc and a .docx file, with an .xls file inserted.)

Problem with word 2013 since I tried to share a page through mail

I have window 8 Microsoft 2013
I have tried to send a Word doc using share and mail it, it went through but since this time, I can't close Word and I got this message:
You cannot close until the Send Mail command is finished Switch to the New Message first and either send or close the message. The message went fine and my outlook and cox mail have no mail waiting to be sent.
My outlook works fine it doesn't show any mail in outbox.
I have also this message that I have a e-mail window open? I do not know where to find it and how to close it. I have 2 e-mail account one with Cox.net and the other gmail.com I use either cox or outlook to read and send e-mail.
I hope that you'll be able to see why I can't close Word program.

Do you mean the email was sent out successfully but the problem is Word cannot be closed? Can you see the sent mail in the Sent Items folder?
Does this issue happen to all Word documents? If we end the Word from task manager, and then do it again, can you reproduce this issue?

Keyword Problem and a Question.Forfo

For some odd reason, Lightroom assigns a keyword (Tofino) to ALL new imports. Even though it isn't selected. A bit aggravating, because I have to got back and change every file after it's imported. Why is this happening and how do I turn it off? This has gone on for more than a year!
My other question concerns the Adjustment Brush. I know there's a simple way of hitting a key to see which areas have been "masked," but I can't figure out how to do it? Who knows?

I have a Word 2007 DOC (not docx) file with pictures and text which converted perfectly with Distiller 8. I installed CS4 Distiller 9, and now the same DOC file flows over onto several extra pages. I am using the default settings. Any idea what has changed. Thanks in advance.

First, select the Adobe PDF printer in WORD. Then go through the document to check for the flow of the document. It should print the same as you see in the document after the printer has been selected.

Problems converting word to pdf

I usually have no problems converting word pages into pdf's howevr these two regular word pages keeps comming out blank? any ideas why and how to fix it?

just as any other file i open the adobe reader program and create pdf it usually works but for some reason I have two word docs that always comes out blank, wyhen I open them as word all the txt is there but when I convert it comes out a blank pdf any ideas?

Problems printing word documents

My friend as a powerbook and a HP printer, and is having problems printing word documents, nothing shows up in preview when you press print just a blank page pops out. You can print pictures fine from iPhoto, any ideas?
Popping over tomorrow to see if I can get it working. My friend emailed a document and I had no trouble printing it.

Can't test at the moment, but, if after clicking the print
button, in the option tab, can you select "as laid out on screen",
then click Print?

Joe, when can we expect a fix for the numerous keyword problems? Is this a priority?
There are so many problems that I’ll be very surprised if you can resolve them all on the first attempt. I doubt you have a complete list but I feel safe in saying they’ve all been mentioned here in one form or another. You would be doing yourself and the customers a service if you took the unprecedented step of providing your list so that it can be reviewed for accuracy. I’m finding new problems... or at least I think I am. I hate to waste your time reporting problems others have already reported or worse yet, problems I’ve reported — as I’ve lost track there are so many.
Please let us know what is going on with this. You’ve made progress on the performance issues (though I think I speak for everyone with a PPC system that it’s still not what it should be – and I have a G5 Quad w/7 GB RAM and Quadro FX 4500 card. Aperture should be smokin’ but it’s not...)

I have a 500 GB hard drive; that's how I've avoided the issue, to date. But you consider a 2000 shot bat mitzvah a small shoot, so I have know problem acknowledging you shoot a lot more than I do.
The key point about Aperture, to date, is that it doesn't add ANY data to original RAW files, period. Everything it appears to do -- everything is just a set of modifications to the master. This applies to sharpening, this applies to shadows and highlights, this applies to cropping... and it applies to metadata.
As for archival, etc., ... if you're archiving outside of Aperture... why not just use multiple Aperture libraries? It's a bit inconvenient (to the extent that it takes 15 seconds to change the setting and re-launch), but it gets around the problem. I mean, if you're archiving external to Aperture in original RAW format, you're not only "losing" the metadata... you're losing every single change you've made to the file. Truly, no editing functionality of anything would you be using in this scenario.
